Here's the trailer to a charming looking film called Jesus Henry Christ, which has a great cast that includes Michael Sheen and Toni Collette. The story basically follows a 10-year-old genius who's a test tube baby that goes on a search for his father. The movie looks like it's one of those quirky indie feel good comedies.

Here's the Synopsis:

Precocious doesn't even begin to describe Henry James Herman, a petri dish child who writes rabble-rousing manifestos on the nature of truth... at age 10. This boy-genius misfit's world turns upside down when--to the dismay of the doting single mother who raised him--he embarks on a search for his biological father.

The movie was directed by Dennis Lees, and it comes out on April 20th, 2012. Check out the trailer below.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: BLOOD AND CHROME - Incredibly Badass Trailer!

An incredibly badass trailer has just been released for SyFy's Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome 2-hour pilot. This trailer was recently screened at WonderCon, and it it was cut in the style of the trailer for David Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. It even includes that great cover of "Immigrant Song," and it's more awesome. As a huge fan of the Battlestar Galactica series, I'm excited as hell to see this thing! The footage in the trailer actually gave me goosebumps. It looks so epically cool that it should be a feature film! This is going to be one hell of a hardcore sci-fi series. It looks incredibly ambitious. The new series will focus on the adventures of a young William Adama during the 10th year of the first Cylon war.

Here's the full synopsis:

Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, the sentient robotic Cylons, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a young, talented fighter pilot, William Adama (Luke Pasqualino), finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful Battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and in pursuit of the intense action that the Cylon war promises, Adama quickly find himself at odds with Coker (Ben Cotton), the battle-weary officer to whom he reports. With 47 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle just as much as Adama craves the start of it. Though they clash at first, the two men forge an unlikely bond when a routine mission turns dangerous and becomes a pivotal one for the desperate fleet.

Joining Pasqualino and Cotton in the cast is Lili Bordan, who will play Dr. Beka Kelly, a Ph.D. who worked for Graystone Industries that created the Cylon robots. Currently assigned to a secret military mission, Beka and Adama quickly establish a rapport.

Now watch the trailer and tell us what you think about what you see!

Darren Aronofsky's NOAH Officially Moving Forward with Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe is officially set to take on the title role in Darren Aronofsky's upcoming film Noah. The movie is a retelling of the legendary Bible story. Crowe might also be joining Liam Neeson, who would be the villain in the story. Christian Bale was attached to the role at one point but had to drop out due to his commitment to the Terrence Malick-directed films Lawless and Knight Of Cups

According to Deadline, the movie is schedule to start shooting in July. As a big fan of Aronofsky and his films, I'm very excited to see his vision of this biblical tale brought to life. It sounds like it could be incredible.

This is a project that Aronofsky has been very passionate about. He's already made a comic book adaptation. According to the director, the inspiration for Noah came from a 1976 Sunn Pictures documentary called In Search of Noah's Ark that he watched when he was kid, and he is a "huge fan." In a few previous interviews he talked about his vision of Noah, saying,

Noah was the first person to plant vineyards and drink wine and get drunk. It’s there in the Bible - it was one of the first things he did when he reached land. There was some real survivor’s guilt going on there. He’s a dark, complicated character. The tragedies we perform on each other are so well reported. Quite clearly, the planet is dying, and we are dying on it.

I was stunned going back and realizing how dirty some of those stories are. They're not PG in any way. They're all about sleeping with your brother's sister who gives you a child who you don't know. That kind of stuff got censored out of our religious upbringing.

He went on to share his thoughts on the script,

It’s a great script and it’s huge… It’s the end of the world and it’s the second most famous ship after the Titanic. So I’m not sure why any studio won’t want to make it… I think it’s really timely because it’s about environmental apocalypse which is the biggest theme, for me, right now for what’s going on on this planet. So I think it’s got these big, big themes that connect with us. Noah was the first environmentalist. He’s a really interesting character. Hopefully they’ll let me make it.

Here's some other information on the kind of villain that Noah will be facing off against.

...there's a big villain part, gotta have a villain in the story of Noah," Wells added. "Someone who's saying 'Listen, don't listen to him. We're fine! We don't need to build any ark. Don't be so alarmist! Don't be so fundamentalist.' You know? One of those guys. So it sounded like a lot of fun, actually.

Are you looking forward to seeing this movie?

International Teaser Trailer for Genndy Tartakovsky's HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA

Here's the first trailer for Genndy Tartakovsky and Adam Sandler's upcoming CG animated film Hotel Transylvania. For those of you not familiar with Tartakovsky's work, he has developed several great animated series such as Dexter’s LaboratorySamurai Jack, and Star Wars: Clone Wars. This is going to be his first feature film. I've enjoyed his fun visual characterisations over the years, and I have faith that he'll give us something great with this one.

The trailer you see below is a international Russian teaser trailer so I have no idea what is being said. The visuals, tone, and style are pretty cool, though! You definitely get a solid taste of Tartakvosky's style and humor. Watch the trailer below, and let us know if it's something that you might be interested in watching.

Sandler will be playing Dracula in the story, Kevin James will play Frank – also known as Frankenstein – with Fran Drescher voicing Eunice, his in-your-face, over-the-top, and larger-than-life Bride. David Spade plays Quasimodo, once the hunchback of Notre Dame and now a crazy, passionate gourmet chef always looking for his next piece de resistance. Steve Buscemi and Molly Shannon will play Wayne and Wanda, a pair of married, harried werewolves, parents to an ever-increasing litter of pups, who are looking forward to their family vacation at the hotel. Cee Lo Green is also joining the cast as Murray, a boisterous Mummy, once entertainer to the great Pharaohs, now the life of the party, and always feeling the urge to let loose and sing. Finally, Andy Samberg will voice the role of Jonathan, a 21-year-old regular guy, carefree and full of life, whose world travels land him at the Hotel.

Here's the synopsis:

Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania, Dracula's (Sandler) lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free from meddling from the human world. But here's a little known fact about Dracula: he is not only the Prince of Darkness; he is also a dad. Over-protective of his teenage daughter, Mavis, Dracula fabricates tales of elaborate dangers to dissuade her adventurous spirit. As a haven for Mavis, he opens the Hotel Transylvania, where his daughter and some of the world's most famous monsters – Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more – can kick back in safety and peace. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem – but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.

Famke Janssen and Bill Skarsgard Cast in Eli Roth's HEMLOCK GROVE

Netflix has announced that Famke Janson (X-Men) and Bill Skarsgard have been cast in the lead roles of Eli Roth's upcoming horror series Hemlock Grove.

The Netflix series is based on Brian McGreevy’s upcoming gothic horror novel of the same name, which will be released on March 27th. The story is set against the “backdrop of our darkest myths, adolescent deceptions, ravenous relationships and rumors of a werewolf, the series re-imagines everything it means to be a monster as reflected in the struggle to be human.”

Here's a synopsis:

Hemlock Grove starts with the body of a young girl, mangled and murdered in the shadow of the former Godfrey steel mill. Some suspect an escapee from the White Tower, a biotech facility owned by the former steel magnates. Others believe the killer could be Peter, a 17-year-old Gypsy kid from the wrong side of the tracks, who tells his classmates he's a werewolf. Or it could be Roman (Skarsgard), the arrogant Godfrey scion, whose sister Shelley is disturbingly deformed and whose mother, Olivia (Janssen), the otherworldly beautiful and controlling grand dame of Hemlock Grove. As the crime goes unsolved and outlandish rumors mount, Peter and Roman decide to find the killer themselves, confronting unspeakable truths about themselves and Hemlock Grove as the mystery unfolds.

As a fan of horror and supernatual stories, I'm excited about this. It sounds like it could be great series worth watching. It actually sounds better than anything else that Eli Roth has worked on.

McGreevy and his writing partner Lee Shipman are adapting the book and co-writing the screenplay. The duo is also writting a reimagining of Bram Stoker’s Dracula for Warner Bros, Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way.

Here's the full press release with more details:

"Hemlock Grove," a gripping tale of murder, mystery and monsters set in a ravaged Pennsylvania steel town, starring Famke Janssen and Bill Skarsgard and produced by Gaumont International Television, will be available for Netflix members to watch instantly, beginning early in 2013.

"Eli Roth is a master of this genre and Brian McGreevy's brilliant novel gives Roth a world where he can create his magic," said Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer. "'Hemlock Grove' is a sly blend of J.D. Salinger and Mary Shelley and will appeal to a broad base of fans captivated by these rich characters and stunning visuals."

"I've been waiting for years to dive into television, and Eric Newman and I founded Arcade to do elevated genre projects exactly like 'Hemlock Grove.' Brian McGreevy's novel blew me away, and the material lends itself perfectly to long format storytelling. 'Hemlock Grove' is smart, dark, complex, and at times terrifying," said Eli Roth.

He added: "What's most exciting to me is creating the series for Netflix, which as a feature filmmaker is like telling a story in a new medium. Netflix as a platform is the perfect hybrid of cinema, television, and social networking, with the creative freedom to go as dark as the story needs."

The 13 episode first season of "Hemlock Grove" is Roth's first foray into serialized drama as a director and executive producer. "Hemlock Grove" is executive produced and written by McGreevy, author of the FSG Originals novel, and Lee Shipman. Also executive producing are Eric Newman, Michael Connolly and Mark Verheiden.

"It is an honor to be working with Eli Roth, a director whom I've admired for years, along with Brian McGreevy & Lee Shipman and the team at Netflix on this series," commented Gaumont International Television chief executive officer Katie O'Connell. "Netflix is the perfect platform for this exhilarating reinvention of the gothic mystery story. From day one, our mandate at Gaumont International Television has been to the produce high-quality drama programming for the U.S. and international markets and 'Hemlock Grove' certainly fits the bill."

PROMETHEUS - Epic High Res Image of Space Craft

Here's a great new high resolution image featuring a space craft from Ridley Scott's Prometheus. The image was revealed through the viral marketing campaign that was launched for the movie.

I don't know how people find time to figure these things out, but to gain access to the image, users figured out that if they added the word 'Eridu' to the URL, such as ProjectPrometheus.com/Eridu, and then type in "tell abu shahrain" as the password, you will get the image above.

So what does Eridu even mean? According to Wikipedia"Eridu is an ancient Sumerian city in what is now Tell Abu Shahrain, Dhi Qar Governorate, Iraq. Eridu was considered the earliest city in southern Mesopotamia, and is one of the oldest cities in the world. Located 12 km southwest of Ur, Eridu was the southernmost of a conglomeration of Sumerian cities that grew about temples, almost in sight of one another. In Sumerian mythology, Eridu was originally the home of Enki, who was considered to have founded the city, later known by the Akkadians as Ea. His temple was called E-Abzu, as Enki was believed to live in Abzu ("Deep Ocean"), an aquifer from which all life was believed to stem."

I have no idea what this has to do with the movie, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. Make sure to click on the image to enlarge! You can watch the epically awesome trailer for the film here if you haven't seen it yet, or just want to watch it again.

Synopsis:

In the distant future, two superpowers control Earth and fight each other for all the solar system's natural resources. When one side dispatches a team to a distant planet to terraform it for human colonization, the team discovers an indigenous race of bio-mechanoid killers.

Ridley Scott, director of Alien and Blade Runner, returns to the genre he helped define. With Prometheus, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Are any of you interested in watching a third Madagascar movie? It seems like the kids can't wait to see it! So, if you have any then you'll most likely end up seeing this new movie whether you want to or not. A full trailer has been released for Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, and the original cast of Ben StillerChris RockJada Pinkett SmithDavid Schwimmer, and Sacha Baron Cohen are back to reprise their roles.

I'll say that I almost always enjoy these kinds of animated films the first time around. But I find the more sequels these franchises get the less I enjoy watching them. I'll even end up not liking the original film in the franchise that I once enjoyed.

Heres the synopsis for the film:

Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and Melman the Giraffe are still fighting to get home to their beloved Big Apple and of course, King Julien, Maurice and the Penguins are all along for the comedic adventure. Their journey takes them through Europe where they find the perfect cover: a traveling circus, which they reinvent - Madagascar style.

The movie is set to be released on June 8th 2012. Have you enjoyed this animated franchise? Do you like the amount of sequels animated films are getting these days?

ENDER'S GAME Movie Production Blog Launched

For those of you Ender's Game fans excited about the movie, producer Roberto Orci has launched a production blog for the feature film. Ender's Game recently started shooting in New Orleans, and it seems as if things are going good so far. The blog's first entry included the image above with the following statement about the film's star Asa Butterfield, who plays Ender:

It took us all a second to realize Asa was right when he said Ender’s Game was an amazing book from “the late 1900s.”  We use that phrase all the time now, like, “Clinton was President in the late nineteen hundreds!”  Most of us read Ender’s Game when we were young and wondered when it would become a movie.  We never dreamed then that we would all be part of the team to bring it to the screen,  nor did we realize the novel’s description of our world would be so prescient that its vision would still be unfolding before our very eyes today. And now, watching Asa bring a character to life who has been on our minds since our youth we realize things happen for a reason.  We were waiting for him.  Make yourself comfortable, Ender!

It seems like everyone is enjoying Butterfield's take on this classic character, and it sounds like he's nailing it. Damn, I can't wait to see how this film turns out! Like many of you, I've been waiting for this movie for years! I hope director Gavin Hood will be able to take it to a level where fans will be happy and proud and make a movie worthy to carry the title of Ender's Game

DEATH OF A SUPERHERO - Official U.S. Trailer

Here's the first U.S. trailer to a coming of age cancer drama called Death of a Superhero. The film stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Love, Actually) as Donald, an aspiring comic book artist who is diagnosed with leukemia. The movie also Andy Serkis in a non-CGI role as Donald's therapist. Then, of course, there's the love interest in the movie, played by Aisling Loftus, who gives Donald a reason to live. The movie looks like a solid feel-good movie. Being a huge fan of art, I think it's cool that the movie incorporates the art into the story of the film with animation.

Here's the Synopsis:

Donald is a teenager with extraordinary artistic talents. His future as a graphic novel artist should be bright. As his life is consumed by fantastic daydreams, Donald soon discovers that a very real enemy is trying to kill him. With an unorthodox psychologist teaching Donald to find the light in life in an otherwise dark world, DEATH OF A SUPERHERO tells the story of discovering life, love, and death in this exceptionally honest portrayal of a teenage boy facing his own mortality.

I absolutely love this DVD cover art for David Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo! It fits so perfectly with themes of the movie. I really liked Finsher's film. It was extremely well made and incredibly intense, but it wasn't as good as some of his other previous films like Se7en and Zodiac

Do you think this could be the best DVD cover you've ever seen?

Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer To Get Modern Day Movie Makeover

Paramount Pictures has acquired a spec script from Andrew Burg (Bedtime Stories, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice) called Huck and Finn. The studio is planning to take Mark Twain's two classic literary characters, and give them a 21st century modern day makeover, which seems ridiculous, but could end up being cool. You never know with these kinds of films.

The only information we have to go off of is that it's a reimagining of these classic characters in the vein of Snow White and the Huntsman, and it will focus on the pair as adults. THR also says that there are supernatural elements in the story as well.

I love these 19th century characters that were created by Twain. Growing up I would read those books over and over again. It was amazing fun reading about the adventures that they lived in these novels. I related more to Huck Finn than I did Tom Sawyer, as I wasn't really a troublemaker growing up, but I enjoyed the Sawyer stories more because he was pretty mischievous and would do things I would have never done.

There have been a few film and TV adaptations of these characters that includes 1918's Huck and Tom starring Jack Pickford and Robert Gordon and Disney's 1995 version Tom and Huck, which starred Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Brad Renfro.

I really have no idea what to expect from this film project, but I hope ithas some fun ideas and turns out to be good. Where would you like to see the adult adventures of Tom and Huck go? Fighting an invading alien race alongside Indiana Jones could be cool.

New TV Spot for Pixar's BRAVE

Disney has released a new TV Spot for Pixar's great looking new film Brave. The Scottish set fairytale is scheduled to be released on June 22nd, 2012 and features the voices of Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson, Robbie Coltrane, and Julie Walters

The short spot shows a few brief snippets of new footage. I'm excited about this movie, and I think it's going to end up being one of Pixar's better films. Enjoy the spot!

Here's the synopsis:

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In "Brave," a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida's actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it's too late.

THE THREE STOOGES - Jackass Parody Trailer

In a last ditch effort to try to get The Three Stooges to appeal to a younger generation of moviegoers, the marketing team at Fox has cut a new and final trailer for the film that parodies Jackass. I'm sorry, but nothing is going to make this Farrelly Brothers-directed movie look good enough to spend my hard earned cash on. The trailer is worth watching only if you need more reasons not to see this movie.

Here's the Synopsis:

Left on a nun's doorstep, Larry, Curly and Moe grow up finger-poking, nyuk-nyuking and woo-woo-wooing their way to uncharted levels of knuckleheaded misadventure. Out to save their childhood home, only The Three Stooges could become embroiled in an oddball murder plot...while also stumbling into starring in a phenomenally successful TV reality show.

The movie stars Sean HayesWill Sasso, and Chris Diamantopoulos and is set to be released on April 13th, 2012. I'm curious to know if any of you thinks this movie looks like it will be worth watching in theaters?

Martin Campbell Directing THE DIVE

$

Martin Campbell is about to submerge himself for 20th Century Fox. Deadline reports that Campbell will direct The Dive, based on a script by J. Michael Straczynski (Changeling). The film tells "the true, tragic love story of freediver Francisco 'Pipin' Ferraras and his wife Audrey Mestre."

James Cameron was initially set to use the project as a directing vehicle for his Lightstorm team. The film will focus on "two pre-eminent free-divers who, with but a breath of air in their lungs, plunged to unimaginable depths before swimming back to the surface. Mestre died during an attempt to better her world record to 557.7 feet."

Camereon filmed Ferraras from a submersible sub, as he did a tribute dive in memory of his late wife, plunging to the depth that cost her life. This sounds like a perfect project for Cameron to direct, but with him working on Avatar 2 and 3, it is good for someone else to take over. Campbell is a solid director, despite his recent work on Green Lantern.

Does this sound like a film you are interested in seeing?

TMNT Co-Creator Talks Michael Bay Controversy

$

Co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Peter Laird, has weighed in on Michael Bay's comments relating to the new TMNT film on his personal blog. Bay spoke at a Nickelodeon event where he said that the Turtles would now be aliens or interdimensional beings and launched a massive firestorm of hatred from fanboys. Laird reiterates that he no longer has any control regarding the Turtles because Nickelodeon bought out his rights to the property. He writes,

...I would actually encourage TMNT fans to swallow the 'chill pill' Mr. Bay recently suggested they take, and wait and see what might come out of this seemingly ill-conceived plan. It's possible that with enough truly creative brainpower applied to this idea, it might actually work. I'm not saying it's probable, or even somewhat likely… but it IS possible.

Bay claimed in an update on his website's forums that one of the co-creators of the Turtles is involved in production. If Laird says he's not involved, does that mean co-creator Kevin Eastman is? Last I heard, Eastman wanted nothing to do with the franchise. Could Bay have changed his mind? While this may not be what fans wanted to hear, Laird isn't alone. Brian Tochi, voice actor for Leonardo in the live-action Turtles films said, "If Michael Bay wants to do a different take on the turtles origin story ... mazel tov!" Judith Hoag, April O'Neil from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, is no stranger to the works of Michael Bay admitting she was in Bay's Armageddon, as well as A Nightmare on Elm Street and I Am Number Four (both films that Bay produced). Does Laird's view change your mind on the new TMNT film?

David O. Russell To Direct AMERICAN BULLSH*T

The Fighter director David O. Russell is set to direct a new film over at Sony Pictures called American Bullsh*t. According to Variety, the script was written by Eric Singer, and the story "follows a con artist who works with the FBI in a far-reaching corruption case that stretches from Atlantic City to Washington, DC." I'm extremely curious to see what other details are included in this story and how it relates to the title of the film.

I like watching these kinds of movie thrillers, and I think Russell is an extremely talented director. I loved what he did with The Fighter, Three Kings, and I Heart Huckabees. Russell's next movie is The Silver Linings Playbook, which stars Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, and Chris Tucker. With him at the helm, American Bullsh*t should turn out to be a solidly good movie.

What do you think about the films Russell has directed in the past?
