Concept Art for Disney's Animated Comedy WRECK-IT RALPH

Disney has released the first official concept images from their upcoming 3D CGI comedy Wreck-It Ralph. The film is a comedy adventure that is being directed by Rich Moore (The Simpsons) and will feature the voices of John C. ReillySarah SilvermanJack McBrayer, and Jane Lynch.

The story follows an old school arcade style bad guy named Ralph, who is a 9 feet tall, 640 pound character that lives in a pile of garbage. His job in the video game is to destroy cities that will only to be built back up again by the good guy with a magic hammer named Felix. Ralph is jealous of all the attention that Felix gets because he is the hero. Ralph goes on an adventure around the arcade he lives in, jumping from game to game looking for a way to prove that he can be a good guy and a hero. Of course, he just doesn't fit in with any of the games. Ralph isn’t content with his fate of being a villain. Some of the games he jumps in on are a Halo type video game and a game called Sugar Rush, which poses a threat to the arcade in which Ralph resides.

In a previous statement, the director said,

I love the idea of a very simple 8-bit video game character struggling with the complex question: ‘isn't there more to life than the role I've been assigned?’ In his quest for the answer, we journey with our hero through three visually distinct video game worlds. It's unlike anything anyone's seen before, and I'm thrilled to be to creating it here at Walt Disney Animation Studios.

I got to see some unfinished footage of the film at D23 last year, and this looks like it's going to be a very fun and entertaining movie. Check out the concept art, and tell us what you think!

Here's the official story synopsis:

Wreck-It Ralph (Reilly) longs to be as beloved as his game’s perfect Good GuyFix-It Felix (McBrayer). Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes… so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan—win a medal—but soon wrecks everything, and accidently unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph’s only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (Silverman), a young troublemaking “glitch” from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy. But will he realize he is good enough to become a hero before it’s “Game Over” for the entire arcade?

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN - Description of New Trailer and Extended Footage

Sony Pictures recently held an event in which 6-minutes of footage from Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man screened. It seems like a lot of people are torn about this movie because Sam Raimi's vision is still fresh in everyone's minds. I'm actually incredibly excited for the movie and think Webb is a talented director that will bring audiences and fans something incredibly cool, new, and fresh.

I would have loved to see this footage for myself, but it just wasn't in the cards for me. So we have to go off of what other people have said about it, and live it through their words and descriptions. Having already read through them, the movie sounds like it will be pretty damn awesome. I was sold on the film early on, though. As a fan of Spider-Man I was excited to see another movie made through some fresh new talent.

Read everything over and tell us what you think!

First up we have a description from Omelete

The six minutes of scenes that we've watched this weekend showed a really different Spidey from the first grade. The idea seems to show how Peter Parker already had a hero soul before having his powers: the first scene shows how he became enemy of the school bully, Flash Thompson: the bully is rubbing the face of a skinny boy in his food, when he sees Peter and says "take a picture of this, Parker!". Peter refuses and asks Flash that let his coleague go - just to become the target of a violent fight.

The next scene goes forward on time - when Peter seems to already have his powers - and shows him getting revenge on Flash, holding him by his shirt collar and acting in a similar manner as the bully, what gives him a visit to the the principal's office. Comes in scene the always wise - and fun - Uncle Ben(Martin Sheen). "Your bad behavior made me lose a day of work. What did I told you about power and responsability?", he argues with his nephew in the middle of the empty school. But Gwen Stacy(Emma Stone) comes. Satisfied with the scolding, Uncle Ben decides to mock him: "hey, isn't that the girl I saw on your computer? HEY! You're on his computer!", says with a smile, before leaving. Then a sequence that looks straight from (500) Days of Summer comes up, with Peter and Gwen flirting in an absolutely fun way, saying things that makes absolutely no sense. Stone is amazing as Gwen Stacy... looks like the character version of John Romita(senior) - and moves exactly like I imagined that Romita's Gwen would move.

Andrew Garfield Parker seems more serious, but his Spider-Man is exactly like in the comics. The action scenes ended the clip and showed him finding out about his powers, agile and making jokes all the time. Lot of the scenes were not finalized, showing the actor being trown in the air with cables and landing. The final sequences had Doctor Curt Connors(Rhys Ifans) and his arrogance, taking advantage of Peter knowledge(which appears in several scenes as the science genius he is on the comics, including working with his web-shoters and costume) to finalize his formula to grow a new arm. It doesn't take too long to see the Lizard, resulting from this experience, appearing in brief scenes(he is extremaly like the toy photos that have been around.)

This second description/review comes from Comic Book Movie:

There was a lot going on in the action packed teaser and while I can't remember the specific order or every single little snippet shown, I will do my best to describe the highlights to you. Surprisingly, there is no clear shot of the Lizard. We do see a close up of his eye and claws - both of which were incredibly deailed and looked fantasic - as well as several other action shots featuring the villain taking on Spider-Man in various locations (not to mention a very cool scene of his tail wrapping around the hero's neck in what appeared to be a sewer). However, this is arguably no bad thing, especially with another six months until the movie is released...we don't want to be spoiled with too much after all. What it lacked in Lizard, it more than made up for in Spider-Man. There are a lot of webswinging shots which really pop off the screen in 3D and the mix of practical and CGI is blended seamlessly. The "money shot" can be seen at the end of the trailer as the top of what appears to be the Oscorp building starts to collapse as an unmasked Spider-Man runs for cover after battling the Lizard up there too from what we saw of their confrontation. The scene shown at last year's San Diego Comic Con of Peter waiting in the back of a thugs car was shown, and yes, he does have the black eyes at this point (however, it would appear this was due to the lighting rather than any other specific reason, although I have a feeling this WILL be elaborated upon in the film itself). There are plenty of wisecracks and the mask actually moves when he speaks - thankfully eliminating the extremely false sounding moments in the past films where the audio was quite clearly dubbed over. This was a really fun sequence which really separates it from the Sam Raimi's helmed movies. You wanted a faithful take on the character? Well, this lifelong fan of the character would say that THIS is it. There's some quieter scenes too, including Peter finding his father's old bag, hunting down Curt Connors and finding his way to Gwen's apartment by landing on the fire escape outside. The dinner with the Stacy's first glimpsed in the teaser trailer sees Peter suggest that the menace Spider-Man is doing what he police can't, something that doesn't sit well with Captain Satcy who we later see declaring him an outlaw. All in all the 3D was, well, amazing. There were no POV shots, but there WERE plenty of other scenes which convinced me that it will be worth forking out the extra few pounds for a 3D ticket. Even the regular scenes in the Parker household really pop and while it may be too early to say this, I honestly can't recall seeing better 3D footage since Avatar back in 2009...this was better! One other thing which really grabbed my attention was Peter building his wshooters and then activating them, resulting in a blue light which also flashed as they're used - it works brilliantly.

As if it couldn't get any better, Marc Webb then revealed that he had one more surprise for those lucky enough to be in attendance. A reel of footage (in 2D due to the fact that they're stil working on it) which would feature a handful of unfinished scenes, but plenty of other never before seen moments too. It played very much like a trailer and started with Flash Thompson beating up a kid and telling Peter to take a photo of it. He refuses and receives a beating for his troubles (to which he has a witty comeback - "I'm still not taking that picture"). The next scene was the one shown at last year's San Diego Comic Con, an exchange between Peter, Uncle Ben and Gwen in which the chemistry between the three in their respective scenes eith one another is clear. We also saw an extended version of the scene in the car, this time featuring Spider-Man getting on his knees and begging the thug not to use his knife on him. What happens next? He uses his webbing to make a fool of the guy, pretending to sneeze at one point and throwing it like a baseball only seconds later. This was very, very funny and while some fans may think this sounds as if Peter is being portrayed as arrogant while in costume, i assure you hat it doesn't come across that way. A motorcycle cop pulls up behind him as the scene moved on and he fires off a couple of shots before Spidey dodges them with ease and jumps over him. We also see Peter testing his powers out in an abandoned warehouse, struggling at first and later perfecting them as he skateboards through the city. There were a lot of negative comments from fans when Garfield was spotted with a board but it works very well here and is a fun way of showing off his new powers. This footage also confirmed that it is Captain Stacy who unmasks Spider-Man (part of this IS shown in the trailer but it isnt quite so clear) and that he is handcuffed when it happens. Moments before a helicopter shoots something which seemingly immobilises him, thereby allowing this to happen. He escapes, fighting off the police despite literally having both hands tied behind his back. Later on, a confrontation between Spider-Man and the Lizard reveals via voiceover that Peter may have helped create him by assisting Connors with the experiment to regain his arm (removed convincingly by CGI and then growing back again). One of the unfinsihed sequences saw the Lizard attack Van Atter's car, only to be thrawted by Spider-Man who saves several of the vehicles from being throwfront the bridge. It was at this later point in the reel of footage that we were shown a facial shot of the Lizard as he climbed up the top of a building in pursuit of Spider-Man and he looks EXACTLY like the Pez dispensers, concept art and various toys we've seen. Whether he had a snout wasn't clear (more on that below) but it looked to me like a regular humanoid face and not the animalistic version associated with artists such as Todd McFarlane.

Next up is a description from Comingsoon:

Before they got to questions, they showed the new 3D trailer, which begins with an amazing helicopter shot of New York City in 3D and we see Spider-Man swinging up onto a fire escape and landing outside Gwen Stacy's window and she asked him how he got there, because they're twenty stories up. It then shows a scene of Peter looking at a valise that his uncle Ben says belonged to his father and his Aunt May (Sally Field, looking very young compared to previous incarnations) tells him his father was a very secretive man. Peter then goes to see Dr. Curt Connors and we see a bit of his transformation into the Lizard, as well as a scene of Spider-Man stopping a car thief. As he breaks into a car, Spider-Man is sitting in the back seat and he makes a joke that if he's going to steal cars, not to dress like a car thief. When the thief asks if he's a cop, Spidey retorts, "You seriously think I'm a cop? In a skintight red and blue suit?" (We'll see more of this scene later as well.) A lot of the trailer shows how Gwen's father Captain Stacy, played by Dennis Leary, is trying to get Spider-Man, sort of making him a secondary antagonist, as he puts a warrant out for Spider-Man's arrest. (Later, we'll also get to see some idea why Stacy is so against Spider-Man.)

We didn't get to see that much of the Lizard in the trailer, just snippets to give us some idea of how CG is being used to create him, but Peter states he has to stop The Lizard "because he created him." The trailer ends with a scene of Spider-Man trying to escape as a giant radio antenna at the top of a building comes crashing down. The tagline for the new trailer of course is "The Untold Story Begins," driving home the point this is a relaunch in the Batman Begins vein.

The real fun came with the extended sizzle reel, which expanded on many of the scenes we saw in that new trailer and gave us a much clearer idea of what to expect from the movie, showing a good mix of drama, action, story, characters… everything really. This wasn't just a quick glimpse of footage but instead was made up of full never-before-seen scenes shown in what seems like a logical chronological order to give us a good idea of the film's story structure.

The footage began at Parker's school, "Midtown Science High School," as Parker sees Flash Thompson torturing a smaller kid in the playground and he tells Peter to take a picture, but when he refuses, Flash pushes him to the ground and starts beating on him, but Peter says he's still not taking the picture. When asked about it, Peter says he fell off his skateboard, and we see more bullying of Peter at school before he lashes out and slams Flash into lockers. We then see him being reprimanded by Uncle Ben for fighting, and when his uncle sees Gwen standing in the background, he embarrasses his nephew by asking if that's the girl he has on his computer and says he's Peter's probation officer. Embarassed, Peter has an awkward conversation with Gwen that gives us a good sense of the dynamics between them as well as the strong dialogue we can expected. He ultimately ends up asking her out as the Coldplay ballad "Til Kingdom Come" starts playing in the background and they go their separate ways.

This then transitions into a black and white flashback of Peter as a young boy with his parents (including Campbell Scott as his father Richard), then we get a little more of the scene from the trailer where Peter finds his father's valise and his father says he asked them to keep it safe for them. In the extended footage, we see the contents of the valise which includes a picture of his father with Curt Connors, and we then get a much better introduction to Ifans as Connors, who talks about the fact that he's missing his right arm, saying he's a scientist and the "foremost authority on reptiles," and that he is hoping to fix himself.

Blastr featured a funny video from across the pond where The Graham Norton Show tried to keep the ongoing Star Wars vs. Star Trek feud alive with a "toy showdown!" Patrick Stewart and Liam Neeson were both in attendance to defend their respective action figures, but midway through the video it's clear who the winner is.

HARRY POTTER - A Video Tribute to the Magic

Have you been feeling a lack of Harry Potter awesomeness in your life since the film franchise ended? Well, here's a video tribute to lift your spirits and remind you of why you enjoyed watching Harry all these years. The the epic 15-minute tribute video was created by YouTube user , and it's called Harry Potter - A Tribute to the Magic. He really did a great job putting this together, and it is most certainly a labor of love for the epic fantasy series. He used images and scenes from the entire film franchise. 15 minutes might be a little long, but for any Potter fan it's worth watching. It could even get a little emotional for some of you.

Here's a note from the tribute's creator:

Well...here it is. After both mentally conceptualizing and physically working on it for so long, it feels great to finally have it finished and out there for fellow fans to see. And rest assured, that is indeed what this is all about. This is 100%, through and through, a video by a fan, for the fans. One can only hope that we are all able to come together and reminisce, appreciate, and above all, celebrate the monumental achievements of the Harry Potter series.

As one will be able to tell, this doesn't really fit the typical "AMV style" of such projects. While I definitely considered going that route, I really wanted to work in plot, sequentiality, structure, and select pieces from all 8 scores. As such, I felt that this "narrative" approach was the best way to go about accomplishing all of these tasks. As mentioned in the first teaser, we really do follow a "prologue -- movies 1 - 8 -- epilogue" format here.

Creating this tribute was easily one of the most simultaneously rewarding and draining things I've ever done. Most of the time, it absolutely killed me to not be able to include specific bits and moments in it. I'm sure such choices will be polarizing (believe me, I sympathize - some of my favorite moments had to be scrapped as well), but I was working towards creating somewhat of a narrative flow that established fans could follow, and as a result, omissions were necessary. Of course, one also has to consider the ridiculousness of trying to cram over 16 hours of footage into 15, coherent minutes. This was my personal justification... ;)

I feel no shame in admitting that tears, both happy and sad, were shed during the making of this tribute. This series, both books and films, has captured me in a way that I'm sure many others have felt as well, and as such, I sincerely hope that all Harry Potter fans out there enjoy watching it just as much as I did making it.

To sum up this very long description, I'd just like to thank the exceptional team that has been behind bringing Harry Potter to the big screen, and dedicate this video to all involved in the decade-long production. And to reiterate, this tribute is also dedicated to all fans of the series. It is via our admiration that the magic will forever live on...

Watch the video below, and tell us what you think! Enjoy!

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN - New Badass 2012 Trailer

Sony Pictures has just released the new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man. Marc Webb directed the film that stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field.

I was blown away by the first trailer and the footage that was shown at Comic-Con this year. This new trailer is simply epic, and I am sold on the film. Garfield's heartfelt speech was impressive at SDCC, but this proves that he was meant to play the role of Spidey. Webb's version looks as though it will blow Sam Raimi's versions away!

Watch the new trailer, and share your thoughts.

Teaser Trailer from July 2011:

Here's the synopsis:

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets.

As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The movie is set to be released on July 3rd, 2012.

WRATH OF THE TITANS - Character Movie Posters

I'm actually kind of surprised by all the positivity surrounding Wrath of the Titans, the sequel to the Clash of the Titans remake. I can see why people could be excited about it, but like the first film, the trailer looks deceptively cool. It would be awesome if the sequel ended up actually being as good and badass as it looks. What are your thoughts on this sequel?

The film was directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Battle LA) and stars Sam Worthington, Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, Danny Huston, Edgar Ramiez, Bill Nighy, Toby Kebbell, and Rosamund Pike.

Here's the full synopsis:

A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus (Worthington) --the demigod son of Zeus (Neeson)--is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity's lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades (Fiennes) and Poseidon (Danny Huston). The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld. Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus' godly son, Ares (Edgar Ramirez), switch loyalties and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans' strength grows stronger as Zeus' remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon's demigod son, Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.

The film hits theaters March 20th 2012!

THE PIRATES! BAND OF MISFITS Debuts New Poster

Here is a new poster for Sony Pictures Animation's upcoming The Pirates! Band of Misfits. The film is from the same team that did Chicken Run and features the voices of Hugh Grant, Martin Freeman, Brendan Gleeson, Russel Tovey, Ashley Jensen, Jeremy Piven, and Salma Hayek. The film is set for release on April 27th in the US.

Here is the description:

The Pirates! stars Hugh Grant as the luxuriantly bearded Pirate Captain – a boundlessly enthusiastic, if somewhat less-than-successful, terror of the High Seas. With a rag-tag crew at his side (Martin Freeman, Brendan Gleeson, Russell Tovey, and Ashley Jensen), and seemingly blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek) to the much coveted Pirate Of The Year Award. It's a quest that takes our heroes from the shores of exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London. Along the way they battle a diabolical queen (Imelda Staunton) and team up with a haplessly smitten young scientist (David Tennant), but never lose sight of what a pirate loves best: adventure!

The voice cast seems kind of random, but I think it will be good. I never really liked Chicken Run, but this looks like more fun. Watch the trailer, and share your thoughts.

While I saw neither cradle nor fall, the film was shot well and will be appreciated by fans of this genre...although they probably could've done without the rage line a la the Hulk at the end. Johnny Depp Options Memoir By West Memphis Three’s Damien Echols

As of right now there are four documentaries about the West Memphis 3 and a movie in development called The Devil's Knott. Now Johnny Depp, who's been a huge supporter or the WM3, and his production company Infinitum Nihil has optioned the rights to Damien Echols upcoming memoir, "which reveals his experiences on death row after his wrongful conviction and subsequent wrongful 18-year imprisonment for the 1993 murder of three 8-year-old boys in West Memphis, Arkansas." The book is set to be released in September of 2012.

For those of you not familiar with the story, back in 1993, Damien Echols, 36, Jason Baldwin, 34, and Jessie Misskelley, 36 were wrongly convicted for the May 1993 killings of three 8-year-old boys from West Memphis, Arkansas. At the time it was believed that the boys were killed as part of a satanic ritual. Last year, they were released from prison with the help of several supporters including Depp and Peter Jackson, who helped fund the private investigation that led to their freedom.

Is this a story you've been following? If so, what are your thoughts on the documentaries that have been made and the movies that are going into production?

James Cameron Needs Custom-made Submarine Before Shooting AVATAR Sequels

$

It's no secret that James Cameron is looking to take the Avatar sequels to a whole new level by taking us to an underwater world of glory. The last we heard, producer Jon Landau said we are about four years away from seeing a new Avatar film. Why? you ask, because of technology. Once again, Cameron needs to create new advanced 3D tech that will be used for the CG and performance capture and will also have a higher frame rate. That, and of course Cameron needs a specially built submarine for research. Wait, what?

I was under the impression that Cameron took ocean bottom vacations every weekend. The news comes from Sigourney Weever who recently stated that her character in the first film will be back regardless of the fact that she died. She did an interview with Bad Taste, and here's how google translated what she said,

I read early versions of the script, but I can not say anything else James Cameron comes here and kills me. I can say that I’ll be in both, we will turn them one after another and explore worlds that were not touched in the first episode. [...] What is certain is that Cameron will begin filming in the new Avatar only after going underwater in a submarine that will build special purpose. I think it should go up to the Mariana Trench. Having put his hand on the Titanic for the 3D version has given him many ideas for narrative.

Here's a more clearer translation that was found over on /Film,

Cameron will only begin filming the new Avatars after having gone underwater in a specially built submarine. It is thought that he would like to go to the Mariana Trench. Re-beginning work on Titanic for the 3D version has also given him many inspirations for Avatar.

Cameron used submarines to film his movies Titanic, Ghosts of the Abyss, and Aliens of the Deep. But according to this statement from Weaver, the director/adventurer is looking to go down in something a little more advanced and built to his specifications.

It was also reported that Cameron will be moving to New Zealand in Peter Jackson's neck of the woods. There's no doubt that he'll be filming his next two Avatar sequels there and hanging out with Jackson. It would be awesome to see these two collaborate on something epically glorious somewhere down the line.

Cameron's one of the few directors that can do whatever the hell he wants to do for the movies he makes. If he wants a custom-made submarine for his next movie then he'll get it. What do you think about all this?

Director John Hillcoat Finds Financing for Cop Drama TRIPLE NINE

Director John Hillcoat (The Road) has found financing for his cop drama Triple Nine. The Playlist reports that Annapurna Pictures is financing the film. At one time, the project was thought to be abandoned by Hillcoat, but Annapurna's website lists the film as being in “pre-production” alongside a picture of Hillcoat.

The director was first attached to the project scripted by Matt Cook in 2010. At the time, Shia LaBeouf was attached to star, and the Transformers actor is also starring in Hillcoat's The Wettest County In The World. Last year, LaBeouf spoke highly of working with Hillcoat in an interview with the LA Times:

‘Wettest’ is the first time [my pr and management even asked me what kind of movie I wanted to make]. I’ve been running for a team of people for a long time and I don’t take any of it back…I’ve learned a great deal about a certain type of filmmaking. But I have ambitions toward another type of filmmaking that I haven’t been allowed to engage in yet.

LaBeouf recently signed on to star in The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman, so he may be doing more indies. LaBeouf could still be attached to star in Triple Nine. We will keep you posted on casting as it is announced. Chris Pine and Jeff Bridges were both previously attached to star but never officially signed on.

According to The Playlist, Triple Nine is a Training Day-like L.A. cop flick. The story "centers on a group of crooked L.A. police officers who realize they must shoot one of their own in order to get away with planning a major heist. They choose as their victim, the script’s lead character, a rookie and honorable young officer. Triple nine is the police code that signifies that an officer is down and needs urgent and immediate assistance."

For now, there is not an official announcement from Annapurna, but we will keep you posted. I loved Training Day, and Triple Nine sounds cool. The Wettest County is scheduled for release on August 31st. What are your thoughts on this news?

Universal Pictures has released the long awaited trailer for the Jeremy Renner film The Bourne Legacy. The movie was directed by Tony Gilroy and also stars Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Albert Finney, Joan Allen, Scott Glenn, Stacy Keach, and Oscar Isaac.

I absolutely love this trailer! It did a great job of getting me pumped up for this movie. I'm a big fan of the Bourne movie franchise, and this movie looks like it's going to be just as badass as the first three. Jeremy Renner was a great choice for the lead role, and it will be awesome to see him kick some ass.

Here's the Synopsis:

The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: The Bourne Legacy. The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films. For The Bourne Legacy, Renner joins fellow series newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprise their roles.

The film hits theaters on August 3rd, 2012. Watch the trailer now, and tell us what you think!

Denzel Washington To Join Mark Wahlberg in 2 GUNS

Denzel Washington is in talks to join another action thriller called 2 Guns, in which he would star along side Mark Wahlberg. Washington must love doing these kinds of films. His next film, Safe House with Ryan Reynolds, comes out next week.

2 Guns is an adaptation of the Boom! Studios graphic novel by Steven Grant. The script was written by Blake Masters, and Baltasar Kormakur (Contraband) is attached to direct. This is one of those films perfect for Washington and Wahlberg. They both seem to enjoy making the same kind of film over and over again. That doesn't mean the movie won't be entertaining! Or does it?

I've never read the comic, but here's a description of the story:

2 Guns is a pulp story about cops and thieves and the men that are something in between. In the graphic novel, Trench has targeted a local bank to rob, and asked Steadman in on the job. Trench figures it's a great way to score – considering it's a cover for mob money. They'll be thieves ripping off thieves. But what Steadman doesn't know is that Trench is a DEA agent. And what Trench doesn't know is that Steadman's got his own secret and isn't who he appears to be.

Washington just finished shooting Robert Zemekis' new live-action film Flight, where he plays "a pilot with a sobriety problem who pulls off a Sully-like landing of a commercial airliner and saves the passengers, only to see his dark secret surface."

What do you think about Washington possibly joining the movie?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Making Feature Directing Debut On Comedy With Scarlett Johansson

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a busy 2012. The actor will be seen in The Dark Knight Rises, Premium Rush, Looper, and Lincoln. He is also set to make his feature directing debut. Deadline reports that the actor penned the script and will star alongside Scarlett Johansson in a comedy being financed by Nicolas Chartier’s Voltage Pictures. Filming is slated to start April 16 on the project being produced by Ram Bergman Productions in association with Gordon-Levitt’s hitRecord Films.

The film is described as "a sexy comedy about about a modern-day Don Juan, and his quest to become less of a 'selfish dick.'” Gordon-Levitt will play the lead character, and there is another female lead role that will be filled soon. The actor said that he has always been interested in directing:

I was a child actor for years and quit at 19, went to school awhile, and a big part of why I came back was that I ultimately wanted to make movies. I spent a year working with Chris Nolan, Rian Johnson, Steven Spielberg, and I did my best to pay attention. I’ve also been making short films for a long time now, I’ve directed a ton of them, and that is a huge part of why I feel comfortable and confident in this.

Until now, he has only directed short films that include an adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s short story Sparks, and Destiny’s Eleventeenth Date: The Zeppelin Zoo. He worked on the feature script for three years.

This is the first time I finished a feature film I thought was good enough to make into a movie. I’ve written others, including one mammothy huge sprawling thing that encompasses my entire point of view of everything since I was 20 years old.
He went on to say what he thinks it will be like to direct himself in the film:
I wrote myself a helluva role, one that people wouldn’t necessarily thought of me for. I’ve thought about that a lot, but that’s a big part of what I’ve learned making and appearing in short films. It takes practice to get used to seeing yourself and not being freaked out and self conscious by the sound of your own voice.
The big question right now is if Gordon-Levitt will be able to follow through on the idea of playing a small role in Django Unchained for Quentin Tarantino. “It will be tricky schedule-wise, but I was honest with Quentin upfront,” Gordon-Levitt said. “He was so cool and encouraging. He said, ‘You strike me as the kind of guy who would want to direct,’ and I took that as high praise.”

KARATE KID Sequel Gets a New Screenwriter

The Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith sequel to The Karate Kid is moving forward. News has recently hit that Columbia Pictures has hired Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk, X-Men: The Last Stand) to re-write the script for the movie. As much as I was biased against the original remake of the film, I ultimately and surprisingly ended up liking it. It was a very well-made film. It's not better than the original, but it was still very entertaining. If you haven't seen it yet I suggest you check it out, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

The movie made over $359 million dollars worldwide, and we knew a sequel was coming. As of right now there are no plot details, but the two stars of the first film are expected to reprise their roles. I think Penn will do a fine job taking on the script for the film and might be able help create a sequel that could be better than the first.

It looks like Harald Zwart will be back to direct the sequel, and in a previous interview with comingsoon he had this to say about the sequel:

I remember just watching Jaden and Jackie on and off camera and thinking, 'They're such a good movie couple.' They're just a good two characters I think. I definitely think we can take these two people somewhere else, but that's all up to the success. I'm open for anything.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they end up coming up with for the sequel. What do you think?

Anne Rice's TALE OF THE BODY THIEF To Get Film Adaptation

Anne Rice's The Tale of the Body Thief is being turned into a movie. THR reports that Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer and Ron Howard have optioned the rights to the fourth book in Rice's best-selling series, The Vampire Chronicles. This is good news for fans of the Vampire Lestat. Tom Cruise played Lestat in 1994’s Interview With the Vampire from Warner Bros. The studio also released Queen of the Damned, based on the third book in the series.

Imagine is funding the purchase with the help of India's Reliance Big Entertainment. Lee Patterson is currently working on the script. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Fringe and the Star Trek and Transformers movies) are also serving as producers along with Imagine.

Body Thief's story concerns "body-switching. Lestat, depressed and lonely after centuries as a vampire, decides to transfer souls for a day with a psychic, who after the transfer reveals that he has no intention of switching back. Lestat, now in a human body and with the help of some friends, must track down the man and get his body back."

I enjoyed Interview With the Vampire and am interested in seeing this film. I hope a solid director and sign on to the film. What are your thoughts on this news?

The live-action Jetsons movie is set to get a rewrite. Variety reports that Warner Bros. has hired Van Robichaux and Evan Susser (Chewie) to pen its adaptation of the classic Hanna-Barbera TV toon. The long-gestating project will be produced by Donald De Line and Denise Di Novi. A recent draft was written by Adam F. Goldberg.

The story will focus on "the life and times of George, Jane, Judy, and Elroy Jetson." The Jetsons first aired in 1962 as Hanna-Barbera's futuristic answer to The Flintstones. In 1990, Warner Bros released a cartoon version of the show directed by Joseph Barbera.

I always like The Jetsons and The Flintstones and am interested in seeing a live-action take on this. Let's hope it is a lot better than the live-action Flintstones. What are your thoughts on this news?
