THE WALKING DEAD: Why I Think SPOILER Is Going To Die Next

the-walking-dead-why-i-think-spoiler-is-going-to-die-next-header.jpg

I sighed when I saw the preview for this week's The Walking Dead. SOME WILL FALL...yeah no s****. How many times has this show added a cast of 30 people to the survivors right before a conflict? 9/10 it's always the extras, or minor characters you only saw for a couple episodes. This show (especially in the past two seasons) is great at building up your expectations and then leaving you with a "meh" afterwards. HOWEVER! I do think there will be a big kill this mid-season finale! Who will it be though?

Hershel is my pick for the survivor to die this week. I say this because it's been a long while since any of the main cast has been killed off, and everything just seems too perfect for it not to happen. First, in the clip from the next episode we see Hershel in the yard amongst the fighting...when has that happened at all this season? He's spent the last three episodes inside the prison tending to the sick. There's really no reason for him to be out there unless it's relevant to the plot. Second, we have this screenshot from the clip.

VASOWyQ.png

Now, the Governor has been known to take prisoners before, but this is an all out assault. There's no base camp to hold him, and this all seems like a spur of the moment attack. Let's also remember that Hershel was spotted right next to Michonne, and given the type of guy that he is, it's not too far fetched to see Hershel stalling the Governor long enough to let her get away and becoming a casualty in the process.

Now this is all well and good, but to be honest it wasn't until rewatching a key scene in last week's episode that I put the final nail in the veterinarian's coffin. The woman who is with the Governor (I can't remember her name) mentions that she is the only "nurse" available for the camp. Hmmm...which would be a better story line? Hershel and this new nurse working together to save lives after the Governor takes the prison? Or would it be Maggie dealing with the struggle of trusting a woman to save her lover (Glenn) when her group was also responsible for her father's death?

Of course, all of this is pure speculation, but I would like to think the writers of the show learned their lesson from Season 3's finale. You can't tease death and then kill off all the extras. It pisses people off and leaves a sour taste in their mouths. As much as I hate to see Hershel go, I think his number is up this week on The Walking Dead.

First Third Party Steam Machine Revealed, Looks Sexy

Steam Machines is Valve’s initiative to bring PC gaming into the living room and it seems like the movement is picking up steam (hee hee). Custom PC creator, iBuyPower, has announced that they are working on two models of Steam Machine, codenamed Gordon and Freeman (the name of the hero from Half Life). With the announcement they released a picture and the specs of one of the models. The device itself looks interesting. Sure, it’s basically just another box to put on your entertainment center, but it’s a shiny white box. The Verge reported that it will have “a multicore AMD CPU and a discrete AMD Radeon R9 270 graphics card” which is a decent amount of power, especially for $500.

ibuypower-steam-machine-560.jpg

BuyPower claims that the specs will be able to run all current Linux Steam games at 1080p resolution at 60 fps, which is just as good as the Xbox One and PS4. We will have to wait and see just how many different games it will be able to support at that resolution, hopefully it manages to last for a long time, especially since Valve is trying to sell Steam Machines as consoles, which you don’t have to upgrade. If Steam Machines end up having to be upgraded regularly, then the allure will definitely fade pretty quickly.

Trailer for the Gritty Death Match RAZE

Here's the trailer for a crazy-looking violent action thriller called Raze. The story follows a group of woman who are trapped in enclosed spaces and forced to fight to the death to keep their loved ones alive. This looks like a pretty twisted movie that has a very gritty and hardcore feel to it. If you're into films that involve fights to the death, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this one.

The movie was directed by Josh C. Waller, and it stars Zoë Bell (Death Proof), Rachel Nichols, Tracie Thoms, Doug Jones, Sherilyn Fenn, and Bruce Thomas. Here's the synopsis,

Awakening after being abducted, JAMIE finds herself in a concrete bunker, and she discovers that she is not alone. She and SABRINA, a fellow abductee, both soon realize that they are in a modern day “coliseum” where, along with 48 other women, they are condemned to kill each other in order to protect their very own loved ones.

IFC Midnight will release the movie in select theaters and VOD on January 10th, 2014.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2: Chris Cooper on Sinister Six and Norman Osborne

It looks like Sony Pictures and director Marc Webb are going to be setting up a whole Spider-Man cinematic universe. They already have three more Spider-Man movies planned and some spin-off films in development. There's no doubt that we'll be seeing more of than just that.

In a recent interview with MTV, Chris Cooper, who plays Norman Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, talks a little bit about the character, the Sinister Six, and the direction they are taking the films.

"'[Amazing] Spider-Man 2' was an introduction to Norman, and — you'll see — an extremely odd introduction, which apparently will lead to something more."

When asked about the Sinister Six being the future direction of the franchise, Cooper revealed that he was aware of it, and says,

"They sent me some material, but they said also that this Spider-Man is its own Spider-Man. We're just kind of starting from the beginning."

In a previous interview with Paul Giamatti, he talked about the possible direction of the villains, saying,

"And I believe there's a lot of stage-setting for the next film. There are several villains in this movie, and some of them are more foreground and important. Jamie Foxx is and stuff. A couple of us are more hanging around the background because I think there will be a bigger deal. I don't actually know, but that seems to be what they're doing. I'm not an idiot either, but I can't claim hard and fast knowledge of this. I won't. I can't because I don't actually know, but you and I can speculate."

I'm excited for the possibilities! There's so much that they can do with these characters, and it will be fun to see what they do with it.

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away – but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

The film also stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Sally Field, B.J. Novak, and Sarah Gadon. It's set to hit theaters on May 2nd, 2014.

Superhero Remakes of Classic Paintings

I saw a contest on Worth1000 where artists had to draw superheroes into classic works of art. A lot of the entries are good, but I was personally blown away by the work of Jbuck43701. I would purchase many of these not only for the insane classiness of being remakes of classic art, but of course because I care more now thta they are superheroes! This is fantastic artwork that would not make me ashamed to hang a naked Superman on my wall.

At 90 years old Stan Lee shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, it's being reported that he's developing a secret film project with with producer Avi Arad. There is absolutely no information on what the project is going to be about, not even a title. While talking to THR, Arad said, "Some titles give away too much." Arad has been a producer on several Marvel film projects in the past, and he went on to talk about working with Lee, saying,

"At the ripe old age of 90, he can still put together magic. He’s as sharp as a Japanese cooking knife. His mind is as young as it used to be."

The film project is set up at Columbia Pictures and is in the very early stages of development. It will be interesting to see what they have come up with. We'll fill you in on more details as they become available.

It was recently announced that a sequel to the classic Christmas movie It's a Wonderful Life is going into development. Today we have a fantastic mashup trailer that takes that movie and mashes it together with Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street. The end result is the trailer for a fake sequel called The Wolf of Bedford Falls. It gives us a look at what might have happened had George Bailey taken the job that Potter offered him in the original movie.

HERCULES: THE LEGEND BEGINS - Another Full Trailer

We've got another full trailer for Hercules: The Legend Begins. This is the one that stars Kellan Lutz, not Dwayne Johnson. The movie looks like it could actually be pretty good... for a TV movie on the SyFy Channel. There's a lot of new footage in the trailer, and the more I see from the film the worse it looks.

In Ancient Greece 1200 B.C., a queen succumbs to the lust of Zeus to bear a son promised to overthrow the tyrannical rule of the king and restore peace to a land in hardship. But this prince, Hercules, knows nothing of his real identity or his destiny. He desires only one thing: the love of Hebe, Princess of Crete, who has been promised to his own brother. When Hercules learns of his greater purpose, he must choose: to flee with his true love or to fulfill his destiny and become the true hero of his time. The story behind one of the greatest myths is revealed in this action-packed epic - a tale of love, sacrifice and the strength of the human spirit.

The movie is set to hit theaters on January 10th, 2014.

Quentin Tarantino's Next Film Will Be Another Western

Director Quentin Tarantino was recently a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, where he revealed that the next movie he will be making is a western. He doesn't give any details on what it will be about, but this is what he did say.

"I can't talk that much about it, but I will say one thing. I haven't told anyone about this publicly, but I will say the genre. It's a Western. It's not a 'Django' sequel, but it's another Western, and the thing is I had so much fun doing 'Django' and I love Westerns so much, that after I taught myself how to make one, it's like 'well okay, now let me make another one now I know what I'm doing.'"

I loved what he did with Django Unchained, and as a fan of Tarantino's work and the western genre, I cant wait to see what he has up his sleeve. I have no doubt that it's going to be another hardcore western that fans are going to love.

Elizabeth Olsen Says Scarlet Witch Is a "Messed Up Lady"

On Monday Marvel officially announced that Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson would be playing Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in Joss Whedon's The Avengers: Age of Ultron. In a recently interview with Moviefone, Olsen talks the character and her excitement to play her, saying,

"I hung out with Mr. Whedon recently. I'm really excited about this movie. I'm so excited about Scarlet Witch. I have had so much fun reading all about her and I am like learning new words that I had to look up on Wikipedia. I'm really enjoying it.

"I just love Scarlet Witch. I love her. It's so funny because I'm often talking about all these psychologically damaged people, but when you talk about Scarlet Witch... She is a messed up lady. She has got more sh*t to deal with than anybody else I know. I'm excited to figure out what's appropriate to use for her, because there's so much material from all of these decades, and we're going to tell this one story. So to be able to choose what you're going to bring into it from all of this abundance, it's really fun."

Olsen is a great actress, and I'm sure she's going to be awesome in the role. The movie is set to be released on May 1st, 2015, and the Avengers come together again to take on a crazy new villain that is going to put them to the test.

Check out this great video motion graphic called Cult Classic Cars: The Best Movie Cars of All Time. It was created by Kayla Matthews and features images and information on several of our favorite movie cars such as the Tumbler from The Dark Knight Rises, Eleanor from Gone in 60 Seconds, Barricade from Transformers, the Cherry Red Chevelle from Pulp Fiction, the 1968 Ford Mustang from Bullitt, and more.

Some of the greatest cars in the world were crafted specifically for a movie role. A great car can make or break a film. Here's a few of the best cars featured in movies. Sometimes, they are just as famous as the actors themselves.

The video was actually put together pretty well, and it's got some fun information.

Paul Greengrass to Direct Stephen King's THE STAND?

Warner Bros. has been trying to get Stephen King's big screen adaptation of The Stand into development for years. Both Ben Affleck and Scott Cooper were attached to direct it, but both have dropped out. Now, according to Badass Digest, the studio is looking to bring on Bourne franchise director Paul Greengrass to take it on. According to their sources, he's on the top of the studio's wish list.

The book tells the ultimate story of good vs. evil after a virus wipes out most of the population. The story features dozens of characters and overlapping storylines running over many years, but the struggle boils down to a group of survivors fighting the Antichrist-like Randall Flagg.

Greengrass is a solid director that has made some great films, but I don't think this kind of film really fits his directing style. I want to see the movie get made, I just don't think Greengrass can give the story the adaptation that it needs. I could be wrong, but I don't think he can give it the right vibe. He most recently directed Captain Phillips

What do you think about the possibility of Greengrass taking on this film?

Here's a description of the book:

When a man escapes from a biological testing facility, he sets in motion a deadly domino effect, spreading a mutated strain of the flu that will wipe out 99 percent of humanity within a few weeks. The survivors who remain are scared, bewildered, and in need of a leader. Two emerge--Mother Abagail, the benevolent 108-year-old woman who urges them to build a community in Boulder, Colorado; and Randall Flagg, the nefarious "Dark Man," who delights in chaos and violence.

A couple of years ago there was a new film version of Zorro announced called Zorro Reborn. It was described as "a futuristic reboot of the Zorro mythology." The film was in development at 20th Century Fox with short film director Ricardo de Montreuil attached. It may be dead at the moment, but a concept trailer for the film was shot, and it looks like it would have been a very different, very fun take on the legendary character. He's like a ninja!

There is a script for the movie that has gone through the hands of several screenwriters, such as Glenn Gers, Stevie Long, Brian McGreevy, Lee Shipman, and Justin Marks. There's been no movement on the film in awhile, but you never know, maybe one day it will get the greenlight. If it does, does it look like something you would enjoy watching?

Sci-Fi Short Films - AFTER THE DISCO with Anton Ylechin and Kate Mara

Anton Yelchin and Kate Mara star in a series of great-looking sci-fi shorts called "After the Disco." The films serve as a music video for the band Broken Bells, which consists of Danger Mouse and The Shins' James Mercer.

The films follow a trippy romance that unfolds between Mara and Yelchin. They are swept away into a futuristic landscape, spaceship, and disco. They were directed by Jacob Gentry, who says in an interview with The Verge that the short is based on a story written by Danger Mouse and inspired by sci-fi imagery that Mercer sent him.

"James Mercer was sending me images of Barbarella and Logan’s Run, that sort of late ‘60s/early ‘70s science fiction. The same way we mixed all those visual styles is the same way Broken Bells mixed all the musical styles from every era to make something unique. It has an otherworldly feel."

We have two of several shorts that are being released in installments. There's no word on how many there will be, but the second short leaves us with cliffhanger, so it looks like there are more to come.

Here’s a set of Marvel art from Jeff “Dekal” Becker. Jeff has a great grasp on these characters and their physicality. However, it’s the little details he adds to the background that make these pieces feel incredibly tangible. I particularly love his take on Spidey in his black symbiote suit -- at first glance, I thought it was a photo.

Have you ever looked at Batman Begins and wondered what it would be like if it were a comedy? Me neither, but I'm glad I saw this video as it made me laugh more than a few times. The best part for me is when he's in the car with the gun, as the look on his face is priceless when set to a more lighthearted soundtrack! Great video by Geordicus!

How does the old saying go? “If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck”? In Abduckted, a comedy short from Seth Boyden, we learn that following that advice can sometimes put you in a sticky situation. I’ll be sticking to hunting ducks in video games.

If you're a Raiders of the Lost Ark fan, you've got to watch this fantastic PBS special focusing on the making of the classic Steven Spielberg directed film. There's a lot of footage included in the special that I've never seen before, and it's loaded with a ton of fun and interesting information! I personally thought it was really cool watching footage of Spielberg directing his actors. This is a must watch for any fan of Indian Jones. Via: /Film
