Screen Shot 2014-04-30 at 4.40.07 PM.png

A second trailer has been released for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, and it includes a lot more footage from the film that you're either going to love or hate. We get a much better look at the updated turtle designs, as well as a short shadowy glimpse of big bad Shredder. The trailer is made to feel action-packed, but we still have yet to see the Ninja Turtles' fighting style in action. That's what I'm waiting for! The reason I'm so curious to see it is because It's been compared to the style of fighting used in The Raid. I also just want to point out that I absolutely hate the look of Donatello, and he was my favorite Ninja Turtle growing up. The movie will be released on August 8th. Does the latest trailer get you excited about the movie or does it piss you off?

Star Wars Slave Leia cosplay is everywhere which is why this Princess Leia on the planet Endor cosplay is so cool. With a passing resemblance to a young Carrie Fisher, cosplay artist Lady Lomax wears the poncho and helmet look, as well as the gray pants and vest look to perfection. In a few shots there is even a full sized Speeder made by Cinemastery Studios.

Aaron Williamson Cast as T-800 In TERMINATOR: GENESIS

Arnold Schwarzenegger will be joined by another T-800 Terminator machine in Terminator: Genesis. Body-builder Aaron Williamson revealed that he'll be playing a T-800 in the next installment of the franchise. Here's what he had to say:

“Thanks to an amazing team of people who help me get better each week, both physically & creatively, I’ll be playing a T-800 (Terminator) in the upcoming production ‘Terminator: Genesis’. I’m extremely grateful & motivated as this new chapter begins to take shape.”

What has yet to be seen is if he will be playing a new character in the movie, or just a younger version of the original model that Schwarzenegger made famous. In Terminator: Salvation they used a body-builder's body for the T-800 and then digitally added on Schwarzenegger's head. It looked awful, but technology has improved since then. When asked by TheTerminatorFans.com who he would be playing this was his reply:

“I’m not really at liberty to discuss anything w/ regard to this part. My social media followers have been following my journey since I returned to the states from Iraq, which is why I shared that photo; my desire to overcome adversity has really moved people. Where I’m at in my life right now is destiny & it’s truly a blessing. I grew up as a skinny kid watching the original Terminator & was fascinated by Arnold which is the man who inspired my career in fitness. To be a part of this production is a dream come true & a very special moment for me.”

The image above is something that he came up with and posted. As far as I know it's not official production art.

The film is being directed by Thor: The Dark World's Alan Taylor, and it also stars Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Byung-hun Lee, Michael Gladis, Sandrine Holt, and Laeta Kalogridis.

The rumored idea for the story is that it will weave together several ideas from the previous Terminator movies, and in the process give fans a fresh new story about Skynet's uprising and its plan to wage war on mankind. To read some possible spoiler information on the movie, click here

CAPTAIN AMERICA Vs. MASTER CHIEF - Super Power Beat Down Alternate Ending

The "Super Power Beat Down" web-series is back with an alternate ending to their controversial Captain America vs. Master Chief episode. Watching these two characters kick each other's ass is extremely entertaining. I've included two videos here… first there's the original, which I prefer because my boy Captain America wins. A lot of fans didn't like that outcome though, so now there's an alternate ending showing how Master Chief would win. The series comes from batinthesun, and here's a description of what it is:

The concept of the SPBD web series is to take two super powered legends and make them battle! Every month we will release a new episode, where viewers will be able to vote to determine the winner.

Watch the videos, and let us know which character you were rooting for!

Watch Unknown STAR WARS Actress Daisy Ridley in Short Film BLUE SEASON

With the announcement of Star Wars: Episode VII's cast, one name stuck out as being relatively unknown, that name being Daisy Ridley. She hasn't done anything of prominence until Star Wars and there has only been one photo of her circulating the internet.

DigitalSpy discovered a short film she did last year. It was made in less than 48 hours and had the following 2 requirements.

Line: "Is there ever a circumstance where hanging upside down can a good sign?"

Prop: A piece of A4 paper - a character reads what is written on it, folds it up and puts it in a bag or pocket.

This short doesn't give us a feel for what she will be like in Star Wars, but we do know what her voice sounds like, and what her presence on screen is like.

Will WOLVERINE 3 Be Based on Old Man Logan?

Hugh Jackman has been talking a lot about stepping away from his Wolverine role recently. It's bound to happen, but it doesn't sound like it will until he's finished with Wolverine 3. In a previous interview, the actor was asked if he would come back for the third movie, and he said "I am not signed on, but if I was a betting man, there's a good chance. Yes."

That movie may be the very last time we see Jackman kick ass as the popular comic book character. In a recent interview with SFX, the actor was asked about where he would like to take Logan in Wolverine 3, and this was his reply:

"I don’t know yet. We’re talking it through. I still am very ambitious for the character. And tonally I feel like we corrected the ship with the last one. But I feel we can still go further, in a way. If I did another one I’m 99.9% sure it would be the last, so that will inform what it is for me."

He then goes on to say that they are looking at Mark Millar's Old Man Logan comic run as a possible story for the third movie.

"Of course we’re looking at Old Man Logan, because that may be the only option left at this point! [laughs] We are looking at a lot of different storylines. No one has jumped out. You can tell from my answer that we’re still working it out."

I would love to see them adapt Old Man Logan. That series is amazing, and if this is going to be Jackman's last Wolverine movie, I don't see why they wouldn't do it. I'm excited to to see what the ultimately come up with!

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON — Photo of Cast and Crew at Brunch

Since joining Twitter Robert Downey Jr. has been feeding his fans innocuous photos from the production of Avengers: The Age of Ultron. But they are pretty cool in that they give us a glimpse into the dynamic of the cast and crew. Take this photo of the cast and crew at brunch. Other than the actors and director Joss Whedon, a lot of the faces are unfamiliar but no less important.

Movie sets and productions have an interesting energy about them. From the low paid grunt to the a-list actor, everyone recognizes that what they are doing is rare and special. There are more successful politicians than there are successful actors, directors, and writers combined. It's amazing to think of all the specialized talent and effort that go into telling good stories.

Two Action-Packed Clips from SON OF BATMAN

Mondo's JURASSIC PARK Soundtrack Vinyl Art http://geektyrant.com/news/mondos-jurassic-park-soundtrack-vinyl-art

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released two new great clips from their upcoming animated film Son of Batman. I had a chance to see this movie at WonderCon last month, and I was surprised by how good it was. The film was action-packed and had some fun brutal moments. I really enjoyed it, and the animation was some of the best I've seen from the DC Comics film series. I like how the style has evolved over the years and is moving away from the old school Bruce Timm style. Don't get me wrong, I love what he's done, but it's nice to see the animation team changing it up.

The first clip is called "Thug," and it features a fight scene between little Damian and a giant thug named Ubu. It's kind of ridiculous watching this little kid kick this guy's ass around, but it sure is entertaining! The second clip is called "Fun," and in it Damian has taken on the role of Robin. It gives you a taste of some action and shows you what a little shit Damian is.

The movie is set to be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and digital download on May 6th.

Marvel CCO Joe Quesada Bashes MAN OF STEEL

Zack Snyder's Man of Steel wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be, but it still managed to keep me entertained. There was a lot that I didn't like about the movie. My main gripe is how choppy the storytelling was — it didn't seem to flow very smoothly. Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada has some bigger issues with it, though, and recently slammed the movie in an interview with ComicBook.com, saying that it actually had him rooting for the villain, Zod. We all know that's not what Snyder was going for, but Quesada does make some good points. Here's what he said:

"As a comic book fan, I wanted to love that movie so much. I wanted to love it so much, and I didn’t love it so much. Again, there are little things here and there that you could pick at and things like that, but I just think at the end of the day, Zod was the hero of the movie to me… He wanted to save his race, and Superman didn’t let him.

"Zod, in this particular incarnation, struck me as not necessarily an evil man, but a man of… he had a particular… he had his orders, he had a mission. He was a zealot of sorts, but he was a zealot… again, correct me if I’m wrong… but he didn’t say, ‘I want to rebuild Krypton, and then come back and destroy this little planet. All I want is to rebuild this planet. And the only reason I’m blowing everything to bits here is because you’ve got what I want, and you’re not giving it to me. So please, give me my people, and I’ll leave.’… When Superman said Krypton had its chance, I was like, ‘Will you just f***ing kill him, Zod?’"

Yes, I know Zod was planning to destroy Earth regardless of whether or not Superman gave him what he wanted, but Quesada believes that there could have been a better solution, something that didn't involve Superman abandoning his own race. He went on to explain:

“You probably could have written a way around it. You could have had a better solution if you had written a better problem. So I see things like that, and I’m like, ‘Aww, man.’ It was one of some things in the movie, that I just ended up feeling disappointed in it.”

Do you agree with Quesada's point of view? Are there any other story options that you can think of that wouldn't end with Zod destroying Earth?

I couldn't be more excited that Star Wars actor Mark Hamill is officially reprising his role as Luke Skywalker in J.J. Abrams' Episode VII. There's no doubt that he's extremely excited himself. I know George Lucas talked about these plans with him years ago, but the fact that it's actually happening is extraordinary.

The actor recently sent out a couple of Tweets from the set to of the film. One confirming what we all know now, and the other commenting on his "diverse" and "extraordinarily talented" new cast members. Here they are:

I know Abrams is going to be keeping a lot of things secret about this production, but I hope we keep getting little updates like this from the actors while the film is in production. There's still some more casting that need to be announced for this movie, which is expected to come on May 4th, so stay tuned for those details!

In anticipation of The Amazing Spider-Man 2's theatrical release this weekend, I thought I'd post this incredibly cool parkour video from Ronnie Street Stunts. It features the web-slinging superhero performing some spectacular parkour moves. I would love to wake up one day and just know how to do this kind of stuff. I know it doesn't work like that, but it should, dammit.

One of the funniest films I've seen this year is the vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows. I saw it at Sundance earlier this year, and it had me busting up laughing from beginning to end. This is a must watch movie for anyone who loves to laugh, and I think most of you will really enjoy it. The first trailer for the movie has been released, and it offers a little taste of the type of comedy that you'll see. Luckily, they don't give away the best parts of the movie.

The story follows a small group of vampires residing in Wellington, New Zealand and how they live their lives. It was written and directed by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement. This is the team that brought us the films Boy and Eagle Vs. Shark. The cast includes Clement, Waititi, Jonathon Brugh, Cori Gonzalez-Macuer, Rhys Darby, and Stu Rutherford. Here's the synopsis:

Viago (379 years old), Deacon (183 years old), Vladislav (862 years old), and Peter (8,000 years old) are vampires who have chosen to share a flat in Wellington, New Zealand. Unfortunately for them, it’s hard to make new friends due to their constant thirst for blood. Without any mortal chums left to invite them in to all of the hip establishments around town, they’ve lost touch with the current social scene, but hope to put aside their differences as roommates and adapt to modern society.

There's no information on when it will be released yet, but we'll let you know as soon as a date is announced! You can read my review of the film here, or you can watch our video review here

Syfy to Adapt Frank Miller's RONIN as a Miniseries

syfy-to-adapt-frank-millers-ronin-as-a-miniseries

Syfy has announced that they will be bringing Frank Miller's amazing 1980s DC Comics graphic novel, Ronin, to the small screen. There was a time when director Darren Aronofsky tried to adapt the comic as a feature film, but unfortunately, it never happened. I would have loved to see Aronofsky's vision of this story brought to life. Syfy's plan is to turn it into a miniseries.

The comic was published over the course of six weeks between 1983-84. The original story centers on "a legendary warrior -- the Ronin, a dishonored, masterless 13th century samurai -- who is mystically given a second chance to avenge his master's death. He finds himself suddenly reborn in a futuristic and corrupt 21st century New York where he must defeat ancient demon Agat, the reincarnation of his master's killer."

According to THR, Syfy's take on the comic is set "eight centuries after a Japanese Ronin samurai failed to protect his master from a demon. He awakens in a futuristic, nihilistic New York in the body of Billy, a medical experiment. Now Billy/Ronin is chasing the demon, which has reawakened. Both parties want control of a sword with magical properties and will stop at nothing to get it back."

I always loved this comic because of its extremely cool story. I really wish that we had gotten a movie version of it. I always felt it deserved the big screen treatment — not just because the story is great, but because the visual style would be amazing. I hope that Syfy can give this comic the quality production value that it deserves. The channel has been hit and miss with their series, but this could be one of the best things they've ever done if they get the right talent involved.

The network is currently on the hunt for a writer, and there's no word on how many episodes the miniseries will be.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII — How J.J. Abrams Battled to Keep the Cast a Secret

The only director I can think of who is as secretive as J.J. Abrams is Christopher Nolan, and even then I don't think Nolan goes to the extremes that Abrams is rumored to go to. Information about the new Star Wars trilogy leaked before Abrams involvement, but since then it seems like things have been tightened up.

According to the Hollywood Reporter:

It took nine months of meet-and-greets, script readings and screen tests, all conducted with more secrecy than a raid on the Death Star, for director J.J. Abrams, Lucasfilm and Disney to assemble the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII: John Boyega, 22; Adam Driver, 30; Domhnall Gleeson, 30; Oscar Isaac, 35; Daisy Ridley, 22; Andy Serkis, 50; and Max von Sydow, 85, who were unveiled April 29, will join original stars Mark Hamill, 62, Carrie Fisher, 57, and Harrison Ford, 71. Abrams cast a wide net, with actors asked to read material that was not from the top secret script. They couldn't tell anyone for which parts they were reading, and their agents and publicists had to sign strict nondisclosure agreements.

Despite such efforts, sites like Latino-Review, HitFix, and Variety were able get around these security measures to break news on some of the above listed actors and production details. A few things we posted as rumors that are now confirmed Adam DriverMillennium Falcon, and PineWood Studios.

But casting rumors for Andy Serkis, Oscar Isaac, and Daisy Ridley didn't beak until right before the official announcement. So at the moment, I think Abrams and crew are holding up better than expected given how easy it is for information to leak.

Star Wars: Episode VII's release date of December 18th, 2015 is a long way away, and this battle for secret information is just warming up.

Han Solo is the kind of guy who isn't afraid to shoot first and ask questions later. We've got a great animated short that I think you'll enjoy, called "Han Always Shoots First." It was created by the team at Dorkly. Like many of you, I have always hated that George Lucas re-edited the classic scene where Han shoots Greedo. It always made sense to me that Han would shoot first. He'd be stupid not too, and Han isn't a stupid man.

SHARKNADO 3 Coming to Syfy

The SyFy channel has announced that they are preparing to start development on a third Sharknado movie. It doesn't surprise me that they are making another one, but at the same time, this is such a stupid-ass franchise. Thanks to the power of Twitter, though, the sharknado will live on, just hopefully not forever.

The sequel, Sharknado: The Second One, was recently shot in New York, and it's set to premiere this summer on July 30th. Tara Reid and Ian Ziering reprise their roles. They are also joined by Vivica A. Fox, Andy Dick, and Mark McGrath.

There's no information on what the title of the third film will be or who will star. But seeing what they are doing with the sequel, I imagine it will be called Sharknado: The Third One, and Reid and Ziering will reprise their roles in that one as well.

Do you think these sequels will be just as popular and talked about as the first one?

In anticipation of the new Dawn of the Planet of the Apes trailer being released next week, FOX has offered a little tease of what's to come on Instagram. This looks like it's going to be a great sequel. They showed off really cool footage at WonderCon last month, some of which was really intense and frightening. They explained that this movie focuses on a point where the humans and apes could have worked things out and coexisted. Of course, we all know that doesn't work out too well for the humans. I'm really interested to see how this all plays out. In a previous interview, Andy Serkis discussed the story a bit, saying:

"This is now a community of about 2,000 apes. For the first eight years [after the humanity-devastating virus], the apes were looking down from Muir Woods to San Francisco and could see lights and fires, but now it's gone very quiet. Until this day in our film when this small band of humans comes up. That's suddenly a huge, dividing moment in the lives of these apes. There are some particularly strong reactions to the humans and that's the course of the story."

The movie will be released in theaters on July 11th. Stay tuned for the new trailer coming out next week!

This insanely savage Joker vs. Batman illustration comes from Ardian Syaf. The piece was done in watercolors, and the outcome is jaw-droppingly impressive. This New 52 Joker design is absolutely terrifying. If Warner Bros. ever brings the Joker back into another Batman movie, I wonder if they would use this character design. I guess if they want to keep their PG-13 rating there's no way they could go with it, could they? I also included an great illustration that Syaf did for Batman's 75th birthday below.
