IRON SKY - First 4 Minutes of the Moon Nazi Invasion Film

$

If you're excited to see see moon Nazis invade earth, here's the first four minutes of the sci-fi film Iron Sky. The clip shows a lunar expedition that surprisingly comes across a massive Nazi base on the moon. From what I've seen in previous trailer, the movie looks like a lot of fun. The film recently screened at SXSW, and unfortunately the reviews I've seen haven't been kind. As outrageous and crazy this film looks like it could be, according to some of the reviews I've read, it doesn't take it to the level of lunacy that it should. I'll still give the film a chance, as the premise is so ridiculous.

Here's the story breakdown:

Towards the end of World War II the Nazi scientists made a significant breakthrough in anti-gravity. From a secret base built in the Antarctic, the first Nazi spaceships were launched in late ‘45 to found the military base Schwarze Sonne (Black Sun) on the dark side of the Moon. This base was to build a powerful invasion fleet and return to take over the Earth once the time was right.

Now it’s 2018, and it’s the time for the first American Moon landing since the 70?s. Meanwhile the Nazi invasion, that has been over 70 years in the making, is on its way, and the world is goose-stepping towards its doom. The three main characters of the story are Renate Richter (Julia Dietze), Klaus Adler (Götz Otto), and James Washington (Christopher Kirby).

The film will get U.S. distribution, but as of right now there's no release date. Will you be giving this film a chance?

Geek Art: Bat Badman!

I would be scared to death if I ran into this evil version of Batman in a dark ally. Hell! I'd be scared if I ran into him at the beach in the middle of a nice sunny day. This character design comes from CGHUB artist Stepanchikov, and it's utterly terrifying!

The image gives us a great glimpse of what The Joker would look like as Batman. This was the winner of a art contest for superheroes turned villains.

PROMETHEUS - Insanely Cool Fan-Made Poster Art

Check out this incredibly badass series of fan-made posters for Ridley Scott's Prometheus. These were designed by artist Midnight Marauder, and I love what he's done. These days fan-made posters are getting much better than the posters being released by the studios. One of the things I like most about them is the old school 1970s feel that they have. I can't wait to see this movie!

DAYS MISSING Being Developed for Film and TV

Acclaimed graphic novel Days Missing is headed to the big screen. Deadline reports that Benderspink and Roddenberry Entertainment have teamed to develop the project for television and film. This is the first Roddenberry property since J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek and the first TV show based on a Roddenberry property since Andromeda and Star Trek: Enterprise.

Here is what JC Spink, co-founder of Benderspink, had to say about the project:

We see this as such a strong concept that it could be done as a television show and feature trilogy at the same time. And, we’re extremely excited to work with Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth.

Days Missing creator Trevor Roth had this to say:
Benderspink is a team of creative professionals who really understand Roddenberry’s brand of science fiction and the potential of this property. This partnership plans on doing more than just adapting a comic book story—we want to use television and film to expand the Days Missinguniverse.
Here is a description of the graphic novel:

Days Missing® is an accounting of extraordinary 24-hour periods of time that have changed the course of humanity’s evolution, but have been erased from human memory by a mystical and ancient being known as The Steward. These “days missing,” recorded in the annals of The Steward’s library, represent a lost human history that explains much more about who we are than we ever knew.

Here is what Rod Roddenberry had to say:
Days Missing is another wonderful example of the kind of science fiction Roddenberry stands for—an exploration of the human condition wrapped up in an extraordinary adventure that not only entertains but challenges audiences to think, question and explore. The depth of its characters and the relevance of its dilemmas provide opportunity for viewers to emotionally involve themselves in the story.
The third novel in the series, Days Missing: Enox is in production and set for release in 2012. It will detail the "anticipated conflict between The Steward and his nemesis, as the series’ protagonist is forced to decide between himself and humanity."

The story sounds really cool, and I would love to see how it will translate to the big/small screen. Who would you like to see star in the film or TV version?

IRON MAN Created in the Style of Pixar

Check out this great CG image of Tony Stark intensely working on his Iron Man suit while drinking a bottle of booze in his lab. This piece of art was created by Victor Hugo, and it gives us an idea of what a Marvel film might look like if developed by Pixar Animation. I would love to one day see Pixar take on a Marvel property.

The image has an awesome amount of detail, here's a note from the artist telling us how th image came into existance,

The original idea was to reproduce one of the “Armor Wars” cover, but it looks that I’ve changed a little my mind during the project. This one was a awesome challenge, because I’ve never modeled a car and neither an Iron Man armor (ok, I didn’t modeled exactly the movie armor, but something, ahn… “between”). Another good challenge was to give some tries on 3ds max Hair and Fur – and damn, it is quite impressive! =)

I love that the artist loves his own work. What's your favorite part about this image?

New PROMETHEUS Viral Video Shows The Birth Of David

A new Prometheus viral video was released online called "Our Family Is Growing". Today the viral website was also updated with an all new company timeline for Weyland Industries.

Here is a sample timeline:

Using a precursor to the atmospheric processor of his own invention, Peter Weyland is able to generate a localized synthetic atmosphere above the polar ice cap, effectively ending global warming. - February 2, 2016

Using capital from his 2015 success, Weyland acquires copyrights to technology developed by NASA’s innovative but poorly funded Project Prometheus. With Weyland’s significantly augmented funding for the project, JIMO became a reality and proves the existence of simple life in Europa’s ocean. - December 19, 2017

Weyland manufactures the first advanced android prototype model of its kind. He is affectionately called David, a name Sir Peter Weyland had initially reserved for his own human son. - January 7, 2025

Weyland makes significant adjustments to the David android prototype, facilitating David’s first interaction with humans. This initial meeting is very promising. - January 1, 2028

After years of litigation, Weyland wins the David patent lawsuit against the Japanese start-up Yutani Corporation, effectively protecting the investments of both Weyland Industries and its shareholders. - December 12, 2029

Discovery of Archeron LV-426
Weyland astronomers discover multiple moons and a ringed planet just outside the Zeta 2 Reticula System, which are possibly able to support life. Weyland expects to travel there within the century. - May 14, 2039

For anyone that is a fan of the Alien franchise they will see plenty of nods in the timeline to the original film and the sequels that followed. Here is a heads up look in timeline for colonial marines, power loaders, and prison colonies.

If you have not checked out the new extended trailer, click here to do so. The Prometheus crew consists of: Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron), Captain Janek (Idris Elba), Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green), Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and David (Michael Fassbender).

Prometheus arrives in theaters on June 8. The video is narrarated by Fassbender (or so I think) and shows the birth of his robot. Check out the new viral video below and share your thoughts:

Based on the timeline, it looks as though the film will have a number of nods to the original films. Do you think that Fassbender or Lance Henriksen make a better robot crew member?

Gerard Butler Cast in OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN

According to Variety, Millennium Films wasted no time in casting their newly acquired film Olympus Has Fallen. Gerard Butler has signed on to star in the action thriller, which is described as "Die Hard" in the White House, story that follows "a down-on-his-luck ex-Secret Service agent who becomes America's only hope when 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. is taken over by terrorists."

Butler is a decent actor, but I thoroughly enjoy it when he takes on action films. There is no word yet when this film will be released, but as soon as we find out, we will let you know. Do you enjoy watching Butler in the films he makes? What you favorite movie that he's done so far?

Will Zack Snyder's Clark Kent Wear Glasses in MAN OF STEEL?

$

0

From everything we've seen of Zack Snyder's Man of Steel so far we still haven't seen Hanry Cavill's Clark Kent wearing glasses. There's been a little bit of discussion about this already, but Snyder recently id an interview with Carson Daily in which he talks about making a "relevant" superman film. In the process he makes a point of saying how ridiculous he thinks Clark's glasses are. He jokes about the fact that Clark uses his glasses in order to disguise the fact that he's also Superman. This leads me to believe that maybe, just maybe Snyder has taken that away from the character in his version of Superman.

Snyder also talks about his career in the interview but if you want to see what he had to say about The Man of Steel skip to the 4:15 mark in the video below. Man of Steel come out on June 14th, 2013. What do you think about the possibility of Calrk not wearing his iconic glasses?

Earlier today at WonderCon we were shown a 5-minute clip from the Guy Pearce sci-fi film Lockout. That clip has found it's way online, and it looks like it will be a very fun flick. I love the character played by Pearce, and the special effects look great, especially for a lower budget film. I just hope it turns out as good as it looks.

The film was directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger, and Film District will release it on April 20th. It also stars Maggie Grace, and Peter Stormare

The story follows "a man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. He's offered his freedom if he can rescue the president's daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates."

Check out the clip! Is this a movie you'll go out and see?

Buffy the Vampire SlayersAnthony Head has been cast in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of MonstersTHR reports that the prolific British-born television and film actor will be stepping in for Pierce Brosnan to play Chiron. Head recently starred in The Iron Lady and TV's Merlin. Chiron is an important character in the films and is in charge of Camp Half-Blood, where demigods are trained and protected.

Thor Freudenthal is directing the sequel, which is set for release in 2013. Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson, and Jake Abel are returning in the lead roles. Earlier we reported that Nathan Fillion is set to play Hermes. The film is based on Rick Riordan's books. Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief grossed $226.5 million worldwide in 2010.

I enjoyed the first film, and think the sequel is shaping up well. Fruedenthal is a solid choice to direct, and he will hopefully bring some new energy to the franchise. Do you think that Head will make a good Chiron?

THE DEVIL'S CARNIVAL Horror Musical - Full Theatrical Trailer

Here's the first full-length trailer for Darren Lynn Bousman's new dark movie musical, The Devil's Carnival. The movie definitely looks interesting. It's not going to appeal to everyone, but if you liked Repo: The Genetic Opera, then I'm sure this is the movie for you. This film looks like it's going to end up being just as crazy. I'm not a big fan of carnivals to begin with--maybe I had a bad experience at one, but I think they're scary as hell.

Bousman says that this film is "more accessible than Repo but also a lot darker than Repo.” He went on to explain the the movie will get a roadshow release that will hit 30 cities starting in April, with a companion 13-song album. The tour will also “[turn] venues into environments that tie to the movie and that will encourage audience participation.”

I'm sure this could be a fun movie-going experience, especially with the audience getting involved. I wouldn't mind checking it out. The movie stars Paul SorvinoAlexa VegaBill Moseley, and Ogre of Skinny Puppy, all from Repo! It also includes Jessica LowndesSean Patrick FlanneryBriana EviganIvan MoodyMarc Senter, and Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan from Slipknot.

With their signature tastes for horror flicks and rock music, Bousman and Zdunich have fired up an underworld unlike any other in this genre-bending, groundbreaking new series. In THE DEVIL'S CARNIVAL, sinners are invited to a theme park where they endure the repetition of their transgressions. Lucifer and his colorful cast of singing carnies guide these lost souls through their wild, warped amusement park.

Watch the trailer and let us know if this is something you might watch.
