Postcards From Gotham City, King's Landing, and More Fictional Locations

I don't have any specific numbers to back this up, but I can't imagine that the postcard industry is booming right now. People hardly ever take the time to craft hand-written correspondence anymore, and I'm guessing if you showed a postcard to a group of kids, at least half of them wouldn't even know what the heck you were supposed to do with it. Nowadays, it's all about taking your own photos and blasting them all over social networks, and you can tag someone in it if you want to make sure they see it.

But what if you can't actually visit some destinations, but are wondering what the tourism market is like there? MyPrint247.co.uk is here to help, and they've sent us a link to some cool postcards they've designed for fictional places like Mos Eisley, Frozen's Arendelle, and more. Check them out below and let us know what you think.

The Evolution of DAREDEVIL's Suit Explained for Marvel's Series

Marvel's Daredevil series will start out with Matt Murdock going out and fighting crime in his original all-black costume. But it will eventually evolve into the outfit we all know and love. In a recent interview with Comics Continuum, showrunner Steven DeKnight explains the subtle evolution that the costume will go through in the highly anticipated Netflix series.

"He always wore a black mask that was tied in the back. We went through a lot of different versions and did a lot of R&D before settling on something. If you watch very closely, you'll see the outfit evolve subtly into what we call the black ninja suit. The mask changes. He starts wearing protective pads. Eventually it morphs into the classic suit, because he wouldn't be Daredevil without it. Getting there is part of the fun. The idea was to back the story up to the point before Matt is Daredevil. Then we could take him to a place where some version of the red suit works in a grounded world. The solution is very exciting and makes complete sense."

I saw several complaints from fans wondering why the series wasn't going to feature the iconic red costume. But since we've seen some footage from the series, those complaints have seemed to die down and fans are a little more understanding of why the show is starting off with the black ninja-style suit.

It makes sense that they are going this route. The good news is, he'll eventually evolve into the full-on kick-ass superhero sporting the red horns on his head. I'm excited to see what that's going to look like in this show.

All 13 episodes of Daredevil will be available to watch on Netflix beginning Friday, April 10th.

WALKING DEAD Creator Weighs In On The Marvel vs. DC Debate

There have been a lot of people weighing in with their thoughts on Marvel Cinematic Universe versus the DC Cinematic Universe. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, but it seems like the MCU is clearly winning the fight.

Marvel has The Avengers: Age of Ultron coming out this year and fanboys/fangirls around the world are foaming at the mouth for its release. In fact, Marvel's line-up for the next few years is pretty freaking amazing!

On the other hand, DC’s next big release is Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and there has been a mixed reaction from the masses. The biggest negative fan response came from the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman. That didn’t seem like that bad of a decision to me. Affleck fits perfectly into the mold that Snyder has set for his version of the DCCU. Based on what I have seen of the movie so far, which admittedly isn’t much, I don’t think we will be disappointed.

Despite my delusions of grandeur, my opinion does not matter as much as I would like to think it does. However, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is a man that has knowledge in not only the comic book world, but also in the transitions of comics to screen.

This year, Kirkman was at SXSW where he was a part of the “Creative Activism” panel. While talking about TWD companion series that is set to come out this summer, Kirkman was asked for his opinion on the MCU vs. DCCU debate, and this is what he had to say:

"I’m going to get in trouble here … Anyone would be foolish to think that Marvel hasn’t done something extremely special. I think of Iron Man ending with with a surprise cameo from Samuel L. Jackson [mentioning] The Avengers – you were like, ‘What?! How did that happen?!’ People forget that was a surprise. Everything that came out of that was very organic and very exciting. I think [DC] announcing you’re going to do a Justice League movie after a Superman movie, that was neat and had some awesome things in it, but it wasn’t like amazing or groundbreaking – I shouldn’t have said that. It was an awesome movie, I like it. [The plan] just seems derivative, so it puts them in a backseat position to Marvel. It’s not organic so there’s going to be so much scrutiny on Batman vs. Superman when it comes out. It’s got an uphill battle. If they hadn’t told anybody if the Justice League were going to appearing in that, and they were forming that, it would have been surprising and exciting and weird. People are forgetting how important the surprise is. But, you know, Aquaman looks awesome and I’m sure it will be great."

I completely agree with Kirkman, DC is trying too hard to play catch up and in that process they have shot themselves in the foot. I am not saying that they are going to fail, I just think they are making success a harder and harder thing for them to obtain. Not only are they revealing too much too soon, but I feel that they really dropped the ball as far as their TV series’ are concerned. I am a huge fan of both Arrow and The Flash. They are doing their fans a great disservice by not integrating those already-functioning worlds into the grand scheme of things. If you are not familiar with the series’ I suggest you give them both a try - totally worth it. Anyway, in my opinion, Grant Gustin is the perfect Barry Allen/The Flash. Why they recast the role of The Flash for the Justice League movie just baffles me. This disconnect they are causing with an already-existing successful franchise makes no sense.

Like I said before, my opinion doesn’t make much of a difference in grand scheme of things. Please, let me know what you think on this subject. Am I not seeing the big picture here? What have I missed? Is Kirkman off point here? Let us know.

A new teaser poster for the new James Bond film Spectre has been released, and it features Daniel Craig looking like a slick super-spy badass. The 24th Bond film is currently in production and being directed by Sam Mendes. The same team that brought us Skyfall is developing this new movie, and I think all of us fans are hoping that it will be just as awesome.

In the movie, a cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

Spectre also stars Ben Wishaw (Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, I’m Not There), Naomie Harris (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, 28 Weeks Later), Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Invisible Woman), Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained, Inglourious Basterds), Monica Bellucci (Irreversible, Malena), David Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Man with the Iron Fists), Léa Seydoux (Inglourious Basterds, Blue is the Warmest Color), Stephanie Sigman (Miss Bala, Pioneer), Andrew Scott (Locke, Sherlock), and Rory Kinnear (Quantum of Solace, The Imitation Game).

Spectre was written by John Logan and Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. It's set to hit theaters on November 6th, 2015.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! In celebration of the holiday, Screen Junkies has released an Honest Trailer for the classically awful Irish-themed horror film franchise Leprechaun. As they so eloquently put it, the film follows a group of characters who "team up to defeat evil the only way they know how... spending 90 minutes beating the shit out of respected English actor Warwick Davis." Enjoy your St. Patricks Day, everyone!

George R.R. Martin Skipping Comic-Con To Focus On WINDS OF WINTER

A lot of people have been up in arms about George R.R. Martin attending public events, giving late night TV interviews, and making appearances over the past year or so when they think he should be at home cranking out The Winds of Winter, the next book in his A Song of Ice and Fire series that provides the basis for HBO's wildly successful Game of Thrones. Well, it sounds like Martin has heard the grumbling, because he's announced on his website that he won't be attending this year's San Diego Comic-Con (which he's made appearances at for the past five years) and that he's also cancelling his appearance at the World Fantasy Convention in Saratoga, New York.

"I have too much to do. Too many things on my plate. Son of Kong foremost amongst them," he writes. (THR helpfully points out that Martin refers to The Winds of Winter as "Son of Kong" on his site as an inside joke.)

It sort of sucks that the fans won't be able to see him at either of those cons, but I'm guessing the reason they want to see him so badly is because of the books he's written, and they're probably going to appreciate the fact that he wants to finish the next one soon. (The previous book, A Dance With Dragons, was released in the United States in 2011.)

Perhaps the most interesting piece of Martin's announcement, though, is a caveat he provides at the very end of the post:

(Should I complete and deliver WINDS OF WINTER before these cons roll round, I reserve the right to change my mind).

The fact that he's even considering that he could finish the book as a possibility, however slim, is something that should make fans ecstatic. That means there's still the chance that we could actually have the new book in our hands by the end of 2015, which would make a lot of people very, very happy. I'm only a little ways into A Storm of Swords right now, so I still have a lot of catching up to do.

25 Actors Who Played Their Own Twin

$

We’ve already shined a light on actors who played their character’s children or ancestors. Now we’ve compiled a list of actors who have played their own twin. Some of these movies gave birth to breakthrough film technology and feature acting at its finest. Others have cheap effects and feature some of the worst performances ever committed to film — two of the movies hold the top spots for films with the most Razzie Awards. For some films, there is little to no interaction between the twins. On the other hand, most completely hinge on the characters being able to believably interact with each other. Join us as we explore the different approaches the actors and filmmakers took to achieve this illusion...

Danny Kaye - Wonder Man (1945)

In this musical, Danny Kaye plays opposite himself as the ghost of nightclub entertainer Buster Dingle who enlists his twin brother Edwin to deliver testimony against the mobster who had him murdered. The then groundbreaking effects, which allowed Kaye to interact as the twin brothers, earned the movie an Academy Award for Best Effects.

A Stolen Life (1946)

Dead Ringer (1964)

Screen legend Bette Davis was first tasked with playing twins in A Stolen Life, where she played sisters who are in love with the same man. 18 years later she would once again star opposite herself in the film Dead Ringer. Cinematographer Ernest Haller who, along with Sol Polito, developed the trick shots used in A Stolen Life, further improved upon those processes in this film. Instead of doing double exposure shots, Haller and Polito created a process that used mattes to mask over the face of Davis’ double for near seamless interactions between her two characters.

Olivia De Havilland - The Dark Mirror (1946)

Olivia De Havilland plays Ruth Collins in this film noir that begins with the murder of Ruth’s boyfriend. It seems like an open and shut case when witnesses place Ruth at the scene of the crime, but things are complicated when it’s revealed that she has a twin sister and that both have alibis. Clothing and jewelry are swapped between the twins for plot purposes, but De Havilland made Terry left-handed and the only one who smokes. There was also a 1984 made for TV remake of this classic film that starred Jane Seymour in the role of the twins.

Hayley Mills -  The Parent Trap (1961)

British teen sensation Hayley Mills’ followed up her performance in Pollyanna, which earned her the last Juvenile Oscar ever awarded, with this dual role as Susan Evers and Sharon McKendrick, twins separated as infants after their parents’ divorce. The illusion of Mills acting opposite herself was achieved by over-the-shoulder shots using a body double and a process using double exposure for scenes where both characters are facing the camera. After seeing how effective the double exposure shots were, Walt Disney asked the filmmakers to include more shots using that technique. Mills would reprise her role as the twins for the three subsequent television sequels.

Jeremy Irons - Dead Ringers (1988)

Jeremy Irons' performance as Beverly and Elliot Mantle, twins who stand in for each other in their profession as gynecologists and impulsively share lovers, is the dual performance by which all other dual performances are judged. Irons gave the brothers different “energy points," weighting one brother on the balls of his feet and the other on his heels, and developed different postures and voice modulations for each as well. The film also marks one of the first uses of computer-controlled moving-matte photography, which was used to pull off some of their onscreen interactions.

Double Impact (1991)

Maximum Risk (1996)

Jean-Claude Van Damme has had dual roles in five of his films. He fought back-to-back with himself in the 1994 time travel film Time Cop, and played multiple characters in Replicant and The Order, which both came out in 2001. Before all of those movies, though, JCVD played twins separated at birth in two ‘90s action movies, Double Impact and Maximum Risk.

Jackie Chan - Twin Dragons (1992)

In this Hong Kong action comedy Jackie Chan plays concert pianist Ma Yau and street racer Wan Ma, twin brothers separated at birth who, through a series of mishaps, become entangled in each other's lives. The only thing worse than the English dubs for this film is the physically impossible overlapping that takes place during Chan's onscreen interactions with himself. The effects are so haphazardly thrown together that his characters sometimes literally walk through parts of each other or their surroundings.

Ben Stiller - The Cable Guy (1996)

This was the second film Ben Stiller directed, and it starred Jim Carrey in the title role. It also featured Stiller as identical twins and former child actors Sam and Stan Sweet. Throughout the film, glimpses of the high profile murder trial for Sam, who is accused of shooting and killing his twin brother, are shown sporadically. The verdict of the trial is never revealed due to Carrey’s character falling and taking out the satellite broadcasting the trial. Eric Roberts also makes a cameo as himself in the film, playing the twins in a fictional made for TV movie about the case.

Mike Myers - Austin Powers (1997-2002)

While Mike Myers always played multiple roles throughout the Austin Powers franchise, it’s not until the third film, Austin Powers in Goldmember, that the resemblance Austin Powers and Dr. Evil share is explained: they are twin brothers who were separated as toddlers during an assassination attempt that killed their mother. Why Fat Bastard also bares a resemblance to them is never explained, nor is the reason this third film was made.

Lindsay Lohan -  The Parent Trap (1998)

For her first feature, Lindsay Lohan played the dual role of American Hallie Parker and British-raised Annie James, twins separated as infants who are reunited by chance at a summer camp. This was quite a tall order for the then 11-year-old, especially considering Hayley Mills was 15 and had already earned an Oscar when she starred in the original Parent Trap, but Lohan seemed to effortlessly juggle both roles and accents. She would go on to have dual roles in two more films: the 2003 remake of Freaky Friday and...

I Know Who Killed Me (2007)

While Lohan garnered critical and commercial success with her previous outings in dual roles, her turn as Aubrey Fleming and Dakota Moss — stigmatic twins with a psychic connection who were separated at birth — earned the actress Razzies for Worst Actress and Worst Couple. I Know Who Killed Me held the record for most Razzie “wins” in one year, until a later entry on this list dethroned it.

Leonardo Di Caprio - The Man in the Iron Mask (1998)

The only way to feed the fires of fan worship garnered from starring in Romeo and Juliet and Titanic was to follow those up with a film that had not one Leonardo DiCaprio, but two. As Beau Bridges did in the 1979 film The Fifth Musketeer, DiCaprio plays King Louis XIV and his identical twin Philippe in The Man in the Iron Mask. While DiCaprio has had countless Oscar-worthy performances since, and had his co-star and dual role master Jeremy Irons on set, his performance ultimately earned the actor a Razzie for Worst Screen Couple for his interactions as the twins.

Eddie Murphy - Bowfinger (1999)

Playing multiple roles in his films has become a trademark for Eddie Murphy. He’s taken on multiple characters in eight of his films, including Coming to America (1988), Vampire in Brooklyn (1995), The Nutty Professor (1996), Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (2000), The Adventures of Pluto Nash (2002), Norbit (2007), and Meet Dave (2008). Rounding out that list is this comedy with Steve Martin playing a director who shoots a movie starring action-star Kit Ramsey, who doesn’t realize he’s a part of the movie. Murphy stars as Kit, as well as his non-actor twin brother Jiff, who Martin uses as Kit's double to complete scenes.

Nicolas Cage - Adaptation (2002)

To play screenwriter Charlie Kaufman and his fictional twin brother Donald in Spike Jonze’s dizzying meta masterpiece, Nicolas Cage would often act opposite his own brother Marc Coppola, who stood in for Cage for scenes in the movie where the Kaufman brothers interact but both of their faces aren’t seen. Along with Kaufman's fake brother receiving a credit for writing the film (and an Academy Award nomination), Cage was also given completely separate credits for each character, appearing twice in the closing credits since they are listed in order of appearance.

Chris Rock - Bad Company (2002)

Director Joel Schumacher and producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s predictable and universally panned action-comedy starred Chris Rock as Kevin Pope and Jake Hayes, twins separated at birth. When Pope, an undercover CIA operative, is killed during a mission, Hayes is recruited to pose as his brother and complete his mission. The film was originally to be titled Black Sheep, but was changed to avoid confusion with the 1996 comedy that starred Rock’s SNL castmates Chris Farley and David Spade.

James Carpinello - The Punisher (2004)

In this early 2000s comic book adaptation, James Carpinello takes on the roles of twins Bobby and John Saint. When a deal set up by undercover FBI agent Frank Castle (Thomas Jane) leads to Bobby's death, his twin brother murders Castle’s family in revenge. John Travolta played the father of the twins. Coincidentally, Carpinello had made his Broadway debut years earlier in a production of Saturday Night Fever in the role of Manero, which is the role Travolta played in the movie.

Rachel Weisz - Constantine (2005)

For director Francis Lawrence's adaptation of HellblazerRachel Weisz teamed back up with her Chain Reaction co-star Keanu Reeves and starred as Angela Dodson, an LAPD detective who enlists occult expert John Constantine (Reeves) to help her investigate the suicide of her twin sister, Isabel. Instead of using split screen or matte methods for the part in the film where Angela comes to the scene of her sister’s suicide, a life-size replica of Weisz was made that the actress could freely interact with.

Christian Bale - The Prestige (2006)

It’s only in the final moments of Christopher Nolan’s masterfully woven drama that it’s revealed that Christian Bale’s character Alfred Borden is in fact Alfred and Frederick Borden, two identical twins leading one life to protect the simple secret to their trick "The Transported Man." So you have to rewatch the movie to appreciate the subtle differences in Bale’s performances as each brother, which particularly differ in their interactions with their wife (Rebecca Hall) and mistress (Scarlett Johansson) — with one brother loving one and the other brother loving the other.

Paul Dano - There Will Be Blood (2007)

While Daniel Day-Lewis had a year to prepare for his Oscar-winning turn as maniacal oil tycoon Daniel Plainview in Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood, Paul Dano had mere days to prepare for his role as evangelical preacher Eli Sunday. Dano was initially only supposed to play the small role of Eli’s brother Paul Sunday. However, when Kel O’Neill, the original actor cast as Eli dropped out in the middle of filming, Dano took over the role and the characters were rewritten as identical twin brothers.

Freddie Highmore - The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008)

Not only were Irish actress Sarah Bolger and British actor Freddie Highmore tasked with perfecting American accents, the young leads spent most scenes in front of blue screens fighting nonexistent creatures for their roles in director Mark Waterseffects heavy adaptation of The Spiderwick Chronicles. Furthermore, Highmore had to develop unique speech patterns for his dual role as twin brothers Jared and Simon Grace.

Edward Norton - Leaves of Grass (2009)

Writer-director Tim Blake Nelson wrote his offbeat thriller with Edward Norton in mind for the roles of identical twins Bill and Brady Kincaid. Norton took a drastic pay cut to play the parts, and sought to go for a level of interplay between his two characters beyond what had been done before with actors playing opposite themselves. Norton's nuanced performances earned praise across the board, but the film received mixed reviews.

Sam Worthington - Avatar (2009)

For Sam Worthington’s dual role as Jake Sully and his deceased twin brother whom he replaces in the avatar program, he simply had to lay down and close his eyes as Jake identifies his brother’s body. However, the actor and his castmates spent much or all of their time acting in skin-tight motion capture suits with cameras mounted to their heads to portray the Na'vi-human hybrids and the Pandora natives. James Cameron’s blockbuster still holds the record as the highest grossing film to date, followed by Titanic, which was also directed by Cameron.

Armie Hammer - The Social Network (2010)

Armie Hammer’s performance as Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss is perhaps the most seamless portrayal of twins we’ve ever seen on screen. Unable to find identical twin actors suitable for the roles of the real-life identical twins, director David Fincher used traditional split-screen work and more sophisticated techniques that involved pasting a computer generated model of Hammer’s face onto actor Josh Pence’s body. Prior to filming, Hammer and Pence spent 10 months studying each other’s body movements to further sell the illusion and build a brotherly rapport.

Matt Lucas - Alice in Wonderland (2010)

In order to play the proverbial pair of Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Matt Lucas and his double, Ethan Cohn, wore oversized pear-shaped motion capture suits and walked on stilts. They would do a scene and then switch places and do the scene again. The bizarre and disturbing final product consisted of both of Lucas' facial performances composited onto fully animated bodies.

Adam Sandler - Jack and Jill (2011)

Speaking of bizarre and disturbing. Adam Sandler’s performances as Jack and his twin sister Jill “won” the comedian Razzie Awards for both Worst Actor and Worst Actress. The movie holds the record for Razzies with its clean sweep of all the categories for 10 total awards. The previous record of 8 awards was held by Lindsay Lohan's aforementioned film, I Know Who Killed Me.

Rob Riggle - Dumb and Dumber To (2014)

Though Rob Riggle didn’t have to act opposite himself to portray the scheming housekeeper Travis and his twin brother Captain Lippincott in this sequel to Dumb and Dumber, he did have to spend around 7 hours getting body make-up applied for the Captain Lippincott camouflage scenes. Riggle used tricks learned while he was a U.S. Marine to endure the hours of make-up application that required him to stand perfectly in place.

This image offers us our first look at Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic. The image is of a vintage-looking advertisement featuring Jobs promoting Apple's NeXT line of computers.

Steve Jobs is being directed by Danny Boyle, and a month ago some photos from the set surfaced showing off the actual garage where Jobs started his company.

Aaron Sorkin wrote the script for the movie, and the story will be divided into three acts that detail Jobs preparing for three presentations that came to define his life and the life of the company he co-founded, lost, and came back to. Those presentations will include the Mac in 1984, the NeXT in 1997, and it will end with the unveiling of the iPod in 2001.

The film also stars Seth Rogen, Jeff Daniels, Michael Stuhlbarg, Katherine Waterston, and more. Universal Pictures will release the film on October 9th.

Infographic: How The Millennium Falcon Fits In To STAR WARS

Like most of you, I was thrilled to find out that the Millennium Falcon is going to be a part of the upcoming sequel Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The ship has such a storied history in the Star Wars universe, and it's one of the most iconic designs in science fiction history. There were rumors that one of the standalone films might center on how Han Solo won the ship from Lando Calrissian (which is referenced briefly in the original trilogy), but that was a long time ago and we haven't heard anything concrete since. (I'm guessing that won't be involved in the plot of Star Wars: Rogue One.)

StarWars7News pointed us to this cool infographic that details the history of the Falcon and tracks its whereabouts throughout the original trilogy. Star Wars fans will already know all of the information presented, but it's still cool to see all it laid out like this. Check out the full infographic below.

A&E is Adapting Vampire Drama LET THE RIGHT ONE IN For TV

Tomas Alfredson's 2008 Swedish drama Let The Right One In is a contemplative, moody romance about a boy who falls in love with his neighbor, who happens to be a vampire. It's sweet, charming, bleak, and violent - adjectives that might not sound like they go together, but somehow fit well for this particular story. Released at the start of Twilight fever, this was a refreshing antidote to the idiocy of that franchise. If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend giving it a watch.

And because the entertainment industry is officially out of ideas, A&E is now remaking it for television. THR has the news, which says that Teen Wolf showrunner Jeff Davis and actor/screenwriter Brandon Boyce will be the minds behind this adaptation, which is surprising - I would have pegged former LOST showrunner Carlton Cuse as the brainchild behind this, since he's already producing two remakes - Bates Motel (technically a prequel) and The Returned - for the network.

But here's the thing: this movie has already been remade for American audiences. It was called Let Me In, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves directed it back in 2010. Was it as good as the original? Not quite, but it was pretty solid for a Hollywood-ized adaptation, and I thought the vampire craze was at least temporarily on its way out. I suppose, like one of the plot points in the original movie, Hollywood wants to hang this project by its feet and suck all of the life out of it.

Spider-Woman #5 Review: When Back To Basics Isn't A Bad Thing

Writer: Dennis Hopeless

Artist: Javier Rodriguez

Inker: Alvaro Lopez

Issue #5 of Spider-Woman sees Jessica trying to adapt to a new way of life, sans Avengers, Shield, and Skrulls. We also see the debut of her shiny new costume, which trades in the pure spandex for a more modern and stylish jacket, pants, and shades combination. This is a huge visual upgrade, and gives the character an edginess at a glance that she was missing before. Admittedly I am still a huge fan of the original outfit, but there is room for change, and I like the direction the costume and the book are heading.

spider-woman-5-panel.jpeg

Dennis Hopeless has crafted a great entry point into Spider-Woman’s world with this issue. It sums up what has been going on previously in just a few panels, and sets the stage of what is to come by issue's end quite nicely. Jessica Drew is having to shake off some rust when it comes to street level crime fighting, which is something you don’t think about a great deal, but when you are used to having the abundant resources of SHIELD at your disposal 24/7 and a pinch hit from Black Widow or Captain America is just a phone call away, it would make sense that life without those things would take some adjustment. The relationship she starts to build with Ben Urich is promising, and I hope that this really continues to grow into a, as she puts it, Sherlock Holmes and Watson type thing.

Speaking of dynamic, the word perfectly describes Javier Rodriguez's pencils and colors. He’s able to capture the wall to wall bounce of her movements effortlessly, and that sense of motion leaps off the page. Dialogue is only aided by his lovely work with facial expressions, and to say I hope the team stays together for a while is an understatement. Under all the super heroics is a good old fashioned Dateline style mystery, just involving villains that have names like Porcupine and Big Wheel.

Oh, by the way, seriously? Who originally named these people? Its funny and ironic now, but at one point someone actually named their characters things like Big Wheel and expected them to be taken seriously.

Moving on now. Overall I love the new direction, and can’t wait to see more from this creative team.

You can read Issue 5 now, and Issue 6 releases on April 8th.

STAR WARS: AFTERMATH Will Tell Us What Happens After RETURN OF THE JEDI

As you've already heard, Lucasfilm is releasing a series of 20 new books this year ranging from novels to comics and more. These will all give us a history that connects Return of the Jedi to J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Lucasfilm and Del Rey Books have revealed another title in this series called Star Wars: Aftermath, which is the first book in a new trilogy that will give us a direct connection from Return of the Jedi  to The Force Awakens. The book is being written by Chuck Wendig, and this is what he had to say in a statement:

“My earliest — and still one of my best — movie-going experiences as a kid was being a four-year-old watching The Empire Strikes Back at a drive-in theater with my sister…My jaw dropped and I don’t think I’ve found it, yet. Those movies opened up a world for me, and my love of storytelling comes from them and from the galaxy of smaller, connected stories, too — from the toys to the games to the books. In fact, one of the first novels I ever read was the novelization of A New Hope. I have a son who will in a few short months be my age when I saw Empire, so to be involved with the Star Wars universe just as the new film is coming out — it feels like not only something akin to kismet, but a great and powerful privilege.”

Here's an official description of the story that it will tell:

The second Death Star has been destroyed. Rumors are flying that the Emperor and his enforcer, Darth Vader, are dead. A new government is forming to replace the Empire. But the galaxy is a big place, and the fallout of this cataclysm will affect different worlds in different ways. Does everyone accept the fall of Imperial rule? Has everyone even heard the life-altering news? What rushes in to fill the vacuum the Empire has left? And who will try to stop them?

The story will both a new cast of characters, along with a fan favorite from the original films. It will also tease a few for the upcoming movie.

I'm actually really excited to read these books to see where this new Star Wars canon of storytelling is going. Star Wars: Aftermath is set debut this September. You can pre-order your copy by clicking here.

As many of you are probably preparing to head toward the local pub to celebrate St. Patrick's Day (if you aren't there already), I want to leave you with a quick supercut from The Telegraph (via The Playlist) that features their selections for the worst Irish accents on film. And while some of these are pretty awful - what in God's name was Pierce Brosnan doing in that last clip? - I have to admit, many of them don't sound too terribly embarrassing to me.

Perhaps it's because I'm not Irish and I've never visited Ireland (something I hope to change in the next couple of years - the "visiting" part, not the "being Irish" part), but I guess I just can't differentiate the subtle nuances of the accent like the people who made this video. What do you think? Do you have any additional offenders that didn't make the cut?

Miles Teller Says The FANTASTIC FOUR Will Wear Their Classic Costumes

We've seen the first teaser, we've heard from the producer and director, and we've seen some photos, but Josh Trank's Fantastic Four is still one of this year's potential blockbusters that we know the least about. One of the things that a lot of fans have been wondering about is the costumes, which - from what we've seen so far - are leaning toward a more functional design than the classic look from the comics, dubbed "containment suits." But though that may be the case, one of the film's stars says we can expect to see the team suit up with the classic familiar costumes before the film is over.

Screencrush caught up with Whiplash star Miles Teller (who plays Reed Richard/Mr. Fantastic) recently, and Teller had this to say:

These are the beta versions of the costumes, which is great [...] But, yeah it would be very odd if the Fantastic Four didn't don the traditional costumes. You've got to. There is some servicing there. You've got to give that to the fans. That's what it's all about.

I'm sure those fans who were hoping for a more traditional take on the material will at least be happy that they'll be able to see the characters rock the classic blue suits, but I think for many people the verdict is still out when it comes to Trank's reboot. I now find myself in the weird place of looking forward to this movie more than a lot of hardcore FF fans, even though I was only lukewarm about Trank's previous film, Chronicle. Still, I think he's a director with loads of promise, and I'm excited to see what he does with this film when it hits theaters on August 7th.

And the Fantastic Four aren't the only ones who will be sporting a familiar look: just this morning, we wrote about how we'll see Matt Murdock suit up in the traditional red Daredevil suit by the time the Netflix series comes to the end of its first season.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Caused The Creation of BREAKING BAD's Mike Ehrmentraut

Here's a weird story for you. How the heck is How I Met Your Mother responsible for the creation of Mike Ehrmentraut, the stone-faced fixer played by Jonathan Banks on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul? According to a new Rolling Stone interview with Saul himself, actor Bob Odenkirk, it was because he was booked on the sitcom and the Breaking Bad writers needed a way to deliver some key exposition while he was temporarily out of the picture.

“I promise you I thought I was up for three episodes of Breaking Bad — well, they wanted me for four, but I could only do three ’cause I was in How I Met Your Mother. They actually added the character of Mike because I couldn’t make that fourth week, and they needed another character to get that information across, so that’s amazing right there.”

I knew that series creator Vince Gilligan initially planned on killing off Jesse Pinkman in season one of Breaking Bad, but I had no idea that the creation of Mike stemmed from the existence of Ted, Robin, Barney, Marshall, and Lily. That's crazy - I wonder what kind of long term effect that one scheduling conflict had. We've already seen how it played out in Breaking Bad, but will Mike become an even bigger presence in Better Call Saul as the show moves toward its first season finale and into its second season? I'm guessing the answer is yes, so we'll probably have to thank HIMYM again every time Mike does something awesome as the series goes on.

Full PIXELS Trailer: Video Game Characters Attack New York City

Here's the first full trailer for Pixels, the new film that stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Peter Dinklage, and Josh Gad as a group of gamers who are tasked with saving the world from invading aliens in the form of '80s video game characters. It looks pretty much exactly how you'd think something with that cast involved would look, complete with the hit-or-miss jokes (mostly miss), but the visual effects look incredible. It just might be worth putting up with lame jokes and a ludicrous story just to see those classic characters come to life and destroy a the world. Pixels arrives on July 24th, 2015. Check it out below.

There's also a quick frame inserted at the 1:38 mark that you can see below:

It directs you to a website that talks up Ashley Benson's character, even having a fake video game trailer for the game her character is supposed to inhabit.

Anyway, I'm interested to hear what you guys think about this trailer. Let us know in the comments.

BLUE THUNDER Is the Next '80s Film to get the Remake Treatment

Columbia Pictures is set to develop a remake of the 1983 action thriller Blue Thunder. The original movie focused on a high-tech experimental helicopter and a police pilot who learns of the sinister implications of the vehicle. It was configured for law enforcement to use in combat against possible large-scale civil disobedience during the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

It’s been forever since I’ve seen this movie, but I remember liking it. The script for the film is being written by Craig Kyle, who is an ex-Marvel Studios executive currently scripting Thor: Ragnarok.

The remake will feature a modern day take on the story, and will focus on the world's most advanced drone technology. There are a couple of other drone type films in development, including Ethan Hawke’s Good Kill and director Gavin Hood’s Eye in the Sky. The Top Gun sequel that has been in development over the last few years is also said to be about drones.

The original movie was directed by John Balham (WarGames) and starred Roy Scheider (Jaws). This has potential to be a pretty cool flick, but I doubt they'll get anyone as awesome as Scheider to take on the lead role.

If you’re a fan of Blade Runner, you’ve got to check out this massive gallery of photos. They give us a behind-the-scenes look at the models that were made to help bring this Ridley Scott-directed classic sci-fi film to life. It’s amazing to see all these incredibly crafted miniature models with all of the amazing details. I really hope that some of these still exist somewhere in the world. It’d be a shame if they got scrapped after the movie.

mortal-kombat-x-johnny-cage-trailer-all-characters-and-achievements-revealed

There’s a ton of hype building for Mortal Kombat X, and it continues with the released of a new trailer that focuses on Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade. The trailer also manages to sneak in a new classic character who will be in the game. That character is Kenshi, who was first introduced into the franchise in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. He is a blind swordsman who relies on his mastery of his sword as well as his telekinetic power in battle.

As for Sonya and Johnny, they are still working together to save Earth. The two have been been married and divorced in the franchise, and it looks like they’ll be doing a lot of comedic bickering in this upcoming game. Who knows, maybe it will lead to them getting back together. They also have an adult daughter named Cassie Cage who will also be a part of the game.

The launch of Mortal Kombat X is about a month away, and I’ve also included a list confirming all of the characters that will be included in the game for its initial launch, as well as the achievements that you will be able to unlock. You will find those under the trailer.

Classic Characters

Ermac - Ermac is a ninja built from the lost souls of many Outworld warriors. This soul energy allows him to levitate and toss his opponent around the map.

Jax - Major Jackson "Jax" Briggs is a Special Forces operative whose cybernetic arms enhance his considerable brute strength.

Johnny Cage - Cage is an action movie star well-versed in many fighting styles. He can empower many of his attacks with shadow energy.

Kano - Kano, a shady arms dealer, uses many high-tech weapons to give him an edge in battle.

Kenshi - Kenshi may be blind but his telekinetic skills and magic sword more than compensate for his handicap.

Kitana - Princess Kitana uses her Steel Fans as a ranged and melee weapon in combat.

Kung Lao - Kung Lao is a former Shaolin monk who supplements his martial arts with his razor-lined hat.

Mileena - Mileena is a clone of Kitana created for Shao Khan. Her signature weapons are a pair of sais.

Quan Chi - Quan Chi is one of the mightiest sorcerers in existence and can hypnotize or damage his opponents with his dark magic.

Raiden - As the God of Thunder, Raiden can call on lightning and wind to achieve victory.

Reptile - This lizard-like ninja is unquestionably loyal to Kotal Kahn.

Scorpion - Scorpion is an undead assassin brought back to life by Quan Chi's dark magic.

Shinnok - Shinnok was once an Elder God. Mimicking other fighters' moves is one of his many abilities.

Sonya Blade - Sonya doesn't have the supernatural abilities of many other fighters so she instead relies on hand-to-hand combat skills refined through years of Special Forces work.

Sub-Zero - Sub-Zero is a warrior who can create ice and use it to deadly effect in battle.

New Characters

Cassie Cage - Cassie Cage, the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, followed her mom into Special Forces. She uses two pistols in combat along with a nightstick.

D'Vorah - D'Vorah is an insect-like warrior who can summon wasps and other bugs and use them as weapons.

Erron Black - Erron is a gunslinging mercenary from Earthrealm who now serves Kotal Kahn.

Ferra & Torr - Ferra is a small, clawed creature that rides on the bank of the muscular beast Torr.

Jacqui Briggs - Jacqui, like her father Jax, is a Special Forces member. She wears mechanical gauntlets to make her punches even more damaging than usual.

Kotal Kahn - Kotal Kahn, a warrior with superhuman strength and mastery over blood magic, is fighting Mileena for control of Outworld.

Kung Jin - This mysterious ally of Cassie and Jacqui can use a simple bow and arrow to deadly effect in battle.

Takeda Takahashi - Takeda is the son of Kenshi and a pupil of Scorpion. He's skilled with both a whip and katana.

DLC Characters

Goro - This four-armed brute uses his extra limbs to easily grapple and pummel opponents. He's exclusively available for Mortal Kombat X pre-order customers at launch but might also be sold separately later on.

Jason Voorhees - Jason, the machete-wielding star of the Friday the 13th movies, is one of four characters included with MKX's Kombat Pack.

Custom made Nintendo Entertainment Systems are blowing up on the web. We’ve previously showed you the Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters and a retro toaster. Now we bring you the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles party wagon NES! it was created by Ryan Fitzpatrick, and this is what he had to say about it:

"The head lights and passenger compartment light up, the guns, radar, and armored windshield are moveable and removable, new ‘glass’ windows, new steering wheel, and more.
"The power and audio/video cables plug into jacks mounted on the back of the van. The POWER and RESET buttons are located on top just in front of the TOP LOADING cart slot. The controller ports are built into the side door.
"Leonardo is at the wheel while Michelangelo eats pizza and plays with his nunchucku sitting shotgun.
"Matching custom painted controllers with unique overlays mimic the design and color palette of the van. The paint is all professional automotive base coat clear coat system. The clear coat was color sanded and buffed just like you would do on a show car!"

As you can see in the photos, it turned out totally awesome!
