Here's a fun conversation about Star Wars between J.J. Abrams and Simon Pegg. As you know, they are both big fans of the franchise, so it's cool to listen to them talk about their first experiences with the legendary movie. There's no Star Wars: Episode VII news included in the conversation, but it's still interesting to listen to these two guys talk about it. Check it out!

Check out this great subway style map created by David Honnorat called The Best Movies of All Time Map. It presents these movies on tracks that represent various film genres like sci-fi, comedy, drama, animation, romance, horror, action, and more. I love this, especially how the movies and genres intersect with each other. This is pretty big, so click it to see it in all its glory.

Michael Caine Reteams with Christopher Nolan for INTERSTELLAR

Dark Knight Rises, Prestige, and Inception co-star Michael Caine is going to reteam with Christopher Nolan for the director's sci-fi film project Interstellar

He joins Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, and Anne Hathaway. All we know about the story so far, is that it's based on the scientific theories developed by Cal Tech physicist, Kip Thorne, and that the story follows a group of explorers who travel through a wormhole. It's also previously been described as "a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding."

This casting isn't a surprising piece of news since Caine has been in Nolan's past five films. There's no information on whom he'll play but, like always, he'll be great.

Bryan Singer has tweeted out another photo from the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past giving us our first look at Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde. It doesn't look like she's aged at all.

The movie also stars Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Hugh Jackman, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, and Boo Boo Stewart. It's set to be released on July 18th, 2014.

The film is based on the comic book storyline "Days of Future Past," which ran in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 back in 1981 during Chris Claremont and John Byrne's run and introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel's mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.

Awesome Poster Art for Original STAR TREK Films

Check out this great series of Star Trek movie poster art created Matt Ferguson. The posters represent the first six original Star Trek movies that include Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

The Wrath of Khan is the favorite Star Trek film of everyone I know. Do any of you like any of the other Star Trek movies more?

I’m a life long Trekkie and a dream project for me would be to create posters for the original crew films (including the reboots). I wanted to make a set of posters that had a uniform size and composition while still staying true to each individual films themes and story.

About the first poster: I have always loved the sense of adventure in The Motion Picture and the model effects work is some of my favourite ever, so I wanted to carry that through into my poster. I thought it would be cool to show the magnitude of V’ger by having Ilia and the V’ger ship dwarf the Enterprise and her crew, and then to tie it altogether the Enterprise replaces the red crystal that is on Ilia’s neck.

The Wrath Of Khan is my personal favorite Star Trek film so it was a daunting task for me to create a poster for it. I did create a Khan poster several years ago, but I was always unhappy with how it turned out… this was a perfect opportunity for me to revisit the film and go at the poster all guns blazing!

The title says it all and for me to be happy with the poster I had to really get Khans likeness perfect. I wanted him to be menacing while also showing no emotion on his face, so in order to achieve this I had to concentrate on his eyes. It took a lot of work and revisions but I am finally happy with how it turned out!

The Search For Spock is probably the best of the “odd” numbered Trek films (but I really love them all!!). I have always loved the operatic scale of the film and the fact that Kirk had the brass balls to blow the Enterprise up. Without a doubt I knew I had to paint the Enterprise falling to her demise. I wanted to get the Genesis planet into the composition as well as it is the central location to the film. Also on this one I was oddly influenced by the classic posters for Rosemary’s Baby and Empire Of The Sun!

“There be Whales here!” Star Trek IV is a very different movie to the rest of the films in the series, but I still wanted my poster to fit with my posters as a whole. With this in mind I thought it best to concentrate on the elements of peril in the film by showing the crashing Bird Of Prey. I also needed to hint at elements of the plot, for example, this film is more earthbound and has Whales! I had great fun watching the film again, what a caper!

I have always thought the much maligned Final Frontier is actually a pretty decent Trek film. I remember really enjoying the interaction between the central trio of Kirk, Bones and Spock when I was a kid and I always loved the campfire scene. So I thought this poster was a good opportunity for me to do my own version of that and of course add in “The Final Frontier” of the title in the starry night sky! The one question you have to ask yourself is… Why is Captain Kirk climbing the mountain??

The swan song and final proper Original Crew Star Trek film. I love everything about this film it hits all the right notes. For my poster I thought back to when I first watched The Undiscovered Country at the cinema years and years ago and I really remember loving the energy wave from the Praxis explosion… so that’s what I painted! Also it gave me chance to put in Mr Sulu’s ship the USS Excelsior!

I just want to say that this has been one of my favourite ever artistic endeavours and a real passion project for me. I am a life long Trekkie and it has been making me so happy to see the reaction my art has had online. Thank you to everyone who has blogged and tweeted about it!

Zoe Saldana on Her Role as Gamora in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Star Trek Into Darkness star Zoe Saldana recently talked about the character that she'll be playing in Guardians of the Galaxy, Gamora. I just assumed since the character she plays is an alien that she would get a CGI motion capture makeover, but in a recent interview with Total Film she reveals that she'll actually sport the green body makeup. She seems excited to be a part of it, and I'm sure she'll be great in the role!

In the comics, Gamora is the adopted daughter of the supervillain Thanos, and she's the last of her species. I'm not sure if they plan on changing that up for the film, but her powers include superhuman strength and agility with an accelerated healing factor.

The plan is to start shooting the movie this June, and it will be released in theaters on August 1st, 2014.

As we continue the Star Wars celebration weekend, the team over at Stunt People have made a sequel to their Darth Vader point of view Lightsaber battle called Vader Strikes Back. The fight sequences are pretty cool.

Luke Evans Set to Play THE CROW

After rumors of James McAvoy, Tom Hiddleston, and Alexander Skarsgard taking on the lead role of Eric Draven in The Crow remake, Relativity Media has ended up casting Luke Evans in the movie. Evans starred in The Immortals, plays the villain in Fast & Furious 6, Bard the Bowman in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and was just cast as Dracula in Dracula Year Zero.

Out of everyone that's been recently rumored to have the role, I think he might be the best choice. This time around James O'Barr's gothic comic book will be directed by F. Javier Gutierrez. The story follows a man brutally murdered who comes back to life as an undead avenger of his and his fiancée’s murder.

Whether you like it or not, a new Crow movie has willed itself into existence. All we can do know is hope that it turns out good.

What do you think about Evans playing The Crow?

DC Comics Reveals HE-MAN's Ridiculous New Look

Like many of you, I grew up watching He-Man and playing with the Masters of the Universe action figures. The guy was a badass. Unfortunately, DC Comics has redesigned the character and turned him into a ridiculous looking fresh-faced asshole.

The head and face of the new character design doesn't even match the rest of his body for cryin' out loud! What in the hell did they do to He-Man? I can't believe they signed off on this crap. Obviously I'm not a big fan of it, but what do you think?

By the Power of Grayskull, He-Man is back. Earlier this month, fans were excited about the launch of HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, a new ongoing monthly series by writer Keith Giffen and artist Pop Mhan. This is just the newest piece of good news for the Masters of the Universe; in 2012 MOTU had a #1 iPad action game and the Facebook page is up 25% in six months from word-of-mouth!

Hitting stores in July, HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE #4 will find He-Man captured by Despara, who is ordered to bring him before Hordak. But that’s not the only reason to be excited about issue #4. The issue’s cover by Ed Benes will also introduce He-Man’s new look for DC Comics!

In the epic war against the forces of Hordak ripping through the pages of the current series, He-Man must don the sacred armor of his ancestors. While fans may be surprised by this turn of events, this dynamic direction for one of the world’s best-known heroes is firmly rooted in the classic legacy of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE. After all, so long as you stay true to the core concepts, it’s always exciting to explore new possibilities, right?

Check out the image below to get your first glance at He-Man’s new look, and don’t forget to pick up this exciting new series, in stores now!

9 Clips from FAST AND FURIOUS 6!

Universal has released nine new film clips from Fast and Furious 6! It doesn't look like they're going to save anything for the movie before they release it. They might as well just release the whole movie online! As you might expect, some of these clips do contain SPOILERS, and it looks like they might have included some of the best scenes from the movie. I watched them all, and after having watched them, I'm still way excited to see this movie! It's going to be ridiculous!

The Justin Lin-directed film stars Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Elsa Pataky, and Luke Evans. The movie hits theaters on May 24th. Enjoy the clips if you decide to watch them.

Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian's (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin's empire and left their crew with$100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.

Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.

The movie stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Russell Crowe, Michael Kelly, Harry Lennix and Richard Schiff.

Man of Steel hits theaters on June 14th! I'm so excited to see for myself if this movie lives up to the hype I've been hearing. Do you think it will?

Mark Hamill Talks All Things STAR WARS

$

Over the weekend, the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, CA held a special screening of Return of the Jedi on May the 4th. Mark Hamill made a surprise appearance and  ended up talking about his experience being a part of Star Wars, and also talked a little bit about Star Wars: Episode VII.

AICN was there to give us a little rundown on what went on and what Hamill had to say. The actor said he doesn't know any specifics on the new Star Wars movie, and since Disney bought Lucasfilm, he's only had one meeting with Kathleen Kennedy. In that meeting, he expressed his desire to have "a more balanced approach to the effects." He said that she agreed with him on that point and that they've already talked to George Lucas about it. That's a good sign! It's what the fans all want. He then said...

Part of me is cautious, saying 'let well enough alone, let everyone keep their nice memories if they have nice memories and don't try to go back and do it again.' But the other side of me, the adventerous side, thinks 'If everyone's in, how could I miss this?'

I'm one of you, I feel like you're one of us. I'll be in there fighting and trying to be as honest as I can be about what I think it is made these movies so special in the first place. It always starts with the script and that's why I'm so encouraged by Michael Arndt's involvement because I respect his writing so much. He's a big fan of these movies, so hopefully we can make something that doesn't make everyone want to find us, cut off our heads and throw it right in our faces.

Hamill went on to confirm that he knows Carrie Fisher is 100% in, has heard Harrison Ford is on board as well, but he hasn't talked to him personally to confirm it. He then revealed that he hasn't met with J.J. Abrams yet. I'm sure Hamill is eventually going to jump on board if he hasn't already, I think it will be weird if everyone other than him from the original cast ends up in the movie. As for what he wants to see in his role and the younger cast that will take over the franchise, he said:

I want it to be age appropriate, so heavy on the Jedi mind tricks and lighten up on the lightsaber duels. Let the kids do the heavily lifting!

I guess he's not as mobile as he used to be. It's all good though, I'm sure he'll make a great old Jedi. Here are a few other points that Hamill brought up during the Q&A. To see them all, head on over to AICN!

  • Hamill said he talked to Lucas back in the day about why he started with the middle trilogy. First off, Lucas originally wanted to do 4 trilogies (12 movies), but pared it down to 3 trilogies (9 movies). Why start in the middle then? “Even then I realized that if these things were to go forward that the technology would improve and that by the time we had gone back in time the special effects would give it away, that they were much more technologically advanced than what we were doing. He said, 'Well, this trilogy is the most commercial.' I said, 'Oh, okay.'”
  • He also had a few knocks to throw at Jedi, despite his obvious admiration of the film and the work of everybody involved. Hamill was brought in to do wardrobe tests before he read the script and he noted he was wearing all black. He considered the fact that he's got a robot hand, they're putting him in all black outfits... he thought Luke was going to fall to the dark side and that was how they were going to top the big reveal at the end of Empire, but showing Luke severely tempted by the dark side (maybe even to the point of killing one of the group), but coming around at the end. “I thought a great fake-out would be to make the audience believe that I went awry and at the last possible moment save either Carrie or Harrison from death and that would be the twist. So I was disappointed when I read (the Jedi script). I was like, “Really? A second Death Star? Really? That's the plot?”
  • “To be fair, if George had known from the beginning he was going to do three movies he would have saved the destruction of the Death Star for the third movie.”
  • Empire Strikes Back is Hamill's favorite Star Wars film and told the story about how the script and line-readings on the day of the big reveal were “Obi-Wan killed your father.” Only Lucas, Irvin Kershner and Hamill knew the real ending and Hamill only knew when Kershner pulled him aside to tell him. It was a good thing they did that with the on-set line reading because 2 days after they shot the scene the UK's The Sun had a front page headline that read “Guinness Head Baddie In Star Wars 2.” Even Harrison Ford didn't know until the premiere.
  • Hamill never doubted that Vader was telling the truth like a lot of fans did. He always thought the twist was the real deal. “What I thought was a lie was when they said that Leia was my sister. I said, 'Oh, come on.' I mean, really! This seems like a lame attempt to top the Vader thing, you know what I'm saying? Why not have Boba Fett remove his helmet, shake out some beautiful hair and 'Oh, my God! It's mom! She's been a double agent all these years!'”
  • He also had issues with Boba Fett's exit from the films. “It just didn't seem right. They built him up, he was so awesome and he has that great costume and Jeremy Bulloch did such a great job. Really, you just flip a switch on his backpack? It just seemed like it was a missed opportunity.”
  • Hamill remembers finding a memo to Lucas from the Fox execs on the first film suggesting he put a pair of lederhosen on Chewbacca. “They said, 'Do you realize he has no pants on?' I said, 'Wow, if that's what they're worried about we're in serious trouble.' And they didn't like the title Star Wars. They said 'We've done polls and 38% of women ages 18-49 don't like films with the word “Wars” in the title.'”
  • Told an Empire story about feeling uneasy about hurting the Wampa too badly. The focus on Luke in that sequence (hanging upside down, reaching for the lightsaber, etc) was all second unit. “I said to them 'Look, when I make this swipe camera right with my saber, I'm just nicking this creature, right?Because he's not evil, he's just hungry! I don't want to hurt him. He's like a big grizzly bear or something.' They said, 'Yeah, yeah. You're just nicking him and he'll back off.' Nine months later I'm in a theater and not only do I hurt him, I cut his arm off! They completely lied to me about that!”

I freakin' love the Star Wars franchise, and I couldn't be more excited to see what Abrams is going to give us in Episode VII!

You've got to check out this epic footage from Free Radical's canceled Star Wars: Battlefront III. This game looks like it would have been incredible, and I'm pretty damn disappointed that we'll never get the chance to play it. The footage you see below comes from DSO Gaming, who notes that the video you see here was the phase in which the game was in when it had been canceled by LucasArts, which was later shut down by Disney. This video is the closest thing we'll ever get to playing this game... so sad.

Marvel Excited About Exploring HULK Solo Movie Options

$

The Avengers introduced us to a Hulk character that we all finally loved, and now we're all just waiting to see what Marvel ends up doing with him next. It's already been revealed that the next time we see him in action will be in The Avengers 2. But what about another solo Hulk movie? It's eventually going to happen, and Marvel president Kevin Feige revealed to EW that they are excited about exploring the solo Hulk movie options,

There's no script in the works or anything, but we are talking about it. All the Hulk energy right now is on Avengers 2, but Mark Ruffalo is signed up [for more films]. What we're excited about exploring and expanding is Mark - and Bruce Banner is not in Planet Hulk at all. The fun of Hulk is his interaction with humans.

Maybe we'll see a new Hulk movie late in phase three or early in phase four of Marvel's master plan. We know that Ant-Man will definitely be a part of phase three, and I'm sure Marvel will end up officially announcing Doctor Strange and maybe Black Panther next. Feige went on to talk about Strange a little bit as well saying,

Within the next year or so we'll really start the advanced planning on post - Avengers 2, and I would love Strange to be a part of that. There's a whole supernatural/magic dimension going on in Marvel comics that we haven't ever touched on.

What other movies do you think Marvel will announce for Phase three? What movie would you like to see happen?
