I AM STREET FIGHTER Will School You on Fighting Game Knowledge

i-am-street-fighter-will-school-you-on-fighting-game-knowledge-header.jpg

The legacy of Street Fighter is impressive. One of the first 2D fighting games, it evolved into arguably the largest fighting game franchise, with countless iterations of the game being made for both arcades and home consoles. I Am Street Fighter covers the tradition of Street Fighter from the first game made in 1987 up to the modern competition-based game it has become.

The documentary is decently well made and is definitely worth a watch, considering it was posted for free on YouTube. I just wish it was a little longer, because I feel there are some gaps in the story it tells. Regardless of some small flaws, anyone interested in video games, Street Fighter, or even just documentaries in general should find an hour to watch it.

I love the Transformers designs from the original animated series, and these comic cover illustrations created by Livio27 for Optimus Prime and Megatron are pretty badass. I like the hardcore grittiness he gives the characters.

A Haunted House That You Walk Through Naked?

a-haunted-house-where-you-walk-through-naked-header.jpg

Halloween is just around the corner and haunted houses, spook alleys, and attractions are popping up all over the place! Now there's one in Pennsylvania that is kind of upping the ante--people basically walk through it naked. I guess being naked is supposed to make things even scarier? It takes place at the "premier haunted scream park" during Shocktoberfest this fall. This just seems so odd... Here's the run down...

It's called The Naked and Scared Challenge. The haunted house still has the usual array of people jumping out to scare you . . . only now you're facing them without any clothes on.
The people behind the haunted house say you don't have to worry about a bunch of people staring at you naked . . . since it's completely dark in the haunted house and only people who are allowed in there with you are also naked as a jay bird. So you're running though the house with a bunch of other naked people you don't know in the dark... kinky.
The haunted house will open in a week. Nude tours will be after the park closes at midnight, but if you think nude is not the right option for you, they will let you walk through with your underwear on for the "prude" option earlier in the night. A fully clothed option is always available during normal business hours as well... STIFF security will be enabled so there won't be any funny business during the nude tour.

Would you ever walk through one of these Halloween mazes naked?

Paul Dano and Anton Yelchin up for WARCRAFT

Earlier today we reported Colin Farrell and Paula Patton might be in Duncan Jones' feature film adaptation of World of Warcraft. Now there are a few other names that have been added to the list of actors who could end up in the film. Those actors include Paul Dano (There Will be Blood, Prisoners), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), and Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels).

There's no official information on the story of the film, but it was previously rumored that the "film’s story is not an adaptation of World of Warcraft, and instead takes place around the events of the first couple of Warcraft games, ‘real time strategy’ classics of the mid-90s." To read up on more possible story and character details on the film, click here.

Jones is preparing to start shooting January 13th, 2014. We've got a long way to go before we see anything from this movie, but I can't wait to see more of what Jones' vision looks like!

One AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.LD. Episode Made Joss Whedon Cry

Joss Whedon has always been good at playing with his audience's emotions, and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.LD. will be no different in that aspect. In fact, even Whedon fell prey to his own devices. In a recent interview with Comic Book Therapy, Whedon admitted that he was brought to tears when he read an outline for an episode of his new superhero series.

"We're still sort of jockeying through the different stories, but I've already read at least one script, just in its outline form, actually made me tear up. We're just finding out who these guys are and just trying to mine that vein of how much they matter in this world where it seems like nobody but the heroes do."

He went on to talk more about emotions, saying the second episode of the series will focus on fear.

"We have just started shooting again. Now it really starts because the pilot was a ton of fun, but the real pressure is can they keep it up? Can they find that heart? Can they get the big, epic stuff going? Episode 2 is a lot more frightening than episode 1."

What's great about all of the shows Whedon has worked on is that they just get better and better as they go. I'm confident that the team working on this series is going to be able to deliver and keep up the awesomeness.

Two Posters for the Sci-Fi Film DIVERGENT

I've been hearing a lot of people rave about this Divergent book series recently, but I'll be honest, the stuff I've seen for the film isn't really grabbing me. But, they all seem to be excited for it. I'll be going in with low expectations, so there's a chence it could be better than what I'm expecting. It just looks way too much like The Hunger Games

The movie was directed by Neil Burger, and it stars Shailene Woodley,  Theo James, Kate Winslet, Ray Stevenson, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, and  Zoë Kravitz. The film comes out on March 21st, 2014, and here's the synopsis.

Based on Veronica Roth’s #1 New York Times best-selling novel, DIVERGENT is a gripping action thriller set in a futuristic world where society has been divided into five factions. As each person approaches adulthood, he or she must choose a faction and commit to it for the rest of their life. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) chooses Dauntless—the daring risk-takers who pursue bravery above all else. During the Dauntless initiation,Tris completes death-defying stunts and faces her inmost fears in spectacular simulations. When she discovers she is a Divergent, someone who will never be able to fit into just one faction, she is warned that she must conceal this secret or risk her life. As Tris uncovers a looming war which threatens her family and the life of the mysterious Dauntless leader whom she has come to love, Tris must face her greatest test yet—deciding whether revealing she is a Divergent will save her world—or destroy it.

Sony Pictures has released an intense new TV spot for Tom Hanks and Paul Greengrass' thriller Captain Phillips

Daniel Radcliffe Offered Role of Freddie Mercury?

daniel-radcliffe-photoshoot.jpg

A couple of months ago Sacha Baron Cohen dropped out of the Freddie Mercury biopic due to creative differences. Now it looks like producers and investors have set their sights on a new actor to take on the role, and that actor is Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe. I'll be honest, I would have never thought of Radcliffe, and it's still hard for me to see. The The Daily Star reports that the actor has been offered the role though, and their source claims,

"Daniel has been told the part is his if he wants it. Despite his youth, Daniel impressed movie bosses with his portrayal of gay poet Allen Ginsburg in this year’s movie Kill Your Darlings. Plus, he’s closer in height to Freddie than Sacha, who’s much taller. Daniel can really sing, too."

Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen) is writing the script which deals with the lead up to Queen's iconic performance at the Live Aid concert in 1985. David Fincher and
Les Miserables director Tom Hooper were both up to direct the project but neither of them are attached to it now.

What do you think of Radcliffe taking on the role of Freddie Mercury?

Jim Carrey tweeted the above photo, giving us our first real look at Jeff Daniels and him back in their roles as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne in Dumb and Dumber To. I love the look on their faces--it sure brings back some memories.

The image is also promoting his new children's book, "How Roland Rolls," which is being released in stores today, and the photo came with the following caption,

"How Roland Rolls comes out TODAY but it may be a little too sophisticated for Lloyd and Harry! Yep... THEY'RE BAAAAA…"

In an interview with E! , Daniels teased what we can expect to see in the sequel.

"The scariest thing? There are some things [that] we're going to do in 'Dumb and Dumber To' that make the toilet scene [in the original] seem lame. Pales in comparison and I can't divulge what, but just that they've topped it. [The] best thing about it? I get to work with a comedic genius."

I can't wait!

Here's a spectacular fan-made film based on the fantasy book series The Wheel of Time, written by Robert Jordan. This film is called Flight From Shadow, and "it chronicles the events in the 'Four Kings in Shadow' chapter from The Eye of the World, the first book of Robert Jordan's bestselling series." Here's a more detailed synopsis:

After narrowly escaping an ambush in the town of Whitebridge and walking for days on the Caemlyn Road, Rand al'Thor and his companion Matrim Cauthon seek rest and shelter in the Dancing Cart-Man Inn at the village of Four Kings. After bargaining for one night's room and board with Saml Hake, the duo soon discover that the servants of the Great Lord of the Dark are hot on their heels. Deceived by Hake and his henchmen, Rand and Mat find themselves trapped in a storeroom, forced to use the forbidden energy of the One Power for their very survival.

The movie was directed by David A. Skousen and the production value is pretty amazing. Everything in the movie was created and made by local volunteers. The actors and staff were not paid, and all props, costumes and sets, were donated by local companies. For behind the scenes photos visit Abbie Warnock photography.

Trailer for THE MOTEL LIFE Thriller with Emile Hirsch, Stephen Dorff, and Dakota Fanning

the_motel_life-620x918.jpg

This is the first interesting trailer for a new thriller called The Motel Life, which stars Emile Hirsch, Stephen Dorff, and Dakota Fanning. I like the tone and style of the film. There's a great animated element that was included in the story, and it will be interesting to see how it's actually integrated in the film. You'll get look at that animation in the trailer.

The story "explores the intense bond between two brothers living on the fringes of Reno, Nevada. They grew up depending on each other and their big imaginations to escape the challenges of their transient life. When one of the brothers is involved in a fatal accident, it forces both of them to choose between running or facing reality. It is a story of brotherhood, shared dreams and the redemptive power of hope."

The movie will hit theaters and VOD on November 8th, 2013. Watch the trailer and let us know if it looks like a movie you'll be checking out.

David S. Goyer Believes Superman Should Be Able to Kill

david-s-goyer-believes-superman-should-be-able-to-kill-header.jpg

A lot of die hard Superman fans weren't happy with the way Zack Snyder and David Goyer ended Man of Steel because of his controversial killing of Zod and countless innocent people while destroying the city in the epic fight with the villain. Digital Spy reports that during a recent BATFA and BFI Screenwriters' Lecture, Goyer said that Superman should be able to kill. Here's the full quote,

"We were pretty sure that was going to be controversial. It's not like we were deluding ourselves, and we weren't just doing it to be cool. We felt, in the case of Zod, we wanted to put the character in an impossible situation and make an impossible choice.
This is one area, and I've written comic books as well and this is where I disagree with some of my fellow comic book writers - 'Superman doesn't kill'. It's a rule that exists outside of the narrative and I just don't believe in rules like that. I believe when you're writing film or television, you can't rely on a crutch or rule that exists outside of the narrative of the film.
So the situation was, Zod says 'I'm not going to stop until you kill me or I kill you.' The reality is no prison on the planet could hold him and in our film Superman can't fly to the moon, and we didn't want to come up with that crutch.
Also our movie was in a way Superman Begins, he's not really Superman until the end of the film. We wanted him to have had that experience of having taken a life and carry that through onto the next films.
