Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson Re-teaming as INTERNS

$

Wedding Crashers stars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are teaming up again for a new comedy at 20th Century Fox called Interns. Shawn Levy (Real Steel) is on board to direct the film, which Vaughn himself wrote. According to Vulture,

Vaughn and Wilson will play forty-ish company guys who both get laid off in a downsizing. Convinced they’ve gone about managing their careers entirely wrong, they resolve to become interns at a Google-like dotcom and start anew. Suddenly, the two old chums are competing against wily, fresh-faced 22 year olds for advancement.

It will be awesome to see Vaughn and Wilson get crazy together on the big screen again. I loved the two together in Wedding Crashers, and I've been waiting to see the two actors jump on board a new project together, and here it is! Sounds like it will be a fun movie, and I'm looking forward to it.

What are your thoughts on Vaughn and Wilson teaming up again?

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER - 5 More New Images

We've got some more photos from the Timur Bekmambetov-directed film Abraham Linclon: Vampire Hunter. We brought you a first set of photos yesterday that you can see here in case you missed them. This is going to be a hell of a fun action-packed vampire killing flick. I think the next president of the United States needs to follow in the footsteps of Lincoln and be... a vampire hunter.

The movie stars Benjamin Walker as Abe Lincoln, and the story focuses on the president who embarks on a mission to rid the world of the evil vampires who murdered his mother. The cast also includes Anthony MackieJimmi Simpson, and Mary Elisabeth Winstead.

Here's the Synopsis:

Abraham LincolnVampire Hunter is a re-imagining of the 16th President's life that depicts him as an axe-throwing, highly accomplished killer of vampires -- an obsession of his since those bloodsuckers supposedly took the life of his mother. Lincoln eventually learns that the vampires have fled to the southern states of the U.S. and are concocting a plan to conquer and enslave the entire country -- this in turn leads to the Civil War between the Union and the Confederacy, the latter of which the vampires are aligned with.

The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on June 22th, 2012.

Jason Statham Will Star in Brian De Palma's Remake of HEAT

Don't worry! It's not a remake of Michael Mann's Heat! Badass action star Jason Statham has officially been cast in the remake of Burt Reynolds' 1987 film Heat, which is set to be directed by Brian De Palma. William Goldman will write the script for the film. Goldman wrote the original script for the first film, which was adapted from the book he wrote.

In the film "Statham plays the recovering gambling addict who makes his living providing protection on the rough edges of the gambling world. When a female friend is beaten by a high-rolling mobster, the enforcer kicks some ass and gets in over his head."

If you enjoy watching Statham kicking ass, then Heat is a movie you'll want to see. I liked the original film, but I can see how there's a lot of room for improvement. What are your thoughts on Statham and De Palma taking on this movie together?

A new crazy fiery action clip has been released for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. This new Ghost rRder film looks a hell of a lot better than the first film. It's just so much more over-the-top, and that makes sense since Ghost Rider is such an over-the-top character.

The movie was insanely directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor and stars Nicolas Cage, Fergus Riordan, Ciaran Hinds, Violante Placido, Idris Elba, and Johnny Whitworth.

Ridley Scott Gives Update on BLADE RUNNER Sequel/Prequel

Earlier this week, the internet went crazy when it was reported that Harrison Ford was in talks to join the Blade Runner sequel that Ridley Scott is planning to direct. Then that news was shot down, disappointing a lot of us fans. I really would have loved to see Ford reprise his role, but don't count him out yet! Scott recently gave an interview with EW in which he talks about the status of the film, saying that he's in the early stages of story development. So early, in fact, that they don't know if its even going to be a prequel or a sequel, and that bringing in Ford is still an option they are looking at.

Here's how the interview went down. Read it over and tell us what you think.

What can you tell me about the Blade Runner project?

We’re still in discussions about whether it should be a prequel or sequel. It’s an interesting conversation. I’m meeting with writers and I’ve also gone back to [original Blade Runner screenwriter] Hampton Fancher and he still speaks the speak. He’s right there. I spoke with him this week. But we don’t even have a script yet.

Did you hear about the rumors online that you were supposedly in talks with Harrison Ford to be in it?

No. Don’t know yet. Don’t know yet.

But you wouldn’t rule it out?

Absolutely not. But I’m not sure that that’s going to be a story point, so I don’t know. But if it were, nothing would please me more. Honestly.

But it sounds like you don’t even know yet if there would be a Rick Deckard character?

No. I don’t know.

So, right now, all there is is the concept of doing a Blade Runner film? Nothing more than that?

Right. I just thought Prometheus was so enjoyable — returning to the world of science fiction was so fun — that I wanted to [go back to Blade Runner, too]. I’m also thinking about what the hell I might do for a Prometheus 2.

Do you think there will be one?

[Knocks the wood coffee table and grins]

Let us know what your thoughts are on this Blade Runner sequel. Where would you like to see the story go? Are you up for a prequel or a sequel?

Trailer for Nacho Vigalondo's EXTRATERRESTRIAL

If you have not seen Nacho Vigalondo's Timecrimes, then literally stop reading this and seek it out. Today we have the full trailer for his next film Extraterrestrial, thanks to BleedingCool. The film looks to be another great genre film, and reminds me a bit of Signs mixed with Shaun of the Dead

Here is the descripton from TIFF:

Nacho Vigalondo has already captivated audiences by blending genres in his relentlessly inventive debut feature, Timecrimes. For his follow-up Extraterrestrial, an ingenious take on the alien-invasion film, Vigalondo skilfully merges science fiction and romantic comedy — along with a wicked streak of gallows humour — to shed light on some of the less convivial elements of human behaviour.

Strangers Julio (Julián Villagrán) and Julia (Michelle Jenner) wake up beside one another in Julia’s apartment, groggy, hungover and unsure how they met. Julia is about to send Julio on his way when both notice the uncanny silence gripping Julia’s downtown neighbourhood. Looking out the window, they see Madrid’s skyline dotted with enormous spaceships. The only other person left in the building is Julia’s fawning and somewhat creepy neighbour, Ángel (Carlos Areces), who explains that there’s been an exodus of people fleeing the city. When Julia’s boyfriend Tipo (Miguel Noguera) shows up — having now shifted into survivalist mode — the dynamics between the four reach heady extremes. Attempting to hide their apparent one-night stand, Julia and Julio convince Tipo that Ángel is an alien and must be ejected.

As the narrative unfolds, the spaceships maintain their immobile, sphinx-like presence. The only television station still on the air reports that there are similar space-crafts stationed in cities around the world; none have made any attempts at contact.

Meanwhile, as the claustrophobic atmosphere in the apartment increases, decisions are made about who stays, who goes and who gets the girl.

Vigalondo brilliantly utilizes the confined space of Julia’s apartment as a container for this novel drama about love, jealousy, betrayal and redemption — a drama that effortlessly doubles as an offbeat comedy unburdened by gratuitous special effects. Quirky and profound, Extraterrestrial expounds on natures both human and imaginary.

Natalie Portman To Film Back-To-Back Terrence Malick Movies

Natalie Portman had a baby and won the Best Actress Oscar for Black Swan, and she is now ready to return to acting. Deadline reports that she has signed on to star in Terrence Malick's Knight Of The Cups and Lawless. She will join Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, and Isabel Lucas in Cups, which shoots this summer. After that, she will star opposite Ryan Gosling, Bale, Blanchett, Rooney Mara, and Haley Bennett for Lawless, which will shoot in the fall. Both films are being sold internationally at EFM in Berlin starting tomorrow, so Portman joining will create extra buzz.

I have always been a fan of Portman, and enjoyed her in The Professional, the Star Wars films, and Thor. She will be great in these films as well. Both films have a great cast, so I would not be surprised if there is a lot of buzz.

We shared this video before, but it is appropriate to remind you of how great she is at crying:

What is your favorite Natalie Portman movie? Are you looking forward to seeing her in two Malick movies?

WOMAN IN BLACK Producer Buys Jack The Ripper Script

The Woman in Black opened at number two on the box office with $21million, and now the film's producers may have found their next project. THR reports that Hammer Films has purchased the rights to Ian Fried's Gaslight, a spooky thriller script that was on the 2011 Black List. Hammer is Exclusive Media's genre arm. Tobin Armbrust will oversee the project for Hammer. Guy East and Nigel Sinclair, and Hammer CEO Simon Oakes are attached to produce.

The project is described as "in the vein of From Hell and The Silence of the Lambs." The story imagines that "Jack the Ripper, secretly imprisoned in a London insane asylum, is called upon to help Scotland yard solve a series if murders that share the iconic death brand: dual puncture wounds to the neck."

Fried made the Black List in 2010 with his dark fantasy The Ever After Murders, featuring "fairy tale characters embroiled in a series of murders." Fried is currently writing Spectral, an original supernatural action project for Legendary.

The Jack the Ripper story has always fascinated me. I remember first seeing it onscreen in Time and Again, which is a great time travel sci-fi thriller. From Hell was great, and I think that this sounds like a cool project. What are your thoughts?

IRON SKY - New Trailer Showing the Moon Nazis Invading Earth

Here's the brand spankin' new theatrical trailer for the awesome looking retro sci-fi film Iron Sky. The film follows the incredible story of how the Nazis retreated to a secret base on the moon in an alternate universe. There, they plan their next attack on the world, and then invade it... in flying saucers.

I love the concept of this movie, and not only is the concept cool, but it looks like it was extremely well-made. The movie looks incredibly entertaining. Even the special effects are impressive.

Here's the Synopsis:

Towards the end of World War II the Nazi scientists made a significant breakthrough in anti-gravity. From a secret base built in the Antarctic, the first Nazi spaceships were launched in late ‘45 to found the military base Schwarze Sonne (Black Sun) on the dark side of the Moon. This base was to build a powerful invasion fleet and return to take over the Earth once the time was right.

Now it’s 2018, and it’s the time for the first American Moon landing since the 70?s. Meanwhile the Nazi invasion, that has been over 70 years in the making, is on its way, and the world is goose-stepping towards its doom. The three main characters of the story are Renate Richter (Julia Dietze), Klaus Adler (Götz Otto), and James Washington (Christopher Kirby).

The last we heard, the movie will be released on April 4th, 2012. Watch the trailer, and tell us what you think of this greatness.

Schwarzenegger and Stallone Will Reteam for THE TOMB

Last year, Arnold Schwarzenegger started his relaunch into movies. This year he will appear in The Expendables 2 and in 2013 he will star in The Last Standwhich marks his first starring role in a decade. Now it has been confirmed that Schwarzenegger will join his Expendables co-star Sylvester Stallone in Mikael Håfström's The Tomb. No release date has been set, though production is expected to begin by the end of the year.

The story circles around,

Ray Breslin (Stallone) who is the world’s foremost authority on structural security. He’s analyzed every high security prison and has gained a vast array of survival skills. But all Ray’s ingenuity and knowledge are about to be put to work in the most challenging test he’s ever faced: escaping from the master prison of his own design.

Schwarzenegger, in the role of Church, plays a complex inmate with multiple shades of grey. He’s the guy who fights to keep the prisoners from losing their humanity in their darkest hour as they struggle together to stay alive.

Personally, I think it will be really cool to see both Stallone and Schwarzenegger together again; they're just two guys who are the best action stars in the world. What do you think? Will you go see The Tomb?

Billy Connolly Cast in Peter Jackson's THE HOBBIT

Peter Jackson is currently in the middle of shooting his two Hobbit films, but the cast continues to grow with the addition of actor Billy Connolly. He will take on the role of the great dwarf warrior Dain Ironfoot, who is a cousin of Thorin Oakenshield. Jackson had this to say in a statement:

We could not think of a more fitting actor to play Dain Ironfoot, the staunchest and toughest of Dwarves, than Billy Connolly, the Big Yin himself. With Billy stepping into this role, the cast of The Hobbit is now complete. We can’t wait to see him on the Battlefield!

Connolly is an awesome choice to take on this role, the guy is just a hard old tough-as-nails badass. For those of you not familiar with the man's work, he's been in films such as The Last Samurai, Boondock Saints, and X-Files: I Want to Believe. He's perfect for the role of Dain Ironfoot.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, will be released on December 14th, 2012 and the second film, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, will be released on December 13th, 2013.

What are your thoughts on Connolly being cast in The Hobbit?

YOUR VOICE IN MY HEAD May Reunite HARRY POTTER's David Yates and Emma Watson

Earlier this week, it was reported on Deadline that Warner Bros. has found a new project for director David Yates to work on. The film is called Your Voice In My Head.  The script was written by Emma Forrest, based on her personal memoirs. Story follows "a young woman who attempts suicide, only to be saved by a New York-based psychiatrist who is dying of cancer."

Yates is in discussions with Harry Potter star Emma Watson to play the leading role. Rumor has it that the studio is looking at George Clooney and Tom Hanks for the male lead.

Warner Bros. is excited to see what their next chapter with Yates holds.  They originally offered Yates their script for Imitation Game, but it didn’t catch his interest.  However, as a replacement for Yates WB is looking at Ralph Fiennes and Bryan Singer to direct Imitation Game.

If it can get the cast that is rumored, it sounds like it could be a pretty decent movie.  Let us know what you think.

Russian Takes Video Of Live Mammoth?

$

Seriously? In the last year since I began doing these "weird Science" articles, the Russians have made three large contributions to my series. First they found proof of Yeti's, then they claimed they've known life was on Venus since the 80's, and now a government worker submitted a video to the Telegraph of what he claims to be a live mammoth. It's time to end the nonsense.

As with all paranormal footage, the following video you are about to see is grainy, out of focus, and could totally look like a mammoth if you didn't know what an out of focus bear with a fish in his mouth looked like. Perhaps I'm being too cynical... I mean, the species is only believed to have died out in 1600 B.C.

Russian readers, please explain why these reports keep hitting the web.

MACHETE KILLS - Promo Sales Art

It was recently reported that Robert Rodriquez is moving forward with his sequel to Machete, Machete Kills, which is the second movie in a planned trilogy. Danny Trejo will return to reprise his role as the deadly blade-wielding Mexican ex-Federale. The promo poster art you see above was created to promote the film at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin this week.

The new film will follow the story of Machete as he teams up with the U.S. Government to take on a Mexican drug cartel and a James Bond-style villain who seeks world domination with a satellite weapon. As for the third film, it will be titled Machete Kills Again... In Space

I'm excited to see this Grindhouse style film series continue. We can always use a little more over the top ridiculously bloody fake violence in our lives.
