As soon as it was announced that Brad Bird would be directing Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, I knew for a fact that this movie was going to be something fun, exciting and special. For those of you who don't know, Bird is the director of animated films such as The Iron Giant and The Incredibles. Ghost Protocol is Birds first live-action film, and he hit a freakin' home run with it! This is in my opinion the best Mission: Impossible film made so far, it had everything that we love about going to the movies; action, drama, comedy and heart. I was completely engulfed in this movie from beginning to end and it's most definitely one of my favorite movies of the year.
I honestly loved everything about this movie, but the one thing that makes or breaks a movie for me is the story and script, and I'm happy to say that both of those aspects of the film were solidly great. Of course they weren't perfect, but I had no complaints, I'm sure that some people with nit pic at it, but for the kind of movie this is there's really know point to pic it apart because of how fun and exciting it was. The story was pretty straight forward, simple and witty. The script contained a lot of great humor and dialogue that you all will get a kick out of. Some of this humor you may have seen already in the various films clips that have released, but there's so much more than what has been shown. I loved the humor that was in this movie, and that's one of the main things that set it apart from every other Mission: Impossible film. The humor alone makes this movie worth watching, but if you are looking for another reason, how about action!
The action sequences in this film were amazingly awesome and amusing. I had a blast watching the action sequences in this film unfold on the big screen. What's great is that there's one fun action sequence after another in this film, add a good script to that and you have a special kind of entertaining movie that everyone can love. There's a great fight sequence at the end of the film that takes place in a high tech parking garage that was put together so well, and ended up being so damn cool so just look out for that. But, one of my favorite moments in the film was the scene in which Ethan Hunt is flying through the air on the tallest building in the world, it's a scene that has been heavily marketed, but everything leading up to that and afterwards just made for one of the greatest most intense edge-of-your-seat sequences in the film. And turned out to be one of the most enterning moments in any movie.
If you have a problem with Tom Cruise for any number of reasons get over it! The guy is fantastic in this movie and he's fun to watch playing this character. Please do not let Cruise stop you from seeing this movie because you are going to miss out on seeing one hell of a great film that is meant to be seen on the big screen. In fact, I highly recommend you see it in IMAX if at all possible for you. I repeat get over your Tom Cruise issues if you have any and see this damn movie! On top of that it's got a great cast of other actors that also do a great job that will keep you entertained, we have Simon Pegg as Benji who is hilarious, Jeremy Renner was great as the new guy Brandt, he was a very fun new character, then there is Paula Patton as Jane who was a sexy badass. This was a great ensemble cast that had a very likable fun chemistry on screen.
Bird is the man, and he effectively brought his animation directing style into the live-action world. His signature is all over this movie, and it was so cool to see how effectively his style translated to live-action. This guy is going to have a hell of a career as a live action film director, and I can't wait to see what he ends up doing next!
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol has it all, and this is one of those movies that I can't wait for you to see! I honestly wish I could sit down and watch it with each and everyone of you just to see the reaction on your faces as you watched it. This really was a great movie, and I whole-heartedly recommend that you all go out and see it now if you haven't already!
Here's a fun piece of Geek Art created by Kizer Stone featuring Batgirl as she battle Poison Ivy. I love the costume design in this image. Here's a not from the artist...
Just having a bit of fun experimenting on this one. Poison Ivy vs Barbara Gordon.
If Barbara was taught martial arts and to use stealth like an ninja by Bruce, then maybe it effected the the way she looked in the beginning of her crime fighting days. Unno..before the black and yellow tights.
Thought maybe this outfit Cassandra Cain uses and ends up choosing/modifying in those years when Barb's no longer Batgirl but the Oracle.
What are your thoughts on today's Geek Art?
3D is a very popular fad in Hollywood right now, unfortunately many of the movies being released in 3D aren't worth spending our hard earned money for. 3D just isn't over taking the movie theaters though, it's invading our homes with 3D TV's, 3D cable channels, 3D video games and 3D blu-rays.
Here's an infographic that's been created that breaks down all things 3D, and gives us the details on if it's just another fad or if it's here to stay and grow. Personally I'd like to see it just die off, I just can't afford paying the extra cash for crappy 3D movies, and I'm not 100% sold on it. The Infographic is called The 3D Bubble:
Hollywood has gone crazy for 3D, every other movie appears to be “in 3D”, but is this really a revolution or is this just another fad? Sortable.com has taken a look at the 3D movie industry to see if 3D is hear to stay or if the bubble is about to pop!
Our infographic looks at:
- Industry stats about 3D technology
- 2D vs 3D TV sales
- How 3D works
- The differences between filmed in 3D and converted to 3D
- Top 3D movies of all times

Artist Scott Park sent us over a link to his site with these two Christmas inspired Star Wars art pieces, and they are seriously the best Star Wars Christmas art I've ever seen! I love that the AT-AT's are pulling the Star Destroyer like a sleigh! These would make an awesome Christmas card. What are your thoughts on this Star Wars Christmas art?

We have shared a number of cool 2011 film mashups on the site. Here is a trailer mashup from SleepySkunk that gives us a look back at the various films from the year, highlighting some of the intense action sequences. The music used in the mashup is Lords of Acid and Randy Edelman's To The Stars from the Dragon Heart soundtrack.
Here is a description of the video:
The year in movies has stood out for two reasons in my humble opinion. First, it was a year that started with a "Summer Blockbuster" (The Green Hornet) and ended with one (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol). Studios realized that audiences love car chases and explosions on the big screen as much as butter on their popcorn and every single month in 2011 granted us with a surprising share of intense action.
Second, it was a year of looking back and respecting the essential elements that used to make movies so special. From Drive and Hugo to Super 8 and The Artist, it seems that studios have started acknowledging the missing ingredients in their recipe for success and paid great tribute to the kind of movies that were once (and still are) warm to our hearts.
This end-of-year montage is divided in two parts that attempt to outline and illustrate each of these points through images rather than words.

A great new international German trailer for Joss Whedon's The Avengers has hit the net today, and it contains a decent amount new footage! There's some great new action shots as well as a meeting between Black Widow and Bruce Banner. The trailer is completely in German so I have no idea what is really being said, but it's still a cool trailer and worth watching for anyone that's excited about seeing this movie! And if you understand German, then more power to you!
The film includes the awesomeness of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), and the villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

The highly anticipated Marvel film comes out on May 4th 2012. We've still got awhile to go, but it looks like it will be worth the wait. Check out the international trailer below and tell us what you think!
James Bond actor Daniel Craig has been offered a multi-million pound deal to become the longest serving 007 of all time…
In an exclusive interview with The People, Wilson told how he would love him to do five more.
He said: “It’s certainly something we’ll be discussing with him once we finish shooting Skyfall. Filming has gone very well so far and I’d love Daniel to surpass Roger’s record and do eight pictures. Daniel’s been an absolute pleasure to be around because he takes the role so seriously. There’s really no one more passionate about making these films work than him – he’s a film maker’s dream.”
The director Sam Mendes and Daniel are taking it back to a 60s feel – more Sean. I think that’s what the fans wanted. There’s a magical Goldfinger feel surrounding it all. It’s all very exciting. I can’t wait for people to see the movie because I think we’re making a very special Bond.
We’d really like to get all six [actors to have been an Eon-movie Bond] together. We’re trying to find a way for fans to celebrate with us because they’ve been the reason the Bond films have been the success they have. We’re looking at ways to show off sets from the latest film, as well as props and perhaps give movie master classes for film fans.

In my opinion Sherlock star Martin Freeman is the perfect actor to play Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson's two Hobbit films. He recently gave a little interview in which he talked about the film, and there's a little low resolution image from the upcoming Total Film Magazine featuring Bilbo on the cover. It's also been officially announced by Warner Bros that the teaser trailer for the film will be released online at 7pm eastern time Tuesday December 20th.
When asked about feeling the pressure of playing such a iconic story character Freeman said,
I honestly don’t feel that pressure, no. I really, really don’t. Of course, it is Bilbo’s journey, but I didn’t write it. I’m not directing it… It’s not my film. It’s Peter’s film.
So basically Jackson is the one feeling the pressure. Freeman almost wasn't able to do the Hobbit because of his obligations with Sherlock. "I was sad but I thought, ‘I’ll just hate whoever plays Bilbo.” But thankfully everyone was able to adjust their schedules so that he could play the part. The actor then goes on to discuss the challenges he faces while shooting the film...
The hardest thing is staying ‘up’ and peppy when you’re covered in snot or mud, day after day… I’m sure there’s more to come. So far, what we’ve filmed has been more comic than heavy. I keep asking Pete [Jackson], ‘When are we going heavy?’ He assures me it’s coming!
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens on December 14th 2012. This is going to be one hell of an epic movie event! I'm more excited about this than I am The Avengers. How high does The Hobbit rank on your most anticipated list of 2012?

IBM is here to tell you that in 5 years doctors will be able to use your thoughts to rehabilitate you, your house will run off you running, and you'll never need to remember another password...and not get the s*** identity thefted out of you.
It's all part of their 5 in 5 initiative in which since 2006 they've been making predictions of new technologies. So how have they done? Not all have been spot on...but for what it's worth...
In 2006 they predicted smart phones would become a large part of everyone's life (iPhone released 2007), and that 3D technologies would make a comeback in movies and gaming (Avatar, 2009. 3DS, 2011), and in 2007 they predicted the use of smart phones to handle financial transactions.
They also predicted a 3D internet, doctors with super senses, buildings that fix themselves, and real time speech translation...so yeah. Check out some quick explanations of this years list in the videos below and check out their logic behind it on the site.

Warner Bros. has officially released the new full gloriously epic trailer for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises! This is the same trailer that showed with Sherlock Holmes: A Games of Shadows.
This looks like it is going to be an epically incredible conclusion to this amazing Nolan franchise. It's going to be really sad to see this vision of Batman come to an end. I don't know if you saw the 6 minute prologue yet or not, but Bane is going to be one hell of a badass villain.
Here's the synopsis:
Warner Bros. Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' "The Dark Knight Rises" is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar(R) winner Christian Bale ("The Fighter") again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar(R) winner Marion Cotillard ("La Vie en Rose"), as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake. Returning to the main cast, Oscar(R) winner Michael Caine ("The Cider House Rules") plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar(R) winner Morgan Freeman ("Million Dollar Baby") reprises the role of Lucius Fox. The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on "Batman Begins" and the record-breaking blockbuster "The Dark Knight." The executive producers are Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull, with Jordan Goldberg serving as co-producer. The film is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane.
The movie is set to hit theaters on on July 20th 2012, and I'm hoping that it ends up being better than the first two. Click on the image below to watch the trailer in HD and tell us what you think!

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for the upcoming film Wrath of the Titans, which is a sequel to the crappy Sam Worthington remake of Clash of the Titans. The trailer for the sequel makes the movie look like it will be cool, but that's exactly what I thought about the first film. I don't think I'll be completely sold on this until I actually see it. I don't like how once again used rock music in the trailer, it just doesn't work for me, it seems to cheapen the experience. Maybe it will work for some of you though. The movie definitely looks like it's got a crazy amount of action in it.
The film was directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Battle LA) and stars Sam Worthington, Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, Danny Huston, Edgar Ramiez, Bill Nighy, Toby Kebbell and Rosamund Pike.
Here's the full synopsis:
A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus (Worthington) --the demigod son of Zeus (Neeson)--is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity's lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades (Fiennes) and Poseidon (Danny Huston). The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld. Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus' godly son, Ares (Edgar Ramirez), switch loyalties and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans' strength grows stronger as Zeus' remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon's demigod son, Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.
The film hits theaters March 20th 2012! Watch the trailer below and tell us what you think!
