You've got to check out this amazing series of photos featuring a husband, wife, and baby team recreating scenes from classic movies using cardboard! Some of the movies include Jaws, Aliens, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, and Die Hard. The family created a site for the series called Cardboard Box Office, and they explain,

The project began after finding that we had accumulated both a lot of cardboard boxes (due to moving to a new country) and a baby (due to giving birth). With our social lives drastically altered we decided to find a way to make some of those housebound weekends a little more fun.

Looks like they are having a ton of fun doing these, and I'm sure the photos will keep on rolling in! Thanks to Firstshowing for the heads up on these! Check all the photos out below!

Original Rancor Costume from RETURN OF THE JEDI

The original concept for the Rancor creature in George Lucas' 1983 Star Wars film Return of the Jedi included a guy in a costume, just like Godzilla. They ended up scrapping the idea and used a miniature wireframed puppet. According to the guy who posted the photo on Reddit (Join_You_In_The_Sun), "Dennis Muren of ILM wanted to avoid a 'muppet look' and shot at high speeds and sometimes backwards." I'm glad they didn't go with the costume, because it just doesn't look as menacing.

For some reason, Dragonball Evolution was the most requested Honest Trailer of 2013, so as a Christmas gift to the fans Screen Junkies broke down and did it. I've actually never seen the this movie, and I don't imagine I ever will, especially after watching this. It looks so terrible in every way. I'm sorry for anyone who wasted their time and money on seeing this movie.

Sony Pictures has released two new photos from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 featuring Electro. This is going to be one of the biggest films of 2014, and I have no doubt that director Marc Webb has made an awesome movie.

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

The movie hits theaters on May 2nd, 2014.

For those of you looking for more reasons not to see The Legend of Hercules, Summit Entertainment has released four new clips. Does the studio actually want people to go out and see this movie? If so, they should probably stop marketing it because it just looks worse and worse. I don't see how anyone thought this movie would be a good idea, but it comes out on January 10th, 2014.

Want to have your mind blown a little? This video infographic, The History and Future of Everything - Time, is the most interesting and informative video that you'll watch all day. It comes from Kurzgesagt, and it might make you feel some weird feelings. This is the note that came along with it,

How much time do you have left?

Time makes sense in small pieces. But when you look at huge stretches of time, it’s almost impossible to wrap your head around things. So we teamed up with the awesome blog “Wait but Why” and made this video to help you putting things in perspective with some infographics!

Basically what it all comes down to is that if there's a cute girl or cute guy you want to ask out you should do it now, because as the video points out, time is precious.

Is Fox Developing a FANTASTIC FOUR Vs. X-MEN Movie?

is-fox-developing-a-fantastic-four-vs-x-men-movie.jpg

There's a huge rumor that is spreading across the Internet right now that 20th Century Fox might be developing a Fantastic Four Vs. X-Men movie. If it's true the movie would be based on the 1987 miniseries Fantastic Four vs. X-Men by Chris Claremont.

The news comes from a financial advice website called The Motley Fool, but I came across it over on io9

After multiple movies in their respective franchises, Fox has now decided to combine the Fantastic Four and the X-Men for an “Avengers”-style movie that could pay off huge for shareholders.

Based on a 1987 four issue comic called Fantastic Four vs. X-Men, the movie will see the characters against each other because of secrets regarding the Fantastic Four’s origin. The new movie also comes as Fox is rebooting the Fantastic Four series with new actors and actresses.

If this movie does happen it probably won't happen for a few more years. It definitely wouldn't happen until after the Fantastic Four reboot being developed and Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse, which doesn't come out until 2016.

There's nothing official about this right now, but it doesn't seem like a too far-fetched idea. All these films in development could all be leading up to the crossover. If this does happen, we probably won't see it until 2018.

Here's a detailed plot summary of the comic from Wikipedia, although I'm sure things will be adjusted and changed for the film.

Franklin Richards has a nightmare, wherein his father, Reed Richards, murders both the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. Reed then takes a book, disregarding the protests of his son, who says that the book is the cause of everything bad that happened. Reed opens the book and it transforms him into Doctor Doom. Waking in terror, Franklin finds his parents and tells his mother about the dream. As Susan unpacks boxes,[1] she finds Reed's college journal -- which Franklin recognizes as the book from his dream. Ignoring Franklin's warning, she shows the journal to Reed.

At Muir Island, the X-Men and geneticist Moira MacTaggert are in dismay. Kitty Pryde's phasing abilities have gone awry, making the atoms of her body drift farther apart. Magneto suggests seeking assistance from Reed Richards. Traveling to Four Freedoms Plaza in New York City, Magneto persuades the Fantastic Four to help.

Arriving on Muir Island, Reed seems troubled. After examining Kitty, Reed states that his molecular reintegrator device cannot help her in her advanced condition. Magneto, having read up on the device's capabilities, contends that Reed is lying, prompting Wolverine and Rogue to attack the Fantastic Four in order to force them to help. X-Men leader Storm diffuses the situation and renews her plea, but Reed still refuses. The teams are interrupted by a holographic communication from Doctor Doom. Doom offers to duplicate Reed's research, reconstruct the molecular reintegrator and save Kitty. Reed protests that they should not indebt themselves to Doom, but Storm counters that Reed has left them no choice.

Later, Susan reveals the contents of Reed's journal to the rest of the Fantastic Four. A key passage of the journal states that Reed planned to counter the potential supervillain threat by flying Ben Grimm, Johnny Storm, Susan and himself into the cosmic rays which would turn them into the Fantastic Four. Although Reed denies writing the inflammatory passage, Ben, Johnny and the She-Hulk leave Four Freedoms Plaza.

In Latveria, Kitty prepares to commit suicide in order to prevent the X-Men from indebting themselves to Doom for her sake. Franklin, present on the scene via one of his "dream-selves", successfully pleads for Kitty not to do so. While Reed wonders if he might have subconsciously planned for the cosmic radiation to bombard the rocket years earlier, Sue eventually realizes that Reed could not have written the passage from the journal, citing how he responds to Franklin as a parent where the clinical man in the journal would never have done such a thing. Feeling compelled to overcome his self-doubt and help Kitty, decides to travel to Latveria (with Franklin in tow). The other members of the Fantastic Four, having come to terms with the changes their powers made to their lives, return to FF headquarters and volunteer to accompany him. Misunderstanding their intentions, the X-Men attack the Fantastic Four upon their arrival. The two teams relent when Franklin arrives and reminds them that saving Kitty is what is important.

Doctor Doom begins the treatment to save Kitty, with Reed overseeing. When Reed claims that he has made a crucial mistake in the reintegration process, Doom refuses to listen, but Franklin speaks up and shames him into letting Reed help. Seeing Doom's reaction to Reed's struggles with the process, Susan realized that he forged the journal and planted it among Reed's things years ago. Reed successfully navigates the problems with the reintegration, saving Kitty's life and causing her molecular structure to begin its slow return to normal. While the Fantastic Four and the X-Men make amends, Susan confronts Doom, but he will not admit to having written the journal entry. After issuing a veiled threat to Doom, Susan allows the celebration of Kitty's recovery to resume.

Here's our very first official look at Christian Bale playing the biblical prophet Moses in Ridley Scott's next film Exodus.

The film also stars Sigourney Weaver as Tuya, the mother of Ramses, who is being played by Joel Edgerton. Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul plays a supporting role as a Hebrew Slave named Joshua. John Turturro is playing the husband of Weaver's character, and Ben Kingsley also stars in the film.

The story will follow Moses as he leads the Israelites out of Egypt into the Sinai desert and eventually to their Promised Land. The movie comes out on December 12th, 2014.

Martin Scorsese's Student Film IT'S NOT JUST YOU, MURRAY!

martin-scorseses-student-film-its-not-just-you-murray.jpg

Here's a early short film that Martin Scorsese directed while attending NYU. The film is called "It's Not Just You, Murray!" and it was made in 1964. What I really found interesting about this short, and what FSR points out, is how much it's like his latest film The Wolf of Wall Street. Not only that, but it seems like a template for other films he's made as well, such as Goodfellas and Casino. When you watch the short you'll see exactly what I mean.

One of the main things it has in common is that the narrator, Murray, breaks the fourth wall and talks to the audience, showing off his expensive clothes and car, just like DiCaprio's character, Jordan, did in The Wolf of Wall Street. He showed us his house, car, yacht, and trophy wife. Murray then tells the audience how he got so wealthy, just like DiCaprio did in his film. The whole short isn't like The Wolf of Wall Street, but it definitely shows thesame influences.

It's really interesting to see that after all these years Scorsese is still inspired by the things that he did in college. It's a great little short, from one of the best directors working in Hollywood right now, and I hope you enjoy it!

Blood-Drenched Teaser for DEAD SNOW: RED VS. DEAD

We've got an awesome blood-drenched red-band teaser trailer for director Tommy Wirkola's Nazi zombie horror comedy sequel Dead Snow: Red Vs. Dead. This thing looks even better than the first one! It looks like it's going to be a lot of bloody fun!

If the worst day of your life consisted of accidentally killing your girlfriend with an axe, chain-sawing your own arm off, and watching in horror as your closest friends were devoured by a zombified Nazi battalion, you’d have to assume that things couldn’t get much worse. In Martin’s case, that was only the beginning.

Picking up immediately where the original left off, Dead Snow; Red vs. Dead wastes no time getting right to the gore-filled action, leaving a bloody trail of intestines in its wake. Director Tommy Wirkola returns to the helm with a vengeance, coming up with more inventive ways to maim and dismember than you ever thought possible. Combining wry humor with horrific worst-case scenarios, this follow-up to the 2009 Midnight classic is sure to shock the weak-of-heart and delight even the most hard-core fans of the horror genre. Colonel Herzog is back, and he is not to be fucked with.

The movie is set to premiere at Sundance next year! We'll make sure to tell you how it is!

GHOSTBUSTERS - Do Ghosts Have Civil Rights?

During a montage sequence in the movie Ghostbusters, we see a copy of The Atlantic agazine with the headline, "The Politics from the Next Dimension: Do Ghosts Have Civil Rights?" The Awl's Michael Phelan was inspired by that cover and wrote an essay as it might have appeared in the 1984 publication if it were real. He did a great job with it, and you can read an excerpt from it below. To read the whole thing, click here! Below, I've also included artist Dan Schoening's take on the cover.

"Frankly, there's no accepted case law on the undead at the moment," Dr. Spengler added, "but taking into account the inter-dimensional nature of these entities, I would argue that this is largely an immigration issue or a contraband issue depending on the sentience. Technically, INS should be deporting spirits of the deceased, as well as the other apparitions, the demons. We submitted a contract proposal, actually, but they haven't responded."

When this topic arose, I finally summoned the courage to ask the Ghostbusters about their containment unit, which Stantz, Spengler and Venkman led me downstairs to see. The ultimate spooky basement, the bottom floor of the firm's TriBeCa headquaters is an ever-increasing summation of every other haunted basement in the world. Behind a phalanx of cautionary industrial signage, a red-painted steel casing, and an energy-intensive magnetic field, lies every spook, specter, apparition, ghoul and ghost captured by the Ghostbusters. Again: allegedly. Listening to the unnerving hum of the containment unit, I asked again about the ethical dimensions of corralling these seemingly conscious beings indefinitely within the company's high-tech purgatory.

"We all feel kinda bad about the Sedgwick slimer," Stantz told me. "After some of the hauntings we've witnessed in the past month, there's definitely something endearing about a ghost whose only crime is maniacally pigging out."

"He also smelled like onions," according to Venkman. "I'm not letting him out of there."

Here's a new photo from the set of Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past featuring the director with his cast of characters sporting their cool '70s style sunglasses. The pic features Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Nicholas Hoult. I'm really excited for this movie, and I can't wait to see more footage from it!

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.

The film is set to be released on May 23rd, 2014.

I found this awesome artwork of a young Palpatine done by long time Star Wars artist Chris Trevas. It also features Darth Plagueis who was Palpatine's master featured in the novels who had arguably the greatest understanding of the Dark Side. From what little I've read, I would love to see a miniseries that highlighted the story of these two when this picture took place!

As many of you already know, Stephen Colbert is a huge fan of The Hobbit, and director Peter Jackson even gave him a little cameo in the most recently film, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. I completely missed it, but to be honest I wasn't even looking. I'm sure most of you missed it as well, so here it is. It's an incredibly brief appearance as a Lake-town spy.

Here's a description of the scene from the Reddit user that pointed it out to the Internet.

Okay, it’s right as the dwarves are sneaking into Laketown. Bard’s son stops them and says that there are spys [sic] watching the house. Shortly after it shows Bard and his Son walking alone and the camera pans to the right and shows Stephen looking at them and he turns his head and his eyepatch falls down.

I don't know how I've never heard of this 1980s zombie film Nightmare City before, as it looks pretty incredible! But thanks to io9 I've been introduced to it, and now I need to watch it! The trailer starts out with a zombie flying and landing a plane full of zombies, and when it lands, bloody chaos ensues! The movie was directed by Umberto Lenzi, and here's the synopsis,

An airplane exposed to radiation lands, and blood drinking zombies emerge armed with knives, guns and teeth! They go on a rampage slicing, dicing, and biting their way across the Italian countryside.

Enjoy the craziness!

While Warner Brothers figures out how to actually accomplish a quality Wonder Woman movie, the sculptors and sculptresses over at Sideshow don’t seem to have a problem working with the renowned amazon. The gorgeous, hinted-at premium format figure doesn’t have any specs yet, but from the small peek this is one of, if not the, best Wonder Woman piece Sideshow has produced, period.

Holding her shield in one hand (which I am a complete sucker for) and a mean-looking spear in the other, all while staring at you with that “I wish you would” grin, there isn't anything I don't like here. The piece is going to be pricey, if past premium formats are any indication. That said, all signs point to that not being an issue whatsoever, and I’m sure there are many Diana fans who feel the same way.
