HBO released another trailer for their awesome looking crime thriller, True Detective. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson star in the eight-episode series as two detectives named Rust Cohle and Martin Hart. Their "lives collide and entwine during a seventeen-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana. The investigation of a bizarre murder in 1995 is framed and interlaced with testimony from the detectives in 2012, when the case has been reopened."

Every new season will involve a new crime mystery with a new cast of characters. The show is set to premiere in January 2014.

Rob Cohen to Direct ROAD HOUSE Remake

Fast and Furious director Rob Cohen is set to direct a remake of Patrick Swayze's 1989 film Road House. Why? I don't know! I don't want to see a remake of Road House. Hell, I didn't really like the original film anyway.

The original film followed a tough bouncer with a mysterious past who was hired to tame a dirty bar in Missouri.

The script for the film was written by Michael Stokes, who also wrote Millennium Films’ action movie Crash Bandits, which is another film that Cohen will be directing.

Cohen most recently directed the terrible film Alex Cross, and he’s currently directing the thriller The Boy Next Door, which stars Jennifer Lopez as a woman having an affair with her teenage neighbor.

This just seems like a pointless remake that I don't see making very much money when all is said and done. Via: The Wrap

Vanessa Hudgens wants people to see her as a real actress and has taken on roles to take her in that direction. She recently starred in films such as Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers and a thriller called The Frozen Ground. Now she's got a new movie coming out called Gimme Shelter, which looks like might be the best thing she's done yet.

The movie is based on a true story, and she plays 16-year-old Agnes “Apple” Bailey, who is pregnant and lives a life of homelessness before finding caretakers in a local shelter.

As a pregnant teenager, Apple’s journey plummets her into a perilous struggle until finding salvation in a suburban shelter for homeless teens. With provisions of unprecedented comfort, a collective sisterhood connection and female empowerment, the shelter elevates Apple to break the shackles of her past and inspires her to embrace the future with clarity, maturity and hope not only for herself but her unborn child.

The movie also stars James Earl Jones, Rosario Dawson, and Brendan Fraser, and it comes out on January 24th, 2014.

A fun little viral video has been released for X-Men: Days of Future Past that reveals a conspiracy theory called "The Bent Bullet" that links Magneto to the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

"Half a century ago, Magneto was implicated in the mutant plot to assassinate President John F. Kennedy. The events of that fateful day in November have been a point of contention between humans and the mutants ever since. After years of incarceration, do you think Magneto is guilty or innocent? Tell us why in the comments." - The Bent Bullet

Frank Grillo Says CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 Is an Origin Film for Crossbones and More

The next big film coming from Marvel is Captain America: The Winter Solider, and I'm really looking forward to it! The movie looks like it could actually be as big as The Avengers, but without the whole Avengers team. It will, however, be introducing a bunch of great new characters and villains including Falcon, Batroc the Leaper, The Winter Soldier, and Crossbones, who is being played by Frank Grillo.

Talking to CraveOnline Grillo discussed his character Brock Rumlow, a.k.a. Crossbones, and says that it's an origin film for him and the other new characters introduced.

"It’s an origin film. You meet people who are going to be around for a while, so they introduce the characters. It’s almost like it’s a series. It’s fun. I can’t say very much about it because Marvel’s very strict about what you’re allowed to say. The movie, we’ve seen bits of it, and it is spectacular."

When asked if Marvel had plans for Grillo to return as Crossbones in any future films he replied,

"They do actually. We’ll see what happens. We’ll see if the fans respond to Brock and how it goes."

frank-grillo-says-captain-america-2-is-an-origin-film-for-crossbones-and-more-social.jpg

He went on to say working with Marvel was a "great opportunity," and then explained,

"For any actor, it’s huge and you really get an understanding of that when you see guys like [Robert] Redford show up to do a role. What’s happening now is I think since all the Marvel movies had such a wide range of viewers globally that you’d be crazy not to want to be involved on some level with the Marvel people. They do it like nobody else. For me it’s a great opportunity because it’s an international film. It just raises your exposure that much more."

Everything I've seen from the movie so far has been amazing! It's looks so much bigger and better than I expected it to be. I'm really excited for it.

Stop-Motion Film BOXTROLLS - Behind the Scenes Trailer

Laika Studios has released a charming new trailer for their next stop-motion animated feature, The Boxtrolls. It features a behind the scenes look at how the movie was made, and also includes some more footage from the film.

Laika has previously made films such as 2009's Coraline and 2012's ParaNorman. Both of those films were fantastic, and it looks like this new one is going to be just as fun. I'm looking forward to this!

The film is based on Alan Snow’s novel Here Be Monsters, which follows a group of sewer-dwelling Boxtrolls that have raised an orphan boy. The voice talent used for the film include Ben Kingsley, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Elle Fanning, Jared Harris, Toni Collette, Nick Frost, Richard Ayoade, Tracy Morgan, and Simon Pegg. Here's the synopsis:

The new 3D animated feature from Laika Studios tells the tale of the Boxtrolls, monsters who live underneath the charming streets of Cheesebridge, who crawl out of the sewers at night to steal what the townspeople hold most dear: their children and their cheeses. At least, that’s the legend the townspeople have always believed. In truth, the Boxtrolls are a community of lovable oddballs who are raising as one of their own an abandoned and orphaned human boy named Eggs. When the Boxtrolls are targeted by a villainous exterminator who is bent on eradicating them, Eggs must venture aboveground to save them, where he teams with an adventurous young girl to save not only the Boxtrolls but the soul of Cheesebridge.

The BoxTrolls opens in theaters on September 26th, 2014.

We are less than a month out from Anchorman 2 hitting theaters, and the media frenzy is in full swing. Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and David Koechner got together to recreate one of the best scenes of the movie for an audience in Sydney, Australia. While I do appreciate the fact that I can hear the entire video over the deafening silence of the crowd, why wasn't there more hooting and hollering when this was going on?!  I would've been up on my seat if this happened in my theater!

Review: Disney’s FROZEN - Perfect for the Whole Family

Official Synopsis: Fearless optimist Anna (Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey—teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven—to find her sister Elsa (Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.

Review

Gone are the days of the titular Disney princess. Disney’s Frozen, a musical loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen, employs the same non-gender specific title formula used when renaming their Rapunzel adaptation Tangled. With Pixar’s Brave and Wreck-it Ralph (with its hidden princess) having somewhat followed suit, it’s clear the studio is specifically targeting male audiences. Luckily, Disney hasn’t just set out to appeal to males with the marketing of the film. Frozen has something to offer everyone of all ages.

For the video game obsessed dudes out there, there’s no doubt Wreck-it Ralph is a hard act to follow. No, there are no nostalgic video game character cameos in this film. There is, however, action… and enough of it to put any squirming ten year-old on the edge of his seat. There are also male characters who are, off-the-bat, truly admirable.

Disney has at times received flack for their portrayal of female characters and the mixed messages it sent to young girls. For you worried parents: Anna and Elsa are strong, layered characters who stay true to themselves and are willing to put the needs of others and the greater good first. Yes, there’s a handsome prince and extravagant parties, but the stark reality of what those things can entail are clearly laid out.

Everybody loves to laugh, and Frozen is one of the funniest Disney films to date. Josh Gad’s Olaf and Alan Tudyk’s Duke character steal every scene they're in, but each character pulls its comedic weight. This isn’t an entirely light-hearted film though. The movie packs in some serious emotional punches right from the start of the film, and there are non-telegraphed twists that will catch even adult audiences off guard.

Perhaps the longest lasting impression Frozen will leave on audiences is the music. The original songs written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon) and beautifully performed by the cast will be hummed all the way home and will surely be stuck in your head for days after seeing the movie.

This film has enormous set pieces in an even more massive and immersive world with likable and relatable characters. To compare Frozen to a non-Disney film would just be unfair. So all I’m left with to say is, Frozen is Disney animation and storytelling at its best.

9-year-old-ninja-kicks-ass-in-five-knives-music-video-header.jpg

You've got to check out this awesome music video for a song called "The Future," by a band called Five Knives. In "a bleak dystopia, a student clone fights back against an army of militant teachers with his bare hands and feet." The student is a 9-year-old ninja who pulls off some great martial arts choreography!

The video was directed by Lance Drake, who told io9 that it was influenced by George Lucas' THX1138, and then gives some information on the kid in the video, saying,

The 9-year-old is named Dallas Liu. He is a real life ninja and competes in a modern fighting / dance style called tricking. He is the next Bruce Lee.

The kid sure looks like he could kick some ass, and the video turned out really freakin' cool. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
