Dear The Walking Dead, Kill Shane Already

$

Dear writers for The Walking Dead,

I'm so beyond the episode to episode shenanigans of Shane it's not even funny. His constant ramblings and erratic behavior are reaching past the bounds for believability for me as an avid watcher of the show. His traits as a character are often times in contradiction with themselves, which at this point makes him feel like a plot device to progress the story more than a living breathing character.

How can I believe the man who shoots another in the leg for survival, screams at the wife of his friend that he loves her and knows she does too, then tries to kill his best friend is the same man who tries to mentor the young Carl on a regular basis? Or how can you go from a shamed docile lamb after the man you tried to kill saves your life, only for me to watch the episode preview and hear his ass talking about taking control for the umpteenth time?! Either make him bat-shit crazy or drop the story line!

There's so many better ways to deal with this than the same rinse and repeat drama on a critically acclaimed series. Rick could've had a lapse in character and decided to leave him behind. Totally believable considering he banged his wife, and only moments ago tried to kill him for being "weak". Shane is a tough guy, I'm sure he would've escaped and likely would've went back to the farm for a decisive showdown. This would've led to the rightful deaths of many now static characters, or possibly just the destruction of that damn farm so they can actually ship up and go somewhere else for a change.

I get it. Rick is a good guy. Seriously though, as of late he's come off as more of a thrill seeking dumb ass than a hero with some of his latest endeavors into the city. Why you would bring Shane 18 miles out to discuss something controversial while he has a shotgun is beyond me...but it didn't go down the way I would've come to expect as an viewer, and it disappoints me.

All of the problems I have right now end with Shane. If Shane dies, Andrea will surely be soon to follow, and then the drama can go back to being fear of destruction by zombies and not whiny psychopaths who are only hostile when the story needs them to be.

RIDDICK - 2 New Cool Photos from the Set

Vin Diesel has posted two more great set photos from his new Riddick film for his fans. I love everything that I've seen from this film so far, and I'm excited to eventually see a trailer.

The movie was written and directed by David Twohy, and also stars Karl Urban, Jordi Molla, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Bokeem Woodbine, Dave Bautista, Conrad Pla, Raoul Trujillo, Nolan Funk, and Keri Hilson. Here's a nice little note from the actor that came along with the photos,

Despite the fact, that this by far is the most physical of roles that I have played… I decided to show a picture you might never see… a candid, of me in between a lighting set up, just reflecting…

It has been sometime now since I have ventured to that place, where the Furyan dwells… It is strange how learning about myself always coincides with playing the character, which has never been more true than in this experience… but, I will explain that some other day when I am beyond this journey.

It was early yesterday morning when our production week ended, the Director and handful from the crew were recapping/celebrating the weeks accomplishments, when someone asked why I had to make this film. The Director who has known me for almost 15 years said quickly… "with Vin, it is all about the promise, if he says he will make it, it doesn't matter how long it takes, he will."

It's awsome to see what kind of man Diesel is and to get a look at his personality. He seems like a great guy that cares for his projects, the people around him and his fans. What do you think of the new photos?

Here is the synopsis:

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won't leave the planet without Riddick's head as their trophy.

Brad Pitt, James Franco, and Jonah Hill Team Up for TRUE STORY

$

Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill must have enjoyed working with each other on Moneyball because they are teaming up again for a new movie called True Story, which will also star James Franco. The film is based on a memoir by journalist Michael Finkel, and it's being directed by Rupert Goold

According to Deadline, Hill will play Finkel, "who was a writer at The New York Times Magazine in 2002 when he learned that Christian Longo was captured in Mexico after a long stint on the FBI Ten Most Wanted List for killing his family. The strange part was that he had been living under the identity of Finkel. The very next day, the real Finkel was fired by the editors of The New York Times, right after they ran an editor’s note declaring that he had falsified parts of an investigative article. His career seemed over, until Longo (who’ll be played by Franco) declared that the real Finkel was the only journalist he would talk to. That led to a surreal relationship with the accused murderer who was trying to declare his innocence. For the real Finkel, it was an opportunity to unravel the mystery and perhaps redeem himself as a journalist."

This sounds like an incredibly interesting story and should no doubt make for a great film. Especially with the cast that has been brought together to bring it to life. What do you think about this true story being adapted for the big screen?

Here's the official description of the book:

In the haunting tradition of Joe McGinniss's Fatal Vision and Mikal Gilmore's Shot in the Heart, True Story: Murder, Memoir, Mea Culpa weaves a spellbinding tale of murder, love, and deceit with a deeply personal inquiry into the slippery nature of truth.

The story begins in February of 2002, when a reporter in Oregon contacts New York Times Magazine writer Michael Finkel with a startling piece of news. A young, highly intelligent man named Christian Longo, on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list for killing his entire family, has recently been captured in Mexico, where he'd taken on a new identity—Michael Finkel of the New York Times.

The next day, on page A-3 of the Times, comes another bit of troubling news: a note, written by the paper's editors, explaining that Finkel has falsified parts of an investigative article and has been fired. This unlikely confluence sets the stage for a bizarre and intense relationship. After Longo's arrest, the only journalist the accused murderer will speak with is the real Michael Finkel. And as the months until Longo's trial tick away, the two men talk for dozens of hours on the telephone, meet in the jailhouse visiting room, and exchange nearly a thousand pages of handwritten letters.

With Longo insisting he can prove his innocence, Finkel strives to uncover what really happened to Longo's family, and his quest becomes less a reporting job than a psychological cat-and-mouse game—sometimes redemptively honest, other times slyly manipulative. Finkel's pursuit pays off only at the end, when Longo, after a lifetime of deception, finally says what he wouldn't even admit in court—the whole, true story. Or so it seems.

Yet Another DRACULA Movie To Be Made

Sony Pictures has just acquired the right to another Dracula film, which will once again tell the mythological origin of the famous bloodsucker. The pitch for the film came from screenwriter Jason Keller (Machine Gun Preacher, Mirror Mirror, The Tomb), and it will be produced by Joe Roth and Palak Patel. Can you believe Keller got paid a high six figures for this rehashed pitch!? It's Dracula for cryin' out loud! Why are studios paying this kind of money for something that has been made a thousand times before!? There's no information on what will make this story so different other than the fact that the studio is looking to launch a period franchise, which tells me they are looking to maybe give it an action-packed makeover. Right now I'm thinking Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes, but with Dracula. I guess we won't know until we know.

As of right now, there are a few new Dracula vampire movies being made, such as Dracula Year Zero coming from director Gary ShoreGuillermo Del Toro's The Strain Trilogy will get an adaptation, and then of course, there's Matt Reeve's The Passage

Are you a fan of The Count? What is your favorite Dracula film, and what future films dealing with vampires are you looking forward to most?

AMC has released this new poster for the highly anticipated return of Mad Men for its fifth season. It only took about a year and a half to get here. The show is set to return with a 2-hour premiere on Sunday March 25th, at 9pm ET/PT.

The new poster shows Jon Hamm as Don Draper looking at his reflection in a store front window. In case you missed them, click here to see all of the character promo trailers that have been released. I can't wait to see where the story and these character go from where we last saw them!

Synopsis:

Set in 1960s New York, the sexy, stylized and provocative AMC drama Mad Men follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell.

The series revolves around the conflicted world of Don Draper (Hamm), the biggest ad man (and ladies man) in the business, and his colleagues at the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce Advertising Agency. As Don makes the plays in the boardroom and the bedroom, he struggles to stay a step ahead of the rapidly changing times and the young executives nipping at his heels. The series also depicts authentically the roles of men and women in this era while exploring the true human nature beneath the guise of 1960s traditional family values.

WRATH OF THE TITANS - 8 Hi-Res Stills Released

Here are eight new stills from Wrath of the Titans, thanks to our friends at CBM. The photos show off Perseus (Sam Worthington), Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), a gigantic troll hand, and a monster. The shots below do not show much that is new for the film, but they are in hi-res.

Synopsis:

“A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus – the demigod son of Zeus – is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld. Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus’ godly son, Ares, switch loyalties and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans’ strength grows stronger as Zeus’ remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda, Poseidon’s demigod son, Argenor, and fallen god Hephaestus, Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.”

Wrath of the Titans is directed by Jonathan Liebsman and stars Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Rosamund Pike, Ralph Fiennes, and more. It arrives in theaters on March 30 in both 3D and IMAX 3D.

I am not too excited for this movie. Do you think that Wrath will be better than Clash of the Titans?

THE LONE RANGER - Video Shows Silver In Action - SPOILERS

$

0

Here is our first look at The Lone Ranger's horse Silver in action, thanks to CBM. The video shows stunts that will be used in the film, so beware.

Here is some background on Silver:

The Lone Ranger saves Silver's life from an enraged buffalo and, in gratitude, Silver chooses to give up his wild life to carry him.

In another episode, however, the Lone Ranger, in a surge of conscience, releases Silver back to the wild. The episode ends with Silver returning, bringing along a companion who becomes Tonto's horse, Scout.

Whenever the Lone Ranger mounts Silver, he shouts, "Hi-yo, Silver! Away!" Besides sounding dramatic, this shout originally served to tell the radio audience that a riding sequence was about to start. In an echo of the Lone Ranger's line, Tonto frequently says, "Git-um up, Scout!" - Wikipedia

The horses being used for Gore Verbinski's big-budget feature are being trained by legendary horse trainer Rex Peterson. Filming for The Lone Ranger is slated to to start this week.

The Lone Ranger stars Armie Hammer as The Lone Ranger and Johnny Depp as Tonto. The supporting cast includes Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, and Timothy Hutton. It is set to be released in theaters May 31, 2013.

I think it is cool to see the horses being trained, but I still do not like the idea of this movie costing so much. What are your thoughts on The Lone Ranger?

Beware of SPOILERS:

Rex believes in preparing horses for any stunt or sequence required on film or in commercials. You can see some of his techniques training specialty horses to work on films like The Lone Ranger. Five white horses are trained to play Silver, each one focusing on their unique qualities, and at least three trained to perform every stunt for safety. Batman's GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT Game That Never Was - Video

Imagine a story set one hundred years ago in a European Gotham City, where Batman has to battle Jack the Ripper. Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola (the creator of Hellboy) came up with this video game concept in 1989 and titled it Gotham by Gaslight.

The concept was part of DC Comics' Elseworlds brand, which was designed to highlight their supereheroes in stories set in alternate realities. Thanks to Siliconera (via SuperheroHype), we have a video of the game pitch that never went into development. The video below is from Day 1 Studios' (F.3.A.R.), and gives us a peek at what a Victorian era Gotham could have been.

I think that this is a game I would love to play. I like the idea of taking on the Ripper. What are your thoughts?Would you play Gotham by Gaslight?

Pixar's BRAVE Gets Its First TV Spot

Disney has released the first TV spot for Pixar's Scottish fairy tale adventure, Brave. This is a great spot that opens up with a beautiful Scottish tune. I'm looking forward to seeing how this movie, and the setting has a fantastically beautiful and magical feel that audiences are sure to love.

The film stars the voices of Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson, Robbie Coltrane, and Julie Walters.

Here's the synopsis:

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In "Brave," a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida's actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it's too late.

The film hits theaters on June 22nd, 2012. Enjoy the TV spot below!

Terry Gilliam's THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE Supposedly Still Happening

Love him or hate him, Terry Gilliam certainly adds a unique voice to the cinematic landscape. The director of Brazil, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Twelve Monkeys, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Gilliam has a career that spans decades; as such, it's only natural that a few projects would slip through the cracks.

One of the best documented of these elusive films-to-be is The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, a whimsical story that has had multiple incarnations throughout the years. The film's rise and fall is wonderfully captured in a great documentary called Lost in La Mancha, which I'd highly recommend seeking out if you haven't seen it and are at all interested in the way movies come together (and crumble apart, in this case) behind the scenes. But that attempt was years ago, and according to the film's co-writer Toni Grisoni, it's back on track with a new life and a fresh vision.

Money Into Light (via The Playlist) recently spoke with Grisoni, who offered an update on The Man Who Killed Don Quixote:

Us survivors of 'Don Q' are a strange kind of dysfunctional family. Every year since we have rewritten the screenplay. And we've got quite good at it. You will be pleased to hear the Don is back up and in the saddle and ready to ride under new colours.

There's also a new logo for the movie, commissioned by Gilliam himself. (Photo via TheFilmStage.)

The most recent version of the film is set to star Robert Duvall, and Ewan McGregor just dropped out. No word on the final casting yet, but I'd really like to see Gilliam's vision hit theaters one day, even if it's not the way he originally intended. But what do you think? Should he remain persistent with this project, or give it up and move on to something else?

2 Great Wes Anderson-Directed Hyundai Commercials

$

Wes Anderson is one of my favorite directors. I love his quirky and strange storytelling-style. Every film he has made is rare in the fact that I enjoy them even more after every time I watch them. I always seem to find something new and different. Even these simple 30-second Hyundai commercials Anderson directed are awesomely entertaining. Watch the commercials below, and tell us what your favorite Anderson movie is, if you have one.

Here are the commercials with a little description for each one from Ad Week:

Modern Life shows a mother delaying re-entry into the insanity of her home by relaxing in her luxurious Hyundai, is a bit less telltale Anderson but still uses enough of the auteur's signature camera movements, '70s-tinged art direction, and painstakingly controlled chaos to place it a step above your average car ad. While Anderson's Oscar-watching fans will see the spots as a clear wink to film buffs, they're not so esoteric that they won't hold up for months after the final award is handed out.

In Talk to My Car, the nostalgia-happy Anderson hypes the 2012 Azera's "bluelink" technology via a pastiche of pop culture's most famous voice-responsive vehicles (there's a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang-esque flying contraption, an underwater car straight out of The Spy Who Loved Me, and a take on Knight Rider's KITT) plus a heavy bit of personal touch (there's enough corny visual effects and obsessive symmetry to make your head explode). Bluelink doesn't actually allow your car to shoot through space, but it does let you make a dinner reservation by simply asking.

Is Guy Pearce's Role in PROMETHEUS Connected with ALIEN?

$
0
0

The Prometheus rumor train just rolled in, and it sounds like the character Guy Pearce plays in the film might just be connected to Ridley Scott's Alien. Before we continue you need to know that none of this has been confirmed, but if it's true it could be considered a spoiler

We already know from the trailer that Prometheus is in fact connected with Alien--the image of the space jockey is clear as day. But it's just been revealed that there could be another connection between the two.

Apparently Mozinezo.hu had a chance to talk to Scott about the movie and here's what they claim he said about Pearce's role in the story,

When the first ‘Alien’ movie and ‘Blade Runner’ were made, I thought that in the near future the world will be owned by large companies. This is why we have the Tyrell Corporation in ‘Blade Runner’, and Weyland-Yutani in ‘Alien’. They sent the Nostromo spaceship.

The Prometheus is owned by an entrepreneur called Peter Weyland, and is played by Guy Pearce. That’s the connection between the two films, and nothing more. Prometheus is a new film, a new world, and is full of new ideas. And of course new monsters as well.

So if this bit of information is true that would be awesome and a very cool connection between the two films. I would like it to be true, but I guess we won't really know until we actually see the movie. Prometheus is sure to a crazy huge hit among us fans. What are you most excited for about Prometheus?

BLIND SIDE'S John Lee Hancock In Talks For Disney's SAVING MR. BANKS

$

John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) may have found his next directing gig. Deadline reports that he is in talks with Disney to direct Saving Mr. Banks. Kelly Marcel wrote the script that tells the story "of how Walt Disney waged a 14-year courtship to persuade Australian author P.L. Travers to sell him rights to make a film out of Mary Poppins."

Disney is expected to acquire the Black List script, which is in place at Alison Owen of Ruby Films. This project seems like a perfect fit for Disney. The idea is to get A-list actors Tom Hanks to play Disney and Meryl Streep with production starting this year.

The film will follow how close "Travers felt to her story of a nanny with magical powers. Mary Poppins was highly personal, and reflected hardships in her own life and her relationship with her father, who died when she was 7. Disney finally persuaded her to let him make the film, but she was prickly all the way to the end. While Mary Poppins was lauded immediately, she hated the animated sequences in the film so much that she refused to sell any of her other works to Disney."

If Hanks and Streep are attached to star, I would love to see this film. Hanks is a great choice for the role of Walt Disney. Do you think that Hancock is a good choice to direct this film?
