The CW Casts Their FLASH for New Series

Glee star Grant Gustin has been cast as The Flash in the upcoming series that the CW is developing. The Flash, a.k.a. Barry Allen, will be introduced in Arrow before the actual series takes off. He will appear in 3 episodes of Arrow. According to THR, it will be episodes eight, nine, and twenty, "the latter of which will serve as the backdoor pilot for a potential spinoff Flash series."

The spin-off series is being developed by Arrow co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, as well as director David Nutter. Berlanti, Kreisberg, and DC Entertainment's Geoff Johns will write the script for the series.

These guys have all done a great job with Arrow, and I hope they can find a way to make Flash cool, because I personally think Flash is one of the lamest superheroes out there.

Michael Shannon Cast in Andrew Garfield's Drama 99 HOMES

Michael Shannon (Man of Steel) will star alongside Andrew Garfield (Amazing Spider-Man) in the upcoming drama, 99 Homes. The movie comes from Ramin Bahrani and follows a man, played by Garfield, "who loses his home to foreclosure. Desperate, he eventually finds work with the manipulative real estate broker who took his house. Shannon will play the broker, who profits from Garfield’ misery and entices him into schemes to embezzle money from the government."

Shannon sure does love playing these shady characters! He's great at it though, and he's got that look. It will be interesting to see these two actors work together in a film.

New Footage from CARRIE in the Featurette "Don't Go To Prom"

I won't lie, prom wasn't really the best experience for me. When I look back at it, it was kind of sad, but at least it didn't involve a girl with telekinetic powers killing everyone! Ya just have to think of all the positive things.

A new featurette for the new big screen adaptation of Stephen King's classic horror story Carrie has been released. It focuses on the epically deadly prom scene, and it includes a lot of new footage.

The movie was directed by Kimberley Peirce and stars Chloe Moretz, Julianne Moore, Judy Greer, and Portia Doubleday. It hits theaters October 18th, 2013.

If you enjoy cosplay, you're going to want to check out this great video from Dragon-Con 2013 created by Beat Down Boogie, who says,

"A huge thanks to everyone who was so generous and nice to us at DragonCon. A lot of our crew were feeling rough due to a big film shoot right before D-Con, but you all helped make the weekend an interesting enjoyable odyssey for us. There will be more videos to come!"

It looks like a lot of great cosplayers came out to show their stuff!

DAREDEVIL - Everything Wrong in 8 Minutes or Less

In honor of Ben Affleck being cast as Batman in Batman Vs. Superman, the guys over at Cinema Sins have created another one of their "Everything Wrong" videos, and this one focuses on one of the many Ben Affleck films that everyone loved to hate... Daredevil. It's as bad as I remember, but I still think Affleck is going to end up being a solid Batman.

Since the news of Ben Affleck's casting as Batman in the next Man of Steel film, we've been bombarded with requests to take a look at his last foray into superhero territory: Daredevil. So in order to shut those people up, we did it. (Also... this video took forever to process... it pissed us off).

Here's a fun little viral video from Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues that features Ron Burgundy reporting on the Goodwood Revival.

For those of you not familiar with the Goodwood Revival, it's "a three-day festival held each September at Goodwood Circuit and includes different types of road racing cars and motorcycle that would have competed during the circuit's original period—1948–1966. It is one of the world's most popular motor race meetings and the only UK event which recreates the golden era of motor sport from the 1950s and 1960s."

Of course, Ron Burgundy has no idea what it is, and to be honest, neither did I until I looked it up!

The movie comes out on December 20th.

Fast and Furious 7 8192013.jpg

As you know, Vin Diesel enjoys sharing sharing photos and info from the films that he's working on, and over the weekend he gave us our first look at Justin Lin's Fast and Furious 7. The photo above came along with the following caption:

"The unknown road ahead... P.s. One from the set."

The photo below came the following note,

"Seven... Has begun..."

The story brings the gang back to Los Angeles, and it also stars Paul Walker, Jason Statham, Dwayne JohnsonTony Jaa, and the rest of the usual suspects. The movie will be released on July 11th, 2014.

I loved the last movie, and with Lin behind the sequel, I'm convinced that seven could end up being the best film in the franchise.

It may be little grim, but it's entertaining! The movie was directed and animated by Louis Hudson for Dice Productions, and I hope you enjoy it!

The fourth episode Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.LD is currently shooting in Stockholm, and a set of very interesting set photos have hit the internet. They feature a group of people in suits wearing red masks and hats. I have no idea what this is all about, but it's definitely intriguing. There is speculation that these guys could be Flag Smasher's terrorist army, Ultimatum. Check out the photos and let us know what you think this could be!

Full Trailer for the Live-Action Version of The TIGER MASK Anime

Here's the full trailer for the live-action adaptation of the 1960s anime and manga classic, Tiger Mask. The character was created by Ikki Kajiwara, and the story centers on a wrestling hero who fights evil to protect the children of an orphanage.

The film stars Eiji Wentz (Brave Story) as the hero, Natsuna Watanabe (Gantz, Kimi ni Todoke) as the heroine, Ruriko and Show Aikawa (Zebraman) as Mister X. Here's a little more information on the film and its story, thanks to Anime News Network:

"Tiger Mask" is the alter ego of the character Naoto Date, a pro wrestler who goes against an evil wrestling organization and fights for children in an orphanage. In the new setup for the film, Date dons a special suit and "transforms" into Tiger Mask with enhanced mobility and muscle strength. His mask has also been redesigned with a nod to American comic action heroes such as Spider-Man and Batman.

As an origin story for children who have never read the manga, the film will devote about one-third of its screen time to Date's roots in the evil wrestling training organization Tora no Ana (before he turned his back on the organization). Wentz acknowledged that he himself had not read the original manga at first, and added that the film is creating a new Tiger Mask with a new Naoto Date.

The film is set to open in Japan in November 2013, and I'm sure it will eventually find its way here to the states. It looks like a fun movie to watch.

Will James Wan Direct INSIDIOUS 3 or Is He Done with Horror?

$

James-Wan.jpg

I don't know why, but a lot of the reviews I've seen for Insidious: Chapter 2 haven't been too kind. I personally loved the movie, and I consider it one of the best sequels that has been made. I can't wait to see what is being planned for Insidious: Chapter 3! They set it up at the end of chapter 2, but it looks like a third film isn't set in stone yet. Even if they do move forward with another movie, it's looking like director James Wan isn't interested in coming back to direct, which would be a damn shame.

Producer Jason Blum did a couple of interviews that shed some light on the subject. Cinemablend asked about a third film, and if he and Wan had a plan. This was his response,

"I would love to make a third film, but James and Leigh will not hear of it until this movie comes out. So, I’d be thrilled to make a third movie, but there is no current plan to make a third movie at all. Only in my head!"

Insidious: Chapter 2 had a great opening this weekend, pulling in over $41 million, which is way more than the $28 million the first film made in its opening weekend. Is that good enough for Wan to want to come back to make another one? Maybe not. Back in July the director gave an interview with Moviefone in which he said,

“I’m going to go on record and say I am finished with the horror genre. Conjuring and Insidious 2 are my two last scary movies.
Say it ain't so, Wan! Say it ain't so! I would hate it if he gave up horror movies completely. Look, I can understand him wanting to work in different film genres, and I think he should! He goes on to explain,

"I spent the last ten years of my life doing this. It’s time for a change, for goodness sake!...Hollywood puts you in a box. If you do a successful comedy, then you’re known as The Comedy Guy. If you do a successful car chase movie, then you become that guy. So I’m a student of cinema, so I just want to make sure I get the chance to make other kinds of films.”

I can understand that. He's insanely talented, and I think he'll end up giving us some incredible movies over the years, but he shouldn't give up on the horror genre. I love horror movies, and he's giving us the best ones right now. If he stops making them, were going to be left with a bunch of lazy, mediocre horror films.

Hopefully he won't give up on it completely, but if he does, I'm sure going to miss him.

What do you think about a potential Insidious: Chapter 3 or Wan not wanting to make horror movies anymore?

LEAGUE OF LEGENDS 2013 World Championships Begin

$

The largest eSports event of the year, if not of all time, kicked off this Sunday. The 2013 League of Legends World Championship, the pinnacle League of Legends tournament, began on September 15th and will run all the way until October 4th.

ticketMarquee.jpg

The World Championship consists of 14 teams from North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, China, and Lithuania (filling the International Wildcard slot) competing for a $1 million grand prize. This is one of the largest eSports grand prizes in history, matching the $1 million prize from the last season League of Legends world champs.

The events are taking place in multiple locations around Los Angeles, so the North American teams definitely have a home court advantage, but the tournament organizers have done their best to try to even the playing field.

The first 6 days consist of two groups of double round robin, each member of each group will play each other twice with the top 2 teams from each group advancing to the semifinals. This means that each team gets to play at least eight matches before getting eliminated from the tournament, so hopefully there will be enough game time for the foreign teams to acclimate to playing in North America and be on the top of their game.

League-of-legends-logo.jpg

If you have free time over the next two weeks, I would highly recommend tuning in. eSports have been spiking in popularity over the last couple of years and have been gaining the credibility of a “real” sport. The US has begun rewarding “Athlete” visas to eSports players coming to the United States for tournaments and as more money has come into the picture, an increasing number of players have been able to become professional and play their chosen games full time. Even if you don't play League of Legends, it is still worth your time. Watching these teams--some of the best in the world--compete is fascinating because of just how good they are at this game. Observing masters at their trade is always captivating, and this tournament is no exception.

regional_header_WORLD.jpg

Day One recap:

Day One was intense and incredibly fun to watch. While there was only one upset, it is hilariously fun to watch really good teams play each other. China’s Team OMG has a brutally offensive play style which results in highly bloody, and highly entertaining, games. Gaming Gear from Lithuania and Team Mineski from Southeast Asia both ended the day with zero wins and two loses. I am worried about Gaming Gear’s presence in this Tournament since they went against arguably one of the weakest teams from group A today and still didn't manage to eke out a victory. Mineski’s schedule is hardly any easier, but they still have a chance to go against Team Vulcun, a highly regarded team, but definitely not the strongest of the group. With five days left to go in the Group round, there are still plenty of matches to be played and anything can still happen.

AMC Developing a WALKING DEAD Companion Series!

Fans of The Walking Dead will be excited to hear that AMC is set to develop a companion series for The Walking Dead. The new series will take place in the same universe as The Walking Dead, but there are no details on what the story will be. Robert Kirkman is developing the series with Gale Anne Hurd, and this is what he had to say in a statement,

"After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn't be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of 'The Walking Dead' universe. The opportunity to make a show that isn't tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing."

AMC president and general manager, Charlie Collier, went on to say,

"Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer. We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse."

The network is planning to release the companion series in 2015, and I'm sure it will be just as amazing as The Walking Dead. I'm excited to see what they have planned!

5 Things You Might Have Missed in Last Night's BREAKING BAD

$

Fans have unanimously declared last night's episode of Breaking Bad to be one of the greatest episodes of the series ever. Taking to the internet this morning I found some things in the episode that I completely missed last night that are worth mentioning.

Goes without saying that if you didn't watch last night this is a SPOILER!

SPOILERS!

5. Everyone Falls To Their Knees  At Their Most Devastating Moment

Credit IceAgeMikey2

Walt falls at the death of Hank. Marie falls learning that Hank is dead. Skylar falls when Walt kidnaps Holly. Is this significant? Probably not, but it's pretty damn cool and seems as though it was intentional throughout the filming of the episode to have that happen.

4. Everything Is BULLSHIT For Walt Jr.

FGghA1c.jpg

Credit Thereminz

Walt Jr. finally gets it laid out for him and of course it's "BULLSHIT!" I swear that's his reaction to everything. I was kind of expecting a more sympathetic reaction from "Flynn" to be honest. He usually sides with Walt in all conflicts between him and Skylar, so it was a real turning point to see the boy for once side with his mother.

3. Hey It's Walt's Pants!

7ysoP3E.jpg

The image of Walt  in the green shirt and white underwear will forever be iconic to the show, and in last nights episode they casually snuck Walt's pants back into the desert scene. Also points to the fact that Walt might have chosen the spot where he and Jesse had their first cook in the RV.

2.  Walt And Gus Crying Side By Side Comparison

Jxu7kFt.png

Credit Ogkushog

It's really hard to compare Gustavo Fring to Walter White, but perhaps putting these two scenes together show that Gus was once like Walt way back when. While the other shots indeed seemed intentional, I think this one is just an odd coincidence or perhaps popular camera shot. It's a bit of a stretch to draw a connection here, but still cool.

1. Walt Clears Skylar Of All Charges.

Although most of us only heard the line above, Reddit user CedarPride, I believe, hit the nail on the head with the point of this phone call.

Notice the language he uses- "you were always begging me to stop, telling me its illegal, immoral, someone could get hurt" etc, "I warned you what would happen if you crossed me", "Oh what am I saying, you never had anything to do with it, this was me, it was all me". Of course he presents it in a manner that is made to seem him like a piece of utter shit, and in many ways he is, but this was a truly selfless act to defend his family. Walt destroying the phone demonstrates he knew police were there, and solidifies my views.

Good catch man! This renews my hope that Walt indeed has a plan as opposed to just running away with his tail between his legs...wait a second, what was that dog doing at the end of the episode?! Anything else we missed? Discuss it below or in our forums!

Jackman on X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and Wolverine's Relationship with Magneto

While promoting his new film, Prisoners, at the Toronto Film Festival, Hugh Jackman talked more about his excitement for X-Men: Days of Future Past, and teased Wolverine's relationship with Michael Fassbender's Young Magneto. When talking to The Daily Beast about the movie, this is what he said,

"I think some people are saying, 'Ah, this just sounds like an excuse to get all these actors together and make an Avengers-style movie,' but the truth is that it’s a great script and Bryan is very ambitious to make the best movie of them all. He’s got the biggest cast, the biggest budget, and he started it all, so it’s his legacy. He’s a fan of time-travel movies, and the detail that’s gone into it is incredible. I’m quietly confident that it will be the biggest and the best of them all. When I sat there on that panel at Comic-Con, and looked down at all the actors, you think, “This might be one of the best ensembles ever assembled”… Apart from Movie 43. [Laughs]"

As for Wolverine's relationship with with young Magneto, he said,

"It’s fair to say we don’t get on that well. I get sent back to the past, and he has no idea who I am, but you can imagine Wolverine has a bit of fun with that."

After having seen the footage from X-Men: Days of Future Past, I'm convinced that this movie will be the best X-Men film yet.

The wolf makes a deal with the boy for his survival. The question is, will the boy live up to his end of the bargain? You'll have to watch to find out.

The short was directed by Jeff Le Bars, the animation and designs were beautiful, and I enjoyed the story. It all leads to a very surprising outcome that is appropriately perfect for the story. I hope you like it!
