Intense Trailer for OUT OF THE FURNACE with Christian Bale

Here's the first trailer for Christian Bale's great looking new film, Out of the Furnace.  This is Bale's first movie since The Dark Knight Rises, and it looks like it's going to be a pretty intense movie! It also has a great cast of actors that includes Casey Affleck,  Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe, Sam Shepard, and Zoe Saldana.

Russell Baze (Christian Bale) works a dead-end job at the local steel mill, as his terminally ill father did before him.  When Russell’s brother Rodney (Casey Affleck) returns home from serving time in Iraq, he gets lured into one of the most ruthless crime rings in the Northeast and mysteriously disappears. The police fail to crack the case, so - with nothing left to lose - Russell takes matters into his own hands, putting his life on the line to seek justice for his brother. Sometimes your battles choose you.

Out of the Furnace will get a limited release on November 27th and expand into more theaters on December 6th. Check out the trailer!

Johnny Depp in Talks to Star in MORTDECAI

Johnny Depp is in talks to join another film project for Lionsgate. It's called Mortdecai, and it's an adaptation of the book The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery by Kyril Bonfiglioli.

David Koepp will direct the movie from a script he wrote. Koepp worked with Depp before on the film Secret Window, but he's also directed films such as Premium Rush, Ghost Town, and Stir of Echoes.

According to THR, Depp will play Charles Mortdecai, "a debonair art dealer and part time rogue who must traverse the globe armed only with his good looks and special charm in a race to recover a stolen painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold. He also has to juggle angry Russians, the British Mi5, his impossibly leggy wife and an international terrorist."

The book was written in the 1970s and it could end up making for a really cool '70s style thriller. Depp is just coming off The Lone Ranger which was a box office bomb. Even he couldn't save that movie.

Here's the description of the book:

Kyril Bonfiglioli's final novel follows the Hon. Charlie Mortdecai from adventure to misadventure via Jersey and Moscow to a final showdown in a Buckinghamshire bungalow of unparalleled hideousness. Tackling en route an unhealthy sprinkling of well-seasoned academics, a cryptic monk, an aristocratic Chief Constable, and more spies than you could shoehorn into a black stretch limo, Mordecai finds himself embroiled in another mission of international insecurity. Left unfinished at the time of the author's death, the celebrated satirist and parodist Craig Brown supplies the penultimate, plot-resolving chapter.

First Look at Agent Carter's Marvel One Shot

Here's our first look at Hayley Atwell's Marvel One Shot short that focuses on her character, Agent Carter. The story picks up shortly after Captain America: The First Avenger ended. Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito explains to EW,

"It’s a year since Cap plunged into the ocean, and in our mind, we said there’s a few SSR offices. If you want to relate it to now, it’s like the OSS, the precursor to the CIA. The SSR is the precursor to S.H.I.E.L.D. There’s some satellite offices in New York and right now their primary concern is getting Zodiac. Zodiac in the books has been many many different things. We just want you to know it’s deadly, it’s important, bad guys are guarding it, and it’s imperative she gets it.”

It sounds like it will be fun! This sounds like it could end up being the best Marvel One Shot yet. Dominic Cooper is set to return as Tony Stark’s father, Howard Stark. It's set to premiere at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, and you will be able to watch on the upcoming Iron Man 3 blu-ray.

Bruce Lee lives again in this new Chinese commercial for Johnny Walker whiskey featuring a CG animated version of the legendary martial artist. What's funny about this ad is Lee didn't drink alcohol. Here's a funny comment from YouTube user William Aue,

"Everyone knows the key to being in top physical shape and mastering your body's skills like a martial artist is to drink whiskey! What you don't trust the word of a digital ghost resurrected by a business for profit purposes?"

THE WOLVERINE - Wolverine vs. Shingen Clip and Viper Featurette

20th century Fox is on a roll pumping out clips for Hugh Jackman's The Wolverine.  The first clip features a crazy cool flight sequence between Shingen (Hiroyuki Sanada) and Logan, who kind of goes berserker. Another video is a featurette that focuses on Viper, played by Svetlana Khodchenkova. Then there's three additional clips with Yukio, Jean Grey and Viper.

To watch the previously released bullet train fight sequence, click here, and for the funeral fight sequence, click here. So far all of these clips have been badass. I hope they aren't giving us the best parts of the movie!

The movie also stars Will Yun Lee, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima and Brian Tee. The James Mangold-directed film hits theaters on July 26th. Enjoy the new clips!

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world, he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality.

Entertainment Weekly is pumping out a lot of great stuff for their special edition Comic-Con issue. Now we've got a new photo from The Walking Dead season 4 featuring Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon sporting a dirty smelly bandana around his face.

The Walking Dead will have a panel at Comic-Con next week, and we'll be there covering it so stay tuned for more details! The series returns to AMC this October, and Iike all of you, I'm excited to see where they are going to take the story and these characters!

Insanely Badass Iron Throne Art from GAME OF THRONES

George RR Martin says that this depiction of The Iron Throne best fits what he envisioned while writing the A Song of Fire and Ice series. As you can see, it's epically more badass and terrifying than the throne design used in HBO's Game of Thrones. In fact, this fan art puts that one to shame. I would love to see this throne brought to life! Martin explains:

This Iron Throne is massive. Ugly. Assymetric. It's a throne made by blacksmiths hammering together half-melted, broken, twisted swords, wrenched from the hands of dead men or yielded up by defeated foes... a symbol of conquest... it has the steps I describe, and the height. From on top, the king dominates the throne room. And there are thousands of swords in it, not just a few. This Iron Throne is scary. And not at all a comfortable seat, just as Aegon intended.

The art was created by Marc Simonetti, and he should be hired to do concept art for the series! Thank to Geekologie for the heads up on this!

Breath of Bones: A Tale Of The Golem Issue 2 Review

Written by: Steve Niles

Art by: Dave Wachter

Breath of Bones: A Tale of The Golem is at its heart a story of a boy named Noah and his grandfather Jacob being able to believe in something they can't see. That, sprinkled with some Nazis and a giant stone Golem, make Breath of Bones a nice break from the usual. A little known fact is that Golems make everything better (see also: monkeys), as anyone who has played Dragon Age Origins with Shale can attest. If you haven't read issue 1, I suggest giving the preview a read, as it gives some good insight into Noah's life and his relationship with Jacob.

Issue 2, meanwhile, gives a small glimpse at how terrifying life became for anyone of Jewish origin, constantly waiting to be rounded up and taken somewhere no one should ever have to go. There isn’t a great deal of dialogue in this issue, but not much is needed, as together with the black and white art, Niles succeeds in creating a sense of despair and solitude that a thousand words couldn’t convey better. Wachter’s art is so expressive it makes each piece of dialogue leap right off the page. If you’re looking for a unique alternative to superhero comics at the moment, then giving Breath of Bones a read might be worth your time.

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. - New Details and 2 Featurettes

ABC and Marvel have released two new behind the scenes featurettes for Joss Whedon's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. They feature new footage from the series as well as interviews with the cast and crew. The show is set to premiere in the fall, and I'm pretty confident that it's going to be great.

Thanks to EW we also have some new details for the series to share! The info includes details on Agent Coulson's death, and also teases how the series will tie in with the movie universe, and more. Here it is:

1. The pilot hints at how mild-mannered kick-ass bureaucrat Agent Coulson (Clarke Gregg) was resurrected to lead the team after being killed off in The Avengers (his S.H.I.E.L.D. colleagues say he must “never know the truth” about his death). Yet you’ll have to keep watching to learn the full story. “We can’t wait to pull the curtain back on that,” says co-creator Jed Whedon. “[But] we’re going to take our time.”
2. The S.H.I.E.L.D. story will work in tandem with the Marvel films, both past and upcoming. In fact, the first episode will pick up a storyline that’s familiar from one of the Marvel hits — and it’s not The Avengers. “We plan on trying to weave in between the films and try to make them more rewarding on both ends,” says Jed Whedon, who points out the trick is to make the audience not ask a certain fanboy-bar-fight-style question: “In any of these [episodes], you can always ask: ‘Why don’t they just call Iron Man?’” Yeah, that would be annoying! So our next question is: Why don’t they just call Iron Man? “They are aware of each other,” Whedon says of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team and the metal-suited Malibu playboy, “but they do have to have their own lives.”
3. Here’s a question from the Internets that will be answered in the pilot: Does J. August Richards play Rage? Expect that and other revelations at the Comic-Con panel, just not a ton of them. “We’ll finally be able to answer some questions,” says co-creator Maurissa Tancharoen. “Though I’m sure we’ll have to stay on the vague end of the spectrum.”

Here are the featurettes:

Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary.
Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).
From Executive Producers Joss Whedon (Marvel’s The Avengers, ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer”); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot co-writers (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”); Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”); and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville”) comes Marvel’s first TV series.  “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

Ben Affleck Joins David Fincher's GONE GIRL

Before Ben Affleck gets back behind the camera to direct his next film, Live By Night, he will star in David Fincher's upcoming new film Gone Girl.  It's not secret that I'm a huge fan of Fincher's work, and if anyone can bring the acting talent out of Affleck it's Fincher.

The project is an adaptation of Gillian Flynn's novel, and the story centers on a woman who disappears on the day of her fifth anniversary with all evidence pointing to her husband as the killer. Affleck is set to play the woman's husband. Resse Witherspoon is one of the producers on the movie, but it doesn't look like she will star in it, so the hunt is on for the female lead.

This story is right up Fincher's ally, and I'm sure he's going to turn it into another fantastic film. It starts shooting in the fall, and hopefully when he's done with it he will be able to start work on Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Here's a description of the book:

Marriage can be a real killer.

One of the most critically acclaimed suspense writers of our time, New York Times bestseller Gillian Flynn takes that statement to its darkest place in this unputdownable masterpiece about a marriage gone terribly, terribly wrong. The Chicago Tribune proclaimed that her work “draws you in and keeps you reading with the force of a pure but nasty addiction.” Gone Girl’s toxic mix of sharp-edged wit and deliciously chilling prose creates a nerve-fraying thriller that confounds you at every turn.

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer?

As the cops close in, every couple in town is soon wondering how well they know the one that they love. With his twin sister, Margo, at his side, Nick stands by his innocence. Trouble is, if Nick didn’t do it, where is that beautiful wife? And what was in that silvery gift box hidden in the back of her bedroom closet?

Fantastic Fest has announced that Robert Rodriguez‘s grindhouse sequel Machete Kills will open their 2013 film festival.

In Machete Kills, Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent Machete, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man - he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.

This year’s Fantastic Fest runs from September 19-26, 2013. The movie opens on October 4th, and I'm sure it will be just as absurdly fun as the first movie.

Here's the press release with all of the details:

Austin, TX - Wednesday, July 10, 2013- Fantastic Fest is excited to announce Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills will have its world premiere on September 19, 2013 as the opening night film for the 2013 festival, which will take place in Austin, Texas at the new Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline location from September 19-26, 2013. Talent from the film, including Danny Trejo, Alexa Vega and Robert Rodriguez, will be in attendance.  Additional talent to be confirmed closer to festival.

"Fantastic Fest has quickly become the best place for fans to first experience the newest and coolest genre movies and blockbusters," said director Robert Rodriguez. "I am honored and extremely excited for Machete Kills to have its world premiere right here in Austin and kick off Fantastic Fest."

Dueling DOCTOR STRANGE Reports - New Movie Details?

$

It seems like we have a little internet battle regarding information on Marvel's Doctor Strange film. Latino-Review has been feeding us a lot of cool information on the upcoming unannounced film project, and so has Comic Book Movie who subtly claims that their source is better than Latino-Review's source and that their information is false.

Now there's no confirmation on who is right and who is wrong when it comes to the information they are providing, it's just a couple of sites with two different sources that are feeding them different information. Both of which could be completely false, or one of them totally true.

So the latest update on the film comes from CBM who says they received three pages of the script, so that they can help clarify the reports coming out of Latino-Review. What I think is funny is that at the end of giving their information they say to take it with a grain of salt, when Latino-Review is extremely confident in their source.

Anyway, they say that the shooting title for the film is "Eye See You", which I assume is a play on words for the Doctor's Eye of Agamotto amulet. Here's the rest of the information they provide:

The Marvel source says the pages were made available to "give an idea of how Strange is placed within the MCU/chronological timeline." The following text is paraphrased from the original script pages:
"Nick Fury and SHIELD locate a strong power reading from a mountain in Tibet. Another person is in the same room with Fury and also sees a green-like radiation pulsing from the mountain and asks Fury is it's terrestrial. Fury says it is being analyzed but he hasn't seen such a power surge since Bruce Banner had an accident with Gamma Rays. Fury concludes by saying the Black Widow is in the vicinity and will investigate but until she sends a report, SHIELD is not sure what the proper response is at the moment.
"Then, the third page starts with Doctor Strange begin tired and goes to lay down for the night and in the morning is awakened by his trusted partner Wong. Strange is brought some coffee. Strange sits up and has some menial banter with Wong and grabs a newspaper. The first headline on the paper talks about a giant earthquake in New York, while the second headline says that Tony Stark is officially Iron Man. His response to the Stark headline is, 'Lucky bastard.'"
What is interesting is how the earthquake in New York headline seems to refer to The Incredible Hulk movie and the battle in Harlem. That page also seems to be near the beginning of the Doctor Strange movie but no clarification on where in the movie these pages take place were given.

Here's the thing. Who knows what version of the script these pages came from? For all we know their source wrote up three pages of the script himself and sent it in saying it's from the movie. In time, all will be revealed.

Disney's FROZEN - 9 New Character Photos and Descriptions

Yahoo!

Disney has released nine new character photos for their next CG animated fairytale adventure Frozen. It features the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, Santino Fontana, and Alan Tudyk. Each photo comes with a description of the character and the role they play in the story.

In Frozen, a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, so Anna (voice of Bell) must team up with Kristoff, a daring mountain man, on the grandest of journeys to find the Snow Queen (voice of Menzel) and put an end to the icy spell. Encountering Everest-like extremes, mystical creatures and magic at  every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.
The movie is scheduled to be released on November 27th.

Anna is more daring than graceful and, at times, can act before she thinks. But she’s also the most optimistic and caring person you’ll ever meet. She longs to reconnect with her sister, Elsa, as they were close during their childhood. When Elsa accidentally unleashes a magical secret that locks the kingdom of Arendelle in an eternal winter, Anna embarks on a dangerous adventure to make things right. Armed with only her fearlessness, a never-give-up attitude and her faith in others, Anna is determined to save both her kingdom and her family.

What the Duke of Weselton lacks in stature, he makes up for in arrogance and showboating. He’s determined to get close to the new queen—that is, until Elsa’s magical secret is revealed. Then he’s the first to call her a monster and try to turn her own kingdom against her—anything that might help him exploit Arendelle’s tradable goods.
Hans is a handsome royal from a neighboring kingdom who comes to Arendelle for Elsa’s coronation. With 12 older brothers, Hans grew up feeling practically invisible—and Anna can relate. Hans is smart, observant and chivalrous. Unlike Elsa, Hans promises he’ll never shut Anna out; he just might be the connection she’s been waiting for all these years.

Kristoff is a true outdoorsman. He lives high up in the mountains where he harvests ice and sells it to the kingdom of Arendelle. Rough around the edges, Kristoff’s the strong, no-nonsense type, who follows his own set of rules. He may seem like a loner, but he always has his best friend by his side—a loyal and extremely mangy reindeer named Sven.

Marshmallow is an enormous icy snowman born from Elsa’s powers. He serves as a brute bodyguard charged with keeping intruders away from her ice palace. The menacing white beast doesn’t say much, but he packs a powerful punch.

Oaken runs Wandering Oaken's Trading Post and Sauna. But since Elsa’s massive winter storm hits in mid-July, he finds himself with a surplus of summer supplies. Deal-seekers beware: though he’s good-natured and helpful, if you cross him, Oaken won’t hesitate to throw you out of his humble establishment.

He’s Olaf and he likes warm hugs. Sprung from Elsa’s magical powers, Olaf is by far the friendliest snowman to walk the mountains above Arendelle. His innocence, outgoing personality and uncanny ability to disassemble himself at good and not-so-good times lead to some awkward, albeit laughable moments. He may also have the world’s most impossible dream, but what he doesn’t know won’t melt him—or will it?
A reindeer with the heart of a Labrador, Sven is Kristoff’s loyal friend, sleigh-puller and conscience. He makes sure his mountain-man companion is the stand-up guy Sven knows and loves, and does so without saying a word. A few emphatic snorts usually get his point across. Life would be perfect if only Kristoff would lose that ridiculous reindeer voice he likes to use when speaking for Sven (as if reindeers really talk that way).

From the outside, Elsa looks poised, regal and reserved, but in reality, she lives in fear as she wrestles with a mighty secret—she was born with the power to create ice and snow. It’s a beautiful ability, but also extremely dangerous. Haunted by the moment her magic nearly killed her younger sister Anna, Elsa has isolated herself, spending every waking minute trying to suppress her growing powers. Her mounting emotions trigger the magic, accidentally setting off an eternal winter that she can’t stop. She fears she’s becoming a monster and that no one, not even her sister, can help her.

Plot for THE EXPENDABLES 3 Revealed?

The Expendables 3 is coming and some possible plot details for the film have leaked out online. Not that the movie really needs a plot, it's just a big action movie franchise about good guys fighting bad guys. I guess there has to be a reason for the fight in the first place, and this time it's all about saving the President of the United States. They also reiterate that Jackie Chan is in the film and Jet Li will be returning.

The news comes from expendablespremiere.com and this is the update they have:

It's no surprise that the kung fu legend Jackie Chan is slated to join the growing cast of action superstars for Expendables 3. Chan is to play a former team member that aids Stallone and his crew in saving the president.
Jet Li is also to return; this would be the second time the kung fu movie legends have worked together. And for any action-junky, this will make the popular franchise even more exciting.
Another kung fu movie great, Donnie Yuen was also believed to be attached to the film. But word has it that he backed out of the project.
Still the list of old school action heroes continues to grow with names like Wesley Snipes and Steven Seagal. This could be the biggest collection of action heroes ever in one movie.

I'm sure it will be just as fun as the first two movies. Lionsgate plans to release the film on August 15th, 2014. It will be directed by Patrick Hughes and will also star Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and might also include Nicolas Cage, and Milla Jovovich, who are also in advanced negotiations.

The other cast members of the previous film included Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Nan Yu, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Bruce Willis.

Sharlto Copley to Star in HARDCORE POV Action Film

District 9 star Sharlto Copley is set to play the hero in a new POV action film written and directed by Russian filmmaker Ilya Naishuller. The movie is called Hardcore, and it is described as being an inventive first-person POV action movie. The movie is being produced by fellow Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted).

You might remember a short film called Insane Office Escape and a music video called Bad Motherfucker.  These films were shot using the POV technique and Naishuller is the guy that made them, so I'm sure the movie is going to be incredibly cool. I love that they got Copley to play the lead character in it as well. That guy is an awesome actor.

There are no details for the film yet, but The Wrap says that the "stylized action movie will feature sci-fi elements and find Copley killing a lot of bad guys to save a damsel in distress."

Copley will next be seen in Elysium and Oldboy.  Do you think a movie entirely shot in POV will work?

Grown Ups might be a terrible movie, but surprisingly, it's Adam Sandler's most successful film, which is why a sequel is coming out. In anticipation of the sequel, which is sure to make even more money than the original, the gang at Screen Junkies did a funny new Honest Trailer for the film. It points out all the things are are unfunny about the film that are supposed to be funny.

"Grown Ups 2" is coming out...anyone else think it looks exactly the same as the first one? Or all his other movies? What the hell happened to you Adam? If you're gonna resort to another sequel may we suggest: Happy Gilmore?

Serious! Why haven't we seen a Happy Gilmore sequel!?

Here's a new official photo of Aaron Eckhart as the reanimated monster in I, Frankenstein. I've gotta say he looks pretty good for being a monster. The movie is based on the graphic novel created by Kevin Grievous, and here's the synopsis...

Exciting HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 Teaser Trailer!

DreamWorks Animation has released the first incredibly fun teaser trailer for How to Train Your Dragon 2 ! The first movie was surprisingly fantastic, and the sequel could prove to be even better. Not only is this teaser trailer awesome, but I've heard from people working on the film that it actually is better than the first movie. This trailer did a great job of getting me excited for the movie.

"The thrilling second chapter of the epic How To Train Your Dragon trilogy brings back the fantastical world of Hiccup and Toothless five years later. While Astrid, Snoutlout and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island’s new favorite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting unmapped territories and exploring new worlds. When one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace."

Jay Baruchel is back as Hiccup, America Ferrera as Astrid, Kristen Wiig as Ruffnut, Jonah Hill as Snotlout, T.J. Miller as Tuffnut, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Fishleg, Craig Ferguson as Gobber, Gerard Butler as Stoick the Vast, and Kit Harrington plays a Dragon Prince.

How To Train Your Dragon 2 is out on June 20, 2014, with a follow-up due in 2016. Enjoy the trailer!
