Here's another fun film clip from Jeff Wadlow's Kick-Ass 2 for you to watch! This one features Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz) trying to beat Marcus home on her souped-up Motorcycle. She's supposed to be sick in bed instead of out on the streets fighting crime. It's a charming scene that has a Ferris Bueller-type vibe to it.

Kick-Ass 2 hits theaters on August 16th, 2013.
Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation.
When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy. Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire—leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes.
Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world’s first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad. But there’s only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: Full Comic-Con Panel

To be completely honest, I had no idea what the Guardians of the Galaxy was when they announced it at last year's Comic-Con. The more I heard about it the weirder it sounded. After watching the footage they showed this year, I think weird is a good thing. So far, Marvel films have only dipped their toe in irreverent comedy. Guardians of the Galaxy dives right in. Even with its comedic core, the movie looks visually rich and will expand the Marvel universe even further and is just pure geeky fun.

Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Benicio Del Toro, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, and James Gunn all showed up in San Diego taking a break from production that started only 10 days previous.

The first film clip has been released for Neill Blomkamp's Elysium, featuring Matt Damon having a very hard discussion with a robot Border Agent. This is going to be such a great film!

The sci-fi thriller also stars Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Diego Luna, William Fichtner, and Wagner Moura. The movie hits theaters on August 9th! Enjoy the clip.

In the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined planet. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the crime and poverty that is now rampant throughout the land. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium's Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.

New Teaser Photo of Dwayne Johnson as HERCULES

Since production began on director Brett Ratner's Hercules, Dwayne Johnson has been teasing his look as the title character in the film. This latest image features a full look at the back of Johnson, giving us a better idea of what his costume looks like. The other guy in the shot is the film's cinematographer, Dante Spinotti

The movie also stars Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Joseph Fiennes, Peter Mullan, John Hurt, Rebecca Ferguson, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Aksel Hennie, Reece Ritchie, and Tobias Santelmann.

The movie is based on the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars, and the movie is described as a "revisionist take on the classic myth set in a grounded world where the supernatural does not exist." I might actually be excited for this movie if Ratner weren't directing; I just don't like his stuff.

Here's a synopsis for the film:

Everyone knows the legend of Hercules and his twelve labors. Our story begins after the labors, and after the legend… Haunted by a sin from his past, Hercules has become a mercenary. Along with five faithful companions, he travels ancient Greece selling his services for gold and using his legendary reputation to intimidate enemies. But when the benevolent ruler of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules' help to defeat a savage and terrifying warlord, Hercules finds that in order for good to triumph and justice to prevail... he must again become the hero he once was... he must embrace his own myth... he must be Hercules.

The movie is set to be released on July 25th, 2014

At Comic-Con on Friday, the GeekTyrant crew checked out the panel for The World's End. It featured director Edgar Wright and actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost chatting with moderator Chris Hardwick, and we have the full video (minus the supersecret copyrighted footage) for you right here! Then that night I actually saw the movie, and you can watch my video review below.

The World's End follows five friends as they return to their hometown to finish an epic pub crawl they failed to complete 20 years ago. Things get a little hairy when they realize how much the town has changed in their absence. It also stars Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan, and Rosamund Pike

ASSASSINS CREED IV: Black Flag - The Pirate's Life For Me

While the Assassin's Creed franchise has been criticized (and rightfully so) for pumping out too many annual installments, I can't help but get excited after watching the new 13 minute trailer for their latest entry, Black Flag. Sure, it's a lot of the same things we've been doing for 7 years now. Lots of sneaking up on people in bushes, getting all stabby stabby in midair, finding viewpoints all across the map, etc, etc. There is a certain thing to be said however for refinement, and that is exactly what Ubisoft has done with AC IV. Little things like making newly discovered viewpoints also act as points of fast travel, or enhancing the ship combat to be much more visceral and interactive, while also making the transition from land to sea as smooth as can be. The combat gets even more hectic and fun with Edward Kenway's numerous pistols, and I love how they incorporated ship upgrades into the blueprints you find with treasure maps. The only thing the trailer doesn't really go into much is Kenway himself, but here's hoping he's a little easier to get into than Connor was (though he did grow on me as time went on).

I can certainly understand how someone could get fatigued, and when Black Flag was announced I actually felt the same way. Now all I want to do is get on my ship and customize the snot out of it. I do wish you could name it though. While the JackDaw has a nice ring to it, for some reason I can't help but want to name my ship The Great Chicken Nugget of the Sea!

Don't make fun of me, I know where you live.

RIDDICK: Comic-Con Full Panel

The title character of Riddick is one of Vin Diesel's most iconic roles. The reflective silver eyes, goggles, and attitude helped to launch Diesel's career. It's clear he loves playing the character and pushed to get a sequel to Pitch Black made. While The Chronicles of Riddick was considered a flop by most, I enjoyed the film and the world it was trying to build. Thanks to the continued success of the Fast and Furious franchise, Diesel was able to get Riddick made.

Director David Twohy and actress Katee Sackhoff joined Diesel in promoting the movie during Comic-Con. Riddick looks like it pulls the best elements of the first two films and rolls them into one solid movie.

5 Ways Female Prison Is Different from ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK

So I'm sure you and many others like me have been drawn in by Netflix's Orange Is The New Black, and have been loving it. Heck, some of you might have even been thinking to yourself, "Hey, women's prison isn't so bad! I bet I could make it in there!" Well, while the show is based on the actual experiences of Piper Kerman, there are a few things the show overlooks or chooses to ignore that I felt the need to point out.

5. It's A Lot Grosser.

Abigail Pesta spent time in Rikers Island in New York City for real-estate fraud, and had the grossest experience I've read about. Now I know you can't smell the screen or anything, but all the women you see featured appear in the shower at some point in the show. In her experience, she was handcuffed to a woman who smelled like death, and ended up having a yeast infection of the entirety of her body upon exiting. Gross? Of course, but she said she never felt better upon leaving. Not to get too gross here, but it's a well known fact that feminine hygiene products are in short supply...not going to go much more into that...but yeah.

4. There Are A Lot More People.

Overcrowding in prisons has become a common problem across the USA, so why don't we see it in the show? Everyone has a bed, and their own space, and this doesn't happen in the real world. Prisons in California have been having to convert cafeterias into dorm rooms, and there's just not enough room for everyone.

 3. 10% Of Female Inmates Suffer Sexual Abuse.

Yeah, I know we see the occasional steamy lesbian scene or encounter with a male officer, but the reality is a bit more dark than that. 5.3% of inmates in 2012 were sexually assaulted by a male officer, while 3.7% of assaults happen between inmates. Most of the staff-related ones did come from favors (like the show portrays), but it would appear things are a lot more apparent than they would seem.

2. It's A Lot More Violent.

Okay, it's not OZ by any means, but there is a lot more abuse going on than the show portrays. Most of it's verbal--lots of cussing and hurling insults, but overcrowding has led to a surge in violence nationally. It's still not as bad as male prisons, but it's definitely not the steal-a-screwdriver-and-use-it-as-a-sex-toy community the show would like you to believe.

1. It's A Lot Less Ethnically Diverse.

Seriously, there's not that many white people. This article isn't going to go into the sociological roots of the disparity in incarceration rates, but it's a fact. Look at prison populations, and look at the show. There are three times as many African American women in prison than white women.

Given the hygiene issues, overcrowding, and violence both sexual and physical, prison sounds a lot less glamorous now, right?

PROJECT KRONOS Sci-Fi Short Getting Feature Film Adaptation

A couple of months ago we posted an impressively well-made sci-fi short called Project Kronos. The short was written and directed by Hasraf 'HaZ' Dulull and it "chronicles a space agency of the near future and its first contact with intelligent life on an interstellar space mission.” The short was filmed documentary-style.

It caught the eye Armory Film and Benderspinkweiner, and it will be adapted into a full-length feature film. According to Variety, Dullul will direct the feature from his own script. Before this movie came along Dulull worked as a VFX artist on films such as The Dark Knight and Hellboy 2.

I enjoyed the short, and I think it will make for a solid film. If you haven't had a chance to watch it yet, you can check it out below.

Edgar Wright Says Hank Pym Will Be in ANT-MAN

Joss Whedon recently talked about Avengers: Age of Ultron, and said that one of the main characters from the comic book storyline Hank Pym, would not be in the film. He basically took Ultron and built an original story around it that fits into the Marvel universe.  But that doesn't mean Pym won't show up in the cinematic universe! Ant-Man writer and director Edgar Wright told io9 that he will actually be in Ant-Man. This is what the site says,

"Just now, we were interviewing Edgar Wright about his new film The World's End, and he told us that we will, indeed, meet Hank Pym in Wright's Ant-Man movie."
There's no word on how big of a role the character will have in the film. Pym was the original Ant-Man, but Wright previously described his Ant-Man as a "badass secret agent," which lead many to believe the main Ant-Man character in Wright's film will be Scott Lang.

It's hard to speculate how they will handle the character because the Marvel cinematic universe has taken a detour from the comics. Only time will tell what is in store.

Lionsgate has released a new photo from I, Frankenstein featuring Aaron Eckhart as the monster Adam, and Yvonne Strahovski as a character named Terra. We had the chance to see the first footage of this film at Comic-Con over the weekend, and it looked ok. It has the same kind of tone as the Underworld films, only not as good. I'm sure it will be fun, but it's definitely not going to be the best thing that Eckhart has done in his career.

The movie is based on the graphic novel created by Kevin Grievous, and here's the synopsis...

Set in a dystopic present where vigilant gargoyles and ferocious demons rage in a battle for ultimate power, Victor Frankenstein's creation Adam (Aaron Eckhart) finds himself caught in the middle as both sides race to discover the secret to his immortality.

The movie was written and directed by Stuart Beattie. It also stars Bill Nighy, Miranda Otto, Jai Courtney, Socratis Otto, Mahesh Jadu, Caitlin Stasey, and Aden Young as Victor Frankenstein.

Here's our first official look at André Benjamin, a.k.a. André 3000, as Jimi Hendrix in the upcoming biopic of the musician. The movie is called All Is By My Side, and it's being helmed by writer and director John Ridley for Darko Entertainment. He definitely looks the part. Here's the synopsis:

In “All Is By My Side,” there’s rock music. Then there's Jimi Hendrix. “All Is By My Side” captures the energy, the charisma, the mind-boggling talent of a legend whose musical influence still resonates around the world today. Based on actual interviews and archival materials, “All Is By My Side” brings authenticity and poignantly reveals a Jimi Hendrix behind the legend. At its heart a love story, “All Is By My Side” is about a man growing up, falling in love and becoming Jimi.

The story will focus on Hendrix's time in England between 1966 and 1967 when he worked on his debut album, Are You Experienced

The movie is set to premiere at TIFF

It looks like Children of Men director Alfonso Cuaron has created yet another amazing film with his sci-fi space thriller, Gravity. Warner Bros. has released an incredibly intense trailer/clip for the film that is a single continuous shot of the shit hitting the fan. If you're not sold on this movie yet, this is the clip that will do it. This was one of the scenes shown at Comic-Con over the weekend, and the crowd went wild for it.

GRAVITY, directed by Oscar® nominee Alfonso Cuaron, stars Oscar® winners Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in a heart-pounding thriller that pulls you into the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space.  Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney).  But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes.  The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness.  The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue.  As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left.  But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

The film opens on October 4th, now check out this incredible trailer!

Paul Greengrass to Direct Aaron Sorkin's CHICAGO 7

DreamWorks is moving forward on their production of the Aaron Sorkin-scripted film The Trial of the  Chicago 7. Steven Spielberg has been looking to direct it since 2008, but according to an inside source, no movement has been made. The source explains that “every two months it’s been revisited. The title would come up in conversation at production meetings. But it’s just been hanging.”

Not anymore. The studio is pushing it forward, and according to Deadline, they are looking to hire Paul Greengrass  (Bourne franchise) to direct it. Greengrass was also looking to direct it back in 2008 when Spielberg's plate started to fill up with other projects. It's funny to see this news pop up again five years later.

The movie is "based on the infamous 1969 federal conspiracy trial arising out of the protesters vs police violent rioting at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago that transfixed the nation because of its counter-culture and leftist mayhem intended to undermine the U.S. government."

I was hoping this movie would eventually get made, and with Greengrass at the helm, I'm sure this will end up being a solid flick. The movie goes into production in January of next year. Here's a more detailed description:

Based on the 2007 documentary "Chicago 10," by Brett Morgen. At the 1968 Democratic Convention, protesters, denied permits for demonstrations, repeatedly clashed with the Chicago Police Department, who waged a week-long terror campaign that resulted in riots witnessedlive by a television audience of over 50 million. The events had a polarizing effect on the country. Needing to find a scapegoat for the riots, theGovernment held eight of the most vocal activists accountable for the violence and brought them to trial a year later. The defendants representeda broad cross-section of the anti-war movement, from counter-culture icons Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin to renowned pacifist David Dellinger.Seven of the defendants were represented by Leonard Weinglass and famed liberal attorney William Kunstler, who went head-to-head withprosecution attorney Thomas Foran. The eighth defendant, Bobby Seale, co-chair of the Black Panther Party, insisted on defending himself andwas bound, gagged and handcuffed to his chair by Judge Julius Hoffman. From the start, the trial was a circus with the eight defendants on acollision course with the governmental authority.

Here's a new international trailer for The Wolverine featuring a lot of great new footage! This movie looks insane. The stuff they showed at Comic-Con was badass, and I am confident that the fans are finally going to be happy with a Wolverine movie. This is what we've been waiting for, and it looks like they actually got it right this time.

The movie comes out later this week on July 26th! Are you ready?!

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality.

GRAN TURISMO Coming to the Big Screen!

Sony Pictures is looking to bring PlayStation's popular racecar franchise Gran Turismo to the big screen, and they've brought on Fifty Shades of Grey producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti to produce it!

The Fast and the Furious film has made making racecar movies quite popular these days. On top of that, Universal Pictures franchise DreamWorks is developing a Need for Speed movie, and Legendary Pictures is making one for Hot Wheels. Sony is obviously looking to jump on the race car movie bandwagon so they can capitalize on it. Hopefully they can deliver a solidly awesome product.

I've always enjoyed playing the Gran Turismo games, but there's no real story to build a movie on, just racing cars. It will be interesting to see what they come up with to make this different from the rest. No matter what the do though, they have a very big popular brand name that people will recognize and want to see.

Are you excited to hear that Gran Turismo is being turned into a movie?

Sony Pictures has released a second film clip from Neill Blomkamp and Matt Damon's sci-fi action film, Elysium. This great clip features a gunfight between robots and humans. Apparently Damon's character and his compatriots are in the middle of some kind of heist.

Unfortunately, Entertainment Weekly doesn't offer an embed, so just click on the image below to watch the clip. The sci-fi thriller also stars Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Diego Luna, William Fichtner, and Wagner Moura. The movie hits theaters on August 9th!
