Bill Murray calls GHOSTBUSTERS 3 a Possibility!

$

So after Dan Aykroyd came out and said that Ghostbusters 3 was in "suspended animation." The studio, the director Ivan Reitman and producer Harold Ramis feel, "there must be a way to do it, but Bill Murray will not do the movie. He doesn't want to be involved." But now Murray has come out and said that the movie is actually a possibility for him!

He recently participated in an interview with WGNTV, and he was asked about the possibility of participating in the long awaited third Ghostbusters film. He responded with a short and simple answer... "well, it's a possibility."

So it doesn't sound like he's completely counted himself out yet, which is great news! Either Murray is just being polite and doesn't want to get into a discussion about it, or there's actually a chance that the movie could move forward with him attached.

It's crazy seeing how no one seems to be on the same page about Murray's involvement with Ghostbusters 3, even Murray is contradicting himself at times! He's probably doing it on purpose. Fact of the matter is, they can't make the movie without him.

Wish.co.uk are masters at making zombie fans' dreams come true. Last year, they offered a boot camp for $90 dollars that allowed people to participate in a "Zombie Survival" training program. This year, they are taking things to a level far above and beyond anything you can imagine. For around $200 dollars and a trip to Reading, Britain, you and a group get a 2.5 hour zombie battle in an abandoned shopping mall. Pretty awesome right? Watch the video and read on.

While they can't eat your brains, you do sign off for the zombies to swarm you and hold you down, and ammo is limited so needless to say there will be some high pressure situations.

Would you drop the cash to do this? I know I would!

WRECK-IT RALPH Poster Debuts

$

The last time Disney delved into the world of video games were in the films Tron and Tron: Legacy. Both were adventurous but perhaps a bit too serious for their own good. With Wreck-It Ralph, Disney harkens back to the days of 8-bit video games in this parody of “Super Mario Bros.”

The story revolves around video game bad guy Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly), who is constantly angry when his good-guy nemesis, Fix-It Felix (voiced by Jack McBrayer), disrupts his sleep with his building construction. All Ralph wants is the glory and fame that Felix gets and not be hated. If he has to become a good guy in another game, why not?

The film promises to have a depiction of various video game worlds and styles of animation from 8-bit to the full-on photo-realistic shooters of today. The film will also feature cameos with other famous characters. This is Walt Disney Feature Animation’s follow-up to Tangled (and to a lesser extent, Winnie-the Pooh), which excites me that this film about video games joins the hallowed ranks of such films as Snow WhiteBeauty and the Beast and The Lion King. Hopefully, with a possible trailer attached to another Disney film (The Avengers), we'll be able to see Ralph in all his 8-bit glory!

Watch LOOPER Trailer with Director Commentary

Did you see the new trailer for Rian Johnson's Looper last week? I don't know how you could have missed it, but I think we can all agree that it looks like an awesome movie! The film's writer and director hooked up with MTV to give fans some great commentary on the trailer. As you watch, you can really get a sense of how excited he is for people to see the movie. He talks about how fun it was making the movie, and what we can expect to see from it.

Looper is one of my most anticipated films of the year. It's great to see an awesome looking original story find its way to the big screen. It's a rare thing these days in Hollywood, but there are a few great filmmakers that can pull it off... Johnson is one of them. This guy has an incredible filmmaking future.

Here's the Official Synopsis:

In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market.  When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up.  Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.  The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels.  Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.

Looper arrives in theaters on September 28th, 2012. Where does this movie rank on your most anticipated movies list?

EVIL DEAD 2 - Awesome Rotoscoped Version of the Original Trailer

Pretend For Real Studios has taken the original trailer for Sam Raimi's Evil Dead 2, and has given it a hyper-stylized, cartoonish look of awesomeness. The effect was done by using the rotoscoping technique. The trailer apparently took about 400 hours to complete, but it turned out extremely cool! The rotoscoped trailer has a very vibrant feel to it that I love, and it would be cool to watch the entire movie in this style. Check out the trailer, and let us know if you'd like to see the whole movie rotoscoped like this!

Thanks to Twitch we can bring you this new international Russian trailer for Ridley Scott's Prometheus. Yeah, the movie looks incredible, and the trailer offers up a few very brief new clips from the film. The whole trailer is dubbed in Russian, but it's still cool to watch!

Here's the Synopsis:

Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Prometheus was written by Damon Lindelof and Jon Spaihts and stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron,Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Guy Pearce, and Patrick Wilson.

The movie is set to be released on June 8th, 2012. I hope Scott starts to make more sci-fi movies after this.

For those of you who missed Saturday Night Live this last weekend, Steven Spielberg made a funny cameo appearance in a Laser Cats digital short. In the sketch the director pitches a Laser Cats 7 idea to SNL producer Lorne Michaels. The video pitch includes a lot of great parody stuff from many of Spielberg's earlier films. It's great to see Spielberg poking fun at himself and his films. Enjoy the short!

Tom Hardy Compares The Joker to Bane

$

After we witnessed Heath Ledger bring the Joker to life, we didn't think another villain could be brought in and out-do him. Even though I think Tom Hardy is really going to bring the pain though with Bane, these are two completely different villains. It's not that one will be batter than the other, I think they'll be as equally badass in their own unique way. Hardy recently did an interview with EW in which he compares Joker and Bane saying,

The Joker didn’t care. He just wanted to see the world burn, and he was a master of chaos and destruction, unscrupulous and crazy. Bane is not that guy. There is a very meticulous and calculated way about Bane. There is a huge orchestration of organization to his ambition. He is also a physical threat to Batman. There is nothing vague about Bane. No jokes. He’s a very clean, clear villain.

I can't really argue with what he had to say here because he's absolutely right, and I can't wait to see Christopher Nolan's Bane explode on the big screen! Hardy went on to discuss the voice of Bane and where they came up with it. The actor...

...wanted to develop a distinctive voice, one that evoked (albeit elliptically) the comic book character’s erudition and ethnic heritage (Bane hails from a fictional Caribbean country). Hardy sought a sound befitting a man steeped in malevolence and old soul wisdom and who could trace his roots to ancient Latin culture. “There were two doors we could walk through,” says Hardy. “We could play a very straightforward villain or we could go through this very quirky door, which is totally justified by the text but may seem very, very stupid.” Not surprisingly, Hardy decided to go for the second option. “It’s a risk, because we could be laughed at—or it could be very fresh and exciting,” he says. While some found his dialogue incomprehensible in the IMAX-exclusive sneak peek attached to Mission: Impossible—Ghost Protocol last December, the actor asks for patience. “The audience mustn’t be too concerned about the mumbly voice,” says Hardy. “As the film progresses, I think you’ll be able to tune to its setting.”

I have absolutely no issues with the voice Hardy uses for Bane. I'm extremely excited for the movie and I have no doubt that Nolan is going to end his Batman trilogy with explosive epicness. Any thoughts on Hardy's comments here?

Emily Blunt to Join Tom Cruise in ALL YOU NEED IS KILL

$

It looks like director Doug Liman has found his female lead in the upcoming sci-fi film All You Need is Kill. Warner Bros. is in talks with Emily Blunt to take on a co-starring role in the movie opposite Tom Cruise.

The movie is an adaptation of Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, and it's been described as a sci-fi version of Goundhog Day.  The story follows a soldier in a war against aliens who finds himself reliving his last day in the battle over and over again after being killed. Because of this, he's able to become a better soldier. Here's the description of the story:
There's one thing worse than dying. It's coming back to do it again and again... When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the B*tch of War. Is the B*tch the key to Keiji's escape, or to his final death?

Variety reports Blunt plays another soldier who fights alongside Cruise. Blunt is a great actress, and if this deal officially goes down, I have no doubt that she'll be awesome! She'll be seen later this year in Rian Johnson's badass looking sci-fi film Looper

All You Need is Kill sounds like it will be an incredible movie that many of us will enjoy watching. I'm excited to see how it turns out visually.  What do you think of Blunt as an actress?

STAR TREK 2 Set Photo of Spock Wearing a Volcano Suit

Here's a photo from the set of Star Trek 2 featuring Zachary Quinto as Spock in an interesting looking suit dangling from some wires in front of a green screen. I've got to say, that Quinto looks incredibly uncomfortable wearing this suit that looks like it was built by Tony Stark. The suit is called a Volcano Suit and can obviously withstand insanely hot temperatures. Here's a note that came along with the photo.

After first rehearsing the scene with Spock's stunt double actor, Zachary Quinto was then rigged to a wire in front of a large green screen and lifted to a height of 10 stories high then dropped at a high rate of speed as if he was falling. In the scene Spock is wearing a 'Volcano Suit' and carrying an unknown piece of equipment with the Starfleet emblem. A volcano is somehow involved in this scene. The crew had a real fire burning off camera to catch the fire reflections on Spock's 'Volcano Suit'.

Well, whatever Spock is doing dropping into some kind of intergalactic volcano, lets hope if works. Do any of you have any ideas on what Spock is trying to do here?

Jennifer Connelly to Join Darren Aronofsky's NOAH

$
0
0

According to a recent report, actress Jennifer Connelly is in negotiations to re-team with director Darren Aronofsky and Russell Crowe in the big-budget biblical movie Noah. Connelly worked with Aronofsky in Requiem For a Dream and with Crowe in A Beautiful Mind. If she's cast, she'll play Noan's wife, Naameh. Connelly is a beautiful, talented actress, who I'm sure will end up being great in the movie.

It's also reported that Hanna star Saoirse Ronan is in talks to join the movie as well, but there's no word on what character she'll play. Perhaps she'll be one of the wives of Noah's three sons?

As we previously reported, this is a project that Aronofsky has been very passionate about. He's already made a comic book adaptation. According to the director, the inspiration for Noah came from a 1976 Sunn Pictures documentary called In Search of Noah's Ark that he watched when he was kid, and became a "huge fan" of. Here's what Aronofsky had to say about the film project in a few different interviews,

Noah was the first person to plant vineyards and drink wine and get drunk. It’s there in the Bible - it was one of the first things he did when he reached land. There was some real survivor’s guilt going on there. He’s a dark, complicated character. The tragedies we perform on each other are so well reported. Quite clearly, the planet is dying, and we are dying on it.

I was stunned going back and realizing how dirty some of those stories are. They're not PG in any way. They're all about sleeping with your brother's sister who gives you a child who you don't know. That kind of stuff got censored out of our religious upbringing.

Here's some more information on discussing the villain that Noah will be encountering:

...there's a big villain part, gotta have a villain in the story of Noah," Wells added. "Someone who's saying 'Listen, don't listen to him. We're fine! We don't need to build any ark. Don't be so alarmist! Don't be so fundamentalist.' You know? One of those guys. So it sounded like a lot of fun, actually.

I'm a big fan of Aronofsky and his work, and it's going to be so cool to see how he handles the material. This is sure to turn out to be an epic film.

Julianne Moore to Join CARRIE Remake as Crazy Mother

$

0

Last month it was rumored that Julianne Moore was in the running to take on the role of the insane mother in the Kim Peirce directed remake of Stephen King's Carrie. Chloe Moretz is already attached to take on the title role, and Moore is currently in talks to take on the role of Margaret White, creepily played by Piper Laurie in the 1976 movie. I can easily see Moore in this role, there's no doubt she would be scary as hell as an insane religious fanatic.

The horror thriller focuses on a misunderstood teenage girl named Carrie White, and her extraordinary telekinetic powers, which leads her on a violent rampage of bloody revenge. High school can be a brutal place, but don't mess with the little girl that can kill you with her mind.

The original film was directed by Brian De Palma and starred Sissy Spacek, John Travolta, Amy Irving and Piper Laurie. This latest big screen version of the story is supposed to be more faithful to the King book than the original movie.

Can you see Moore taking on this part?

Details Revealed for Steve Jobs Movie with Ashton Kutcher

$
0
0

I'm not sold on Ashton Kutcher playing Steve Jobs in this new biopic being developed. Sure he looks like him, but does he have that commanding presence that Jobs had? I'm not even sure if he's a good enough actor to even fake it. Producer Mark Hulme recently did an interview in which he talked about the film, its focus, what other famous tech innovators will be in the film, and why Kutcher got the job.

The working title of the movie is Jobs: Get Inspired, and it will follow the the ups and downs of Steve Jobs life from the years 1971 to 2000. This is the exact same time frame that was explored in the TV movie Pirates of Silicon Valley. The movie will not be based on any one book like Sony Pictures' adaptation, which will be based on Walter Isaacson’s bestselling biography Steve Jobs. This one will come from a "wealth of source material."

Since Apple was a public company and since Steve Jobs was a very visible and much-written-about individual, there is a wealth of source material. We also enlisted the support of primary sources who knew him personally.

He goes on to reveal later that some other people in Jobs' life that will be represented in the movie such as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, former Apple CEOs John Scully and Mike Markkula, and early Apple employee Daniel Kottke. About those roles Hulme said that they're "in discussions with some exciting actors for those roles but we’re not at liberty to announce other actors yet." I imagine they are going to try and get as many big name actors in these role as possible. Hulme goes on to explain why Kutcher ended up being cast in the role...

Since our film covers the early years of Apple, when Jobs was in his 20's, we needed an actor who could carry not only the youthfulness of Jobs at the time but also the psychological complexity. Because of that, and Ashton's physical similarities to Jobs, he's perfect for our film.

So they basically hired him for his looks and not his acting ability. Well... who knows? Maybe Kutcher will be able to effectively pull it off, but it's hard for me to believe, he's just such a terrible actor. Hulme says that they will get their Jobs movie out in theaters before Sony does, and that they are actually going to start shooting it next month. When asked if friends, family, and fans would like and appreciate the movie he said,

We have purposed for the movie to be an accurate and inspirational portrayal of his fascinating life and the huge impact he had on the world, so yes we expect his family and friends to appreciate it.

Notice he didn't include fans in his response. It would be great if this movie actually turned out to be good and that Kutcher does a great job in the role, but I think in the end Sony Pictures might end up making the better movie.

What do you think about this Ashton Kutcher Steve Jobs movie? Do you think the actor has what it takes to effectively play Jobs?

DreamWorks Could End Up With NEED FOR SPEED

$

Just three days ago, we brought you word that the Need For Speed video game series is being developed as a movie (and, in all likelihood, an ensuing franchise). Real Steel screenwriter John Gatins will be producing the movie, and he's been pitching it to studios all over town. It's looking like DreamWorks is going to be the one that crosses the finish line first and wins the rights to the film, which will feature a cross-country race from San Francisco to New York.

Deadline has the update, which also lets us know that George Gatins, John's brother, is the one who will write the script (we previously thought John would be writing, but he's only producing). If this deal goes through, it will establish DreamWorks as a buyer on the market again after a long time off dealing with money issues behind the scenes. More buyers equals more competition in the marketplace, which means (hopefully) better products - aka films - for us, the consumers. So I'm all for the return of DreamWorks, and here's hoping they lock down this Need For Speed deal. Ever since the Fast and Furious franchise made the decision to go more in the heist movie direction, there's been a void for car-centric action films, so maybe this movie will fill that void.

What do you think about a Need For Speed film? Could this be one of the very few GOOD video game movie adaptations ever made?

We have some behind-the-scenes footage from the set of Now You See MeLouis Letterier directed the magic thriller, which stars Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco in the leads.

Eisenberg, Harrelson, Fisher and Franco play "The Four Horsemen, a quartet of the world's greatest illusionists who pull off a series of daring heists against corrupt business leaders during their performances, showering the stolen profits on their audiences while staying one step ahead of FBI Agent Mark Ruffalo and Interpol agent Melanie Laurent

Michael Caine also stars as a wealthy benefactor, and Morgan Freeman plays a former illusionist and now world-famous magic debunker determined to take down the Horsemen. Common and Michael Kelly round out the cast.

Here is what Eisenberg had to say about the film:
"Every scene has some interesting component of magic to it, or some kind of reversal of character. I'm sure it'll be as fun to watch as it has been to do."
Fisher revealed the following about the characters:
"We are kind of modern-day Robin Hoods. We're getting back at corporate greed and we're distributing the wealth and we're essentially kind of anarchists, good guys, good magicians, righting the wrongs of the world."
Check out the video from the set below and share your thoughts:
I have been interested in seeing this film since it was first announced. I love heist movies and the concept of magic being used sounds awesome. The cast is also pretty amazing, so I am going to be seeing this in theaters.
Do you plan on seeing this in theaters in 2013?
