Spoiler TV

Here are a couple of photos from the set of the fourth season of HBO's Game of Thrones. The scene being shot here is set in Dorne, where we get our very first far-off look at Pedro Pascal as Oberyn "The Red Viper" Martell and Indira Varma as Ellaria Sand.

In the wake of the Red Wedding, how does the North pick up the pieces and with their greatest enemy seemingly crushed, where does that leave the Lannisters. Daenerys Targaryen now has an army but is she ready to take back her homeland. Does Jon Snow turn south to seek revenge or remember his duty along the Wall?

The series comes back in March of 2014.

Cool Fan Art for Disney's GARGOYLES

It would be amazing to see Disney make a feature film adaptation of Gargoyles. Live-action or animated, it's just something I know every fan would love to see happen. Who knows if it will ever happen though. It would be kind of ridiculous if they never did it.

While we hope for a big screen resurrection of Gargoyles, here's a set of really cool character art created by CGHUB artist NME. The characters represented here are Goliath, Lexington, and Hudson. I hope he does more characters!

Tom Cruise Drops Out of THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN Remake

Back in 2012 it was announced that we would be getting a remake of the classic 1960s western The Magnificent Seven. Tom Cruise was attached to the film when it was first announced and MGM hired Nic Pizzolatto (True Detective) to write it at the time.

The Wrap is now reporting that Cruise has dropped out of the project and that Saving Mr. Banks director John Lee Hancock has come on board to rewrite it. Apparently Cruise's schedule just got too busy, so he's out.

Hancock is a great addition to the film though! He did an amazing Job with Saving Mr. Banks, and also directed The Alamo for Disney, so it won't be the first western genre film that he's made. I haven't seen The Alamo in forever though, so I don't even remember if it was good or not. He also directed The Blind Side.

The Magnificent Seven is one of my favorite westerns of all time. It's going to be weird seeing it get remade, but I'm really interested to see who will be cast in the film, and how it turns out.

Benedict Cumberbatch Imagined as The Joker - Fan Art

Here's a fun piece of Batman fan art created by concept artist Alex Tuis (Dark Shadows) that gives us a look at what actor Benedict Cumberbatch might look like as The Joker. Cumberbatch would definitely make for an interesting choice to play the Joker, but even though I think he makes an amazing villain, I don't think this villain would be a good fit.

SHAZAM Movie Put on Hold Indefinitely

Thanks to Man of Steel it doesn't look like we'll be seeing that feature film adaptation of Shazam happening anytime soon! Grudge Match director Peter Segal was developing the project alongside DC Entertainment years ago, and in a recent interview with Comingsoon he said the project has been put on hold indefinitely now that the Superman franchise has been successfully rebooted.

"Shazam has always lived this tortured life going against Superman. This dates back to the 1930s. Because Captain Marvel had similar powers to Superman, the DC folks back then sued what was the most popular comic book on the stands at that time. Years later, they bought it and it became a DC property but, as long as Superman stays hot in the market place, there seems like a little bit of a crossover between the two characters. After Bryan Singer's 'Superman Returns,' it seemed like there was a moment in time where Shazam was going to see the light of day. That's when you heard those stories. Now that Superman is being invigorated and going up against Batman, I think it's difficult for DC to figure out how to launch this character in the wake of Superman's resurgence"

The director went on to explain his take on the superhero character, saying,

"At its core, it's a lot like Superman. There's this boy trapped inside of a superhero's body. He's still a boy inside, so there's this opportunity to play a lot of humor with the action. Originally, Stan Lee brought me Fantastic Four a number of years ago for that very reason. I always have the question when people bring me superhero properties, 'Why me?' With Stan, he said, 'It's because there's a sense of humor within all Marvel characters.' These characters are flawed and, within those flaws, there is humor. When [producer] Toby Emmerichcame to me with Shazam, it was because of those same reasons. To draw from that humor and to mix it with great action and pathos. I've always loved Shazam, but I don't know if it's going to see the light of day anytime soon."

I like Shazam, and it would be great to see him get his day on the big screen. One day maybe it will happen, but it doesn't sound like it's going to be any time soon.

Here's a new Star Wars  infographic I came across that includes 19 bits of trivia about the George Lucas classic that you may or may not know. I've actually seen most of this, but there were a couple things that were new to me, so maybe there will be something here you don't know either. The infographic was created by Ellie Koning, and was found on Tie Fighters.

SpeedDemosArchiveSDA uploads videos of gamers who complete incredibly fast speed runs of games we all know and love. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 was certainly a staple in my childhood, and in addition to making me think I could ride a skateboard, introduced me to a lot of cool music. This game is near and dear to a lot of our hearts, but no one can love this game more than "George." Known only by his uploader name, this guy flawlessly makes his way with ease through the many levels, challenges, and competitions to beat the game in a blistering three minutes and fifty five seconds! The fact that he can end a run thirty seconds in and achieve a higher score than I could in three runs is impressive enough! This guy truly knows the meaning of skate or die.

Spike Jonze's HER - Movie Review

$

spike-jonzes-her-movie-review.jpg

Hollywood always seems to save the best movies for the end-of-the-year! Pretty much every movie that I've seen in the last month has been incredible. The reason they save all the best movies for the end of the year is because the award season is coming up, and the studios want their movies to be fresh on everybody's minds.

The most recent of these film I went to see was director Spike Jonze's Her. And yes, it's another incredible movie that I enjoyed immensely. It's a very unique and different kind of love story. I've never seen anything like this before obviously, and Jonze did a brilliant job bringing this crazy fascinating romance to life.

Jonze has such a unique style to the films he makes. They're quirky, funny, and entertaining, and they've got everything that we love about movies. What sets them apart from the rest is the style and tone. They have this wonderful individuality to them that makes them different from all the other types of movies being made in their respective genres. Like I said, they're just unique, and Her takes the romance film and turns it on its head.

The story takes place in the near future and basically follows a man who ends up in a relationship with an operating system. It's kind of like Siri, but it's a more advanced artificial intelligence. He ends up falling in love with the system, the name of which is Samantha, and we get a very good glimpse of what it's like for a man to have a relationship with an A.I. that has no physical form. Like any relationship it has its ups and downs, but these are quite different and unexpected. It was just really interesting seeing how this relationship plays out. You might think this is crazy, but it's something I could actually see happening in the society we live in. Hell, it probably already is happening somewhere to someone! I enjoyed seeing how the relationship grew, and it was interesting to see how the A.I. evolves through the course of the movie and the problems that it causes in the relationship. Overcoming those problems and challenges are some of the most intriguing parts of the story.

I just want to point out that one of my favorite parts in the movie included the main character's conversations with a holographic video game character that he's playing. I also enjoyed Jonze's vision of the future. It wasn't overboard, there were just these slight changes here and there to make things different. It's what really we might expect the future to look like.

When it comes to the acting Jaoquin Phoenix, Scarlett Johansson, and Amy Adams were all fantastic. The characters they played were all a little quirky, but they were also very likable.

I will say there are parts that kind of just dragged on. I wouldn't go to the movie if I were tired. I'm not saying it's boring, I'm just saying there are parts of it that kind of drag on, and if you're not interested in these kinds of films then you'll probably get a little bored with it. I just noticed that reaction from some of the people in the theater. This is one of those films where you have to invest your attention into it.

The movie isn't for everybody, but there's definitely audience out there like that will really enjoy it. I suggest you go and check it out when you get a chance!

KUNG FURY Trailer Is the Greatest Thing You Will Ever See!

kung-fury-trailer-is-the-greatest-thing-you-will-ever-see.jpg

This trailer for Kung Fury is seriously one of the greatest things you will ever see! The film is currently going through a Kickstarter funding phase, and it's close to reaching its goal. So it looks like this movie is actually going to happen, and I can't wait!

This is so awesomely ridiculous in every way. The movie is described as an "over-the-top action comedy that has it's foundation in 80s cop movies." This is just one of those things that needs to be seen so that you can truly appreciate what this group of filmmakers is doing. It features "arcade-robots, dinosaurs, nazis, vikings, norse gods, mutants and a super kung fu-cop."

During an unfortunate series of events a friend of Kung Fury is assasinated by the most dangerous kung fu master criminal of all time; Adolf Hitler, a.k.a Kung Führer. Kung Fury decides to travel back in time, to Nazi Germany, in order to kill Hitler and end the Nazi empire once and for all. Kung Fury is a visually spectacular action comedy that has it's foundation in 80s cop movies.

The film is being written and directed by David Sandberg, and you can visit the Kickstarter page here. I'm extremely excited about this! Thanks to Kristian for the heads up on this! It made my day.

Empire Magazine has revealed the cover for their February issue, and if features Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Sabastian Stan in Marvel's next big film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This is the Marvel sequel I'm really excited about! Cap has always been a favorite of mine, the first movie was fantastic, and this sequel looks even more badass! Everything I've seen of it so far looks incredibly cool, and I can't wait to see more!

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

The movie is set to be released in theaters on April 4th, 2014!

First Look at Ben Affleck in David Fincher's GONE GIRL

Gone_Girl_1.jpg

David Fincher is one hell of a great director, and I look forward to everything that he does. 20th Century Fox has released the first image from his upcoming film Gone Girl, which as you can see stars Ben Affleck

The movie is an adaptation of a novel written by Gillian Flynn, and it also stars Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit, and Carrie Coon.

Here's an official description of the story:

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick Dunne’s clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick Dunne isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but hearing from Amy through flashbacks in her diary reveal the perky perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer? As the cops close in, every couple in town is soon wondering how well they know the one that they love. With his twin sister Margo at his side, Nick stands by his innocence. Trouble is, if Nick didn’t do it, where is that beautiful wife? And what was left in that silvery gift box hidden in the back of her bedroom closet?

The movie hits theaters October 3, 2014.

We've got a really well made Tomb Raider fan film for you to check out today. This thing gives us a very dark and gritty take on the franchise. It's called "Croft," and it comes from YouTube user CanCinema. The story centers on Lara Croft, "who will risk everything to save a young girl held hostage in the mountains by a group of mercenaries."

Inspired by the Tomb Raider video games among others along with some of the great action movies from the 80's.

Croft is a Short Film created by a group of friends with a passion for film making. Independently produced we chose to use our strengths as a group to create the best experience for the audience we could. Our goal was to make a short film that would entertain and showcase our talents and have fun doing it.

I really liked how hardcore the film was. They didn't give you any kind of sugar coating. On top of that, the script and acting was actually decent. I think you will enjoy this short.

I've been hearing that Ron Moore's new sci-fi series Helix is really good. I've read some reviews for the pilot episode, and it seems like people loved it! That's always a good sign! TV could always use another really cool, creepy sci-fi series! Today we have some new promos with new footage to share with you along with some viral videos.

"Helix" is an intense thriller about a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak, only to find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that may hold the key to mankind's salvation or total annihilation. However, the lethal threat is just the tip of the iceberg, and as the virus evolves, the chilling truth begins to unravel.

Billy Campbell stars as Dr. Alan Farragut, leader of the Centers for Disease Control outbreak field team called upon to investigate and control a potential "hot zone" at a remote Arctic research facility. Hiroyuki Sanada plays Dr. Hiroshi Hataki, director of the outpost and its mysterious viral research program. The show also stars Kyra Zagorsky as Dr. Julia Walker, Mark Ghanimé as Major Sergio Balleseros, Jordan Hayes as Dr. Sarah Jordan, Meegwun Fairbrotheras Daniel Aerov, Catherine Lemieux as Dr. Doreen Boyle and Neil Napier as Dr. Peter Farragut.
