Director Gareth Edwards is hard at work trying to bring us the most badass Godzilla movie of our time. Today marks one year until the movie will be released in theaters, and for the occasion Legendary Entertainment has released a new set video from the film featuring Edwards giving us a little update.

Guillermo del Toro was recently asked at the Hero Complex Film Festival what he felt about this remake since there's a giant monster comparison with Pacific Rim. He expressed that he is very excited and that he's looking forward to seeing what Edwards does with it.

The movie comes out on May 16th, 2014.

The Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston and features a screenplay by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont and Dave Callaham

Michelle Yeoh Back for CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON 2

Michelle Yeoh is set to reprise her role as Yu Shu Lien in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2 - The Green Destiny, which is set to be directed by martial arts choreographer Yuen Wo Ping. The sequel revolves around her character.

She joins Donnie Yen who is playing Silent Wolf in the sequel to the Weinstein's classic 2000 martial arts film. The sequel is based on Iron Knight, Silver Vase written by Wang Du Lu. It's the fifth book in the Crane-Iron Pentalogy - which the first Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was based on.

Harvey Weinstein had this to say in a statement:

I loved Ang Lee's film. I thought it was a master class in directing, but I know we are in fantastic hands with Yuen Wo Ping directing the second installment of Crouching Tiger.  Master Yuen worked with me on Iron Monkey, Kill Bill and now Grandmaster. He is a first-class director and choreographer, and I am thrilled to be teaming up with him once more.  With John Fusco's incredible script and the dream team of Donnie Yen and Michelle Yeoh we are in great shape.

John Fusco previously explained the story saying:

This introduces a new generation of star-crossed lovers, and a new series of antagonists in a battle of good and evil. It has a Knights Errant quality. There is an alternate universe in the books, a martial forest that exists alongside the real world, full of wandering sword fighters, medicine men, defrocked priests, poets, sorcerers and Shaolin renegades. It’s so vast and rich, and I found characters from the second and third books in the series to create a most interesting stew while being as true to the source material as I could be.

I'm a huge fan of the first movie, and I'm really hoping that this sequel turns out to be just as awesome! I'm happy that Yeoh decided to come back for it.

CBS has released the first trailer for their old man Las Vegas comedy called Last Vegas which stars Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline. The story follows four old friends who decide to throw a Las Vegas bachelor party for the only one of them who has remained single.

The movie comes from Crazy, Stupid, Love writer Dan Fogelman and was directed by Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure). The trailer has a couple of funny moments, but I personally don't think it looks very good. Maybe you will though, check out the trailer and let us know!

Last Vegas comes out on November 1st, 2014.

CBS has released a new TV spot for the Stephen King and Steven Spielberg-produced series Under The Dome. The spot includes even more new footage from the series that give us more insight to the story.

Brian K. Vaughan of LOST is developing the show, and the pilot episode was directed by Niels Arden Ople (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). I really enjoyed the book that the show is based off of, and I think it looks like they've turned it into a great series worth checking out.

The sci-fi thriller is set to premiere on Monday, June 24th at 10 pm.

INHERENT VICE Casts Reese Witherspoon, Jena Malone, and Martin Short

Reese Witherspoon, Jena Malone, and Martin Short have been cast in Paul Thomas Anderson's next film project Inherent Vice. They will join Joaquin Phoenix, Owen Wilson, and Benicio Del Toro.

The story is set in Los Angeles in 1970, and it follows a pot-smoking private detective named Doc Sportello (Phoenix) as he investigates the case of a kidnapped girl. Del Toro would play "an attorney who's always trying to help the protagonist out of trouble, though he's not an actual criminal lawyer." Witherspoon, who starred with Phoenix in Walk The Line, could end up playing the character of Shasta Fay Hepworth. Malone will play "a former drug addict who asks Sportello for help." Short's part isn't specified, but it's minor.

The movie is an adaptation of the book written by Thomas Pynchon. Here's a description of the book:

Part noir, part psychedelic romp... private eye Doc Sportello comes, occasionally, out of a marijuana haze to watch the end of an era as free love slips away and paranoia creeps in with the L.A. fog... It’s been awhile since Doc Sportello has seen his ex-girlfriend. Suddenly out of nowhere she shows up with a story about a plot to kidnap a billionaire land developer whom she just happens to be in love with. Easy for her to say. It’s the tail end of the psychedelic sixties in L.A., and Doc knows that “love” is another of those words going around at the moment, like “trip” or “groovy,” except that this one usually leads to trouble. Despite which he soon finds himself drawn into a bizarre tangle of motives and passions whose cast of characters includes surfers, hustlers, dopers and rockers, a murderous loan shark, a tenor sax player working undercover, an ex-con with a swastika tattoo and a fondness for Ethel Merman, and a mysterious entity known as the Golden Fang, which may only be a tax dodge set up by some dentists.

HUNGER GAMES Writer to Take on the Sci-Fi Film DEPARTURE

The Hunger Games screenwriter Billy Ray will direct an original sci-fi romance film that he wrote called Departure, which is based on the true story of a never-explained avionic phenomenon. Ray is a solid screenwriter who has also written films such as Breach, Shattered Glass, and the upcoming Tom Hanks film Captain Phillips. This sounds like it will make for a very interesting film.

The story was inspired by a book called "Ghosts of the Air” written by Martin Caidin, which documents real accounts from pilots who have experienced flight anomalies. The movie will follow "a brilliant Miami-based FAA investigator who is obsessed with learning how a 727 suddenly vanished into thin air and then reappeared in the exact same spot ten minutes later. As mysterious occurrences continue to occur with increasing frequency in the skies over Miami, the investigation becomes personal when the employee’s beloved wife is on one of the planes affected."

This has potential to be a great supernatural sci-fi thriller. What do you think of the concept?

HOOK Writer to Adapt THE SCHOOL FOR GOOD AND EVIL

Producer Joe Roth (Oz the Great and Powerful) and Jane Startz have acquired the rights to an upcoming supernatural fantasy novel trilogy called The School for Good and Evil. They've hired Hook screenwriter Malia Scotch Marmo to co-write the film with the book's author Soman Chainani

The book will be published by HarperCollins on May 14th, and it sounds like a fun story. It centers on an ordinary group of "boys and girls who are kidnapped from their homes and sent to The School for Good and Evil, where they are trained to be fairy tale heroes and villains, princesses and witches." I can actually see this making for a great movie.

Here's a trailer for the book and an official description with more details:

At the School for Good and Evil, failing your fairy tale is not an option.

Welcome to the School for Good and Evil, where best friends Sophie and Agatha are about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime.

With her glass slippers and devotion to good deeds, Sophie knows she'll earn top marks at the School for Good and join the ranks of past students like Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Snow White. Meanwhile, Agatha, with her shapeless black frocks and wicked black cat, seems a natural fit for the villains in the School for Evil.

The two girls soon find their fortunes reversed—Sophie's dumped in the School for Evil to take Uglification, Death Curses, and Henchmen Training, while Agatha finds herself in the School for Good, thrust among handsome princes and fair maidens for classes in Princess Etiquette and Animal Communication.

But what if the mistake is actually the first clue to discovering who Sophie and Agatha really are . . ?

The School for Good and Evil is an epic journey into a dazzling new world, where the only way out of a fairy tale is to live through one.

Gerard Butler to Join the Sci-Fi Action Film THE RAVEN

Gerard Butler is in talks to join the big screen adaptation of the sci-fi action short film The Raven. The feature film was announced back in 2010, and it's been floating around in development hell for awhile. It's good to see that Universal Pictures is finally moving forward with it.

The original film was directed by Ricardo de Montreuil and was shot  in Los Angeles on the RED camera with a budget of $5,000 dollars. It's an investment that really paid off for him. We previously heard that Montreuil will direct the film from a script written by Justin Marks

The story follows Chris Black, who "possesses a power that could lead to the destruction of the current regime, and they will stop at nothing to destroy him. The chase is on as Chris runs for his life in this sci-fi thriller set in an alternate and futuristic Los Angeles."

Butler seems like a great choice to star in the film, so hopefully he ends up taking it on. In case you missed the short, you can watch it below:

If you're looking forward to seeing the magician heist film Now You See Me, then you're going to enjoy this new clip from it. It features a really cool fight scene between Mark Ruffalo and Dave Franco. What I love about this clip is that Franco's character fights back with magic, and it's awesome. This movie looks like so much fun!

The movie was directed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk) and also stars Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Melanie Laurent, Common, Michael Kelly, Michael Caine, and Morgan FreemanNow You See Me will magically appear in theaters on May 31st. Enjoy the clip!

Now You See Me pits an elite FBI squad in a game of cat and mouse against 'The Four Horsemen,' a super-team of the world's greatest illusionists. 'The Four Horsemen' pull off a series of daring heists against corrupt business leaders during their performances, showering the stolen profits on their audiences while staying one step ahead of the law.

Here's the second film clip from Warner Bros. animated film LEGO Batman: The Movie - DC Super Heroes Unite, which is an entertaining looking animated adaptation of the popular LEGO Batman video game. The clip features a scene in which Robin doesn't listen to Batman and ends up in a silly situation.

The story finds "Lex Luthor taking jealousy to new heights when fellow billionaire Bruce Wayne wins the Man of the Year Award. To top Wayne’s accomplishment, Lex begins a campaign for President – and to create the atmosphere for his type of fear-based politics, he recruits the Joker to perfect a Black LEGO Destructor Ray. While wreaking havoc on Gotham, Lex successfully destroys Batman's technology – forcing the Caped Crusader to reluctantly turn to Superman for help."

The film is set to be released on Blu-ray and DVD on May 21st.

THE BLACK TOWER - An Homage to RPGs of PS1 Yore

I'm sure it's the same for many, but my first exposure to the wonderful world of RPGs was Final Fantasy VII. I remember picking my copy up from Sears (yeah, there was a time when picking up a game from Sears wasn't so unheard of) not knowing how much my perception of gaming would change as a result. Now RPGs are a regular ongoing part of my gaming lifestyle, but seeing The Black Tower in action brings a bit of nostalgia for how I felt back then, and some of the mechanics that have fallen by the wayside in more modern RPGs.

As you can tell from the trailer, it isn't hard to spot the homage the game and its developers are attempting to make. Created by 2 french freelancers and 1 programmer, with the full development only starting in February, the game is a mix of turn based combat, exploration of a large overworld map complete with driveable vehicles, and a story that revolves around a mysterious black cube and its effect on main characters Yan and Ellana. You can peep the full rundown below.

The story : "In 2011, Philippe Forté found a strange alien Cube during a routine mission on the Cobalt-5 satellite, around planet Terra. Hypnotized by this discovery, as if he was being called, he risked his own life to take the dark artefact in his hands. Noone ever heard of him after these events, and Philippe Forté is now known as a crazy astronaut who sacrificed his life for an illusion. Yet, the mystery remains.
In 2032, Yan Forté is a kind of ranger and lives in the woods of Lutetia - a country of the Europa continent on Terra. He has decided that he would never walk in the steps of his father Philippe, and that he would devote his whole life on protecting Nature on his beloved planet, instead of exploring the space. Things will suddenly change after he meets Ellana, a young girl with a strange black Die as a pendant around the neck, who came out of nowhere in a cloud of yellow particles..."

The Black Tower's combat will have a 3 fighter 3 support type system, and on paper seems to be a more Suikoden type of approach (which is absolutely fine by me, as I loved Suikoden's various takes on that type of system). Hopefully we will get to see more of it in action, as it should be launching its IndieGoGo campaign very soon. At this point, I think I'm ready for a bit of nostalgia. Not just for nostalgia's sake though, but because The Black Tower looks like a genuinely fun and interesting place to spend my time in. Only time will tell. You can catch more about the game on the official dev blog here, and I'll make sure to let you know when the official campaign launches.

Oh, and no, it's not a Boatsword. (Now imagine that in Arnold voice in the vein of "its not a tumor!" and I dare you to not laugh)

Christopher Nolan in Talks For Next BOND Film

Daily Mail writer Baz Bamigboye says Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are in talks with Christopher Nolan and his people for the 24th installment in the James Bond series. While it's still very early, Nolan might have a conflict issue as he is set to be filming his next big film Interstellar soon. That being said Nolan had no problem in directing both The Prestige and Inception between installments of his Dark Knight franchise. Speaking of Inception, Nolan was actually quoted in an article back in 2011 as saying the Bond films were a huge influence on the film and even went on to say this:

I’ve loved the Bond films since I was a kid. For me, they’re always about the expansiveness of cinema. The first Bond films set up infinite possibilities about the world they create. I’d love to do a Bond film.

With Sam Mendes officially out of the running, Nolan would be a worthy substitute to follow up Skyfall, don't you agree? I would love to see what he'd do with it.

Joss Whedon on Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Iron Man in AVENGERS 2

Writer and director Joss Whedon confirmed in a recent interview with IGN that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will be included in The Avengers 2 and that Tony Stark will be back for more action. During the interview, he reveals why he's including the brother and sister act in the story saying,

You know, they had a rough beginning. They’re interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn’t necessarily agree with The Avengers. So they’re not there to make things easier. I’m not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier.

He then is asked about the return of Tony Stark's Iron Man. This next quote contains spoilers for Iron Man 3, so if you haven't seen the third film yet, then you might not want to read ahead. If you have seen it, then by all means read on...

Well, I feel like in Iron Man 3, even though he said, ‘I’ve changed' -- he blew up his remote suits, but I don’t think anybody thinks he doesn’t have one anymore. The question is, if The Avengers are called, does he show up? And the answer is, ‘Yes!’

So in case you were wondering if Iron Man was going to be back for The Avengers 2 the answer is clearly yes. It's just not clear in what capacity he'll return, or even if it will be Robert Downey Jr. Those details have yet to be revealed.

The Avengers 2 is scheduled to hit theaters May 1st, 2015.

FAST AND FURIOUS Franchise to be Spoofed in SUPERFAST!

The Fast and Furious franchise is getting its own spoof film called Superfast! The movie comes from Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer who have made all the Scary Movie films, Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, Disaster Movie, and Vampires Suck. It's safe to say that this Superfast! movie is guaranteed to end up being a piece of shit.

According to The Wrap, the movie "aims to send up the fast cars, fast women and wooden acting that has made the Fast and Furious franchise one of the most successful in Hollywood history." The movie is set up with K5 International, and here's what the co-founders had to say:

Jason and Aaron will drive audiences crazy with this latest parody. It’s a franchise that’s crying out for some high octane comedy collisions and these are the guys to get a speeding ticket doing it.

These guys have no reverse gear. They probably don’t have first or second either. This is going to be one ridiculously funny ride.

I hate that these spoof movies keep getting made. People need to stop watching them so Hollywood will finally stop making them.

Buzz Lightyear - Amazing Lifelike Character Art

Check out this amazing illustration of a real life looking Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story created by DeviantArt artist DanLuVisiArt. I absolutely love this design. The artist also came up with a background story for the character with a great twist.

As Buzz's final moment came before him, he glared into the black abyss, only capturing one last one thing: a promise he made his son:

"I will always protect and watch over you. To infinity and beyond."

Buzz was an all American hero. He worked for the Star Command Army and had been recently promoted to Staff Sgt, leading the young and brave through interstellar wars against the evil alien terrorist, Zurg.

While deep in space, Buzz's ship was pulled into a worm-hole caused by his arch-nemesis Commander Zurg. Buzz tried everything in his power to turn his ship around, but to no avail. At this point, Buzz and his crew only had one option: abandon ship.

As the ship took more damage, the rescue pods began to deplete. Buzz allowed each member to escape as he tried to give them every last minute--until finally, it was too late.

Buzz, and his cruiser, were pulled into the worm-hole, and was never seen or heard from again. Buzz was announced dead by Star Command and the world mourned for the hero that saved over two hundred lives that day. He would leave behind his beloved wife, daughter and son.

However, Buzz did not die that day. He awoke to find himself still trapped into his own ship. All in tact, and still in his suit, he tried to escape but realized he was imprisoned, bound by wires.

This would be the first day of Buzz's new life, cast away into another dimension from Zurg's worm-hole, Buzz was no longer the human he once thought he was.

For now Buzz was wrapped away as an action figure, and on his way to a birthday party for a young boy named Andy.

Buzz's very own son.

Here's the first full trailer for the new sci-fi film Europa Report which stars District 9's Sharlto Copley. The movie looks really good, and as you'll see in the trailer, it has received a lot of positive reviews. I'm excited to see how this story plays out on the big screen.

Europa Report follows a contemporary mission to Jupiter's moon Europa to investigate the possible existence of alien life within our solar system. When unmanned probes suggest that a hidden ocean could exist underneath Europa's icy surface and may contain single-celled life, Europa Ventures, a privately funded space exploration company, sends six of the best astronauts from around the world to confirm the data and explore the revolutionary discoveries that may lie in the Europan ocean. After a near-catastrophic technical failure that leads to loss of communication with Earth and the tragic death of a crewmember, the surviving astronauts must overcome the psychological and physical toll of deep space travel, and survive a discovery on Europa more profound than they had ever imagined.

The movie hits theaters on August 2nd, and also stars Michael Nyqvist, Christian Camargo, Embeth Davidtz, Dan Fogler, Anamaria Marinca, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Karolina Wydra and Daniel Wu. Enjoy the trailer!
