New Terrifying Trailer for Alfonso Cuarón's GRAVITY

$

Alfonso Cuarón's Gravity may not be a horror film, but the situation these astronauts find themselves in looks like a terrifying nightmare. Everything I've seen from this film has been intense. It looks incredible!

We have another trailer/clip for the film to show you. Like the clip released earlier today, it's a single shot from the film of Sandra Bullock's character finding herself in one of the most insane situations I could ever imagine.

The movie also stars George Clooney and comes out on October 4th! To watch the other trailer released yesterday click here.

GRAVITY, directed by Oscar® nominee Alfonso Cuaron, stars Oscar® winners Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in a heart-pounding thriller that pulls you into the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space.  Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney).  But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes.  The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness.  The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue.  As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left.  But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

We finally have a trailer for Keanu Reeve's martial arts film, 47 Ronin, and regardless of the delays, it looks freakin' awesome! There's a lot of heavy fantasy style action in a beautiful setting. The movie comes from commercial director Carl Erik Rinsch, and for a first feature film it looks great!

"From ancient Japan's most enduring tale, the epic 3D fantasy-adventure 47 Ronin is born. Keanu Reeves leads the cast as Kai, an outcast who joins Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada), the leader of the 47 Ronin. Together they seek vengeance upon the treacherous overlord who killed their master and banished their kind. To restore honor to their homeland, the warriors embark upon a quest that challenges them with a series of trials that would destroy ordinary warriors."

The movie also stars Hiroyuki Sanada, Kou Shibasaki, Tadanobu Asano, and Rinko Kikuchi. Watch the trailer for yourself and let us know if you like what you see!

Rosemarie DeWitt Cast in POLTERGEIST Remake

Mad Men's Rosemarie DeWitt has been cast in director Gil Kenan's remake of Tobe Hooper and Steven Spielberg's classic horror film, Poltergeist. She will be taking on the lead female role in the film. They are still on the hunt to cast the male lead.

Jobeth Williams and Craig T. Nelson played the parents in the original film. According to previous reports, this remake will almost serve as a sequel, as it exists in the same world as the original movie, much like the Evil Dead remake. It's supposed to take place years after the Freeling's were chased out of town by a poltergeist. If you want to know more details about the story, click here.

Kenan is the talented director that made Monster House, and Sam Raimi is attached to produce. I don't really like that this movie is being remade as it's one of my favorites, but hopefully it ends up being good and scary. Raimi did a great job of steering the Evil Dead remake in the right direction, maybe he'll do the same for this.

Agent Coulson Won't Be in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Even though Agent Coulson lives and is part of Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D., according to Joss Whedon, we won't be seeing him in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Whedon spoke to the Associated Press (via: Coming Soon) after he revealed Age of Ultron at Comic-Con, and when asked about the possible return of Coulson to the cinematic universe in the Avengers sequel he said,

"He could. Right now it’s not something I’m pursuing because I have so much going on in ‘Avengers 2.’ Finding out that Coulson is alive would be an entire B story. And I already have too much movie. That’s better than the other thing.

So it looks like if you want to get in on the Agent Coulson action you'll just have to watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., unless he ends up finding a place for him somewhere down the line. He went on to talk about the cinematic universe crossing over into the TV universe saying,

But we also have the movies and we have TV and we need to make sure there’s some crossover, but not so much that people go, ‘Well, I don’t need to see that movie. I saw it on TV.’ If we do that (Marvel Studios President) Kevin Feige is going to come after me with a pitchfork.

It will be fun to see how they handle this, but they are obviously going to keep the the crossover stuff to a minimum. I'm sure he'll eventually show back up in the Marvel cinematic universe at some point... the question is when?

Clint Eastwood has cast Christopher Walken is his big screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, Jersey Boys.

According to Deadline, "Walken will play the role of Angelo “Gyp” DeCarlo, the Jersey mobster who, in the show, served an unofficial consigliere role to the young singers as they tried to build their careers without falling into the grip of organized crime." Walken is an awesome actor, and I'm sure he'll be great in this.

The story centers around Frankie Valli and the other members of pop music sensation the Four Seasons during their rise to superstardom.

Jon Favreau was going to direct the film before Eastwood came on board, but he left to direct an original film called Chef.

Here's the synopsis from the musical:

Everyone knows their songs. Few know their story. Named for a bowling alley that refused to book them, The Four Seasons—Frankie, Tommy, Bob, and Nick—were four high school dropouts who emerged from New Jersey to become true American Idols: one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. With a shiny doo-wop sound highlighted by lead singer Frankie Valli’s stratospheric falsetto, they wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds, and sold 175 million records worldwide—all before they were thirty.

We've got another amazing collection of poster art from Mondo, this time inspired by classic 1980s sci-fi films The Terminator, Aliens and Predator.

The Terminator poster was done by Killian Eng. Aliens was created by Ken Taylor who said,

“Design-wise, the queen is such an awesome-looking creature, I knew that’s what the poster had to center around. It was a real challenge to draw the pose, but I think it’s literally the most fun I’ve had, and most time spent, drawing any movie poster, ever.”

Predator was made by Ash Thorp, who said this about his,

“I remember being scared senseless while watching ‘Predator’ for the first time, and once it pulled off its mask, I lost it,” he said. “Such a great movie moment and iconic monster design. I knew I had to capitalize on and pay homage to that iconic form that really freaked me out as a kid.”

Hope you like these posters!

Greedo Femme Fatale Cosplay

Well, for Greedo I guess this is as sexy as you can get. The Greedo femme fatale was awesomely cosplayed by Corinne Alexandra of Stuck With Pins. Apparently some fanboys are complaining of the sexualized Star Wars cosplayers, calling them "fake nerd girls." I don't know about you, but I'm not complaining. Here's an explanation from Alexandra:

"The last two years I rocked the sexy Chewbacca costume I made in 2010. But as absurd as it sounds, scantily-clad wookiees apparently became an overabundant trend at the Con and some Reddit-trolling nerds got their whitey tighties in a twist over seeing their favorite walking carpet sexualized by “fake nerd girls.” In response, I’ve set out to upset a few more Star Wars fans by sexualizing one of the most unsexy characters in the galaxy far far away — Greedo. Yes, our beloved overzealous bounty hunter with the infamous sloppy marksmanship."

Good for her! I love when geek girls get feisty! She does go on to say, "Before I get harassed for it, I apologize for using Han Solo’s blaster and not a DT-12. It’s the best I could do."

Sylvester Stallone to Star in ROCKY Spin-Off Film CREED

It looks like we're going to get another Rocky film! MGM is looking to bring on director Ryan Coogler and actor Michael B. Jordan (Chronicle) to develop the project. The two recently worked together on an small film called Fruitvale Station, which is doing very well at the box office for an indie. The movie will be called Creed, and it will be a Rocky spinoff.

According to Variety, the story will focus on Apollo Creed’s grandson, played by Jordan, and Sylvester Stallone is on board to reprise his role as Rocky Balboa. They go into more detail saying,

"The story would follow Creed’s grandson, who has grown up reaping the spoils of all his grandfather’s winnings and is forbidden by his family to enter the world of boxing. Against his family’s wishes, he is drawn to boxing and seeks out Balboa to teach him how to fight and follow in his grandfather’s footsteps."

This actually sounds like it could be an amazing film! I'm excited to see how it turns out! What do you think of the concept?

Poster for Disney's SAVING MR. BANKS

Disney has released a brilliant new poster for Tom Hank's upcoming film Saving Mr. Banks. Hanks plays Walt Disney in the movie, which is based on the true story of Disney trying to convince the author of Mary Poppins, P.L. Travers (Emma Thompson), to let him turn her book into a movie. I love that Disney is casting a Mickey Mouse shadow and Travers is casting a Mary Poppins shadow.

The movie looks fantastic, and it's set to be released on December 20th. If you haven't watched the trailer yet, please check it out. You can watch it here

When Walt Disney’s daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers’ “Mary Poppins,” he made them a promise—one that he didn’t realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. But, as the books stop selling and money grows short, Travers reluctantly agrees to go to Los Angeles to hear Disney’s plans for the adaptation.
For those two short weeks in 1961, Walt Disney pulls out all the stops. Armed with imaginative storyboards and chirpy songs from the talented Sherman brothers, Walt launches an all-out onslaught on P.L. Travers, but the prickly author doesn’t budge. He soon begins to watch helplessly as Travers becomes increasingly immovable and the rights begin to move further away from his grasp.
It is only when he reaches into his own childhood that Walt discovers the truth about the ghosts that haunt her, and together they set Mary Poppins free to ultimately make one of the most endearing films in cinematic history

Even though Guardians of the Galaxy has been shooting for almost two weeks already, Marvel and Disney have just sent out a press release making it official.  This movie is going to kick so much ass! There are a lot of people that aren't familiar with this comic book property, but they are going to flip when they see what's in store for them! The stuff shown at Comic-Con was so freakin' cool!

I think the newest piece of info to come out of this press release is confirmation that Glenn Close is playing Nova Prime in the film.

BURBANK, CALIF. (July 23, 2013) – “Guardians of the Galaxy,” the next epic adventure from Marvel Studios has started shooting at the UK’s Shepperton Studios. Directed by James Gunn (“Slither,”“Super”) from his screenplay, with a story by Nicole Perlman and Gunn, the film will introduce audiences to a whole new side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The all-star cast includes Chris Pratt (“Zero Dark Thirty”, “Moneyball”) as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana (“Star Trek Into Darkness”, “Avatar”) as Gamora, Dave Bautista (“Riddick”) as Drax the Destroyer, Lee Pace (“The Hobbit,” “Lincoln”) as Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker (AMC’s “The Walking Dead”) as Yondu, Karen Gillan (BBC TV’s “Doctor Who”) as Nebula, two-time Academy Award® nominee Djimon Hounsou (“Amistad”, “Gladiator”) as Korath, with Academy Award® winner Benicio del Toro (“Traffic”) as The Collector, Academy Award® nominee John C. Reilly (“Chicago”) as Rhomann Dey, and six-time Academy Award® nominee Glenn Close (“Albert Nobbs,” “Fatal Attraction”) as Nova Prime. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is slated for an August 1, 2014 release in the U.S.
Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jeremy Latcham, Alan Fine and Stan Lee; the co-producer is Nik Korda.
The creative team includes director of photography Ben Davis, BSC (“Wrath of the Titans”, “Kick-Ass”), production designer Charles Wood (“Thor: The Dark World”), BAFTA-nominated Editor Fred Raskin (“Django Unchained,” “Fast Five”) and Academy Award®-winning editor Hughes Winborne, A.C.E. STAR WARS: EPISODE VII - Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron Up for Roles

Disney, Lucasfilm, and director J.J. Abrams are hard at work prepping to go into production of Star Wars: Episode VII, and we know that somewhere down the line they are going to have to cast some lead actors other than Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher. It looks like that casting process is underway, and a couple of names have surfaced.

According to our friends at Latino Review, Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron are up for roles in this film! They say that Gosling is up the part of Luke Skywalker's son. They aren't sure who Efron would play, but they speculate it could be for Han Solo's son. I think it would be amazing if Gosling ended up starring in the film! But I could care less about Efron. That guy simply can't act, and I'd be pretty disappointed if they cast him

None of this is set in stone, but Latino Review has a crazy good batting average when it comes to their movie scoops. What do you think about these casting rumors?

Leonardo DiCaprio Turns Down STAR WARS for ROBOTECH

It shouldn't come as a surprise that Disney and Lucasfilm have been going after big name actors to star in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII. We recently learned that Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron are being considered for parts, but they aren't the only ones the studio has sought.

According to Latino-Review, the studio also wanted Leonardo DiCaprio to star in the film. He turned it down so that he could focus his attention on Robotech instead! I've been waiting for a live-action Robotech movie for years! The last thing we heard was that commercial director Nic Mathieu would be developing it with producers Akiva Goldsman and Tobey Maguire.

If he turned down Star Wars for Robotech, then I assume he's already committed to the big screen adaption of the classic '80s anime series. It makes sense that he would choose this over Star Wars. It just doesn't seem like DiCaprio would fit in that universe. He's also close friends with Maguire, and you've gotta have your friend's back.

Robotech takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off an alien invasion, with the fate of the human race ending up in the hands of two young pilots.

As a huge fan of this series, I'm very excited to see it finally brought to the big screen as a live-action film.

What do you think of the possibility of DiCaprio starring in the movie?

BLOODSPORT Remake Will Be Directed by James McTeigue

V for Vendetta director James McTeigue is set to direct a remake of the classic 1988 Jean-Claude Van Damme action film Bloodsport. The original script for the remake was written by Taken scribe Robert Mark Kamen, and it will be rewritten by Craig Rosenberg.

According to Variety, the new film will explore the life of 21st century mercenaries as they collide with the underground world of Brazilian Vale Tudo fighting.

I loved what McTeigue did with V for Vendetta, but since then his films have been crap. Those other films are Ninja Assassin and The Raven.  I hope he does something fun with this, but the fact that it's a Bloodsport remake tells me it's probably going to end up being a mediocre action film. Who knows though, maybe they'll cast some badass martial artists that will put on some epic fight sequences.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4 "Might Not Just Be a Spider-Man Movie"

It looks like Sony Pictures might be setting up their own big superhero movie universe built around characters in Spider-Man. As you know, Fox has all of Marvel's mutants, Marvel has their thing going, DC and Warner Bros. have been trying to figure out what they want to do with their characters for years, and now there's the possibility that Sony is gearing up to try something with the Spider-Man characters they own the rights to.

In a recent interview with Crave Online, Webb talked about the fourth Amazing Spider-Man film he will be developing, saying that it might not just be a Spider-Man movie.

"Well, I think this was conceived of as a trilogy so there was a defined architecture to the story we were telling and we had sort of a rough outline of what was going to happen. I think [for] the fourth movie, what we've discovered is there are so many ancillary characters, that have enormous, cinematic potential that there may be other ways to exploit those characters, in a way that is exciting and fun and worthwhile. It might not just be a Spider-Man movie."

This makes me wonder if Sony Pictures will end up developing stand-alone films for other characters in the Spider-Man universe. If they were to do that, what characters would you like to see get their own film?
