Stormtrooper Leggings and Crop Tops Won't Protect You From Laser Blasts

$
0
0

This is a series of crop tops and leggings from Poprageous that were inspired by the Stormtrooper designs in Star Wars. They fall under what they call their “Robotic” line. They don't use the Star Wars name in any of their marketing, but it's pretty obvious that they are based on the designs.

The line even includes a battle damaged version. This isn't the kind of armor that could protect you from any laser blasts, but the armor that the troopers wore in the films didn't seem to work out well for them either.

Something Shocking Just Happened to Batman and Joker in BATMAN #40

$

0

SPOILERS ahead for those of you who haven't read Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's Batman #40 yet. I'm just going to jump right into it.

Batman and The Joker have a long violent history with each other, ever since Joker made his debut in 1940 in Batman #1, but it looks like that has all come to an end with the conclusion of the comic series "Endgame."

The Dark Knight basically was willing to sacrifice himself to take down the Clown Prince of Crime during the violent climatic conclusion of the comic series. It seems as if The Joker really is dead. While Batman is trying to stop the Joker from reaching a pit with a mysterious healing fluid, the two characters are left for dead in a bloody mess. When it comes to comics it's hard to believe that characters like this are actually dead. I also thought it was an interesting reveal that the Joker knew Batman and Bruce Wayne were the same person.

After being fatally wounded and buried deep underground, I don't see how they are going to come back, but Bruce Wayne will. Who knows about The Joker though. Scott Snyder talked about the issue in an interview with Comic Book Resources earlier today in which he seems hint that Batman went down fighting Joker to the death. Here's what he had to say:

"Batman knows that he is going to go down fighting. And that's the way that Batman will always end. He's not going to retire, at least our version of him. He's not going to ride off into the sunset. He's going to go down fighting for the city whether old or young. Giving him the chance to fight his greatest enemy, who represents everything that he stands against is the perfect ending for him. The Joker represents meaningless and the idea that everyone is laughing at him and you. Joker doesn't think that your life means anything whereas Batman says, 'Stand up and make your life matter.' Who wouldn't want to go down in a blaze of glory? If you're going to go down some way, what better way than saving the city and making sure that this monster never gets out of the box on your watch. It's almost a happy ending for Batman."

Sounds to me like Joker could actually be dead, and when Capullo is asked if Batman is dead he said:

"Of course not. Like Scott has said before, you don't do a story like this without the backdoor to bring him back. And you have to do a story like this to tell a better story. And we are doing a better story. But come on, of course I don't want Bruce Wayne to never return. [Laughs] No fan would ever want to see that and Scott and I are two of the biggest Batman fans on the planet. Would we want to crush, kill destroy Bruce Wayne so that he's gone forever? Absolutely not because he's as entrenched in our hearts as is he is for every fan that loves him."

Did they leave a backdoor open for the Joker though? If not it's sure to change the DC Universe in a major way. I have the two pages of the comic below for you to check out that gives you a little bit of what happens, but make sure to buy the comic to read the full thing. I think it's a bold move to kill off these characters, but I'm sure they'll be back.

Red Letter Media Reveals How All Blockbuster Movie Trailers Are The Same

For movie geeks, it's tough to beat the experience of seeing a perfectly crafted blockbuster. When character, story, scale, and stakes all come together, it's a magical thing that can take your breath away, and it's the high that movie lovers like me are always chasing.

Trailers, on the other hand, are an entirely different art form. They've become so formulaic in recent years that I've decided to mostly avoid the trailers for movies I'm excited about seeing, partially because I don't want any specific money shots ruined for me beforehand, but partly just to avoid seeing every film with a budget north of $150 million be crammed into the same marketing box. The team at Red Letter Media — the same guys who did those extensive breakdowns of the Star Wars prequels — have released a new video that examines the "sameness" that pervades almost every modern blockbuster movie trailer. Check it out below.

James Wan in Talks to Direct ROBOTECH

James Wan, the director of Furious 7, Insidious and The Conjuring, is in talks to direct a live-action feature film adaptation of Robotech! Wan has become a favorite director of mine over the last few years. If he actually directs Robotech, I would be ecstatic! He's absolutely the perfect director to take on this project, and I have no doubt that he would deliver one hell of an amazing film.

The news comes from Deadline, who says that even though Wan has a lot of directing offers that he can choose from right now, Sony is willing to work around whatever projects he ends up taking on. This would be another huge franchise for Wan, who is currently gearing up to direct the sequel to The Conjuring.

I've been a fan of Robotech since the '80s, when I was first introduced to the animated series as a kid. I loved this show, and I've been wanting to see it adapted into a movie for years. It has been in development for quite a long time already, and it has been through the hands of a few different directors, but if Wan comes on board it's sure to finally actually happen.

Last month we learned that Sony was looking to move fast on the project, and it looks like they're actually really serious about getting it up and running. The movie is being developed by producers Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton from a script written by Michael Gordon. All three of these individuals worked together on Zack Snyder's 300

Robotech takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off an alien invasion, with the fate of the human race ending up in the hands of two young pilots.

What do you think of Wan possibly taking on the challenge of bringing Robotech to the big screen?

Full Color Photo of Ben Affleck’s Batman

A new photo of Ben Affleck as Batman in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has surfaced. This is the first full color photo that we’ve seen of the actor wearing the costume. Not only do we get a good look at the mask, but we also get to see the grey body suit and his utility belt.

This might just be our best look at the costume yet, and it’s seriously badass. It’s a really interesting costume design, with a very interesting look and texture, and the of course, Affleck is looking sadder than ever. It has become clear that this version of Batman is going to be the moodiest one that we’ve seen on film.

One of the main things that Snyder wanted to accomplish with the costume is make sure it had a flexible cowl. It doesn’t look that flexible in this photo, but we’ll just have to see the Caped Crusader in action to see how it all works.

Batman v Superman hits theaters on March 25th, 2016. If you want to watch the teaser trailer for the movie again, click here

Beautiful Chaos - Female Joker Art by Sakimichan

With all the hubbub over Jared Leto’s Joker transformation, it seems like a good time to feature another take on Batman’s greatest villain. The lovely art you see above is by artist Sakimichan, and it features a far sexier take on the green haired crazy. You might notice an uncanny resemblance to Emma Watson, but don’t construe that as a complaint, far from actually, but it is more than noticeable. Sakimichan’s art is just so lively and energetic, with every bolt of color just crackling off your screen.

Sakimichan also posted her male version of Harley on twitter, and they certainly do make a fitting, if heavily unstable, pair.

If you’re interested in supporting Sakimichan’s artwork, you can support the patreon here, and to find more fantastic art, you can head here.

The Original T-Rex is Back in JURASSIC WORLD, and “This Movie Is Her Unforgiven”

$

Yesterday we learned that Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World will tell a story that doesn’t follow or acknowledge the previous two films. It is a direct sequel to the very first Jurassic Park movie that was directed by Steven Spielberg

The movie is going to feature a few direct callbacks to that first film that we all loved so much. It was revealed by /Film that one of the attractions of the park will include the T-Rex. Not just any T-Rex though, the same T-Rex that terrorized the characters from the first movie.

I’ve gotta say… that’s so freakin’ cool! The director told the site that “This movie is her Unforgiven.” He also said that the dino is 22 years older, “But she’s not limping around.” He went into a little detail, explaining,

“We took the original design and obviously, technology has changed. So, it’s going to move a little bit differently, but it’ll move differently because it’s older. And we’re giving her some scars and we’re tightening her skin. So, she has that feeling of, like, an older Burt Lancaster. And this movie is her Unforgiven.”

When asked if he got to build the dinosaur again, he said,

“We got to build everyone from the ground up because technology has changed so much that everything is a rebuild. And I got to bring in dinosaurs that I’ve always thought deserved a big scene. There’s an Ankylosaurus in this movie; was a really big scene and that’s just a bad ass dinosaur. And there are others. There’s smaller appearances, some bigger appearances. You know, we have an underwater reptile. I’m sure you’ve heard about that. That thing is pretty cool. We have a new kind of flying dinosaur that no one’s ever seen before, you know, in addition to the Pteranodons that are really scary. And I didn’t want to just throw the kitchen sink at it. Each of these movies has done a good job at just very carefully, in a measured way, increasing the new dinosaurs that you see. But, there’s a lot of dinosaurs in the movie for sure.”

I’m just excited to learn that the original T-rex will be back. This news seriously made my day, and I can’t wait to see what Trevorrow plans on doing with her in the story. Make sure to read the rest of the interview, in which the director discuses practical effects versus CG effects and more.

In celebration of The Avengers: Age of Ultron opening up in theaters this week, Beat Down Boogie has released an awesome fan film that you have to watch called "Kung Fu Avengers: Civil War."

It features Iron Man and Captain America locked in a hilarious martial arts battle. I had a blast watching this, and I loved the way they referenced other films like Drunken Master in the process.

The film is an amazingly well-made martial arts parody that any fan will love and appreciate. The cinematography, the editing, and the fight choreography are fantastic. I really hope that you all enjoy this as much as I did.

Trailer for Tom Hardy's 1960s Gangster Film LEGEND

The first teaser trailer has been released for Tom Hardy's 1960s gangster film Legend, and this movie looks freakin' amazing. Hardy stars as both  Reginald and Ronald Kray, real-life twin gangsters who pretty much ruled London during the '60s.

The movie comes from writer and director Brian Helgeland, who won an Oscar in 1998 for the screenplay he wrote for the Curtis Hanson directed film L.A. Confidential. I love the cool vibe of the movie.

Hardy looks amazing as these characters, and even though he doesn't say much in the trailer, you can tell he's going to give a couple of impressive performances. It can't be an easy take for an actor playing against themselves. Here's the synopsis:

From Academy Award® winner Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential, Mystic River) and Working Title (The Theory of Everything) comes the true story of the rise and fall of London’s most notorious gangsters, Reggie and Ron Kray, both portrayed by Tom Hardy in an amazing double performance.
Together, the Kray brothers take over the city. But as their reign expands, power-struggles, fierce madness, and a woman weakens their bond – the weak link that could cause their empire to collapse. LEGEND takes us into the secret history of the 1960s and the extraordinary events that secured the infamy of the Kray twins.

The movie also stars Emily BrowningChristopher EcclestonDavid ThewlisChazz Palminteri, and Taron EgertonLegend is set to be released in the U.K. on September 11th. Universal Pictures is releasing the film in the U.S. but there's no date set for it yet.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS - TOP GUN Trailer Re-Edit

Here's an amazingly entertaining fan-made trailer that takes Star Wars: The Force Awakens to the danger zone. The two teasers that have been released for film were re-edited with a couple of popular songs from the classic Tony Scott and Tom Cruise film Top Gun, and the outcome is spectacular. The trailer was cut together by David Johns, and this is a note that came along with the video:

If Star Wars VII had come out in 1986, Tony Scott & Jerry Bruckheimer had made it and it [had] starred Tom Cruise... the trailer probably would have looked/sounded like this.

Make sure to stick around until the end of the video to watch Cruise get crazy with a lightsaber.

Scarlett Johansson's GHOST IN THE SHELL Release Date Moved Up

Director Rupert Sanders' (Snow White and the Huntsman) live action take on the classic anime Ghost in the Shell will be released a little earlier than expected. Disney and DreamWorks have announced that the release date of the film has moved from April 14th, 2017 to March 31st, 2017.

The film is set to start shooting early next year, and Scarlett Johansson takes on the lead role in the adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s iconic cyberpunk manga series, the story of which follows members of a covert ops unit that take on technology-related crime. Ghost in the Shell was famously adapted into an anime feature back in 1995, and it seems fans are split on their excitement for the movie.

Some fans are excited for the movie, while others are disappointed that a Japanese actress wasn't cast in the lead role. Personally, I just hope that the story and script are tight. If those are good then everything else should fall into place. I'll also say that as much as I didn't like Snow White and the Huntsman, I'm still interested to see what Rupert has planned for the visuals in Ghost in the Shell. I'm kind of looking forward to seeing this world brought to life.

If it looks as good as what we saw in this live-action photo homage done for the film, then we're in for a real treat.

Sanders will direct the film from a script written by William Wheeler with Avi Arad with Steven Paul producing along with Steven Spielberg.

AVENGERS: AGE OF TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES Comedic Fan Film

It's a good thing that The Avengers have good solid communication technology in the Marvel cinematic universe. If they didn't, there would be even more issues for them to deal with, especially when important decisions have to made. This fan-made comedy short by YouTube user pixelspersecond addresses those issues. The short is called "Avengers: Age of Technical Difficulties," and here's a brief story rundown:

To defend against a major alien invasion, SHIELD Director Nick Fury must secure permission from the World Security Council to assemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The only thing standing in his way are all the bugs, glitches and technical difficulties that come with any teleconference…
A spoof of Marvel’s The Avengers and Age of Ultron.

I've gotta say, the guy who plays Nick Fury in the short does a good Samuel L. Jackson impersonation. Check it out!

Here's the newest poster for Alan Taylor's Terminator Genisys, and it features all the major players in the story engulfed in flames. We've got Arnold Schwarzenegger as the aged T-800, Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, and Jason Clarke as the John Connor robot hybrid killing machine.

During an interview with Empire, Schwarzenegger talked more about the film and gave more insight into his character, saying:

“The story has changed, so I am like a combination of the characters who you have seen in the past. He is a powerful and potentially evil kind of machine that can be very destructive if I see that there is danger from me or for the victory against the machines. I can switch over to being the protector of Sarah Connor. It depends where we are in this storyline.”

The story follows John Connor, leader of the human resistance, "who sends Sgt. Kyle Reese back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor and safeguard the future, an unexpected turn of events creates a fractured timeline. Now, Sgt. Reese finds himself in a new and unfamiliar version of the past, where he is faced with unlikely allies, including the Guardian, dangerous new enemies, and an unexpected new mission: To reset the future…"

The movie is the first in a planned trilogy, and it will hit theaters on July 1st, 2015.

First Look at Will Smith on the Set of SUICIDE SQUAD

$

One of the main discussions revolving around David Ayer's Suicide Squad has been the crazy look of Jared Leto's Joker. We're going to shift gears now and put the spotlight on Will Smith, who plays the villain Floyd Lawton a.k.a. Deadshot in the film.

This is our first look at Smith as the expert marksman, and it comes from the set of the film in Toronto, Canada. He's obviously not in his villainous tactical gear, but he's definitely showing off his alter-ego swagger.

I'm looking forward to seeing the main costumes for Deadshot, and the rest of the team that will be introduced to us in the film. A couple of the most recent previous reports on the film include the following: Ben Affleck Spotted On SUICIDE SQUAD Set, Seemingly Confirming Batman Cameo and Will Jared Leto's Joker Appear in BATMAN V SUPERMAN?.

Creepy NIGHT TERRORS Game App Turns Your House into a Horror Movie

night-terrors-video-game-turns-your-house-into-a-horror-movie

There's an awesomely terrifying new game app being developed called Night Terrors, and it brings ghosts into your home, turning it into your very own horror movie that you get to experience. The app was funded on Indiegogo, and it looks like an amazing experience for anyone who wants to have the shit scared out of them. Here's a description of what the game entails:

It's a highly immersive, photorealistic, binaural, AUGMENTED REALITY survival horror game for mobile devices. Gameplay takes place at home, after dark, with the lights off and your headphones on.
Think about a system that understands where you are in your environment, and is able to exploit that information in order to create an unbelievable augmented reality experience.
Think about playing a game where the storyline involves you. Consider a future full of movies you star in, experiences that seem real, and scenarios, in our case, that are freakishly frightening.
This is in your house. This is in your apartment. This is in your environment.
This is Night Terrors.

The game controls what you see, what you hear, and where you go.  Your device's LED is all the light you get.  The camera and microphone feeds are analyzed and processed in real time.  Photorealistic elements are added to the camera feed.  Audio is spatialized, mixed with the microphone feed, and then routed to the headphones delivering an immersive binaural audio experience.

By using your camera phone, it makes a map of your entire home. Then it uses augmented reality to place nightmarish ghosts and demons on your phone to make them look like they are in your house. All players have to do is save a girl and survive. The real challenge of this is figuring out how to do that. For more information or to help fund the project click here

This is an ambitious game and it sounds absolutely amazing, and I can't wait to play it when it's available! Here's a video that explains the game.

James Bond and Mr. Hinx Race Through Rome in New SPECTRE Video Blog

Sony has released a new video blog from the set of Spectre, the highly-anticipated twenty-fourth film in the James Bond franchise. In it, we see footage of a car chase between Bond (Daniel Craig) and the henchman Mr. Hinx (Dave Bautista), as they race an Aston Martin DB10 and a Jaguar C-X75 through the streets of Rome at night. The studio also dropped two new photos, which you can see above and below.

I'm still on my mission of watching one Bond movie per month until this new one arrives in theaters, and I just finished the Timothy Dalton films and will be moving into the Pierce Brosnan era in May. As someone who loved Skyfall and has Daniel Craig ranked pretty high among actors who portrayed the famous super spy, I'm really looking forward to seeing how the story continues in Bond's newest adventure.

Spectre hits theaters across the world on November 6, 2015.

A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE. Sam Mendes returns to direct SPECTRE, with Daniel Craig reprising his role as 007 for the fourth time. SPECTRE is produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, from a script by John Logan and Neal Purvis & Robert Wade.

Brilliantly Designed Marvel-Themed Football Helmets

About a year ago, we wrote about some Star Wars-themed football helmets that were making the rounds. Logo designer Justin Kozisek saw that idea and decided to tweak it for the Marvel fans out there, so he created a bunch of brilliantly designed Marvel-themed helmets that are an awesome mix of real NFL teams and inspirations from the Marvel universe. I know there might not be the biggest crossover between people who love geek stuff and people who are super into watching professional football, but for those of you who do happen to fall in the middle of that Venn diagram, this should make your day.

A couple days ago some set photos surfaced of Jean Grey, Cyclops, and a few of the other characters from X-Men: Apocalypse. Director Bryan Singer has now offered an official look at Sophie Turner as Jean Grey and Lana Condor as Jubilee.

The image came with the caption, "Fun second day with @sophie_789 @lanacondor #JeanGrey #Jubilee #XMEN #XMenApocalypse."

The characters are rocking some very 1980s clothing styles. If there are two things I do not miss about the '80s, it's the clothes and hair styles. These actresses look great in their roles though.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to be released on May 27th, 2016.
