BATMAN: ARKHAM ORIGINS Teaser Trailer - Batman Vs. Deathstroke

0
0

Here's your first look at the highly anticipated video game Batman: Arkham Origins! It features an incredible looking cinematic sequence of Batman fighting Deathstroke. These Batman games have been so awesome, and I'm really excited to get my hands on this one. I have no doubt it's going to be just as awesome as the first two games.

Developed by WB Games Montréal, Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, the first two critically acclaimed games of the franchise. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals, the game showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, players will meet many important characters for the first time and forge key relationships.

Stay tuned for the full trailer, which hits on May 20th! The game itself comes out on October 25, 2013.

Addictional Information:

-Batman: Arkham Origins is a prequel story set during Batman's Second Year of crime-fighting. The story takes place on Christmas Eve night.

-Game developers have said that Batman is experienced but he's not the veteran crime-fighter from the first two games in the Batman: Arkham series. With the story taking place early in his career the Gotham City Police Department aren't quite sure what to make of Batman. And up till Christmas Eve, the Caped Crusader has only faced normal thugs and criminals. That all changes when Deathsroke the Terminator comes to town leading a band of mercenaries that have all been hired to kill the Batman.

-The game will include a fast travel system where Batman can summon his plane, the Batwing, to transport him to other areas of the game world quicker than gliding or grappling can allow.

-RockSteady makers of the first two video games in the Batman: Arkham series did not return for the prequel. WB Games Montréal took over developer duties but used the same modified gaming engine that their predecessor used.

- Paul Dini of Batman: The Animated Series fame also did not return as writer. The story is written by Dooma Wendschuch and Corey May who had input from Geoff Johns.

-There are unconfirmed rumors of multiplayer at this time.

- The soundtrack for the game was inspired by the 1988 action film Die Hard which also had a Christmas theme.

-Batman: Arkham Origins will be released October 25, 2013.

Brad Bird on THE INCREDIBLES 2 and Turning Down STAR WARS

The Incredibles is easily my favorite animated Pixar film, and since it was made, I have wanted to see a sequel. The movie was directed by Brad Bird who went on to direct Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and is currently developing Tomorrowland for Disney. During a recent interview with THR, Bird was asked what the chances were of us seeing a sequel to The Incredibles, and this was his reply:

I have been thinking about it. People think that I have not been, but I have. Because I love those characters and love that world. I am stroking my chin and scratching my head. I have many, many elements that I think would work really well in another [Incredibles] film, and if I can get ‘em to click all together, I would probably wanna do that.

I like the idea of moving a little more quickly in films. I’m looking for ways to accelerate the pace a little bit and figure out a way to keep creative control over these movies to a level where I’m comfortable with the end result but also speed them up a bit and make more of them. I have many different films I wanna make. It’s like a big airplane hangar and I have different projects on the floor; half-assembled in my brain. I’m interested in all of them. You kind of have to move on the ones people are willing to pay for and the ones you’re most excited about.

Hopefully one day he will get around to doing that. The director goes on to explain that he also received the offer to direct Star Wars: Episode VII but that he had to turn it down.

They did come to me. But the problem was, the schedule they had in mind made it impossible to do…unless I dropped Tomorrowland. And I was just really deeply into this film at that point. It’s easy to say, 'Just put it on hold.' But you’re moving now; you don’t know if you’re going to be able to move later. Maybe it’s true of filmmakers like Cameron or Spielberg, but I have to act on momentum. We had reached a critical mass where it would’ve thrown the furniture around from the train stopping. I really want to see this movie. I love the Star Wars films, and I can’t wait to see what J.J. does, but it meant I’d have to shut down one dream to participate in another. I feel like [with Tomorrowland] we’re making something that’s really special and unique.

I would have loved to see what Bird would have done with Star Wars, but who knows... maybe well get that chance. After all, Disney plans on making more than one and any talented director that wants a shot at one could most likely get it. Hopefully Bird gets his shot at a Star Wars film one day. I think he'd do some great things with the universe.

Damon Lindelof Discusses JUSTICE LEAGUE, STAR WARS and TOMORROWLAND

0

I enjoy Damon Lindelof's work. I like that he's a geek like the rest of us that we can relate to, only he's on the inside and gets to tell fun stories and make really cool movies. That's one of the reasons why I respect his thoughts on things going on in the film business, and why I enjoy the things he works on.

As you know, Warner Bros. has had a very hard time bringing Justice League to the big screen. In fact, they've had a hard time adapting any of their DC characters (other than Batman) as a feature film. It looks like they might have gotten Superman right with Man of Steel, but that has yet to be seen.

During a recent interview with THR, Lindelof was asked how he would solve the "Justice League problem" if Warner Bros. reached out to him for help. This was his response:

The Justice League problem? I think a lot of that depends on Man of Steel. The Justice League problem is not a problem of, who is the bad guy that Wonder Woman and Green Lantern, Superman, whoever you decide to pit them against. The problem is: What’s the tone of that movie? They’ve been struggling with launching their own tone. The tone of Green Lantern is very different from the tone of The Dark Knight. They clearly inhabit two entirely different worlds. You want to feel like someone is establishing a world where the Justice League can exist, maybe Man of Steel is that movie. If Man of Steel works, and it’s great, I think it starts to make sense where Paradise Island is in that world. Because that’s an entirely different world than the one Christopher Nolan introduced.

Lindelof was also asked about Star Wars. When asked if he's had any conversations about Star Wars with J.J. Abrams he said:

When George first sold Star Wars to Disney, J.J. was one of the first people that I reached out to. We were editing Into Darkness, so we were talking about it a lot in terms of, "Oh my God, it’s so exciting. There’s going to be a seven. What do you think that’s going to be?" Me asking, "If they come to you, would you do it?" He said, "I think there’s a billion different things that could go wrong, and I would rather just attend it as a fan. Right now, we’re working on Star Trek, and I can’t even think about Star Wars." That was his mind-set. Then, things progressed. There’s stuff I don’t want to talk about, other than to say: "I’m here, Disney. Very close to where all the decisions are being made." My attitude about Star Wars … having all these out-of-body experiences where I was like: "I can’t believe I’m in these conversations about Star Wars. I never thought that there would be a seven; and this has nothing to do with my involvement, but all these people who I am intimately associated with -- who are my partners on other projects -- there’s a very, very good chance that one of them might end up having something to do with this movie. What does that mean for me?" I didn’t know whether or not I wanted to be involved; and I didn’t know whether or not I didn’t want to be involved; but I did know that no one wanted me to be involved. When the news first broke that Disney was going to do it, two hours into it people were already tweeting, "Just keep Damon Lindelof away from it." It was like: "Why would they even say that? Let’s just embrace the fact that there’s going to be a seven." When I saw that, I started realizing that it would be a lose-lose for me. Although it would be the experience of a lifetime -- to play in that universe, which is entirely responsible for me being here right now -- it wasn’t going to be on seven. The good news was it feels like Disney is going to own Star Wars for a very long time, and hopefully I’ll be writing for a couple of more years. If not seven, maybe eight or nine; that’s what I started telling myself. In the meantime, no one ever asked. Disney hasn’t; J.J. hasn’t; as soon as I saw those tweets, on the day, I started telling everyone I knew that I didn’t want to do it, and couldn’t do it. So I closed that door, lest I face the possibility that nobody will open it for me. God forbid someone actually said, "I want you to be involved in this." I honest to God don’t know how I could ever say no to that.

When it comes to the new project he's working on right now with Disney, Tomorrowland, all he was willing to give them is:

What I will say is: The beginning of it for me was when I had lunch with [president of production] Sean Bailey and [vp development] Brigham Taylor at Disney right around the time … I was already working on Prometheus, so it was at some point in late 2010. I was like: "What is a Disney movie? What kind of movies do you want to make here?" As much as I was enjoying Prometheus, I had the desire to do something original -- to not do Star Trek or Iron Man 3. Those were all offers I was getting for obvious reasons: Because I was looked at as a genre guy. I love to be looked at as a genre guy because I am a genre guy. He kicked it back to me and said, "What do you think a Disney movie is?" And I said Pirates of the Caribbean; when I first heard Disney was making that movie, I was like come on; it’s a theme park ride. That just seems lame. Then I saw the trailer, and I was like, "OK, I’ll be there." I love that movie. The first one is just fantastic. I was like, "Pirates of the Caribbean. To me, that’s the perfect Disney movie. Duh. It’s made you guys billions of dollars." But it’s like, you take something in the parks, and you think you know what it’s going to be, but there’s a lot more malleability that you think that there is because you get to do a totally original story, inhabited by totally original characters underneath the banner of something that feels completely and totally familiar to everybody. But if I told you I was writing a story called Tomorrowland, you would go, "Oh, what’s that going to be about?" in a good way because that’s really evocative of all these awesome things." He just looked at me. That led to a meeting with he and Brig and I. Then that meeting led to me hiring Jeff Jensen to help me understand more about the history of the Walt Disney Co. and the theme park as it pertained to Walt splitting off from Disney and starting WED, which was his own black ops version separate from the company -- while he was still running the company. I enjoy Lindelofs work. I like that he's a geek like the rest of us that we can relate to, only he's on the inside, and gets to make really cool movies and tell awesome stories. That's one of the reasons why I respect his thoughts on things going on in the film business, and why I enjoy the things he works on.

There's a lot more to read up on in the actual interview, so check it out when you get a chance!

PACIFIC RIM - Massive Main Trailer!

This past weekend, Warner Bros. premiered a new trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim at the Hero Complex Film Festival. We were fortunate enough to be there to watch the incredibly awesome trailer. It is now online and available for the world to see! It's packed full with badass new footage of massive Jaeger robots locked in battle the Kaiju monsters!

On July 12th we can finally join the battle! You're going to love this new trailer!

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes — a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

J.J. Abrams gets STAR WARS Advice from Jimmy Kimmel Audience

J.J. Abrams appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" last night to promote Star Trek: Into Darkness, which was an awesome movie by the way. While there, Kimmel allowed a few of his audience members and die-hard Star Wars fans to give Abrams some advice on what he should include in Star Wars: Episode VII. There's also a couple of great guest appearances that are sure to put a smile on your face. Enjoy!

Samuel L. Jackson Will Train Teens to Kill in BARELY LETHAL

It seems like the only movies we've seen Samuel L. Jackson in over the last few years have been Marvel movies. Well, he's now going to use those S.H.I.E.L.D. skills to train teenagers how to be assassins in his next film Barely Lethal

Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) is set to play a 16-year-old international assassin named Megan who is raised at a boarding school that trains kids to be assassins. She has a quirky sense of humor but is clueless about normal life. She ends up faking her own death and enrolls as a senior in a suburban high school, where she discovers dealing with popularity is just as hard as living life as an assassin. Jackson will play her mentor who trains her in the program.

Kyle Newman (Fanboys) is directing the film from a script written by John D’Arco. This sounds like a fun concept, and I hope it turns out good. I thought Fanboys was great, and this film should give Newman a chance to show everyone what he's got.

New Poster for TRUE BLOOD Season 6

HBO has released a new poster for True Blood Season 6, which is set to premiere on Sunday, June 16th at 9 p.m. I just finished getting caught up on season 5, and it looks like we're in for another wild season of supernatural craziness. If you haven't watched the trailer for the new season yet, I've included it below.

Are you excited for the next season of TRUE BLOOD?

Based on the popular Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris, the Emmy-nominated hit drama series was created by Alan Ball, creator of HBO's Emmy-winning series "Six Feet Under." The show follows waitress and part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people's thoughts, vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard).

Frank Miller's HARD BOILED Is Getting a Feature Film Adaptation

0

It looks like Frank Miller's comic book Hard Boiled is finally going to make its way to the big screen! Way back in 2001, David Fincher was attached to direct an adaptation of comic with Nicolas Cage in the lead role, but it never happened. It sure would have been interesting to see Fincher's take on it. The last thing we heard about the project was that Miller was going to direct it himself after he was finished with Sin City 2, but it looks like that isn't happening either.

During a recent interview with Bleeding Cool, South African director Mukunda Michael Dewil revealed that he's going to adapt it. You might not be familiar with Dewil yet, but he directed the film Vehicle 19, which is the other car movie that Paul Walker stars in. It has yet to be released. Anyway, here's what the director had to say:

I’m adapting Frank Miller’s comic book called Hard Boiled with Stephen L’Heureux from Solipsist films. They just did Sin City 2 and they own a lot of Frank’s comics. That’s a very big project that’s going be out to market in a couple of weeks… it’s quite a big deal. We’re kind of pumped for that.

It's not clear on if he will write it, direct it, or both. We'll just have to wait and see how that all plays out. I hope Miller doesn't end up directing; I hated what he did with The Spirit. Dewil is a step up from the Miller, but a lot of steps downs from Fincher.

Hard Boiled follows on a guy named Carl Seltz, "a suburban insurance investigator, a loving husband, and devoted father. Nixon is a berserk, homicidal tax collector racking up mind-boggling body counts in a diseased urban slaughterhouse. Unit Four is the ultimate robot killing machine - and the last hope of the future's enslaved mechanical servants. And they're all the same psychotic entity."

Have you read the comic, and are you excited to see it get adapted into a movie?

The Most Complicated Board Game Ever - Comedy Sketch

I'm not a big fan of board games. I even dread having to play them with my kids. Ever since video games came into my life with Atari and Nintendo, I never saw the point of ever going back to playing board games. People still have fun playing them though! I don't get it, but to each their own.

No game I've ever played before looks as excruciatingly painful as the one portrayed in this hilarious comedy sketch from RhettandLink called the Most Complicated Board Game Ever. It really is quite ridiculous, but that's what I love about it! What's funny, is even though this isn't real, the guy in the green shirt represent how I feel whenever I play any board game. Enjoy the show!

CABIN IN THE WOODS Director to Helm Sci-Fi Thriller THE MARTIAN

Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard is in talks to write and direct a feature film adaptation of the sci-fi thriller The Martian. The film is based on an e-book written by Andy Weir, and the story revolves around an astronaut stranded on Mars who must find a way to survive and get back home.

The Wrap describes the film as a cross between Apollo 13 and Cast Away. This sounds like a pretty damn terrifying situation to be in. Here's a details synopsis from the book:

I’m pretty much f**ked.

That’s my considered opinion.

F**ked.

Six days into what should be the greatest two months of my life, and it’s turned into a nightmare. I don’t even know who’ll read this. I guess someone will find it eventually. Maybe 100 years from now. For the record… I didn’t die on Sol 6. Certainly the rest of the crew thought I did, and I can’t blame them. Maybe there’ll be a day of national mourning for me, and my Wikipedia page will say “Mark Watney is the only human being to have died on Mars.” And it’ll be right, probably. Cause I’ll surely die here. Just not on Sol 6 when everyone thinks I did. Let’s see…where do I begin?

I love this concept, and it sounds like it has potential to be a great film. Goddard is a talented writer and director, and it will be interesting to see who they cast in the lead role. I'll be looking forward to seeing how this film comes together.

CW's Wonder Woman Series AMAZON is Still in Development

0
0

In case you were wondering what's been going on with CW's Wonder Woman series Amazon, some of you will be happy to hear that it's actually still in development. The network is just taking their time with it, and it's currently in the process of being redeveloped.

While talking to reporters recently, CW President Mark Pedowitz emphasized that the series is still very much a part of the network's future plans. Here's what he said when asked about it:

Oh God yes. It is being redeveloped. We're waiting for the script to come in. We have not seen it yet. We are preparing to pilot it off-cycle should the script be what we want it to be. We do not want to produce something that doesn't work for that particular character. It is the trickiest of all the DC characters to get done.

The series was previously said to focus on Wonder Woman as a "young, budding superhero, rather than a fully formed defender of liberty. (Think Smallville, but instead of a 'no tights, no flights' rule, this show might have a 'no bracelets, no crown' mandate.)"

We also have a previously released description of the series that you can check out here.

She comes from a remote, secluded country and until now has spent most of her life as a soldier and a leader on the battlefield. Because of relentless brutality of her life at home, Iris looks at our world with absolute awe and astonishment. She’s delighted and just as often horrified by the aspects of everyday life that we take for granted: skyscrapers, traffic, ice cream. It’s all new and fascinating and sometimes slightly troubling to her. Iris is completely unschooled in our world, our culture, our customs. And she’s completely inexperienced at interpersonal relationships. She has no social filter, does not suffer fools, and tends to do and say exactly what’s on her mind at all times. She’s bluntly, refreshingly honest. She can tell when you’re lying to her. And she doesn’t have time or patience for politics or tact because she’s too busy trying to experience everything our world has to offer. There are too many sights to see and things to learn and people to care for. Hers is a true, noble, and generous heart. And she will fight and die for the people she loves. Iris is a fierce warrior with the innocent heart of a romantic and she will fight to the death to make the world safe for innocents and true romantics everywhere.

Since they're redeveloping the series I have no idea how much of this stuff will be included, but I imagine it will have the same tone. I guess we'll see. Hopefully the CW can pull it off!

Karl Urban Says There Is Still Hope for DREDD 2!

Last year, director Peter Travis and screenwriter Alex Garland brought Judge Dredd fans a cool hard-R take on the character to the big screen called Dredd. The movie turned out to be great. For the most part, fans were happy with what the movie had to offer. It got positive reviews, but for some reason general audiences didn't embrace it. $45 million was spent making the film. Unfortunately, it only made $35.6 million worldwide. Because of that, I thought for sure that the prospect for a sequel was dead and buried. Apparently that's not the case! In a recent interview with Collider, Karl Urban revealed that there's still hope for Dredd 2!

Interestingly enough, I did have breakfast with Alex Garland this morning.  It’s not off the agenda.  Clearly everyone has woken up to the fact that an audience has found this movie and loves it.  It’s entirely possible, and if people want to see another installment then they should be vocal about that, because, it can happen. The power of fandom can resurrect projects. In fact, that’s what happened with Star Trek. They weren’t going to do a third season until fans did a letter writing campaign and they continued that series.

I would love to see another Dredd film! I hope that it happens one day. Even though Urban says there's hope it can happen it's not going to happen for a long time.

Do you want to see DREDD 2 happen? Do you think they'll try to Kickstart it?

HULK AND THE AGENTS OF S.M.A.S.H Animated Series Promo

Marvel has released their first promo video for their new animated series Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. The video includes our first look at footage from the series, and an interview with the voice of The Hulk, Fred Tatasciore, who explains the concept for the show. The promo also confirms that its made like a reality TV show where the Hulks talk and explain things to the audience. I'm not really a big fan of that format, but I guess someone over there thought it was a good idea. I guess we'll see how it turns out. I'm sure we'll see more footage soon that gives us a better idea of what the show will be like.

In Marvel's Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., Hulk has long fought alone to protect a world that sees him as a monster, but his friend Rick Jones has taken it upon himself to film the world-saving exploits of Big Green and his team to change that image. In this never before seen team up of Hulk, his cousin She-Hulk, A-Bomb, Red Hulk and Skaar, Marvel's mightiest super heroes form an eccentric family living under one roof, working together to tackle threats that are too enormous for other heroes to handle. From trying to house break their giant red pet T-Rex to stopping Ego the Living Planet from crashing into the Earth, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. must learn to balance Hulk-sized action with everyday family-sized problems.

Check out the promo, and let us know if you're looking forward to watching this.

Sylvester Stallone Says EXPENDABLES 3 Can Top THE RAID

0
0

Sylvester Stallone took to his Twitter account recently and offered a bunch of updates on The Expendables 3. He confirms some casting and reveals where they are looking for inspiration. I think you're going to like what he has to say.

Here are the tweets he sent out:

Scouting eastern Europe and Asia ...we are going all out on this one ... Could be a big surprise!!

What's the plan? Ask Jackie Chan....

Thinking about Raiding, THE RAID....think about it...

We believe we can do better than the RAID, which was an excellent film... Raising the bar...

Mighty Mickey is back............

Talked to WESLEY today ... He can not WAIT to fight to the top again !!!!!!! Over...

So he's confirmed Jackie Chan, Mickey Rourke, and Wesley Snipes will be in the movie. The most interesting part of this to me though is that he thinks they can do a better action film than The Raid. Really? That would be a huge accomplishment because I consider The Raid one of the great action films ever made. If you've seen The Raid, do you really think Stallone and his team can top it? Regardless, I'm still excited to see a third Expendables!

The movie will be directed by Patrick Hughes (Red Hill). The cast of the previous film also included Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Nan Yu, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. It has yet to be seen who else will return.

Red-Band Trailer for THE HANGOVER Part III

0
0

I was wondering when we'd see a red-band trailer of The Hangover Part III, and now here it is. Warner Bros. has given us another trailer that fans of the franchise are sure to love. The trailer gives us a little recap of the two films that lead us into the final chapter of the Wolfpack adventure. It also includes a lot of new footage from the movie.

It’s been two years. Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and Doug (Justin Bartha) are happily living uneventful lives at home. Tattoos have been lasered off, files purged. The last they heard from disaster-magnet Leslie Chow (Ken Jeong), he’d been tossed into a Thai prison and, with him out of the way, the guys have very nearly recovered from their nights prowling the seamy side of Las Vegas in a roofie’d haze, and being kidnapped, shot at, and chased by drug- dealing mobsters in Bangkok.

The only member of the Wolfpack who’s not content is Alan (Zach Galifianakis). Still lacking a sense of purpose, the group’s black sheep has ditched his meds and given in to his natural impulses in a big way-which, for Alan, means no boundaries, no filters and no judgment-until a personal crisis forces him to finally seek the help he needs.

And who better than his three best friends to make sure he takes the first step. This time, there’s no bachelor party. No wedding. What could possibly go wrong? But when the Wolfpack hits the road, all bets are off.

One way or another…it all ends here.

It comes out on May 23rd!

THE DARK TOWER Adaptation Update - Things are Looking Good!

0
0

Brian Grazier, Ron Howard, and Akiva Goldsman have been hard at work trying to get a big screen adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower series into production for years. They had two failed attempts with Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. in which the plan was to make three feature films with two TV series to tell a more detailed story and tie the films together.

The last thing we heard was that Media Rights Capital stepped into to finance one film, and then see how it does before they commit to the rest. That version has Russell Crowe set to star in the film as Roland Deschain. That plan is still in play, but it looks like another offer is now on the table.

Grazer recently revealed to Deadline that he has "just been approached by a Silicon Valley investor willing to finance Dark Tower as originally constructed. Now it’s a matter of deciding what path to take." This is great news! As the original construction included the three films and two TV seasons. That sounds like a much better deal than what they had with MCR! From my point of view, it's the perfect opportunity, but you never know what the details are behind the situation. If they're good, then I don't see why they wouldn't take it.

Either way, there's still interest in getting these books adapted, and it's eventually going to happen. I've been waiting years for this to happen, so I'm extremely excited for the good news.

Chloe Moretz and Asa Butterfield will be reteaming for the film The White Circus, which is being executive produced by Terry Gilliam. The film will be a dark fairy tale that has been described as an "adventure-romance that takes place on a snowy New Year’s Eve, when a young pilot crashes his plane into a war-torn town on his first mission. There, he falls in love with a beautiful cabaret singer, befriends a talking circus bear and incites the townsfolk to liberate themselves from a despot."

The movie is being helmed by first time feature film directors Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski, who were described by producer Gregoire Melin as being "worthy heirs of Gilliam, Jim Henson and Tim Burton," adding that "their work boasts an ever bigger crossover appeal while being smart and innovative." They directed the Oscar-nominated animated short Madame Tutli-Putli, which you can watch below. It will give you a taste of their very unique style.

I'm actually really excited to see what they end up doing with this Circus film. Moretz and Butterfield were great together in Martin Scorsese's Hugo, and it will be cool to see them back together. The movie is set to start shooting in Germany and Serbia in February 2014.
