Jude Law has had a lot of supporting roles in films lately, but he takes the lead in a new gangster film called Dom Hemingway, and it looks like he gives a great performance. The movie looks entertaining, but all of the reviews I've seen have been raving about Law's performance. 

Dom Hemingway (Law) is a larger-than-life safecracker with a loose fuse, funny, profane, and dangerous. Back on the streets of London after twelve years in prison, it’s time to collect what he’s owed for keeping his mouth shut.

Travelling with his devoted best friend Dickie (Richard E. Grant), Dom visits his crime boss Mr Fontaine (Demián Bichir) in the south of France to claim his reward. But Dom’s drink and drug-fuelled ego decides that what he’s lost can’t be replaced. One car accident and a femme fatale later, Dom realises that his priority must be to reconnect with his long-lost daughter Evelyn (Emilia Clarke). But Dom does what Dom does best. He screws things up for everyone…

The movie will be released in the UK on November 15th, and in the US on April 4th.

This is a great new preview for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. featuring a ton of new footage from the series. The preview was shown on ESPN's Monday Night Countdown last night. Tonight you'll actually be able to watch the the show! I've heard a lot of great things about it, and I'm excited to finally be able to see it! 
  

Bryan Cranston appeared on Conan last night talking about the most erotic love letter he ever received. They also discussed the final episode, which, minor spoiler, it sounds like Jesse and Walt will be reuniting in the final episode! I seriously can't wait for Sunday! Can it be here already?

TNT has released another great trailer for Frank Darabont's highly anticipated new series, Mob City. It stars Walking Dead alums Jon Bernthal and Jeffrey DeMunn, as well as Ed Burns, Simon Pegg, Neal McDonough, Jeremy Luke, and more.

The six-part series takes place in Los Angeles in 1947, and it's based on the real-life accounts of the cops and gangsters of the time. "This is the seductive story of the violent crime underbelly of America's most glamorous city and those who wanted to control it."

The show is scheduled to premiere on December 4th, and it looks really freakin' awesome! 

Jon Bernthal plays Joe Teague, an ex-Marine now working as an LAPD cop in an era rampant with police corruption. Jeffrey DeMunn plays Detective Hal Morrison, who heads the LAPD’s new mob squad, with Jeremy Strong as Detective Mike Hendry, Morrison’s second in command. Neal McDonough is Capt. William Parker, Teague’s boss who is determined to weed out corruption and bring down Cohen. And Milo Ventimiglia plays Ned Stax, who fought alongside Teague during World War II but who now works as a lawyer with connections to the mob. The project also co-stars Ron Rifkin playing Los Angeles Mayor Fletcher Bowron, who makes it his mission to clean up corruption in city government; Pihla Viitala as Anya, the head bartender at Bunny’s on Central Avenue, the West Coast center of the black jazz scene; and Alexa Davalos as Jasmine, a beautiful woman whose past has come back to haunt her.

In really interesting news first reported by ComingSoon.net , Cillian Murphy auditioned for the role of Batman. Yesterday we showed a screen test similar to this of Christian Bale auditioning in the Val Kilmer bat-suit, which you can find here. The whole screen test will be included on The Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collector's Edition if you are looking to pick that up.

It makes my head spin to even consider the possibility that Murphy was up for Batman! Of course, this could have been the screen test every actor did, but imagine the difference in the film had he been the bat, with Bale taking the role of Scarecrow? Bale as Scarecrow would have been a performance that would rank up there with Heath Ledger's Joker in my opinion. I really can't wait to see this video. 

Halo Initiation tells the story of how Sarah Palmer became a Spartan, and by the end of this second issue I am already 10 times more enamored with her than I ever was with Master Chief ( I know, I know... blasphemy). Part of that is credit to her sense of humor, which is on full display in this issue especially in panels like the ones showing her Weapon X like spartanization. Brian Reed's voice comes through loud and clear here, and that's a good thing. While her Spartan teammates are less than stellar, in both skills and personality, it doesn’t take anything away from Sarah. I do hope the squad gets a bit more developed as we go along, though.

So far we’ve only seen the Spartans in training, but by issue’s end we get a glimpse of the spiffy armor all Halo fans know and love. Of course, there has to be a reason, and here its a bit similar to the revolutionary war, but in no way like the revolutionary war. The colonies are having a hard time surviving and seem to be just scraping by, and the government decides to spend billions of dollars on building a state of the art frigate for a war that is already mostly over. Well, it turns out when things like that happen people get a bit perturbed, as seems to be the case here. Some upstarts, led by Isla Zane, decide to take it for themselves, and now we have a game, folks. Speaking of Isla, it's refreshing to see both the main protagonist and antagonist be powerful, confident, and above all, interesting female characters. It's something we need much more of.

All of this is rendered quite nicely by Marco Castiello, and his art alone gives these characters some personality, something they desperately need at this point. He keeps the action moving and knows how to keep your eye busy. I'm looking forward to next issue, as it appears we’ll get to see some Spartan armor in action, and that is something Castiello should illustrate very well.

Suffice it to say, I'm enjoying the series quite a bit more than expected, and while the first two issues have contained a great deal of setup, I think issue 3 looks to get the party bus on the road. If you're interested, make sure to catch a 6 page preview here.

This is the trailer for a new event series, Bonnie & Clyde, which follow the crime spree of the legendary outlaws. The Movie star Emile Hirsch, Holliday Grainger, and William Hurt. The two night event is set to premiere on The History Channel, A&E, and Lifetime on Sunday, December 8th and again on Monday, December 9th at 9 p.m. The History Channel does a great job with their series, and this looks solid. I'll be watching this one.

If for some reason you don't know the history or outcome of Bonnie & Clyde, don't watch the trailer because it's full of spoilers.  

The folks at Batman News did an extensive review of The Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collectors Edition, and they have been able to share a few images from the collection like Anne Hathaway's Catwoman Audition, Tom Hardy's Bane Costume Test, and Aaron Eckhart's Two-Face CGI Effects Test. In awesome-that-it-almost-happened/sad-that-it-didn't news, Alan Cumming almost reprised his role as Nightcrawler in the upcoming X Men: Days of Future Past!  Unfortunately, Cumming was unable to appear in the film, as he explains below.

“There was a time when it was maybe going to happen, but I wasn’t available so it didn’t happen. I really loved that film that I was in, don’t get me wrong, I thought it was a great film, but it wasn’t my favourite experience of my life.

All that being said, according to X Men Films Cummings said that if he was asked to return he said he would "give it a go."

Well hell, would've been awesome to see him involved, but what can you do? I kind of wish I knew why he didn't enjoy playing Nightcrawler. In my mind he's just as much that character as Hugh Jackman is Wolverine!  

After an action packed six days, the Group segment of the League of Legends 2013 World Championships has drawn to a close. After 41 (one extra because of a tiebreaker) intense games, the four best teams rose to the top and SK Telecom T1 from Korea, OMG from China, FNATIC from Europe, and GAMBIT BENQ from Europe will be advancing to the Quarterfinals, leaving both North American teams, as well as the Southeast Asian and Lithuanian teams, in the dust.

SK Telecom T1, OMG, and FNATIC all finished with 7-1 records, showing that they were the definite powerhouses of the Group round. GAMBIT BENQ barely managed to squeak by with a record of 6-3 after a close tiebreak game.

Now that the Group round is complete, the four winning teams will join the four teams that got into the quarterfinals by default (for their division victories). The quarterfinals will take place until the 28th, when the final game will be decided, and will consist of a single set of best 2 out of 3.

This next section of the tournament is going to be interesting because many of the teams that will be competing against each other have faced each other before in their respective regional tournaments. OMG and Royal Club will fight in the very first round, which will be a replay of the final game of the Chinese Regionals! This match is taking place on the 24th and won’t be one to miss.

UPDATE: Since this article didn’t publish until the 24th, two rounds have already been played. Naijin Black Sword took out GAMBIT BENQ, and the last North American team, Cloud 9 HyperX, was knocked out of the competition by FNATIC. Thus dies the North American hopes for a World Champ. Make sure to watch my boys at OMG tonight!

Adam Savage of MythBusters gave the closing speech at Boing Boing: Ingenuity. He shares his personal history of being a maker. The real highlight of the whole video is the last third, when he shares his "Ground Rules for Success"--the advice he gives to his children.

Seriously though, it'd be tough enough to be homeless, let alone keep up with Breaking Bad on a Sunday night! I really doubt this guy is actually homeless as he references an episode from as recently as two weeks ago. Either way the fact he's homeless has very little to do with this video.  The Walt Jr. and Jesse impressions are spot on, and he can do a solid Mike for what it's worth! Hope if this man is indeed homeless he can find work as a voice guy or something!

Warner Bros. has teamed up with FOX to develop a Batman-inspired TV series called Gotham. According to Deadline, the story will "explore the roots of Commissioner James Gordon, a regular figure in Batman tales, and the villains that put Gotham on the map." Gordon is a detective with the Gotham City Police Department in the series, which takes place before Batman enters the picture. 

The series is being developed by Bruno Heller (The Mentalist), it has a series commitment at FOX, and the pilot has been put on the fast track to production. 

The character was played by Gary Oldman in Christopher Nolan's trilogy, and it will be interesting to see who they get to play him in this series. This is an exciting show with a ton of potential, and I hope it lives up to it! I'm excited about this one--it could be awesome!

Seth Rogen is re-teaming with Evan Goldberg and Jonah Hill to bring us an R-rated animated comedy called Sausage Party. This is the same group of talent that helped develop the apocalyptic comedy, This is the End. The movie is set up at Sony Pictures, and Megan Ellison is producing. 

The film will be directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan who have both worked on kid-friendly films such as Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens, and Madagascar 3. This definitely seems like it's going to be a very strange movie.

The story follows a sausage on its quest to “discover the truth about his existence. After falling out of a shopping cart, our hero sausage and his new friends embark on a perilous journey through the supermarket to get back to their aisles before the 4th of July sale.”

It will be interesting to see what they do with an adult-themed animated movie like this. I have no doubt it will be vulgar and irreverent. I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out. What do you think about an R-rated comedy about a sausage on the adventure of his life?

300 star Gerard Butler is looking to join Alex Proyas' new film project, Gods of Egypt. The actor is currently in negotiations, and if cast, he will join Game Of Thrones'’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. 

Deadline reports the Butler will play Set, the god of the desert storms and foreigners in ancient Egyptian religion. "In Egyptian mythology, he killed and mutilated his own brother Osiris." Coster-Waldau will play Horus, the son of Osiris, the god of Sky. He teams up with a human thief and Hathor, the goddess of love, on a magical quest to avenge the death of his father.

The script was written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, the team behind Universal’s new Dracula film. This could be a visually stunning movie, and I like the cast they are putting together for the film. I'm looking forward to seeing what Proyas is planning for it.
