THE WALKING DEAD Has Found Its Governor in David Morrissey

If you thought that the Walkers were evil, think again. AMC will be bringing The Governor to life in Season 3 of The Walking Dead. THR reports that David Morrissey has been cast to play the role in the show based on Robert Kirkman's comics. In the comics "Rick and his group encounter the character when they encounter a new settlement of survivors in Woodbury. While Rick is a kind and fair leader, the Governor is anything but."

Here is a description of the character for those of you not familiar:

The casting of the legendary character -- also known as Phillip -- is a long awaited one for fans of the comics, which will release its 94th issue next week. The character's sadistic methods of leadership are counter-balanced with a personal struggle involving his daughter.

There was speculation that Daryl's (Norman Reedus) missing brother, Merle (Michael Rooker), would become the character. Kirkman recently revealed that this is not the case.
The Governor character will be introduced at some point and it will probably be an original character that hasn't appeared in the show up to that point.
There has currently been speculation that Jon Bernthal's Shane may be written out of the drama, since the actor is eyeing Frank Darabont's TNT drama pilot, LA Noir.

Morrissey will be a series regular next season, which will expand to 16 episodes. He is a BAFTA Award nominee who has starred in several British series, including Meadowlands, State of Play, and The Deal. The actor also starred in The Other Boleyn Girl.

I am addicted to The Walking Dead and welcome more twists and turns as long as the action pacing continues to stay intense. The first part of season two seemed to slow down a bit. I am very excited to see the rest of season two and season three.

What do you think about Morrissey being cast in the role? Are you enjoying this season of The Walking Dead?

THE RAVEN - First TV Spot

Relativity Media has released the first 30-second TV spot for the Edgar Allen Poe-inspired mystery thriller The Raven, which comes from director James McTiegue (V For Vendetta). The film stars John Cusack as Edgar Allen Poe alongside Luke Evans, Alice Eve, Brendan Gleeson, and Oliver Jackson-CohenI'm excited about this movie. I think it will be fun to Cusack in an intense and fun role like this.

Synopsis:

In this gritty thriller, Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack, Being John Malkovich) joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans, Immortals) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders. Directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin), the film also stars Alice Eve (Sex and the City 2), Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster). When a mother and daughter are found brutally murdered in 19th century Baltimore, Detective Emmett Fields (Luke Evans) makes a startling discovery: the crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory detail in the local newspaper–part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer and social pariah Edgar Allan Poe. But even as Poe is questioned by police, another grisly murder occurs, also inspired by a popular Poe story. Realizing a serial killer is on the loose using Poe’s writings as the backdrop for his bloody rampage, Fields enlists the author’s help in stopping the attacks. But when it appears someone close to Poe may become the murderer’s next victim, the stakes become even higher and the inventor of the detective story calls on his own powers of deduction to try to solve the case before it’s too late.

The Raven hits theaters on March 9th, 2012. What's your favorite John Cusack movie to date?

Season four of Star Wars: The Clone Wars is set to return with a two-part mid-season premiere starting with "Brothers" on Friday, March 9th at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) followed by "Revenge" on March 16th on Cartoon Network. A great, intense new trailer has been released featuring the return of Darth Maul, brought back from the dead to kick some Jedi ass.

If you haven't been watching this Clone Wars series I have to ask... why? The show has been awesome and better than any of the prequel movies that Lucas made. I enjoy watching it, and I'm excited to see Darth Maul back in action.

After being used as a weapon of vengeance by Count Dooku and Asajj Ventress, the dark warrior Savage Opress embarked on a galaxy-spanning quest to find his long-lost brother, the legendary Darth Maul. Maul lives in the depths of a ruined world as a shattered madman barely held together by dreams of vengeance. Savage conspires with the scheming witch Mother Talzin to heal Darth Maul's body and mind, so that the brothers can begin a new crusade of vengeance against the Jedi.

This trailer shows some great action sequences, and Maul is as menacing as ever. Season 4 has been building up to one hell of a climax. Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think about the return of Darth Maul!

THE MOTH DIARIES Trailer - From the Director of AMERICAN PSYCHO

Here's the first trailer to a new gothic horror thriller called The Moth Diaries from American Psycho director Mary Harron. The movie is based on the 2001 novel written by Rachel Klein and the story takes place in a boarding school and follows Rebecca (Sarah Bolger) and Lucy (Sarah Gadon) whose friendship takes a turn for the worse with the arrival of a new girl named Ernessa (Lily Cole). Ernessa is a threat, but we aren't sure what kind of threat she is. The trailer hints at the fact that she could be a vampire.

Here's the Synopsis:

Adolescence is and always will be a time of intense emotional confusion, especially if you spend it in a closed environment. That’s the case with Rebecca, a young girl haunted by her father’s suicide, who is a student at an exclusive female boarding school. She pours her heart out in a diary, much of it focused on Lucy, her beloved roommate. Their relationship changes drastically with the arrival of a mysterious new student, Ernessa. As Lucy abandons her for this new girl, Rebecca becomes consumed with thoughts of jealousy and suspicion — Ernessa is dangerous, evil, a vampire. Is there any truth to all this or is Rebecca slipping into insanity?

The movie will be released on April 20th, 2012. Watch the trailer, and let us know if this is a film you would be interested in seeing.

Yesterday we shared the first two set photos from J.J. Abrams' Star Trek sequel, which is currently filming. Today we have two new photos that show more of the action, thanks to Comingsoon (via Yahoo). One image that shows Benedict Cumberbatch choking Zachary Quinto (Spock). We also have another picture of Zoe Saldana (Uhura) shooting her phaser at Cumberbatch.

Do you think this confirms that Cumberbatch is playing the villain?

STAR TREK Sequel To Be Filmed Partially in IMAX

2009's Star Trek became the first film in the franchise to be shown in IMAX (though plans had been made in the late '90s to make a Star Trek IMAX film set in the "Next Generation" era). The film even led to a controversy involving IMAX and comedian Aziz Ansari. Director J.J. Abrams went on to produce Brad Bird's live-action directorial debut Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol which featured sequences filmed in IMAX. When asked if he himself would film sequences in IMAX, Abrams answered, "I would love to do it. IMAX is my favorite format; I’m a huge fan." One of yesterday's set photos revealed that the Star Trek sequel will be filmed at least partially in IMAX, as an IMAX camera was spotted on set.

So far there has been no official announcement from either Paramount or IMAX that this newest Star Trek film will be featured in IMAX, but now that this discovery has been made, a press release will most likely be issued very soon (hopefully with the film's final title included). Are you ready to see the Final Frontier in IMAX?

Images keep rolling in from the set of J.J. AbramsStar Trek 2. These images were taken on the same "Space Barge" set, but are slightly different. These images show the stunt doubles and the actors (Benedict Cumberbatch, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana) listening to Abrams talk about the scene. There is also two new action shots. Check them out below and share your thoughts:

Star Trek 2 is set for release on May 17, 2013. It also stars Chris Pine, Peter Weller, Noel Clarke and Alice Eve.

I think these stunt doubles look pretty similar. If you were an actor what types of stunts would you not want to perform yourself?

Top 10 Favorite Best Picture Oscar Winning Movies

$

As you know tomorrow is the 84th Annual Academy Awards, and there's a decent list of films have been nominated for several different awards, but the mother of all awards is the coveted Best Picture. So as of right now we have 83 movies that have taken home the top prize. I made it a goal earlier in life to see everyone of them and I am happy to tell you that I have.

I thought is would be an appropriate time to share with you my top 10 favorite Academy Award winning Best Picture films so far. This was seriously a very hard list to compile because I love so many of them, but here we go.

Look over my list and let me know what some of you favorite Best Picture movies are. If you haven't seen of these yet they are a must watch!

1. Braveheart

This movie holds the record for most times I saw one film in the theaters. I watched this movie 13 times during it's run, and it remains one of my favorite films of all time.

2. The Godfather Parts 1 and 2

Yes, I am including both films as it's part of a single epic mob story. I love that both of these films won. As much as I like bother I have to say Part 2 is my favorite.

3. The Lord of the Rings; The Return of the King

We all know that the award given for this film was an award for the entire trilogy. This had to win as it's one of the best and most epic movies ever made.

4. Unforgiven

As a fan of westerns it was awesome to see Clint Eastwood win for this one, after all he is the ultimate badass cowboy.

5. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

I've always been fascinated with the history of mental health, and I love the inspiring story that this movie told. Jack Nicholson was amazing in it and it's one of my favorite movies ever.

6. The Silence of the Lambs

This truly is one of the most terrifying movies of all time. This is classified as a horror thriller, and is the only horror film ever awarded at the Oscars.

7. The French Connection

This is an intense, relentless, intelligent and incredibly fast-paced action film that is perfectly awesome.

8. The Deer Hunter

This is one hell of a heavy movie, but it's also a film that I enjoy watching. There's so many layers to the story and characters that you can't take it all in in one viewing.

9. Amadeus

This is an incredibly well written that was made on a beautifully grand scale. From the costumes to the setting to the epic music. This movie makes me melt.

10. Forrest Gump

This is just one of those unforgettable films that everyone loved. I have yet to meet someone that doesn't like Forrest Gump. It is just an already great story that is told wonderfully.

And because it's so hard to stick with just 10, here are some honorable mentions:

On the Waterfront

Rebecca

Rocky

West Side Story

Ben Hur

Patton

Schindler's List

The Hurt Locker

The Bridge on the river Kwai

Platoon

Above you'll find another new image from DreamWorks Animations next film Turbo starring Ryan ReynoldsPaul GiamattiSamuel L. JacksonMichael Pena, Luis Guzmán, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, and Snoop Dogg

Turbo follows "an ordinary garden snail (Reynolds) with dreams of racing greatness. His obsession with speed and all things fast has made him an oddity and outsider in the slow and cautious snail community, and a constant embarrassment to his careful older brother. When he is one day imbued with the power of amazing speed, he embarks on a quest that will see him racing in the Indianapolis 500."

David Soren (Merry Madagascar, a TV Christmas special) is set to make his feature film directing debut with this movie. Soren will also co-write the script with Robert Siegel (The Wrestler) and Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After). The film is being produced by Lisa Stewart and Susan Rogers.

The movie is set to be released on July 19th, 2013. What are your thoughts on a film that follows the stoy of a racing snail? The last racing snail I saw was in the 1980's film The Neverending Story.

There were a ton of movies that unfortunately got snubbed at the Oscars this year, and in the end the movie I was rooting for, Hugo, didn't even win. Here's a wonderfully beautiful video tribute to all of the movies that got snubbed at the 84th Annual Academy Awards, and I agree with every movie pointed out to us in this video, except for Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Actor in J. Edgar. The video was created by Nick Bosworth from our friends at JoBlo who says,

There were so many amazing films that released in 2011 that really didn't get the recognition they deserved in certain aspects of film-making. And with the Oscars officially kicking off soon, we decided to put together a special tribute dedicated to the critically-acclaimed movies of last year that were unfortunately snubbed in particular categories and the people who were involved.

The films in the list include: Drive, Shame, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, Hanna, Attack The Block, Red State, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Super 8 and many more.

Enjoy the video below, and let us know what movie nominations you agree or disagree in the tribute.
