X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST - Sentinel Viral Marketing

0
0

A fun new viral campaign for X-Men: Days of Future Past has begun, and it centers on Trask Industries and the Sentinels created by Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage), which are robotic guardians, designed to protect humans from the threat of mutants.

There is a ton of really cool information on trask-industries.com. It features a few new details teased about the film, as well as some photos and videos that featuring Trask, the company, and the Sentinels.

Here's a breakdown of the history of the Sentinel program:

In 1973, Trask Industries introduced the first Sentinel production model, the Mark I. Bolivar Trask’s groundbreaking research in AI, robotics and autonomous ballistic systems laid the foundation for the world's most capable anti-mutant defense system. Since the program's inception, we’ve continued to advance our founder's cause through eight additional generational upgrades and enhancements.

As we celebrate five decades of achievement, we also bid farewell to regular production of the Mark I and shift our efforts to full-time manufacturing of the Mark X — our first complete overhaul of the Sentinel line. These highly anticipated units will combine next-generation nanotechnology and bioweapon breakthroughs, promising an even brighter future for the human race.

Check out a couple of cool videos and photos below!

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - Aveline's Back, but Just for Sony

0
0

For those of us who are VITA-less, Assassin's Creed Liberation is a game we might not ever get to play, and that's a shame. Other than hoping Ubisoft ports the game to PS3 or PS4 in the near future, we do have something to look forward to, as Ubisoft has announced about an hour of exclusive story and gameplay for the PS3 and PS4 versions of Black Flag starring Liberation's assassin, Aveline. Here is an excerpt from UbiBlog on the subject.

Aveline’s missions in Black Flag pick up a ways after her story in Liberation ends. “It’s a ways forward so Aveline is a bit older,” Lead Writer Darby McDevitt explains. “It’s not directly related to the end of her story. If Assassin’s Creed IV is like a novel, Aveline’s missions are like a short story.” Providing about an hour of exclusive content, Aveline’s narrative is broken up into three missions, according to Game Director Ashraf Ismail.

SOLD! I've been looking forward to Black Flag anyway, and this just cements the deal. Hopefully the franchise will continue to add more female assassins to the roster, but until then, I'm excited to see them using the one they've already got. Assassin's Creed Black Flag comes out on October 29th for PS3 and 360 and on Launch for PS4 and Xbox One.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson Discusses Quicksilver in THE AVENGERS 2

Aaron Taylor-Johnson could very well end up playing Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which I think he's a great fit for. The actor is currently making the press rounds for Kick-Ass 2, so of course people are going to be asking him about his potential role in the film. In these interviews he talks a little bit about the character and what he thinks of Joss Whedon.

Here's what he told MTV

"I think when it comes around and you're asking about 'Avengers 2' and Quicksilver and things like that, the thing is to think about that he's an abandoned child. Him and his sister are abandoned, they live in Eastern Europe, and if that's something that you can make work, then there's always... you gotta have something that you can relate to. So when it comes to that, then it's enjoyable. So I don't really care what it is you know."

He then had this to say about Whedon:

"Oh man, [Joss Whedon] is awesome! He's a real dude and I love what he did with the first Avengers. He had a real tough task to deal with and I think he put up brilliantly"

In a separate interview with Collider, Taylor-Johnson talked about Marvel Studios offering him the role,

"I feel really flattered and honored that they came to me for that role. I think he’s an interesting character and we’re just gonna keep going into that. I sat down with Joss, I think he’s awesome, I sat down with the guys at Marvel and they’re also great; I think it’d be interesting."

It will be interesting! I have no doubt that Whedon is going to once again deliver the awesomeness.

Universal Pictures has released a couple of new clips from Jeff Wadlow's Kick-Ass 2. Three of them feature short scenes involving Christopher Mintz-Plasse as The Mother Fucker. They show us the character begin to fully embrace his destiny of becoming a supervillain. The third is a scene that includes Mindy Macready aka Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) having an argument with Detective Marcus Williams (Morris Chestnut) about fighting crime.

The movie hits theaters on August 16th, 2013. Enjoy the clips!

Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation.
When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy. Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire—leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes.
Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world’s first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad. But there’s only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.

The CW Looking to Develop a FLASH TV Series

The CW currently has a good thing going with their superhero series Arrow, and the network is looking to expand on their DC TV Universe. According to Deadline The CW is looking to bring The Flash to life next.  The series will be developed by Arrow co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg and director David Nutter.

According to the report, the idea is to introduce The Flash on Arrow next season before giving him his own spin-off series.

Apparently the series will be written by Berlanti, Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns, who also has done some writing on Arrow. Nutter will direct the potential pilot episode.

Arrow has been a pretty awesome show, and even though I'm not the biggest fan of The Flash, I think it could work better as a TV series than a movie. I'm interested to see what they will do with this character in a TV series.

Are you excited to hear that the CW might be developing a Flash series?

BREAKING BAD Season 5 Teaser - Ozymandias

Breaking Bad's glorious return is only a few weeks away! AMC has released a new promo trailer for the final episodes of the series. The trailer is called "Ozymandias," and it gives us an idea of what's going on in Walt's head.

The first episode of the next installment of the final season has been screened for some press, and this is what they are saying:

Don't worry, these are Spoiler Free.

NY Daily News: "If this first episode foreshadows the other seven, much of the drama will be psychological. While Bryan Cranston’s Walter White tries to ignore the toll of his chosen course on those around him, the wreckage has begun piling up...the first episode offers few clues about what form justice will eventually take, if it takes any form at all."

Hollywood Reporter: "... the return episode is riveting from start to finish -- with the use of another flash-forward that also kicked off this final season -- and it concludes with an extended scene that is written, acted and shot with the kind of magnificence that is at the heart of why the series is so exalted."

The Wrap: "...nothing I could put into sentences would deliver the crackling euphoria the show creates with each jittery montage, wincing fight, scream-at-the-screen flashforward. 'Breaking Bad' tells its story better than anyone else could."

Sun Sentinel: "Indeed, to the show's credit, the Jesse arc might be every bit as fascinating as Walt's is—or, for that matter, Hank's appears destined to be. And while Gilligan and company have occasionally taken their time to meander on oddities, betraying the showrunner's quirky sensibilities, this tautly paced episode suggests it's going to be more of a sprint toward the finish line, with barely an ounce of fat on it."

Variety: "And while the first of these remaining hours does little to suggest whether the wrap-up will ultimately prove worthy of the journey, it’s breathtaking stuff, providing tour-de-force moments for the key characters. Continuing to tease the outcome with out-of-context glimpses of future events, there’s no telling where “Bad” will wind up. But if this first hit is any indication, the audience is in very good hands."

The show returns to AMC on August 11th!

Trailer for Ben Stiller's THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY

0
0

Ben Stiller's new film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty looks absolutely wonderful. Stiller not only stars in the film, but he also directed it. The movie also stars Kristen Wiig, Shirley MacLaine, Adam Scott, Kathryn Hahn, and Sean Penn.

I've never seen the 1947 film, and I've never read the original 1939 short story by James Thurber, but the story seems like a timeless concept. I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie. It looks great!

James Thurber's classic story of a day-dreamer who escapes his anonymous life by disappearing into a world of fantasies filled with heroism, romance and action. When his job along with that of his co-worker (Kristen Wiig) are threatened, Walter takes action in the real world embarking on a global journey that turns into an adventure more extraordinary than anything he could have ever imagined.

The movie comes out on December 25th, 2013.  Watch the trailer and let us know what you think!

ELYSIUM Film Clip - "He's Awake"

We have a new clip from Neill Blomkamp's Elysium for you to check out today. This one is called "He's Awake," and it features Matt Damon waking up as new man with a mechanical exoskeleton drilled into his body. I'm sure that was a fun experience for the character.

The sci-fi thriller also stars Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Diego Luna, William Fichtner, and Wagner Moura. The movie hits theaters on August 9th!

In the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined planet. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the crime and poverty that is now rampant throughout the land. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium's Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.

Katy Perry Wants to Play Rachael in BLADE RUNNER 2

0

It's no secret that director Ridley Scott is in the process of developing a sequel to his classic sci-fi film, Blade Runner. Slowly but surely I'm sure it will happen. One of the Green Lantern scribes, Michael Green, was recently hired to write the script. That doesn't spark much confidence, though, because the Green Lantern had a terrible script.

It looks like pop star Katy Perry is looking to expand her horizons beyond The Smurfs animated movies, and she wants in on the Blade Runner 2 action. In fact, she is openly campaigning for the role of Rachael. Here's what she had to say in an interview with Metro,

"With films, I hope to win you all over with animation and then do other films. I am really interested in comedy, and I would really love to play Rachael in 'Blade Runner 2,' if Ridley would just call!"

Perry definitely has the look! But has she got the acting chops? It's hard to tell in an animated movie like The Smurfs. The thing is, we've still got  few years to go before Scott gets around to making this film, if he gets around to at all. His next film will be the the Moses-inspired movie, Exodus. That gives Perry at least a couple of years to get herself a real acting gig to show what she's got.

Do you think Perry would make a good Rachael in Blade Runner 2

David Tennant's Best Scene in HAMLET

For those of you who haven't seen BBC's modern retelling of Hamlet, you're in for a treat. David Tennant plays one of the most bizarre Hamlets I've seen outside of Adam Sandler in Billy Madison but in this clip he's even giving him a run for his money. Check out the clip below, and check out the movie if you get a chance. Patrick Stewart plays a ghost!

Red-Band Trailer for 2 GUNS

Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington's new action comedy 2 Guns comes out this weekend, and it looks like it could actually be entertaining. A new red-band trailer has been released, and it features some new footage from the film that some of you might enjoy.

The movie also has a strong supporting cast that includes Paula Patton, Bill Paxton, Edward James Olmos, and James Marsden. I think the movie could be worth checking out, and it hits theaters on August 2nd, 2013! Do you plan to see this one?

Academy Award® winner Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg lead an all-star cast in “2 Guns,” an explosive action film that tracks two operatives from competing bureaus who are forced on the run together. But there is a big problem with their unique alliance: Neither knows that the other is an undercover federal agent.
For the past 12 months, DEA agent Bobby Trench (Washington) and U.S. naval intelligence officer Marcus Stigman (Wahlberg) have been reluctantly attached at the hip. Working undercover as members of a narcotics syndicate, each man distrusts his partner as much as the criminals they have both been tasked to take down.
When their attempt to infiltrate a Mexican drug cartel and recover millions goes haywire, Trench and Stigman are suddenly disavowed by their superiors. Now that everyone wants them in jail or in the ground, the only person they can count on is the other. Unfortunately for their pursuers, when good guys spend years pretending to be bad, they pick up a few tricks along the way.

James Gunn on Karen Gillan's Bald Head in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Former Doctor Who star Karen Gillan shocked fans at Comic-Con when she tore off a red-haired wig to reveal her bald head for her role as Nebula in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy

Apparently fans are pissed, and the director has been getting hate mail, blaming him for making her cut off her beautiful hair. Maybe what people don't understand these days is that hair grows back. Gunn fired back on Twitter saying,

"If you are sending me hate messages about making @KarenGillan2 shave her head, you might consider the overall state of your life."

I think Gillan is freakin' beautiful, and I don't really care that she shaved her head because it's for a cool role in an awesome looking movie. Gunn went on to explain on his Formspring that,

"It was explained that whoever played Nebula would have to shave her head. So Karen knew about this when she auditioned. A bald cap looks fake when seen repeatedly up close & during long action sequences."

It makes sense to me that she would have a real bald head, and I'm looking forward to seeing her kick some ass. In a separate interview with AMC, Gillan talked about her character saying,

"Nebula is the villain of the film. She's an employee of Thanos and she has a very interesting and complex relationship to the lead female of the film, Gamora."

Guardians of the Galaxy is going to kick some major ass! I have a feeling people are going to be blown away by its awesomeness. As much as I love Joss Whedon's The Avengers, I think there's a good chance that this could end up being a better movie. It won't make as much money though.

Are you pissed off that Gillan shaved her head?

Disney Teams Up with Harvey Weinstein for ARTEMIS FOWL

0
0

I honestly didn't think I would see the day when Walt Disney Pictures and Harvey Weinstein would team up for a movie again. It seems like it's even hard for Weinstein to believe. But they have come together again to develop a big screen adaptation of Artemis Fowl. The book comes from Disney Publishing Worldwide’s best-selling children’s fiction series by author Eoin Colfer.

The story is about a 12-year-old Artemis, "who is a millionaire, a genius - and above all, a criminal mastermind. But Artemis doesn’t know what he's taken on when he kidnaps a fairy (Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon Unit) to harness her magic to save his family. These aren't the fairies of the bedtime stories  - they're dangerous."

Weinstein had this to say in a statement,

"If you would have told me five years ago I would be producing a project with Disney I would have thought you were crazy. I feel as though everything is coming full circle considering Bob DeNiro and Jane Rosenthal brought me this book while I was still at Miramax and within hours I told them I wanted the rights to the film. I am thrilled to be reunited with Alan Horn who I worked with while he was at Warner Bros. and we had tremendous success with The Aviator, Starsky and Hutch and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It is also exciting to partner with friends Alan Bergman, Sean Bailey and of course Bob Iger who has been incredibly generous to me over the years. This is a special project for me because my children absolutely love this book. This story is for everyone and there is no one better than Disney to make a film that will excite people young and old.”
Sounds like it could be a fun film project! Here's more information from the press release:

The Walt Disney Studios is pleased to announce that it is in development on the film adaptation of Artemis Fowl with producer Harvey Weinstein. The live-action feature will be based on the firstand second installments in Disney Publishing Worldwide’s best-selling children’s fiction series by author Eoin Colfer. The screenplay is being written by Michael Goldenberg (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix). Robert DeNiro and Jane Rosenthal will executive produce the project.
“With its balance of mystery, adventure and family appeal, Artemis Fowl is a natural fit for Disney,” said Sean Bailey, president, Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production. “We’re looking forward to collaborating with Harvey on this exciting project.”
“Harvey is one of the preeminent producers in the industry, with impeccable taste and creative instincts,” added Alan Horn, chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. “I had a wonderful time working with Harvey during my tenure at Warner Bros., and I'm very happy to continue that relationship here at Disney.”
The Artemis Fowl book series currently has more than 21 million copies in print in 44 languages worldwide.

AGE OF DINOSAURS Is a Terrible Must-Watch

0
0

If you've happened to stumble across it on your Netflix selections, Age Of Dinosaurs  has all the ingredients for a "do not stream." The cover art looks like an 8th grade Photoshop job, the rating is 2 1/2 stars, and there's a big ASYLUM tag right at the beginning of the film. That being said, I'd watch it again.

The story opens up with an operating room in which a doctor is monitoring an IV drip containing an unidentified yellow substance (likely urine) hooked up to a Komodo Dragon. From here we meet the science-loving goon who thinks everything needs "more time" and the military type roughneck who presses onward to disastrous results...so you probably know what's going to happen. They talk back and forth and all the sudden someone wheels in a dinosaur recreated with genetic flesh (which you find out later but it still won't make sense) and they hook electrodes to it and wait. Even though the two have not linked in any way, the Komodo Dragon senses the "parallelality" of the dinosaur and begins to die. People start to panic and hit buttons, science guy screams he will have someone's job for this, military guy screams "CONTINUE THE TRIAL," and miraculously levels stabilize and the dinosaur (which once again is in no way connected to the dragon) springs to life and kills everyone who isn't behind the glass. Thus begins our story.

Zoom to a grandfather and granddaughter in a car. The pithy teen and old person talk, and then she says "Mom would always get on you if the car was at a quarter tank," and I'm like "WHOA! That's his daughter?!" This is perhaps the most surprising reveal of the film. More surprising than the concept of using live dinosaurs for birthday parties, more surprising than when the crippled man suddenly stands up and walks around, and far more surprising than the lack of character development in this film.

Our main character is an out of work firefighter...who got invited to a dinosaur conference? Maybe he works security there? I think his brother/his daughter's boyfriend? (it's really hard to tell) gets them tickets. It's really not important. So then we see the head of "Genitisharp: The People are Sharp, The Future is Sharp" which would be clever if the head of the corporation's last name was Sharp, but it's not. It's Justin, so it just sounds stupid. Anyway he reveals that "Dinosaurs are back...for real!" as if he held a press conference earlier that proved to be a sham when someone poked one of his previous dinosaurs, watched it deflate, then turned to him with a finger pointed and shouted "HEY!" Then he's like "IF DINOSAURS CAN WALK, SO CAN I!" and he stands up out of his motorized wheelchair, and I kid you not, starts tap dancing.

From here on out the plot is fairly predictable, the dinosaurs get loose, the CEO is shocked and the military type guy (who I incorrectly assumed was in the military until this point) screams "SHIT HAPPENED IN JAPAN" and the whole thing turns into a shot for shot remake of the lab sequence in Jurassic Park except that movie is 20 years old and still looks better than this garbage. The dinosaurs bust out of the building eventually because they're dinosaurs and all hell breaks loose in LA.  From here on out you can imagine how it plays out and you'd be right, but you'd miss out on the hilarious cornball death of their uncle/brother/boyfriend whose initial intent to "buy them time" results in riding a moped into the jaws of a dinosaur not three seconds after saying it.

There's really so much more I can say about what's wrong with this film but to do so would literally be verbalizing the film shot for shot. So let me summarize by saying you should watch it. You'll laugh...and that's about it.

Hilariously Insane Red-Band Trailer for BAD MILO

0
0

Here's a red-band trailer for a crazy-looking new horror comedy called Bad Milo, which seems so ridiculously twisted it should make for an entertaining film. It was directed by Jacob Vaughn  from a script he wrote with Benjamin Hayes and stars comedian Ken Marino. Here's the synopsis!

Tormented by a manipulative, crooked boss (Patrick Warburton), a nagging mother (Mary Kay Place), a deadbeat new age dad (Stephen Root), and a sweet, yet pressuring, wife (Gillian Jacobs), Duncan's (Ken Marino) mounting stress starts to trigger an insufferable gastrointestinal reaction. But then he learns the real problem is a pint-sized demon living in his intestine, who forces its way out and slaughters the people who have angered Duncan. Attempting to keep the demon in check, Duncan befriends it, naming him Milo, and tries to keep his appetite at bay.

Magnolia Pictures releases the film on iTunes/VOD August 29th and in theaters October 4th. Enjoy the trailer!

Trailer for the Charming Time Travel Comedy ABOUT TIME

0

Another trailer has been released for the charming looking time travel romantic comedy About Time. The movie was directed by Richard Curtis and stars Domhnall GleesonRachel McAdams, Bill Nighy, Tom Hollander, and Margot Robbie. Curtis directed Love Actually, which I have to say is at the top of my list of favorite romantic comedies. About Time looks like it will be a fun one. Here's the detailed synopsis:

At the age of 21, Tim Lake (Gleeson) discovers he can travel in time...

The night after another unsatisfactory New Year party, Tim's father (Nighy) tells his son that the men in his family have always had the ability to travel through time. Tim can't change history, but he can change what happens and has happened in his own life—so he decides to make his world a better place...by getting a girlfriend. Sadly, that turns out not to be as easy as you might think.

Moving from the Cornwall coast to London to train as a lawyer, Tim finally meets the beautiful but insecure Mary (McAdams). They fall in love, then an unfortunate time-travel incident means he's never met her at all. So they meet for the first time again—and again—but finally, after a lot of cunning time-traveling, he wins her heart.

Tim then uses his power to create the perfect romantic proposal, to save his wedding from the worst best-man speeches, to save his best friend from professional disaster and to get his pregnant wife to the hospital in time for the birth of their daughter, despite a nasty traffic jam outside Abbey Road.

But as his unusual life progresses, Tim finds out that his unique gift can't save him from the sorrows and ups and downs that affect all families, everywhere. There are great limits to what time travel can achieve, and it can be dangerous too. "About Time" is a comedy about love and time travel, which discovers that, in the end, making the most of life may not need time travel at all.

The movie gets a limited release on November 1st and then expands on November 8th, 2013. Here's the trailer!

Spike Lee's OLDBOY Has a New Release Date

0
0

Just in case you missed the news, Spike Lee's Oldboy remake will now be released on November 27th. It was originally set to be released on October 25th.

The I'm interested to see this, but it really doesn't look that much different from the original movie. It does have great cast of actors, though, including Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sharlto Copley. If you haven't seen the trailer yet, click here.

OLDBOY is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.

New ELYSIUM Film Clip - "Activate Kruger"

Universal Pictures has released another film clip from Elysium. This one features Sharlto Copley's villain character in action as he takes down a couple of "undocumented ships" trying to get to Elysium. It's a short clip, but there are a lot of great little details. The rocket launcher that Kruger uses in the clip is pretty cool.

Elysium stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, Alice Braga, and William Fitchner. It opens in theaters on August 9th. Enjoy the clip!

In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet’s crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens’ luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.
