Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman is back in the directors chair for a new sports film called Draft Day. The movie stars Kevin Costner as the general manager of the Cleveland Browns. It follows the character as he looks for a number one draft pic to rescue his team, which is riddled with problems. I like a good sports movie, and this one looks interesting because it deals with a side of sports i'm not really familiar with.

On the day of the NFL Draft, general manager Sonny Weaver (Costner) has the opportunity to save football in Cleveland when he trades for the number one pick. He must quickly decide what he’s willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with dreams of playing in the NFL.

The movie also stars Frank Langella, Jennifer Garner, Denis Leary and Timothy Simmons. The movie is set to be released on April 11t, 2014.

It features Inspector Lestrade (Rupert Graves) following up on some rumored sightings of Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch), who is believed to be dead. It also includes a visit with Watson (Martin Freeman). This was a great little mini-episode that teases the return of everyone's favorite detective.

For those of you who are celebrating Christmas today... Merry Christmas! We've got a beautifully animated short film for you to watch called The Bear & The Hare, which is quite heartwarming. It also includes a rendition of the song "Somewhere Only We Know" sung by Lily Allen.

There once was an animal who had never seen Christmas. As autumn winds turn to winter snow, the bear begins his annual retreat into hibernation to sleep his way through the best part of the year. The festive spirit is strong though, and his friend the hare is determined to give him a gift he has never received before – Christmas.

The short was created for the John Lewis Christmas campaign, which "has become a symbol of the start of the British Christmas season." It was created by Elliot Dear and Yves Geleyn, and I hope you enjoy it.

The 2003 film Love Actually is not only one of my favorite romantic comedies, it's also one of my favorite Christmas movies. Since it's Christmas I thought I'd post the official music video to the song that Bill Nighy sings in the film, "Christmas All Around." We only saw brief snippets of the video in the movie, but this is the whole thing, and it's pretty funny. So Merry Christmas and enjoy!

Gravity is one of the best films that I've seen this year. It was amazing. If you haven't watched it yet, you're really missing out on something special. There's no doubt the movie is going to be nominated for a ton of Academy Awards. Warner Bros. has released a fascinating making-of featurette for the film called "Script-To-Screen," and it highlights the process of making the movie and everything that made it so special. The video also includes the cast and crew discussing what it was like to make the film. There's a lot of great information here, so I suggest you watch it if you enjoyed the film.

Creepy Stop-Motion Animated Short Film OPERATOR

creepy-stop-motion-animated-short-film-operator.jpg

We've got a wonderfully creepy short film for you to check out today. It's a stop-motion animated film called "Operator," it was directed by Sam Barnett, and it has a very nightmarish tone to it. Here's the synopsis,

Something goes very wrong in the middle of Bob’s workday when the corporation he works for installs a new efficiency system. The machine he works on appears to malfunction, then gives birth to mechanical parasite which tries to attach its self to his head. As Bob tries to keep from getting fired while fending off the parasite, he realizes he may be choosing between his life and his job.

The director explains his inspiration for the short, saying,

I was inspired by a few things to make this film. Firstly, Cordyceps mushrooms which infect and control the minds of ants, causing them to climb up as high as possible so that when the mushroom finally bursts from the ants head the spores are spread as far as possible by the wind." Secondly, "parasitic ideas" - such as ideologies designed by cults or oppressive regimes explicitly to weaken and control the holders of such beliefs, and the callous mechanization of corporate bureaucracy. sprawling bureaucracies in super massive organizations can have so many moving parts and conflicting interests that no human maintains real control

Now check it out for yourself!

THE WOLF OF WALL STREET Movie Review

the-wolf-of-wall-street-movie-review.jpg

Director Martin Scorsese has directed yet another incredible film with The Wolf of Wall Street! It has everything that we love about Scorsese's storytelling and filmmaking style. Goodfellas is one of my favorite films from the director, and this is so reminiscent of that movie. It is done in almost that same exact style and has that exact same vibe. If you've seen it, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. Scorsese fans are going to love or hate it because of that. I freakin' loved it! It was a great story, it was very funny, the script was top notch, this direction was magnificent and the acting was absolutely brilliant. There's really nothing not to like about this movie, unless you're offended by nudity, because there's an awful lot of it.

I swear if Leonardo DiCaprio isn't nominated for his role as Jordan Belfort in this film I completely give up on the Academy. I also think DiCaprio should finally walk home with the Best Actor Oscar with this part. Yeah, Tom Hanks was amazing in both Captain Phillips and Saving Mr. Banks, he deserves the nomination, and I wouldn't be disappointed if he won for either of those. But he already has a couple Oscars on display in his home, so I say let's finally give the award to DiCaprio. The guy is an amazing actor, and he gave this movie everything he had, giving his greatest performance to date. He pulled off some pretty crazy shit. His performance wowed the hell of of me. While the Academy is at it, they might as well give Jonah Hill a Best Supporting nomination too! He was equally as good as DiCaprio, and it's also one of the best performances of his career.

As for the story, you can't make this stuff up. It's one of those things that is so crazy and so over the top that it must have happened in real life, and it did! As you've probably heard the movie is based on a true story, and was adapted from the book Belfort wrote about his time as a hardcore ruthless stockbroker. I can't believe some of the stuff these people did for a good time. There was really nothing too much or too crazy for these guys, they could literally do anything they wanted… until they couldn't. The film gives us a look into a world that most of us will never see in real life, but the craziness exists. It also shows us what the consequences are of living that kind of life. Regardless of how hardcore and messed all of this was, the movie is a morality tale, and how Belfort rose to the top, fell, and then picked himself back up again as a different man.

The Wolf of Wall Street was massively entertaining, and anyone that is a fan of Scorsese needs to see it! I personally think that that's the audience that is really going to enjoy this movie!

For some more information on the film, here's the synopsis:

From the American dream to corporate greed, Belfort goes from penny stocks and righteousness to IPOs and a life of corruption in the late 80s. Excess success and affluence in his early twenties as founder of the brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont warranted Belfort the title – “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

Money. Power. Women. Drugs. Temptations were for the taking and the threat of authority was irrelevant. For Jordan and his wolf pack, modesty was quickly deemed overrated and more was never enough.

Gal Gadot on Being Too Skinny for WONDER WOMAN

Via: Batman-News

The more I think about Gal Gadot playing Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder's Batman Vs. Superman, the more I realize she doesn't fit the role. She doesn't look like she could break a twig, and Wonder Woman needs to be able to kick all kinds of ass! She needs to look like a amazonian warrior, and she just doesn't. She's currently doing physical training, so we'll have to see how that turns out. Lucy Lawless is the perfect example of a woman who can kick some ass.

During a recent interview on an Israeli TV show called "Good Evening with Gai Pines," she discussed the role, her reaction to finding out she got the part, being too skinny, and the training she will go though to gain some mass.

Where were you when you heard the news that you’d been cast as Wonder Woman?

I was just on my way to shooting at LA. I landed at NY in a connection flight when my agent, Hadass Lichtenstein, called me. She says to me “Wonder Woman!” and I’m like “What??” – “The role is yours!…and it’s a secret and the news are not yet announced and you can’t tell anyone…”. I’m saying to her “Are you serious??”- and we both scream! Now it’s a plane from Israel to NY and I can’t make loud noise, and so I lean on a window, bending down to my legs, and just try to understand. Long story short – I was totally alone in NY, I got to a hotel at 12 pm, I needed to wake up in the morning for shootings. I remember laying in the darkness by myself, staring at the ceiling, and I was telling myself “It’s not real!”…it shouldn’t be like that, I’m supposed to be like… “where’s the champagne?”.

It’s been said that you’re too skinny for the part. Wonder Woman is large-breasted, is that going to change?

Hmm. I represent the Wonder Women of the new world. Breasts… anyone can buy for 9,000 shekels and everything is fine. By the way, Wonder Woman is amazonian, and historically accurate amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I’d really go “by the book”…it’d be problematic.

So you’re not going to gain a little weight and start eating carbs before filming begins?

It’s the physical preparations that I’m starting now. A very serious training regime – Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, jujutsu, Brazilian…1,000 and 1 things…I’ll gain body mass.

It will be interesting to see how much of a transformation she makes for the part. But I'd rather see a Wonder Woman that looks like she'd be able to kick some ass, than a skinny Wonder Woman that looks like a common model.
