The release of Christopher Nolan's Interstellar is right around the corner, and I couldn't be more excited to see what he has created. In anticipation of the release, we have a new clip from the film that features a tense scene between Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway in their ship. We also have a TV spot that highlights what critics have been saying about the film and a collection of new photos that shows off some of the spacecrafts that are used in the movie.

Interstellar chronicles "the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage." It hits a limited number of theaters on November 5th and then rolls out into additional theaters on November 7th. To read some of the first reviews of the highly anticipated film, click here.

Every Halloween I load up on boxes of General Mills' classic monster cereals such as Count Chocula, Boo Berry, and Franken Berry. To celebrate the holiday this year, artist Phil Postma has redesigned these classic characters in a set of art that he created that also features Frute Brute, Fruity Tummy Mummy, Baron Von Bloodberry, and Sir Grimfellow.

Idris Elba Says Heimdall and Loki Will Appear in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

idris-elba-says-heimdall-and-loki-will-appear-in-avengers-age-of-ultron

It really hasn't been made clear whether or not Idris Elba's Heimdall or Tom Hiddleston's Loki will be in Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron. I have been hoping that they will be, and according to Elba, it sounds like they are. During a recent interview with The Telegraph, Elba revealed,

“I’m in Avengers, and I’m doing a scene with Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, and they’re like, [whispers] – ‘Aren’t you [meant to be] in Ibiza?’"

That's great to hear! There's no word on how big a part they will play in the story, but it's good know that there will at least be one scene with the characters. Now, if Thor and Loki have a scene together, I guess that means there's a chance that Thor may have learned the fake death trickery Loki pulled off in Thor: The Dark World. I'm sure whatever the scene involves, it will be pivotal to the future Marvel films. We learned earlier today that Loki also had a big role to play in Thor: Ragnarok and the two Avengers: Infinity Wars movies.

In Age of Ultron, "Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure."

Age of Ultron also stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, James Spader, Cobie Smulders, Thomas Kretschmann, Paul Bettany, and Stellan Skarsgard. The movie will be released on May 1st, 2015.

Peggy Carter Confirmed for ANT-MAN

peggy-carter-confirmed-for-ant-man1

A couple of month ago it was rumored that Peggy Carter would have a cameo role in Marvel's Ant-Man, along with a few other characters that you can read about here. It has now been confirmed that Carter will indeed play a part in the movie, and it comes from a post at Project Casting, who says that casting directors are looking for a stand-in for actress Hayley Atwell. Here's the description that was released for the Ant-Man casting:

Casting directors are looking for an actor to work as a stand-in for the actor Haley [sic] Atwell. Haley Attwell [sic] is 31, 5’7 and 112 pounds. She is best known for her work in stage productions such as A View from the Bridge, and in films such as Cassandra’s Dream, The Duchess, The Pillars of the Earth, and Captain America: The First Avenger. In addition, casting directors are looking for a body double that meets certain requirements.

There's a rumor going around that Michael Douglas' Hank Pym will have a flashback in the proloqgue movie in which he meets members of S.H.I.E.L.D. including founding members Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, Armin Zola and a young Alexander Pierce, who was played by Robert Redford in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. If Zola is in the scene, he would most likely be reprised by Toby Jones, along with Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, who is also involved with ABC's Agent Carter series.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

The Peyton Reed-directed movie also stars Paul RuddEvangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, John Slattery, Gregg Turkington and T.I. The movie set to be released in theaters on July 17th, 2015.

This may not be the most anticipated Marvel film, but I still think it's going to be great!

Incredible MechWarrior "Sunder" Baby Costume

This six-month-old baby had the coolest costume in the world this Halloween. His dad built him a functioning MechWarrior "Sunder" costume, which is based on the 1990s video game franchise.  This kid has one cool geeky dad. According to the man's wife, this is a costume he was planning to make before their baby was even born.

"My husband had this costume planned for several years, long before we had a child. The inspiration was a computer game he played in high school. When we found out we were having a baby, he got to work. Ryan sketched out the rough designs probably two months before Geraint was born."

That's so awesome! Check out the video below to see the costume in action. This is such an impressive feat, and I know you'll all get a kick out of it.

Ryan Murphy Confirms All AMERICAN HORROR STORY Seasons are Connected

ryan-murphy-confirms-all-american-horror-story-seasons-are-connected

There's been a lot of talk and speculation regarding all of the the seasons of American Horror Story being connected. Creator Ryan Murphy recently did an interview with EW in which he confirmed that this theory is true. All of the stories told in American Horror Story are in some way connected. How exactly these stories are connected has yet to be revealed, but according to the creator, all will be revealed. This is what Murphy had to say about the connections:

"This is the first year where we begin to tell you that season two is connected to season four which is connected to season one. People have started to write articles about that. A lot of their hypotheses have been completely right on. That’s the fun of the show. Hopefully by the end of the run, be it 10 years or 15 years, people will be able to stand back and be able to say, 'Oh that was connected to x.'

"They’re all connected. We’re just beginning to tell you how they’re connected. They’re all very separate but there’s clues every season that we’re now telling you how the different worlds are intertwined.

"Part of the fun of the show is the Rubik’s cube design of it, but, yes, there are purposeful connections, character connections, and similarities and things that connect that we’ll continue to connect moving forward."

The show is one of my favorites to watch on TV right now. I love how dark and twisted it all is. The first big clue about this connected universe was the appearance of Pepper (Naomi Grossman) from Asylum in the current season of Freak Show. Then it was revealed that Lily Rabe would reprise her role as Sister Mary Eunice from Asylum in Freak Show.

It will be fun for fans of the series to see how all of these crazy worlds are connected.

"Mean Teddies" is a spectacular animated short film created by Tyler Novo. The story follows a stuffed teddy bear that comes to life after their owner goes to sleep to fight on their behalf and protect them when terrifying nightmares threaten their owners.

This is a beautifully animated short with fun character and creature designs. It has an epic kind of feel to it and has a good combination of thrilling violence with a charming cuteness. Thanks to this short I now have a new found respect for teddy bears. I know anyone that takes the time to watch this will enjoy it.

Production on J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII has officially wrapped! The cast and crew finished their final days of shooting at England's Pinewood Studios, and now the film is headed into the post-production part of development.

The end of shooting was marked by a heartfelt thank you card signed by Abrams as well as producers Kathleen Kennedy and Bryan Burke that was given to the the cast and crew of the movie. James Rose posted a photo on Twitter of the note alongside a crew hat. Here's what the note says:

To the Extraordinary Cast and Crew of Episode VII:

It is a true honor and absolute joy to come to set every day and work alongside each of you. Your professionalism, passion and patience is more deeply appreciated than we could ever express. From the deserts of Abu Dhabi, to the Forest of Dean, to the stages of Pinewood, you have risen to every challenge and been as wonderfully kind as you are brilliantly talented. Our ambition here is large, of course, and it must be: we are here to make a film that entertains millions of people, of all ages, for generations. To create an experience people will cherish watching as much as we will cherish having made it, together. How lovely it would be if you had, in addition to your name on the screen, some actual real tangible proof that you were part of it! Here, then, is that proof. Wear it well, wear it healthily, wear it proudly. But, mostly, thank you.

With Love, JJ Abrams Kathleen Kennedy Bryan Burke

On Saturday, November 11th, the Episode VII team celebrated with a wrap party at London's Science Museum. Many of the film's stars were in attendance including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill. Even Simon Pegg showed up. One of the newcomers of the franchise John Boyega also posted a photo above on Instagram of himself and his co-star R2-D2 from the party. You can see the note that the cast and crew got below.

Star Wars: Episode VII is set to debut in theaters on December 18th, 2015.

I freakin' love that this photo exists! I'm sure every geek in the world would want to get in on some lightsaber battle action with Whedon and Fillion. We need to get the epic event set in motion!

Chadwick Boseman Will Be Black Panther in At Least 5 Marvel Films

File this bit of info under useful trivia. Chadwick Boseman, who has been cast as Black Panther, will be playing the character for at least five movies. Boseman's first appearance as Black Panther will be in Captain America: Civil War. It would be safe to assume he will also be in the Avengers: Infinity Wars two part saga. Add in the solo film and that leaves only one yet to be determined film for Boseman, but odds are high on it being a Black Panther sequel.

Two new trailers have been released for the intense looking thriller A Most Violent Year. The movie stars Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain, and it was directed by Oscar nominee J.C. Chandor (Margin Call, All is Lost). You can't go wrong with a talented cast and director like this, and it looks like the movie definitely lives up to the title. I enjoy these kinds of movies, and I'm looking forward to this one.

The story is set in New York City during the winter of 1981, which is statistically one of the most violent years in the city’s history. The story "follows the lives of an immigrant (Isaac) and his family trying to expand their business and capitalize on opportunities as the rampant violence, decay, and corruption of the day drag them in and threaten to destroy all they have built."

The movie also stars David OyelowoAlbert Brooks, and Alessandro Nivola. It hits theaters on December 31st, 2014.

Ridley Scott Set to Produce 3001: THE FINAL ODYSSEY for SyFy

ridley-scott-set-to-produce-3001-the-final-odyssey-for-syfy

The SyFy Channel is set to develop a miniseries adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke's novel 3001: The Final Odyssey, which, as you may know, is the sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey. The series will be written by screenwriter Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean and Collateral). He will also serve as executive producer alongside Ridley Scott and David W. Zucker (Numbers, The Good Wife).

3001: The Final Odyssey is the fourth and final book in Clarke's legendary sci-fi franchise, and it follows the character Frank Poole, who is the astronaut that was killed by the HAL-9000 computer in 2001: A Space Odyssey. Here's a description of the story:

"One thousand years after the Jupiter mission to explore the mysterious Monolith had been destroyed, after Dave Bowman was transformed into the Star Child, Frank Poole drifted in space, frozen and forgotten, leaving the supercomputer HAL inoperable. But now Poole has returned to life, awakening in a world far different from the one he left behind–and just as the Monolith may be stirring once again…."

According to a story description on Wikipedia, Poole’s body is “discovered in the Kuiper belt by a comet-collecting space tug named the Goliath, and revived.” Poole is then returned to Earth in the year 3001, where the world is very, very different from when he first left it.

"Some of its notable features include the BrainCap, a brain-computer interface technology; genetically-engineered dinosaur servants; a space drive; and four gigantic space elevators located evenly around the Equator. Human beings have also colonised the Jovian moons Ganymede and Callisto. TMA-1, the black monolith found on the Moon in 1999, has been brought to Earth in 2006 and installed in front of the United Nations Building in New York City."

The story takes place over the course of thirty years, and this is what Scott had to say in a statement to TVLine:

“I have always been a fan of Clarke’s extraordinary Odyssey series, and certainly Kubrick’s adaptation of 2001. I am thrilled to be part of bringing that legacy to audiences and continuing the great cinematic tradition that this story and its creators deserve.”

With Scott producing the miniseries there's a chance that that this could be a good adaptation. Personally, I would have much rather seen the story developed as a feature film with Scott directing, but this SyFy miniseries will have to do.

How a Game of Dungeons & Dragons Helped Cast Elliot in E.T.

The Academy of Motion Arts and Sciences has released a new episode of their fantastic web-series Academy Originals. I've really enjoyed what they've been doing by giving movie buffs a behind the scenes look at the stories behind the films that we love.

This latest episode gives us the story behind how Henry Thomas was cast in the lead role of Elliott in Steven Spielberg's classic film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. It turns out Thomas wasn't Spielberg's first choice to take on the role, and it was all thanks to a game of Dungeons & Dragons that lead to Thomas' legendary audition that won him the part.

The video features a recount of how everything came together as told by casting director Marci Liroff

The Scarecrow Will Be Introduced into GOTHAM Series

the-scarecrow-will-be-introduced-into-gotham-series

Gotham has done a great job with introducing familiar characters. So far they've introduced us to Carmine Falcone, Salvatore Maroni, and the characters who will become Penguin, Catwoman, and the Riddler. Harvey Dent and Victor Zsasz have also been cast and will be introduced this season. They aren't finished yet, though! It was previously revealed that they will introduce Mr. Freeze at some point. They've also teased the Joker on various occasions. Now it looks like they will bring in one of Batman's more frightening villains with the Scarecrow.

The news comes from executive producer Danny Cannon, who was in attendance at Stan Lee's Comikaze this last weekend. He says that the writers are in the midst of working on an episode that will introduce a young version of Scarecrow, and he also offers up a bit of interesting info:

"We're breaking the story now, the villain will be seen as a child, before he takes on the Scarecrow moniker. In fact, it's something that will be passed on to him from his father, which will create an eventual enemy for Batman while still having an adversary for Jim Gordon."

In a way, Gotham is reinventing the mythology of these villainous characters so it makes sense that this new version of Scarecrow won't be the one we've come to know over the years. It sounds like his dad may be going up against Detective Jim Gordon though. This will be the second live action portrayal of the Scarecrow. The first was envisioned by Christopher Nolan in the Dark Knight trilogy.

I've always liked this character. He was especially one of my favorites in Batman: The Animated Series. It will be great to see him brought to life once again, even if it is a younger version of the character.

Pop Culture Heroes Frozen in (Chocolate) Carbonite

$

Apparently Jabba the Hutt survived Princess Leia’s extremely vigorous deep tissue neck massage and has kept himself busy by continuing to collect bounties that have been frozen in carbonite. Or at least he has for this series from food photographer Henry Hargeaves. "Jabba's Bounty" imagines pop culture heroes from our galaxy frozen in carbonite, a.k.a. chocolate and edible silver paint.

There was always something extremely terrifying about Han Solo’s frozen facial expression and clawing hands when he's frozen in carbonite. Since Hargeaves used standard action figures to make the molds for these, that horrific expression isn’t replicated as well through the whole series. Kermit the Frog and Hulk Hogan look genuinely scared though. Putting Harrison Ford back in carbonite as Indiana Jones was also quite ingenious. You can check out our favorites and watch a video of Hargeaves' process below.

Be sure to check out the rest of the series at Fubiz (via: Neatorama).
