Director Jon Favreau and Disney are pressing forward on their journey to develop a live-action big screen adaptation of The Jungle Book. They are looking to cast both Scarlett Johansson and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave). The two actresses are currently in negotiations with the studio.

If cast they will join Idris Elba (Thor) who is the only other person cast in the film at this time. He will be playing the villain Shere Khan, the man eating tiger in the live-action/CGI hybrid movie. Nyong’o would play Rakcha, a mother wolf who adopts Mowgli, Johansson would voice the character of the second villain of the film Kaa, the python who hypnotizes other animals and then eats them. The still have yet cast the lead character Mowgli.

Warner Bros. is also developing a a Jungle Book project with Andy Serkis set to direct. I'm definitely more excited for Favreau's version, and so far it looks like he's putting together a great cast. The movie is set to be released on October 9th, 2015.

Amazing Post-Apocalyptic Captain America Fan Art

A post-apocalptic version of Captain America!? Yes please! This badass illustration comes from artist Christopher Stevens. This is such a cool design. I especially love the colors and the suit design. It would be awesome to see this version of the character brought to life in some way. The artist had this to say about it:

I had this idea of a post apocalyptic Captain America and needed to paint him. I even thought about doing a series of these with different super heroes in the wasteland theme. Two of my favorite subjects mixed. I was trying some desaturation things on this one and playing with warm and cool (my favorite color contrast). This was a fun one.

Stevens really should create a superhero wasteland art series! I'd love to see him expand on this world he has created.

Dragon Age Inquisition Trailer Drops, as did my Jaw

Damn. Just Damn.

My gushing fandom aside, Dragon Age Inquisition just looks fantastic, and hopefully will appease even the most steadfast derider of Dragon Age 2. I count myself among the disappointed with Dragon Age's second outing, but everything I have seen so far of Inquisition is positive, slowly lifting away the cloud of cautious optimism.

The trailer displays one of the prominent goals of the new title, and that is the return of a grand epicness to the story. You are uniting kingdoms and cultures together to defend our world against the evil of the breach, a far cry from the more politics and civil war based tale in DA2.

Also of note is just how proud of Varric's facial features Bioware seems to be, as his face is front in center in every trailer or set of screens they release. Graphically it's quite impressive, don't get me wrong, just funny is all. Though Varric isn't the only familiar party member to get some shine, as Leliana makes her return to the series as well, which was a welcome addition to the admittedly large roster seen at the end of the trailer. While Bioware already announced there will be no DLC characters for Inquisition, I do hope for some cameos from favorites such as Isabella, Aveline, Sten (yes, I'm the one guy that actually like Sten), etc. Bioware previously advised that fan fave Morrigan is going to be a substantial part of the game, but will not be a controllable party member.

Did he just say pizza dress!? Why yes… as a matter of fact I did. I love it when the internet surprises me with ridiculous greatness like this animated gif of Cinderella's poor working girl outfit being magically transformed into a deliciously cheesy pepperoni pizza dress. It's fascinating to me that people actually think of this stuff. Who knows, maybe one day we'll see a full series of Disney princesses wearing pizza dresses!

Crazy Trailer for the Horror Thriller AS ABOVE, SO BELOW

Legendary Pictures and Universal Studios has released a cool trailer for an upcoming psychological horror thriller called As Above, So Below. This is one of those found footage style films. I know some people are getting tired of them these days, but as long as it looks entertaining I'll go and watch it.  This movie actually looks like it could be pretty awesome. One of my favorite aspects about the story is the fact that it's set in the catacombs that reside underneath the city of Paris. That is just a terrifying setting. Here's the synopsis:

Miles of twisting catacombs lie beneath the streets of Paris, the eternal home to countless souls. When a team of explorers ventures into the uncharted maze of bones, they uncover the secret of what this city of the dead was meant to contain. A journey into madness and terror, As Above, So Below reaches deep into the human psyche to reveal the personal demons that come back to haunt us all.

The movie is set to be released on August 15th!

FOX has released the first trailer and a set of images from their upcoming LEGO inspired episode of The Simpsons. It's called "Brick Like Me," and judging by what I've seen here it looks like it's going to be great! Here's a short little plot breakdown:

Homer wakes up in a world where his family and everyone in Springfield are made of Legos. Can he 'put together' how he got there, and figure out how to get home before he's stuck in a world of bricks forever?

LEGOs are more popular now than ever thanks to The LEGO Movie! This little LEGO gimmick for The Simpsons is sure to pay off for the network. I'm definitely looking forward to watching it. The episode is set to premiere on May 4th at 8pm.

WARCRAFT - First Photo from the Set

Moon director Duncan Jones is deep into production on his epic big screen adaptation of Warcraft. Jones is the guy in the photo above, and as you can see he's watching a couple of his actors on the monitors while they shoot a scene.

I don't play World of Warcraft, I just don't have the time to get sucked into that fantasy world. But, I am extremely excited for this movie! I loved the test footage that was screened at San Diego Comic-Con, and I trust that Jones is going give us something amazing. When talking about the his reaction he read the script for the first time Jones said, "It's about both sides. It's going to be red and blue." He then explains that he wants the movie's audience to "feel for the Orc heroes as much as they do the Human ones." It will be interesting to see what kind of story he tells with this.

Warcraft stars Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Toby Kebbell, Rob Kazinsky, Dominic Cooper, Daniel Wu, Clancy Brown. The film is set to open up on March 11th, 2016.

WATCH DOGS Movie Will be Scripted by ZOMBIELAND Writers

Sony Pictures is moving forward with their big screen adaptation of Ubisofts upcoming video game Watch Dogs. The studio has hired Zombieland scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese to help in the process of bringing the game to life on the big screen.

The story focuses on a character named Aiden Pearce, "a hacker who turns the city of Chicago into his personal stomping grounds to carry out his own brand of justice after a violent family tragedy. He is certainly adept physically, but his true gift is his ability to tap into a citywide computer system and control everything from traffic lights to accessing intel that allows him to engage the bad guys, and thwart attempts to kill innocents."

The video game looks pretty freakin' cool, and it has the potential to be an amazing film. Wernick and Reese are both talented writers, so I think the script is in good hands. For those of you who aren't familiar with the game, I've included one of the trailers for you to watch below.

Wernick and Rheese are currently developing a film called Epsilon for Sony, and Greg Berlanti to direct. They've also wrote that amazing Deadpool script that FOX will never turn into a movie.

EVOLVE - New Trailer Shows the Conflict from Both Sides

Evolve_header1.jpg

When you watch the first part of this trailer, from Goliath’s perspective, you get a sense of the raw power he possesses, and the constant cat and mouse game that is played throughout a match. After viewing Goliath’s point of view initially, it was easy to forget how tense a match can be when playing as one of the various soldiers tasked with taking him down. In the interactive trailer you can switch between all 4 of the various classes to get a taste of what a match feels like, but just watch the poor trapper’s cam to see just how quickly a hunter can become prey in the world of Evolve.

Within 2 seconds the monster pounces, pummeling him to near death. That kind of intensity seems to permeate the entire match, and is one of the many reasons that Evolve is one of my most anticipated multiplayer games of the season. You can catch some additional screens below from Turtle Rock Studio’s upcoming title, and make sure to watch the entire trailer when you get a chance. It’s great stuff, and the commentary seals the deal.

This Demon Hunter cosplay from the game Diablo III is really impressive. The aptly named Tasha Cosplay really shows off some skillful armor making. Every time I look at each photo I see a new layer or detail that is crafted to perfection. The lighting in the photography really helps presents the sculptural quality of the armor. Tasha's modeling and the use of location make it feel like you are looking at a scene from a live-action movie.

Now that they are making a Warcraft movie I wonder how long it will be until we see a Diablo movie.

Doug Liman to Direct Sci-Fi Thriller RAILHEAD

Art from Gods of Art

Warner Bros. has picked up the rights to an upcoming sci-fi children's book by Philip Reeve's called Railhead. The studio is also in negotiations with Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman to develop the project.

This may be a story that was written for ten and eleven year olds, but it sounds really cool. According to THR, "it's set in a futuristic world where trains run through space via portals. The main character is a petty thief hired to steal an object that happens to be more important than he was led to believe, setting off an adventure that could change the course of the galaxy. The report goes on to say that the story also has a variety of very colorful characters.

The authors previous books, Mortal Engines and Larklight, show that he has a very heavy interest in the steampunk and sci-fi genres. It sounds like we will see some of those elements in his latest creation with his inclusion of trains, and traveling around the galaxy through portals.

Some of the other films that Liman has made over the years include Swingers, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Go, jumper and The Bourne Identity. For the most part I like what he's done, and this sounds like it would be a fun film project for him to take on.

The image above has nothing to do with the movie, I just thought it was a slick looking steam punk style train that would fit the post.

JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS Movie - Promo Poster and Cast Announced

Damn! Director Jon M Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) sure moved lighting fast on that Jem and the Holograms movie that he announced about a month ago. Today we have the official casting of the film, and a teaser poster to share with you. The cast for the film includes Nashville actress Aubrey Peeples as the lead character Jem; Disney's A.N.T. Farm's Stefanie Scott as Jem's sister, Kimber; Pretty Little Liars actress Aurora Perrineau will play Shana; and The FostersHayley Kiyoko will take on the role of Aja.

The movie is based on the 1980s animated series, and the story "centers on an orphaned teenage girl who becomes an online recording sensation. She and her sisters embark on a music-driven scavenger hunt -- one that sends them on an adventure across Los Angeles in an attempt to unlock a final message left by her father."

I'm surprised to see that there's a lot of excitement surrounding the film. I didn't realize there was a massive amount of Jem fans out there. I was an animated show junkie when I was a kid. I watched almost everything, but Jem and the Holograms was not one of them.

I imagine we'll get a casting announcement and teaser poster for Jem's rivals The Misfits in the near future.

Master Series Princess Zelda Statue by First 4 Figures

Being a princess isn't all that it's cracked up to be, and odds are Zelda would agree with me. Hardly ever does she actually get to relax, what with every time she turns around her kingdom seems to be either on the brink of collapse, being invaded, or consumed by some great evil or some such. It's a bit of a rough life is all I'm saying.

Twilight Princess is one of the more popular entries in the series, which is most likely why First 4 Figures, makers of the gorgeous statue you see above, have kept the Twilight Princess line going with this 5th entry. This rendition of Zelda features some beautiful facial features, and kudo's should be given for the pose as well. It's all at once regal yet threatening, and I love that they included her sword. Just because she's a princess does not make her any less dangerous, and I think that's reflected well here. The royal stunner is about 17 inches tall and is one of only 2,500 being made. You can pre-order yours from their site for the paltry sum of $349.

Okay, so there's nothing paltry about that sum, but fear not readers, for you can also break those up into 3 payments using their Flexipay option. If you're like me in any way, those kinds of plans are the only way you can afford some of these awesome items, so I always make sure to point them out if available.  If you're a fan of Twilight Princess, make sure to check out some of their other entries in the line.

Brad Bird Fighting for THE IRON GIANT Blu-Ray Release

Since Brad Bird directed The Iron Giant, he's gone on to direct some awesome films in his career such as The Incredibles, Ratatouille and Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol. Out of all of those movies though, The Iron Giant is my favorite, in fact it's my number one favorite animated flick ever. I know many of you are fans of the movie as well, and it's a shame that it still hasn't been released on Blu-ray.

Even though the film is a classic, and one of the greatest animated film of all time, Warner Bros. screwed it over by not marketing it. It's an incredibly sad story, because this thing should have been a huge hit. The WB continues to screw it over by not releasing it on Blu-ray.

Bird was recently asked on Twitter when it might be released, and this was his reply:

"WB & I have been talking. But they want a bare bones disc. I want better."

That's kind of ridiculous that the studio doesn't want to put any kind of effort to give us an ultimate version of the film, with lots of cool extras and special features that the fans can watch. @TheTrekNerd made a very truthful comment saying:

"Us consumers want better too. It's a classic, not fodder for the $1.99 bin at the grocery store."

I couldn't agree more. It's just crazy how poorly this movie has been treated over the years. Bird then responded with, "Let them know; @WBHomeEnt" So let them know everybody! Let's try and help The Iron Giant get the epic Blu-ray release it deserves!

Marvel Movie News - AGE OF ULTRON and ANT-MAN

marvel-movie-news-age-of-ultron-and-ant-man

There's been some Marvel movie talk going on recently. Director Joss Whedon is out there talking about Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Marvel studios president Kevin Fiege is talking about Ant-Man

In an interview with Empire Magazine Whedon talks about the main villain in Age of Ultron saying that he's "having a blast" with him. He goes on to discuss the movie, throwing all of these different superhero characters together, and Ultron.

"I fiercely dislike the idea of just throwing in more people for the sake of doing that, but last time I had all of Earth's Mightiest Heroes versus one British character actor, and I needed more conflict. I'm having a blast with Ultron. He's not a creature of logic - he's a robot who's genuinely disturbed. We're finding out what makes him menacing and at the same time endearing and funny and strange and unexpected, and everything a robot never is."

The director is currently shooting the film in the United Kingdom, and he discusses the location, and how it's being utilized for the film.

"The number of different looks and textures and moods we're getting from the British locations is stupid awesome. Because this, palette-wise, is very different. I'm trying to make a different film. Because why would you make one movie twice? That seems weird."

I just love that he used the phrase "stupid awesome."

In a seperate interview with the same magazine, Feige went on to talk about Ant-Man and how the development of that movie changed the direction they were taking The Avengers.

"We changed, frankly, some of the MCU to accommodate this version of Ant-Man. Knowing what we wanted to do with Edgar and with Ant-Man, going years and years back, helped to dictate what we did with the roster for Avengers the first time. It was a bit of both in terms of his idea for the Ant-Man story influencing the birth of the MCU in the early films leading up to Avengers."

I love how they are thinking about all that interconnection stuff while they are developing their films. The fact that they are putting in the effort to make the continuity flow should make fans happy. They could easily take the lazy way out and not deal with it like all the other studios with superhero franchises. He then talks about what we can expect to see in the Ant-Man movie.

"It was two things – a story Edgar wanted to tell that we’ll see with Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd, and now we’re 11 films in, it’s looking at the characters we’ve already introduced who already have the technology and the brains to do…certain things [Laughs].

Look at that origin of the petty crook who comes into contact with a suit and does his best to make good, and then look at someone like Paul Rudd, who can do slightly unsavoury things like break into people’s houses and still be charming and who you root for and whose redemption you will find satisfaction in."

Sounds like we all have a lot of great Marvel stuff to look forward too. Everyone making the movies seem to be having fun. Ant-Man will be released on July 17th, 2015 and Avengers: Age of Ultron will be released May 1st, 2015.

BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN - Cyborg will be played by Ray Fisher

batman-vs-superman-cyborg-will-be-played-by-ray-fisher

The DC Comics character Cyborg is going to be in Batman Vs. Superman, and according to Variety Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder have cast Ray Fisher in the role. The reason you don't recognize the name is because he's mostly known for his theater roles including the Broadway play Fetch Clay, Make Man in which he played Muhammad Ali.

According to the report Cyborg, whose real name is Victor Stone, will have "a much more significant role as Warner and D.C. develop more films related to the Justice League universe, sources confirm." The actor will join Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot and Jesse Eisenberg in the movie. There's been some talk already hinting that Cyborg could be in the sequel. In a previous interview with Cavill he expressed his excitement in seeing the character introduced in the franchise.

"On the extras on the Blu-ray, we're going to get the opportunity to see Zack's references to other aspects of the DC Universe. There's one obvious one which is now particularly obvious because of our next installment, which is involving Batman as well. We see Bruce Wayne Enterprises on the satellite in space. We also see some references to LexCorp. I actually have no further knowledge of this next story, but there's a good chance Lex is going to be introduced soon or at some stage.  What really intrigued me was Dr. Emil Hamilton's connection to S.T.A.R. Labs. Cyborg I think would make a wonderful character and an incredible bridge between both superhumans and humanity in a different way toBatman.  So I don't know where he's going to come in or if he's going to come in, but that's one I'm particularly excited about. Other references I'm not too sure on, but we'll see where those lead. Those with keen eyes will see them."

Congrats to Fisher for landing a role in a huge movie that could possibly change his life. Since the guy was cast in the role, he obviously has the talent to pull it off. I've included a photo of him below.

Batman Vs. Superman is set to be released on May 6th, 2016.

Official Crazy Synopsis Revealed for GOOSEBUMPS Movie

tumblr_mccoctXQnM1qbaamvo1_1280.jpg

When the Goosbumps movie was first announced I wondered how exactly they would adapt the kids horror book series. There are just so many crazy stories that R.L. Stine dreamt up over the years, so there's a ton of material to work with. Now that the project has moved into production the studio has released an official synopsis that gives us a solid idea of what's in store for us. It's a very meta storyline that follows a writer named R.L. Stine who has created a series called Goosebumps, and his monstrous creations are alive. This sounds like it could make for a really fun movie that will make fans of the book series happy.

In Goosebumps, upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series. It turns out that there is a reason why Stine is so strange… he is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town, it’s suddenly up to Stine, Zach, and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong.

The movie also co-stars Amy Ryan, who will play Zach’s skeptical mother, Jillian Bell will play his crazy aunt, Ken Marino the local high school football coach and Ryan Lee (Super 8) was also recently cast in the movie.

Goosebumps will open in theaters on March 23rd, 2016. Do you like the direction they are taking the film?
