Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released this great behind the scenes sneak peek at their animated movie adaptation of Justice League: War. The movie was officially announced at Comic-Con over the weekend. It is based on Geoff Johns and Jim Lee's ongoing origin story arc in the New 52 JL series. The video includes interviews with the cast and crew talking about the film, and also includes storyboards.

The animated feature stars Jason O'Mara as Batman, Alan Tudyk as Superman, Michelle Monaghan as Wonder Woman, Justin Kirk as Green Lantern, Christopher Gorham as The Flash, and Shemar Moore as Cyborg. It's set to be released in 2014.

This video will be included in the Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox home video release, but you can watch it below now.

With The Wolverine soon to be released in theaters, director James Mangold and actor Hugh Jackman made it to Comic-Con to promote their film. They talk about creating the movie and how amazing the character of Wolverine is.

We can't post the footage because it's exclusive to the event. What we saw is not any different from what is in the trailers. The cuts are just longer, so you're not missing out on a lot.

ROBOCOP - Comic-Con Full Panel

There are many that didn't want RoboCop to get rebooted. After 2 disappointing sequels and a lackluster TV show, to me if felt like it was the right time. Director José Padilha, Joel Kinnaman (Alex Murphy / RoboCop), Samuel L. Jackson (Pat Novak), Abbie Cornish (Clara Murphy), and Michael Keaton (Raymond Sellars) talked about the movie and answered questions from the audience.

After an 11 year gap, RoboCop will return to the big screen February 7th, 2014.

PACIFIC RIM Sequel Will Have a Jaeger and Kaiju Hybrid!

Even  though director Guillermo del Toro and writer Travis Beacham are developing a sequel to Pacific Rim, it doesn't mean it's set in stone yet. The studio has yet to green light it; if that's something they even decide to do. I think the movie will end up making around $300 million when all is said and done, so hopefully it happens.

Pacific Rim was one of the funnest movies of the summer. I want to see that sequel get made, especially now that we've learned it will include a Jaeger and Kaiju hybrid! I have to say that I'm having a fun time trying to imagine what that will look like.

This bit of information came straight from Del Toro who had this to say in an interview with MTV

"I’ll tell you a couple of things. We will have Gipsy 2.0 for sure. Second thing is you’re gonna see a merging of Kaiju and Jaeger. And that is quite special."

Del Toro went on to explain how that is possible:

"Just think about it for a second. We sent Gipsy to the other side, right? It exploded, but whatever remains stays there. We’ve drifted with a Kaiju brain. Well, then start riffing on that and you’ll get to something."

This is such a cool concept! Hopefully they get to make it a reality!

GODZILLA - Watch the Full Comic-Con Panel

The footage screened of Godzilla was freakin' insane! It has such an epic scope. Even though it has giant monsters like Pacific Rim, the footage screened had a completely different feel and tone. It has much more of a real world setting. They showed one of the giant creatures that Godzilla will be fighting, but they didn't reveal what the Godzilla in this film will actually look like. Here's a description of the footage we saw:

It starts out with several shots showing a flooded area, a dark street, and Bryan Cranston wearing gas mask. There's an intense feeling in the footage, and they are preparing for something big. We see several other scientists in hazmat suits, paratroopers jumping out of a plane, and a military refugee camp. We then see two military helicopters flying into action in the night sky, firing their machine guns. As the shot goes on we see a huge four-legged monster causing destruction. It's hard to describe, but it was pretty cool! The footage then cuts to an airport where we see a plane exploding, and it causes a domino effect of several other planes exploding in line one by one. As the monster approaches in the background Godzilla's massive foot lands in view and the crowd goes wild! The creature prepares to fight the giant beast and goes into attack mode. Godzilla is clearly much much larger than the creature and we get a tease of how massive it is, but we still don't see its face. We hear the classic epic roar and it cuts to the Godzilla logo.

It was so awesome! I'm very excited about seeing more! While we wait for the first footage of the film to be released online check out the Comic-Con panel below featuring director Gareth Edwards, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, and Bryan Cranston.

The movie comes out on May 16th, 2014!

Possible Title For WB's MAN OF STEEL Follow Up Film

During his surprise appearance in Hall H at WB's Comic-Con panel, director Zack Snyder was very careful with the words he chose to describe the sequel to Man of Steel. A logo was shown onscreen after actor Henry Lennix read a piece from The Dark Knight Returns, but an official title for the sequel was never announced. ComicBook.com did some detective work to see what domains the WB have and have not registered, and they have pretty convincing evidence that the studio will go with the title Batman vs. Superman.

Man of Steel scribe David S. Goyer threw out two possible combinations for the title during the Superman 75th Anniversary panel:

“So over in Hall H at the Warner Bros.–I guess most people know now–at the end of the Warner Bros. panel, Zack came out and he brought Henry Lennix, who plays General Swanwick in Man of Steel and we–actually, Henry read a bit from [The Dark Knight Returns] and so the next film we’re making, we’re already in pre-production, comes out in summer of 2015 and it’s–we’re actually not sure whether the title is Superman vs. Batman or Batman vs. Superman but yes, it’s–that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that’s happening.”

ComicBook.com goes on to explain:

David S. Goyer only gave two examples of what the title could be, so we did a little research, figuring that Warner Bros. would likely have registered the domain name that they would want to use for the title. It turns out that Warner Bros. owns both SupermanVsBatman.com and BatmanVsSuperman.com, which could be used to protect comic book titles as well as movie titles. However, when we added movie to the end, we found out that Warner Bros. had only registered BatmanVsSupermanMovie.com but not SupermanVsBatmanMovie.com.

CBM also points out that BatmanVsSupermanMovie.com "was created by Warner Bros. in 2002, and was updated on November 8, 2012."

This all is pretty obvious stuff. I don't expect anyone's jaw to be on the floor right now. But does Batman getting first billing mean he'll be getting more screen time too? It is expected that this film will introduce a new Bruce Wayne. With at least some form of an origin story to tell, the answer is likely 'yes.'

Which title do you prefer? Are there any other established Batman/Superman story titles that you think the WB should choose instead?

The last episode of Dexter was fantastic, and if you're watching, then you know there's a lot of big intense shit that is going to go down. The next episode will feature Dexter and Deb trying to keep Dr. Vogel safe after she is taken by 'The Brain Surgeon.'

The next episode is called "The Little Piggy," and I have no idea what to expect. At this point it looks like anything can happen.

Sacha Baron Cohen Drops out of FREDDIE MERCURY Biopic

0
0

Back in 2010 Sacha Baron Cohen attached himself to a biopic based on the life of Queen's Freddie Mercury. It was recently reported that he's dropped out of the project due to creative differences with the remaining band members.

Deadline reports, "Sacha Baron Cohen is just not seeing eye to eye with the remaining members of Queen who have script and director approval over that biopic on iconic lead singer Freddie Mercury."

It seems the actor has grown frustrated and is ready to move on and away from the project. At one point David Fincher or Les Miserables director Tom Hooper  were looking to direct the film, but apparently that's not going to happen either because the band didn't like either of the choices, which is pretty surprising as they are both talented filmmakers. The script for the film was written by Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen, The Last King of Scotland).

The film would have focused on the band's formative years, leading up to Queen’s appearance at Live Aid in 1985.

I was looking forward to seeing Cohen in this film. It's kind of sad that it isn't going to happen now.

Ivan Reitman Clears up some GHOSTBUSTERS 3 Info

0
0

There's been a lot of talk about Ghostbusters 3 for several years. The movie is very slowly inching towards development, and one day I'm sure it will happen. Dan Aykroyd has been the biggest advocate for the film, always sharing the newest and latest updates, but now director Ivan Reitman has a few updates of his own. He clears up rumors about Bill Murray's involvement, the film's timeline, and says that it is making steady progress.

This is what he had to say about it at a TIFF Bell Lightbox screening of Ghostbusters last week.

"Bill Murray has never actually read anything. He may have read ten pages at some point, but he’s never read a script. But he’s never been interested, either. That part is true. It wasn’t Ghostbusters in particular, it’s just, he’s been carrying on his life in a different way, in terms of the kind of parts that he’s wanted to pursue. I mean, he’s a really brilliant actor, comedian, personality. I’ve worked with him now five times, and I would love to work with him again. I’d hope that he could be in this film. He could be, he might not be, I really don’t know."

He goes on to talk about the project itself saying,

"[I]f we can find a way to make a film that’s somewhat as magical as [Ghostbusters] finally turned out to be, then it’s worth making. If we can’t, then we probably won’t do it. And I think that’s really what’s been taking so damn long. We had a couple of scripts that were quite good, that we just didn’t think quite had it. And one of them was particularly centric to Bill, and we just couldn’t get him to read it. And so that one didn’t get made, even though it was pretty damn good. So we’ve been thinking of alternatives, and we’re actually making some real progress, and we’ll see what happens. That’s the most honest answer I can think of."

So Murray is the biggest hold up on the whole thing. I just wish he'd read the script and do the movie! The fact that Reitman says the script is good should say something. It'd be great to at least get to read those scripts to see what we won't be seeing.

So now they've resigned to making a Ghostbusters movie without Murray, so they are still developing something. Hopefully they can come up with a great storyline. If not, then it doesn't sound like they'll do it. Click here to read the latest plot details.

What do you think about Reitman's comments?

SAVE THE KISS Short - A Different Kind of Superhero Fight

Here's a funny short film I wanted to share with you called Save the Kiss, and it shows us a different kind of superhero fight scene. There are no punches thrown and no death, but there's a lot of fighting. A superhero's girlfriend wants to know his real identity, and he goes on a rant about the meaning of heroism. This is a charming and entertaining short that I think you'll enjoy.

The movie was directed by Stephen Vitale, and it stars Jake Nordwind and Genevieve Farrell. I hope you like it!

Thanks to Vitale for sending it over to us!

Four New Posters for Keanu Reeves' 47 RONIN

IGN

Universal Pictures has released four cool new character posters for Keanu Reeves' martial arts film 47 Ronin. It seems like this movie has been in development forever, and there's still no word on when it's actually going to be released.

"From ancient Japan's most enduring tale, the epic 3D fantasy-adventure 47 Ronin is born. Keanu Reeves leads the cast as Kai, an outcast who joins Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada), the leader of the 47 Ronin. Together they seek vengeance upon the treacherous overlord who killed their master and banished their kind. To restore honor to their homeland, the warriors embark upon a quest that challenges them with a series of trials that would destroy ordinary warriors."
The movie also stars Hiroyuki Sanada, Kou Shibasaki, Tadanobu Asano and Rinko Kikuchi. I've also included a description of the true story that the film is based on below the posters. It sounds like it's going to be an extremely cool movie.

47roninpostersmall2.jpg
47roninpostersmall3.jpg
47roninpostersmall4.jpg
The story tells of a group of samurai who were left leaderless (becoming ronin) after their daimyo (feudal lord) Asano Naganori was compelled to commit seppuku (ritual suicide) for assaulting a court official named Kira Yoshinaka, whose title was Kōzuke no suke. The ronin avenged their master's honor by killing Kira, after waiting and planning for almost two years. In turn, the ronin were themselves forced to commit seppuku for committing the crime of murder. With much embellishment, this true story was popularized in Japanese culture as emblematic of the loyalty, sacrifice, persistence, and honor that people should preserve in their daily lives. The popularity of the almost mythical tale was enhanced by rapid modernization during the Meiji era of Japanese history, when it is suggested many people in Japan longed for a return to their cultural roots.

New ELYSIUM Poster Featuring Matt Damon's Face

If you're a big fan of Matt Damon's face then you're going to love this new poster for Neill Blomkamp's Elysium! As exited as I am for this film, I'm not the biggest fan of big face posters. They aren't very cool looking.

Elysium also stars Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, Alice Braga, and William Fitchner

In the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined planet. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the crime and poverty that is now rampant throughout the land. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium's Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.

It opens in theaters on August 9th.

WORLD OF WARCRAFT: Video Update With Duncan Jones

Legendary and Warner Bros. sneaked in a teaser video to World of Warcraft between panels. The clip was brief but so insanely cool. It featured a soldier preparing for battle, who is then attacked by an orc. I really hope that they release the clip online because I would rewatch that at least a few dozen times.

After the footage was shown, director Duncan Jones gave a brief update on the movie's production and geeks out on stage. I was already really looking forward to World of Warcraft, and now it's on my most anticipated list.

THE SEVENTH SON: Full Comic-Con Panel

Until last week there wasn't much to see from The Seventh Son--just a few set photos. I have not read the The Wardstone Chronicles books, and I really didn't know what to expect when the trailer was released. It is an interesting fantasy world and the there are some very talented actors involved, like Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore. The movie centers around Ben Barnes, who is "the seventh son of a seventh son" and becomes Bridges' apprentice. I want to like this film, but somehow I'm not completely sold on it. Maybe when more footage is released I'll get off the fence.

Synopsis: John Gregory, the seventh son of a seventh son and the local Spook has protected he country from witches, boggarts, ghouls and all manner of things that go bump in the night. However John is not young anymore and has been seeking out an apprentice to carry on his trade. Most have failed to survive. The last hope to the county a young farmer's son named Thomas Ward. Will he survived the training to become a spook that so many others failed ? Should he trust the girl with pointy shoes? How can Thomas stand a chance against Mother Malkin the most dangerous witch in the county?

The movie is released on January 17, 2014.
