Disney Developing IT'S A SMALL WORLD Movie with Jon Turteltaub

In my opinion, It's A Small World is seriously the most boring ride at the Disneyland theme parks, but it is also the thing nightmares are made out of. I love going to Disneyland, but that is one ride that I just loath. I know not everyone will agree with me, but I've just hated it since I was a kid. The boringness of it though won't stop Disney from adapting it into a movie!

According to Deadline the studio has hired National Treasure director Jon Turteltaub to direct the movie. I wonder how many times they will play that god-awful theme song throughout the course of the movie.

The idea was pitched to the studio by Jared Stern, who will also write the script for the movie. He previously worked on films such as Wreck-It Ralph, The Internship, and The Lego Movie 2. He will also produce the film alongside Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes, The Lego Movie).

There's no word on if the film will be live-action or animation, and there's no information on what the story will entail, but I imagine that it will involve some kind of world traveling adventure where everyone sings "It's a small world." I can honestly tell you that I'm so not looking forward to this movie… unless they turn it into a horror film! That's something I would be ok with.

DR. HORRIBLE Art by James Hance - "That's The Plan - Rule The World"

Artist James Hance has created this awesome drawing for the cult classic web-series Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Hance is an amazing artist, and this turned out beautiful. The artist had this to say,

There we go! Really, really happy with how this turned out  Considering making a few prints of this, should you need one. Ultimately I'd love to create a full color version on a larger scale - but this certainly has the heart I was going for.

Dr. horrible is a creation of Joss Whedon, and it has a huge following. There has been talk of a sequel for years. The team of talent has been slowly but surly developing it, and one of the last things were heard is that there is music already written. I'm sure the sequel will eventually happen, it's only a matter of time.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Featurette "Electro vs. Spiderman"

In this newest featurette from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, actor Jamie Foxx talks about Max Dillion's transformation into Electro. Some of the footage of Electro looks new, but with so much footage already out there, I'm starting to have a hard time discerning what we've seen before. The movie is already open in much of the world, and I've already had to delete several reader comments containing spoilers and even had to blacklist one commenter who seemed fully intent on spoiling the movie for American readers.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 finally gets around to American theaters May 2

We've got a fun few things to share with you today regarding Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron. First of all Nuke The Fridge talked with Lou Ferigno at WonderCon this last weekend, and he confirmed that he would be back to provide the voice of The Hulk. He previously did "Hulk Smash!" in Louis Leterrier's The Incredible Hulk and "Puny God" in The Avengers. I wonder if he'll have more dialogue this time around. Kevin Feige has said that the Hulk will have a much bigger role to play this time around. Thanks to some previously released concept art for the film, we know that he will be going up against Tony Stark's Hulk Buster armor, so that will be cool to see!

Then Mark Ruffallo tweeted out a couple of photos from the set of of the movie. One of them gives us a Black Widow tease, the other features him and his buddy Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. I'm really excited about seeing these two actors together again. Bruce Banner and Tony Stark make such an amazing team. I hope one day, before Downey Jr. retires as Iron Man,  Marvel makes a movie that focuses on on those two character going off on some kind of crazy adventure because that would be amazing.

Age of Ultron will be released in theaters on May 1st, 2015.

An awesome new trailer has been released for Robert Rodiguez and Frank Miller's long awaited sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. When the movie is released in theaters on August 10th, 2014 it will have been ten years since the first film that was released. When I first saw that thing I was blown away. At the time, and the way the film was made, it was just the coolest thing I had seen. I loved it, and the sequel looks like it's going to be just as good. I'm very excited to see what they've created for us this time.

CineFix has released one of their most epic Homemade Shot for Shot trailers yet… Godzilla! It's like they used whatever they had laying around their houses to bring this sweded trailer to life. The cardboard production value they added to it really takes the video to a whole new level of awesome. Seriously though, this movie is going to blow audiences away!

TMNT NYC Van Chase Art by Eddie Nunez

One of my favorite parts of the Turtles lore is their fantastic ride, the turtle van. There have been many other vehicles introduced over the years, including the blimp, but back when I was a kid, it was all about the party van, including its bright yellow paint job and pop-out door. Eddie Nunez captures one of my favorite rides in pop culture beautifully here, complete with all four turtles and lackeys Bebop and Dr. Stockman along for the ride. Beyond the fantastic color work on display, Nunez translated each turtle’s personality onto the page. From Raph’s come and get some expression to Mikey’s giddiness, each character displays exactly what you’d expect. To peep more of Eddie’s work you can head to his Deviant Art page

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 - New Photos and Electro Concept Art

Sony Pictures has released a set of new photos from their fantastic looking new movie The Amazing Spider-Man 2. They feature Peter and Gwen looking very happy with each other. Then there's Norman Osborn above who looks like he's possessed by some kind of demon like in The Exorcist.

I've also included a few pieces of Electro concept art by illustration Keith Christensen. One of the designs looks like it comes right out of the world of Tron. I ultimately really like what the final design for the villain ended up being. The designs in the film look fantastic, I love everything I've seen, and I just hope they were able to pull together a great story and script.

Femme LOBO Cosplay

Eve Beauregard captures Lobo's raunchy, villainous attitude in this femme cosplay. She's got the chain, the leather, the snarl, the hair, and the makeup down, all she is missing is the facial stubble. Normally a femme version of a character shows more skin, but not in this case. Lobo normally only wears an open vest and pants, or just pants and no shirt at all. I'm pretty sure Lobo would approve of this cosplay and have a few lewd remarks for Beauregard.

Trailer for John Malkovich's Pirate Series CROSSBONES

NBC has released the first promo trailer for their pirate series Crossbones, which stars John Malkovich as Blackbeard the pirate. The series was created by Neil Cross, who is behind the acclaimed British drama Luther

I was sold on the series just with the casting of Malcovich as Blackbeard, and I'm happy to say that the trailer doesn't disappoint!  This series looks freakin' awesome, and Malcovich is perfect in this role! I think it's going to be way better than what Starz is doing with Black Sails.

As a huge fan of pirates I'm incredibly excited for this show. I honestly wasn't expecting something like this from NBC, so I'm pleasantly surprised by how great it looks.

Here's a detailed synopsis:

It’s 1715 on the Bahamian island of Santa Campana, the first functioning democracy in the Americas, where the diabolical pirate Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard (John Malkovich), reigns over a rogue nation of thieves, outlaws and miscreant sailors. Part shantytown and part marauder’s paradise, this is a place like no other on Earth – and a mounting threat to international commerce.

Teach/Blackbeard has set his sights on the world’s first longitude chronometer, a device that will change society, sea-trade and global business. In a massive attack on an English vessel, Blackbeard attempts to steal the device; however, Tom Lowe, an English spy working undercover as the ship’s surgeon, destroys the chronometer before it can fall into his hands. Taken as prisoner to Santa Campana Island, Lowe must find a way to reassemble the precious device, all while trying to unfold Blackbeard’s plan… a plan that includes a threat to the English throne even worse than pirates.

From the award-winning creator of “Luther,” Neil Cross, and award-winning executive producers Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald (“Gladiator,” “Men in Black”) comes an extraordinary action adventure with an unexpected moral center where one can’t be sure whether the pirates or the British crown are the villains. One-hour drama.

The series premieres on May 30th

Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero and Frozen's ice queen Elsa are two characters that are meant to be together. This cosplay photo of Sub-Zero sweeping Elsa off her feet proves it. I would love to see a live action or animated fan film that revolves around the adventures of these two icy troublemakers.

JURASSIC WORLD - First Photo of Bryce Dallas Howard and Sequels Planned

Universal Pictures has released three images from the set of director Colin Trevorrow's highly anticipated film Jurassic World. One of them give us our first look at the female lead Bryce Dallas Howard. The images come from EW and the director shared a fun little story from the set saying,

“Yesterday I was under a construction crane with Chris Pratt, covered with dirt, eyeballing the exact height of the dinosaur trying to kill him. We both cracked up laughing. Sometimes you just have to stop and let the joy take over.”

That's awesome, this would be such a fun movie to be a part of. At least we'll get to see all that fun up on the big screen, and this won't be the last film we see in the Jurassic Park franchise either. In a recent interview with Empire the director revealed that there are planning on other sequels. I should warn you there are potential spoilers ahead.

“We definitely talked about [sequels] a lot. We wanted to create something that would be a little bit less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story.”

I've enjoyed all of the Jurassic Park films that have been made, so I have no problems with the opportunity to watch more! He went on to talk about some of the characters that we might see in any sequels. One of them being the character played by Omar Sy.

“He’s essentially Chris Pratt’s best friend. They work together and have some pretty cool action scenes together. I wanted to create a relationship there that could be memorable and potentially carry on to future films.”

If that's the case then I guess both of those characters are going to survive the dinosaur devastation in the movie. Trevorrow then goes on to talk a little bit about the plot of the film explaining,

“It’s about alpha dominance and the fact that humans have been the alpha species for a very long time, and so now we’ve brought back another that happened to be the alpha species during its time, and we have to co-exist, so what is that relationship?”

The movie is set to be released on June 12th, 2015, and I love the feeling of anticipation that I have for it.

GODZILLA Roar Supercut - 1954-2014

I love Godzilla, and I'm so happy with how this upcoming new movie looks. The King of Monsters was first introduced to the world in 1954, and it's so cool to see how much on an iconic character it has become. Godzilla is about to get even more popular with his new film coming out. In celebration of the flick, YouTube user ortboys created a video supercut featuring all of the different Godzilla roars we've heard from 1954 to 2014. After having watched the video, I noticed how director Gareth Edwards implemented all of the different styles of roars into his own vision of the creature, and I love it!

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST - Japanese Trailer with New Footage

X-Men: Days of Future Past looks like it going to one hell of a kick-ass action-packed movie. We've got a Japanese trailer for the film to share with you today, and it's got some pretty cool new footage for you to check out. I do have to say that this was an oddly cut trailer. Usually the Japanese trailers are better than the domestic ones we get, but the pacing of it just seems off. It's still good though and worth watching.

The film will be based on the comic book storyline "Days of Future Past," which ran in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 back in 1981 during Chris Claremont and John Byrne's run and introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel's mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.

The movie is set to hit theaters on May 23rd.

This fantastic short film you're about to watch was inspired by a script outline by Precious screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher. The movie is called Exit Log, and the story takes place in the year 2249. It follows two astronaut engineers on a spaceship that can travel three minutes back in time. Things take a dramatic turn when they receive an emergency message from the past. "Can they decipher the message and decide their fate forever?"

The short was directed by Chris Cornwell, and it's part of a competition series called "The Imagination Series." Here's some information on what that is all about below:

The Imagination Series is a short film competition that aims to spark people's imagination by offering them the chance to have their own short film made through interpreting a script written by Academy Award® winning screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher. Entries were received from all over the world, a judging panel lead by Geoffrey Fletcher were tasked with selecting the 5 most imaginative films to be premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and online.

This was a beautifully shot film, with an intriguing story, and I hope you enjoy it.

We've got some more Godzilla awesomeness for you to check out today. Legendary Pictures has released a great new Japanese trailer, TV spot and the IMAX poster art that you can see above. Both of the trailers feature some never-before-seen footage from the highly anticipated film of monstrous destruction.

An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

The movie comes out on May 16th, and I'd like to think that it's going to be one of the biggest movies of the year.

The 3rd Hobbit Film Titled - THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF FIVE ARMIES

Peter Jackson has officially announced that the third and final film in the Hobbit trilogy will be called The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. It was originally supposed to be called The Hobbit: There and Back Again, and about a week ago a rumor hit that the movie wold be called The Hobbit: Into the Fire, but that obviously didn't stick.

Below you'll find the official announcement from Jackson's Facebook page. In it he explains the reason behind the title change.

Inside Information...

Our journey to make The Hobbit Trilogy has been in some ways like Bilbo's own, with hidden paths revealing their secrets to us as we've gone along. "There and Back Again" felt like the right name for the second of a two film telling of the quest to reclaim Erebor, when Bilbo's arrival there, and departure, were both contained within the second film. But with three movies, it suddenly felt misplaced—after all, Bilbo has already arrived "there" in the "Desolation of Smaug".

When we did the premiere trip late last year, I had a quiet conversation with the studio about the idea of revisiting the title. We decided to keep an open mind until a cut of the film was ready to look at. We reached that point last week, and after viewing the movie, we all agreed there is now one title that feels completely appropriate.

And so: "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" it is.

As Professor Tolkien intended, "There and Back Again" encompasses Bilbo's entire adventure, so don't be surprised if you see it used on a future box-set of all three movies.

Before then however, we have a film to finish, and much to share with you. It's been a nice quiet time for us—Jabez and I happily editing away in a dark cave in Wellington—but those halcyon days are quickly coming to an end. It will soon be time to step into the light. Expect to see and hear much about The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in the coming months.
And there's also The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Extended Cut, which we're in the process of finishing, with over 25 mins of new scenes, all scored with original music composed by Howard Shore.

It'll be a fun year!

Awe-Inspiring Video of What it's Like to Fly Through Fireworks

Some guy took out his phantom drone during a fireworks show, and sent it up into the line of fire to give us a glimpse at what it's like to being the middle of a barrage of exploding fireworks. The result is breathtakingly beautiful. I didn't think there would be much too it before I watch, but I found myself entranced and blissfully happy with what I was seeing. I'm sure the song they put in with it had something to do with how it made me feel as well. It was Arcade Fire's Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains), and it worked perfectly. If you want to see something magical today then watch this video!

Luckily the drone wasn't hit and sent out of control spinning through the sky on fire crash landing on a highway where it could cause a major accident or into an area that could catch on fire. It's so cool though! Thanks to io9 for the heads up.

The Japanese movie trailers have been rolling in today! We've already seen one for X-Men: Days of Future Past and Godzilla. Now Paramount Pictures has released one for Transformers: Age of Extinction. It opens up with an introduction from Mark Wahlberg, then it jumps into the explosive action. By the way, the movie is called Transformers: The Lost Age in Japan. The film is scheduled to be released on June 27th, and I'm hoping that this will be the best live-action Transformers movie made so far. Nothing will ever beat the original animated Transformers: The Movie though.
