Ti West Adapting BEDBUGS For Tango Pictures

0
0

Ben H. Winter's bestselling horror novel Bedbugs is coming to the big screen. Deadline reports that Tango Pictures has bought film rights to the bestselling horror novel. Horror writer-director Ti West (The Innkeepers, The House of the Devil) is on board to write the script.

The book tells "a tale of urban paranoia set in Brooklyn that follows the Wendt family as they move in to a new home and suddenly start to encounter strange occurrences. Susan Wendt begins suffering what she suspects are bedbug bites, but she’s the only one getting bitten and suddenly fears she may be going crazy. That’s until she’s confronted with a more menacing explanation for the strange things happening to her and the family."

The project is reportedly a slow burn in the same vein as West's films, and will be light on the gore factor, but heavy on the character and supernatural thrills. I like West's films, so this should be a cool project.

Have you read this book? Do you think it will make a good feature film?

THE AVENGERS - New 'Head Count' Film Clip and Featurette

0
0

Do you need another Avengers hit to help get you through the day? Marvel has released a new film clip showing the full interaction between Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) when Stark utters one of our favorite lines from the trailers... "We have a Hulk." The clip is great and shows a fun yet intense interaction between the hero and villain. The tension in the clip builds up to something that is about to happen, by the end it looks like someone is going to get hurt. Check it out and there's a list of things below pointing out a few interesting things revealed in the clip.

MTV points out five things in this short clip to help get you thinking, and start a discussion. Look them over and let us know what you think!

Tony Stark Owns One T-Shirt
Either that, or not a lot of time has passed between this scene and the time Tony zinged Cap with that "billionaire playboy philanthropist" line from the original "Avengers" trailer. Stark's still wearing that Black Sabbath shirt, which suggests that not much time has passed since his heated argument with Cap on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Hellicarrier. That's kind of interesting, considering that…

Tony Stark Hearts Steve Rogers
The plain-clothes Iron Man professes that Captain America is a living legend who lives up to the hype, tipping his hand a bit in the process. Even if he's giving the time-displaced super soldier a hard time at certain points in "The Avengers," Stark has lots of respect for the man. So, if only a short period of time has passed between their earlier argument and the Tony-Loki scene, then something huge must have happened between then and now to turn Tony's opinion on Steve.

Loki's Making People Angry
This isn't much of a surprise, is it? It's already been revealed that Loki has scenes with every single Avengers, so it's not a big shock to learn that he's going around pissing off Earth's mightiest heroes. But based on the conversation, Tony seems to be the final stop on Loki's "Make Avengers Angry" tour. It sounds as though Loki's plan to ruffle everyone's feathers is already well underway, if not close to completion.

Hulk's Gone Rogue
In fact, Loki's annoy-everything-that-moves strategy seems to have pushed Bruce Banner and his mean, green alter-ego off the map entirely. The trickster makes an offhanded comment about "the beast" fleeing the coop, leaving us wondering: where the hell is Hulk and what the hell happened to him?

Someone's About To Get Their Ass Kicked
You don't need to have expertise in body language to see that Loki is itching to knock Tony's block off. And you don't need to understand how hi-tech weapons work to realize that those aren't Tiffany's bracelets that Tony's slipping on. One of these guys is about to get a face-full of pain, it's just a matter of which one.

Here's the featurette that includes interviews with the cast and director Joss Whedon as they discuss the film, story and characters.

New Film Clip for THE CABIN IN THE WOODS - Split Up

0

Lionsgate has released a interesting film clip for the Drew Goddard directed Joss Whedon Produced horror film The Cabin in the Woods. The clip is called Split Up, and it shows Chris Hemsworth taking the leadership role among his friends, telling them that they have to stick together. Then something interesting happens that causes him to change his mind, telling everyone that they should split up instead. Of course everyone seems to stupidly agree with him. The clip gives us a little glimpse of what's in store for us, but still doesn't really give anything away about the plot.

Here's the short synopsis:

Five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods. Bad things happen.

If you think you know this story, think again.

The movie comes out this weekend on Friday the 13th. The movie's been getting great reviews and after a few years of sitting around collecting dust we will finally be able to see it!

THE SIMPSONS Creator Matt Groening Reveals where Springfield got its Name

0
0

After all of these years of wonder where Springfield exists in The Simpsons universe, its creator Matt Groening has finally revealed where the little town of Springfield got its name from. Here's what he had to say in an interview with Smithsonian Mag...

Springfield was named after Springfield, Oregon. The only reason is that when I was a kid, the TV show “Father Knows Best” took place in the town of Springfield, and I was thrilled because I imagined that it was the town next to Portland, my hometown. When I grew up, I realized it was just a fictitious name. I also figured out that Springfield was one of the most common names for a city in the U.S. In anticipation of the success of the show, I thought, “This will be cool; everyone will think it’s their Springfield.” And they do.

And there you have it! The city of Springfield has been explained, and it makes perfect sense. I think we all assumed it was basically supposed to be Springfield USA, it's good to have confirmation on that, but it came after the fact. The original Simpsons Springfield is in Oregon. What do you think of that?

First Look at THE HUNGER GAMES Katniss Barbie Doll

0

Here's your first look at Mattel's collectible Hunger Games Katniss Barbie doll. It's got that classic Barbie design style, but what I like about it most is the fact that she's wearing the outfit that she wore in the games. I think it's a good representation of the character, and collectors are sure to be excited about it. The doll was designed by Bill Greening who told EW in an interview,

I chose to dress her in the outfit she wears during the games, since this is where all the non-stop action takes place and is instantly recognizable by fans. Of course, she wears her mockingjay pin proudly on her lapel.

Hopefully Hunger Games fans can appreciate the attention to detail. The doll’s minimalistic style and details — such as her loosely braided hair and makeup-free look — also really embody the heroic character Katniss.

I am a huge Hunger Games fan and loved all three books, so it was truly an amazing experience for me to be able to design the Katniss Barbie doll. I think it really pays tribute to Katniss and The Hunger Games.

The Katniss Barbie will be available in August and as of yesterday is up for pre-order at BarbieCollector.com and other online retail outlets. Will you be grabbing yourself one of these for your collection?

"Don't Stop Believing" in the Movies

0

There aren't many people out there who don't enjoy the movies. Still, there are some who don't see the value in paying to see something they can just simply wait to see in the comfort of their home. But that's not what movie lovers really see when they go to the theaters. They pay for the experience: sitting in a dark room for two hours with a group of strangers. For those two hours, people are enjoying something communal - laughs, tears, cheers and fears. There's nothing like seeing a good movie and at the end have the audience stand and applaud; it's a celebration. It's like what Martin Landau said in Frank Darabont's The Majestic, "I'll tell you, in a place like this, the magic is all around you. The trick is to see it." Yes, of course, I'm a film student and I tend to think about these things more than most people. But people who make videos like the one below still believe. Do you believe in the magic of movies?

MAN OF STEEL Spoiler - Why is Is Lois Lane in Smallville?

0
0

Thanks to a recent bulletin board prop that was auctioned off for Zack Snyder's The Man of Steel we have some more interesting details about Lois Lane and why she's spending time in Smallville. I just assumed she was there hanging out with Clark Kent, but it seems like there's more to it than that. If you decide to read ahead just know that the information might be considered being a spoiler.

The bulletin board prop came from the apartment of Lane, and on it there is a newspaper article revealing that there's some kind of poisoning in Metropolis... "about a poisoning of the Metropolis area by an unknown contamination." The article goes into detail about a high school girl and her family having some health problems.

There's also some pictures of some black rocks, rocks that were spotted on the Smallville set found at the place were Kal-El crashed on earth. There's a possibility that this could Black Kryptonite.

So if we start putting these bits of information together... Metropolis, the poisoning and the black rocks, we find that Lane is led to Smallville to investigate because she finds out that perhaps something similar happened there as well, and she's found a connection with the the black rocks, that smallville could possibly be the source.  While in Smallville, Lane meets Clark for the first time in this version of the story. This is all speculation, but it makes sense.

Cosmic Book News goes into even further speculation asking the following questions... "Is Superman the cause of the poison (radiation)? Is Zod somehow behind this? Or how about Dr. Emil Hamilton?! Hamilton teased he might be a scientist at S.T.A.R. Labs (located in Metropolis), and that he enjoys his work. Could be his works gets away from him — or not."

What do you think all of these clues mean?

Man Of Steel hits theaters on June 14th, 2013 and it stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Diane Lane as Martha "Ma" Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan "Pa" Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as Zod, and Russel Crowe as Jor-El.

Mark Ruffalo talks About THE AVENGERS and Solo HULK Movie

0
0

Mark Ruffalo recently sat down with IGN to talk about The Avengers. In the interview he reveals a few new details about the movie, discusses his vision of the character, and how he's a much smarter Hulk than we've seen in the past. He also talks about doing a solo Hulk movie. It's a great interview, check out some of the things he had to say below.

On His Vision Of Bruce Banner:

Yeah, it's hard to watch a movie with a guy who doesn't want to be there. I think Banner's aging and living with this thing since -- now it's been two years since his last "one." We're kind of going for this world weariness of accepting -- trying to get to the point where he can live with it, and maybe master it. Come to peace with it. And so there's this kind of nice ironic wryness to Banner. He's not sulking and miserable, you know. I think that's sort of a throwback -- we had talked about it being a throwback to Bill Bixby, which was the Banner that I grew up on basically. He had kind of a charm about him, and this world weariness. He was on the run, but he was still able to flirt sometimes and smile sometimes, and occasionally he'd crack a joke. When you have a movie where there's so many characters you end up getting about 10 minutes screen time with your particular character. So in the screen time that we have we're trying to bring out this charm in him, and maybe this idea that he wants to be a superhero. I mean, he looks at Stark and he's like, "That's the dude who did what I was intending to do. He's the model. He made it work." So Banner and Stark have a very cool relationship in the movie.

On The Hulk Speaking:

He Does. As of this moment, I am. But you never know what they're going to do. They might watch it and go, "Oh my god!" Yeah, he's a smart Hulk. He hasn't graduated to that yet, but hopefully he might be on the way to that. I don't know where it's gonna go after this, but there's definitely -- I feel like we're trying to open the door to integration of the two. I liken it [to] the guy who tried to break a bucking Bronco. He has some tiny little semblance of control of it, but then again it's completely out of control. That's what the last one left off, I felt like.

On Whether He'd Be Interested In A Solo Hulk Movie:

Why not! It was the one character -- you know, I was a comic book fan when I was a kid and I always loved the Hulk. When The Incredible Hulk, that show, came on, I would not miss that. And so if I was going to find myself in that world, this would be the guy that I would be most interested in doing. To make a very short answer long: Yeah, I'd love to have him do his own movie.

On Bruce Banner meeting Steve Rodgers for the First Time, as that have a history of Super Soldier Serum:

We don't really get to see that moment. We kind of hop over that, but there is a history there.

His Thoughts on 3D movies:

Um, fad? A cool fad? I don't know, I'm into this whole 4D thing -- have you heard about 4D? That sounds cool for this kind of movie. I don't know, it's fun to watch a 3D movie, but I don't know. I have no idea what's gonna happen with 3D. It seems to be like every few years we roll up something like Smell-O-Rama...

On if He's talked to any of the Previous Hulk actors:

I actually called Ed because I'm friends with Ed and wanted it to be copacetic. I didn't want to step on his feet. He bequeathed it to me, and we had a joke that it's our generation's Hamlet. We're all gonna get a crack at it.

On his first day of Filming wih the Team:

Yeah, and I was like, "Where's my costume man, this sucks!" They all looked dope and ripped up, and I'm there in a not very flattering linen suit. But I was thinking, "Wow, here's the team and here I am -- a total outsider." But I think that really works for Banner, and I think it really works for Banner in this particular story.

Head on over to IGN to read the full interview. This is just a little bit of it.

Here's a few new images from Tim Burton's Dark Shadows to look over. The feature new images of Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green, Bella Heathcote and Johnny Depp... playing with toy dinosaurs.

Here's the Sunopsis:

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet—or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy...until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles. Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth’s ne’er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Roger’s precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis, played by Jackie Earle Haley, and David’s new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.

Burton's comedic take take on Dark Shadows hits theaters on May 11th.

Scientist Says Dinosaurs Could've Been Smart If Not Smarter Than Humans

Dr. Ronald Breslow makes a claim in science today saying advanced dinosaurs such as T-rex's had the capability to expand their mind to the level of intelligence of todays modern human according to TGDaily. This shouldn't come as any surprise to the geek community as we've already encountered working class dinosaurs (Dinosaurs, Flinstones), Raptors that can open doors (Jurassic Park) and humanoid dinos who live on distant planets (Dinosaucers, Star Trek). Common knowledge really for us, but good to know the rest of the world managed to catch up.

Watch some intelligent dino videos below.

James Bond SKYFALL - Six New Official Images

0
0

Here's six new official photos for the highly anticipated Sam Mendes James Bond movie Skyfall. There's still very little information that's been released for the film. The only thing we have to go off of is the short synopsis released at the start of production, which says "Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost." Anything revealed from here on out will be a complete surprise.

Skyfall also stars Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCrory and Ola Rapace. Check out the images below featuring Daniel Craig looking slick as hell as 007.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - EW Cover and Promo Image of Catwoman

The Dark Knight Rises might just be the most anticipated film of the year. This is Christopher Nolan's final chapter in his franchise, and I can't wait to see how he ends it! Entertainment Weekly has revealed their Summer Movie Preview cover for the movie featuring Batman (Christian Bale) and Catwoman (Anne Hathaway). In the issue Nolan and the cast discuss the movie and its characters.

Nolan talks about Bane saying that “He represents formidable physical strength, combined with absolute evil of intention.” Hardy goes on to discuss Banes voice saying...

It’s a risk, because we could be laughed at — or it could be very fresh and exciting. The audience mustn’t be too concerned about the mumbly voice. As the film progresses, I think you’ll be able to tune to its setting.

Nolan goes on to talk about Catwoman next saying, "She has a very strong way of protecting herself and those she cares about, which implies an underlying darkness." Hathaway adds,

I had to physically transform. Chris sat me down at the beginning and said, ‘Joseph Gordon-Levitt did all of his own fighting in Inception. That one zero-gravity fight? He trained for two months.’ I basically left his office and went to the gym and just came out about five minutes ago.

To read more you'll have to pick up the upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly. As a bonus, below you'll find a detailed new promo image featuring Catwoman.

What aspect of this movie are you looking forward to seeing most unfold on the big screen?

AMC Developing New Series from WALKING DEAD Creator Robert Kirkman

0
0

AMC is set to develop a TV series adaptation of The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman's new produced comic book called Thief of Thieves. The series will be a series of heist stories, and here's what Kirkman had to say about it in a statement,

Much like The Walking Dead brought horror to television in a unique and groundbreaking way, I feel Thief of Thieves can do the same thing for heist stories, showing the humanity of all the characters, including the criminals.

The story "centers on master thief Conrad Paulson who, while attempting to reconcile with his estranged wife and son, vows to walk the straight and narrow, only to discover he’s completely addicted to the thrill of stealing. Now he must feed his addiction by stealing only what has been stolen, as the Thief of Thieves.”

I'm a sucker for good heist films, so if they are looking to reinvent it in a groundbreaking way for television you can count me in! I have yet to read any of the comics, but it really sounds like it could be a fantastic new series. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

The comic is being written by Nick Spencer, and the art for it will be created by Shawn Martinbrough. Chic Eglee will jump on board as the potential series showrunner, and will executive produce alongside Kirkman and Walking Dead executive producer David Alpert.

Do you think this comic will make for a awesome TV series?
