Major Character Returns for THE WALKING DEAD Season 4 - Spoilers

$

If you haven't watched the season finale of The Walking Dead yet, don't read any further because the fact that a certain character is coming back for season 4 could be considered a SPOILER.

Before I get into who is coming back, I just want to say that I was disappointed in the season finale. This whole season has been leading up to a crazy confrontation between Rick's group and The Governor's group, and the whole build up just fizzled out at the end! We were waiting for the big explosion only to have someone put out the fuse. I was let down; I consider it to be the worst episode of Season 3.

The Governor survived and ran away, and THR confirms that David Morrissey will be back to reprise his role in Season 4.The character doesn't survive the prison showdown in the comic, but as you all know the TV series is very different from the comic. I think most of us thought we were going to get a brutal showdown at the prison that left the Governor dead, but obviously that's not what happened.

Looking on the bright side of things, Morrissey is a magnificent actor, The Governor is a fantastic great character, and hopefully they can make up for that lame season 3 finale.

If you watched last night's episode, what did you think of how the season ended?

TRON: LEGACY Sequel Update from Joseph Kosinski

Director Joseph Kosinski was at WonderCon this weekend promoting his cool looking sci-fi film Oblivion, and while there he gave a little update on what's currently going on with his Tron: Legacy sequel currently being developed. Here's what he had to say...

We've been working on the story for four years now. The first draft, Jesse Wigutow is writing it, is supposed to come in the next couple of weeks so the idea we have is really exciting. It has to be pretty exciting enough to get everyone back together.

Those are pretty hard movies to make. Legacy was almost three years. We got a really exciting idea for it. As long as the script can kind of deliver on that -- the interest is there on the studio side. It's going to have enough creative juices to have in order to dive back in. We got some exciting ideas -- so we'll see.

It's good to hear that the project is moving forward and that everyone, including the studio, is interested in making it! I really want this sequel to happen, there are so many cool directions they could take the story. I'm excited to see what they will end up giving us. It was previously reported that they'll be doing a complete visual overhaul on the look of the digital world, which should be interesting to see.

The director went on to say that not only is he working on the new Tron film, but he's also still developing the remake of the 1979 Disney film Black Hole.

Check out this interesting dark comedy short film called Free Pie. It truly is hard to describe; it's very strange and full of awkward intense moments, which is what makes it so good. The short was directed by Caleb Slain, and it's described as  "a traumatic comedy about life, death, pie and death." I'm not even sure this is a comedy-- the whole pie thing just throws you off and makes this intense conversation kind of funny. Watch the short for yourself and let us know whether you liked it or not!

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming drama Greetings From Tim Buckley, which is based on the rise of musical artist Jeff Buckley. Buckley was a very talented musician whose life was cut short when he died unexpectedly at the age of 30 in 1997. The movie was directed by Dan Algrant (People I Know, Naked in New York), and it stars Penn Badgely (Gossip Girl) as Jeff; Imogen Poots as Buckley's love interest, Allie; and Ben Rosenfield as Jeff's dad, Tim. The movie looks fantastic and everyone looks like they do a terrific job. I'm a fan of Buckley's music, and I'm looking forward to seeing this. Here's the synopsis for the film...

In 1991, a young Jeff Buckley rehearses for his public singing debut at a Brooklyn tribute show for his father, the late folk singer Tim Buckley. Struggling with the legacy of a man he barely knew, Jeff forms a friendship with an enigmatic young woman (Imogen Poots) working at the show and begins to discover the powerful potential of his own musical voice. Greetings from Tim Buckley is filled with stirring musical performances and the memorable songs of a father and son who were each among the most beloved singer/songwriters of their respective generations. A presentation of Focus World, the alternative distribution label of Focus Features, and Tribeca Film.

Greetings from Tim Buckley will be released on VOD on April 16th, followed by a limited theatrical release on May 3rd. Are you familiar with Buckley's music, and are you looking forward to seeing this movie?

Peter Jackson's STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII Easter Egg

Unless you were paying really freakin' close attention to that preview for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, you probably missed the Star Wars: Episode VIII Easter Egg that Jackson threw in there! At the 4:51 mark, Jackson went to grab some concept art and in the process briefly showed what seems to be the cover of a script or treatment for Star Wars: Episode VIII.

This could just be a perfectly timed April Fools' joke from Jackson, at the same time, you never know! I could easily see Jackson taking on a star Wars movie somewhere down the road. If it's going to be Episode VIII... awesome!

To watch the video again click here. It's right there, this isn't a photoshop job. Thanks to the eagle eyes of  for pointing this out to us!

So what do you think? Did Jackson take the opportunity to mess around with the fans, or do you think there's actually something to this? Do you think he could be involved with Star Wars: Episode VIII?

Here's another awesomely hilarious red-band trailer for the new Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg film This Is the End! This movie is going to deliver an insane amount of great comedy. I've enjoyed everything I've seen from it, and this new trailer has a ton of great new footage of celebrities getting crazy at James Franco's party before the end of the world hits. I love that Michael Cera is being portrayed as a dick.

The film also stars Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, Jay BaruchelJason Segel, Rihanna, Kevin Hart, Martin Star, Emma Watson, and Aziz Ansari, some of whom you'll see die in this trailer! This is sure to make you laugh, there's lots of entertaining comedic violence.

The comedy This Is The End follows six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside. Eventually, they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.

The great looking comedy hits theaters on June 14th, 2013! Enjoy the red-band trailer!

Billy Crudup, Anton Yelchin, and Laurence Fishburne Join RUDDERLESS

Shameless star William H. Macy is prepping up to direct his first feature film and he's cast Billy Crudup, Anton Yelchin, Selena Gomez, and Laurence Fishburne to star alongside himself and Felicity Huffman.

According to THR the movie is "about the power of a parent’s love, [and] follows a grieving father in a downward spiral who stumbles across a box of his deceased son's original music. He forms a band, hoping to find peace in the wake of his loss."

This is an original story that Macy came up with and wrote with Casey Twenter and Jeff Robison. It sounds like a heavy drama that also has the potential to be a feel-good movie. Luckily they were also able to pull together a great cast of actors to pull it off.

Clark Gregg on Agent Coulson's Return to S.H.I.E.L.D.

We all saw Clark Gregg's Agent Coulson die in The Avengers, but Joss Whedon has resurrected him for the new S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series that will air sometime this Fall. The big question on everyone's mind is, how exactly did Whedon bring the character back to life? Gregg recently talked to Collider and explained how he felt about Coulson's death, and why we'll still have to wait to find out exactly how Coulson comes back to life when the series begins.

I’ve been so happy and living this geek fantasy as they kept adding Agent Coulson to everything including The Avengers and then gave him this magnificent, almost Shakespearean death scene, and I found out on that day how much I loved this guy and had come to identify with him partly because of the way fans responded to him, and also because he had such a great niche in those movies.  He got to be funny, he got to be, in this case, heroic.  And then I got to say good-bye to him, and it was a very emotional day.  And yet I feel what Joss did with that was a fantastic conclusion of the character.

And even though my friends at Marvel said, ‘You know, we spent a lot of time talking about how Coulson lives, and we know that there’s a movement out there, and there are t-shirts and people paint on bridges ‘Coulson Lives’, we’re going to bring you back’, and it’s one of the many things people tell you that never ever happens.  And then I get this call from Joss saying, ‘Well…there’s a script. And here’s what we’re thinking, and it’s after The Avengers, and here’s the concept.’ By the time Joss finished telling me, I was in ... After people see the show, they’ll have some clue as to why I’m still there, still breathing. But I don’t think they’ll know everything.

Do you have any theories on how Whedon might have brought Coulson back to life?

Creepy-Ass New Trailer for THE CONJURING

James Wan's new horror film The Conjuring looks like it's going to scare the hell out of audiences. It looks like an incredibly well made movie that horror fans are going to love. Wan talked about the film at WonderCon recently and revealed that he shot it to be a PG-13 movie. The MPAA ended up giving it an R rating though because of how scary it was. They told him there was nothing in particular that he could cut out of it to bring it down to PG-13, overall it's just too damn scary! It looks like it will live up to those expectations.

The movie also has an incredible cast of actors that include Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Joey King, Shanley Caswell, Haley McFarland, Mackenzie Foy, Kyla Deaver, and Sterling Jerins. One of the main reasons Wan took on the project was because it was based on a true story. Here's the synopsis...

Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

The movie is set to haunt theaters on July 19th, 2013. Watch the newest trailer, and let us know if you think it's going to be as scary as the MPAA says it is.

After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures. POKER NIGHT 2: Telltale Brings Some New Characters to the Table

For those who aren't familiar, Poker Night 2 is the sequel to Poker Night at the Inventory. In that game you played Poker (obviously) with a group that included Strong Bad, Tycho, Max, and The Heavy. Each character just reeked of personality, and acted just like you pictured them. Enter Poker Night 2's new cast, featuring Ash (of Evil Dead fame), Sam (of Sam & Max), Brock Samson (Venture Bros) and Claptrap of Borderlands. The cherry on top however is that the dealer has its own personality, since GlaDOS will be handing out the cards (and I'm sure her opinions) in Poker Night 2.

I've been itching to play some poker lately, and this just might be the fix I need (in lieu of, you know, actually having friends over and playing poker. That however requires solo cups, snacks, and overall energy that I don't have at the moment). Right now the game is announced for PC, XBLA, and PSN, but here's hoping a Mac version isn't far behind. So who else is getting this when it comes out in April? Let me know and we'll get a game together.

John Chu's G.I. Joe: Retaliation could have had a much different look and feel according to this series of awesome concept art. The art below was created by artist Aaron Sims, and it gives us on alternate look for Cobra Commander and several of the other characters, sets, and vehicles. I like a lot of the designs I'm seeing here, and they would have worked great in the film. Do you like any of these designs better than what you saw in the movie? If so which ones?

Joss Whedon is currently in the process of preparing to shoot The Avengers 2, which according to Screen Daily will start filming in the UK in early 2014. The film will be shot at Pinewood-Shepperton studios, which is where they just finished shooting Thor: The Dark World, and it's also where Guardians of the Galaxy is currently in production.

There's still hardly any information on what story The Avengers 2 will tell, but we know that the usual suspects will be back, and that a few new characters are also going to join them. Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L. Jackson will all be back. It still has yet to be determined whether Robert Downey Jr. will return as Iron Man or not.

The Avengers 2 will be released in theaters on May 1st, 2015.

People are still talking about that season finale of the third season of The Walking Dead. I've seen a few people trying to talk themselves into liking it, but let's face it... that wasn't the season finale we expected or wanted. What's done is done, and the story will continue with season 4.

Here's a cool set of stylized fan art that pays tribute to the three seasons of the show that we've seen. They were created by Daniel Mead, and highlight the major location set pieces from each of the seasons. Check them out!

David Fincher's 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA to Shoot in Australia

David Fincher's long awaited adaptation of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea seems to be moving forward! I still have yet to hear that it's been given an official greenlight from Disney, but the Australian government has confirmed that the film will be shot in their country. The country offered the studio over $20 million in tax incentives.

I'm excited to see that this project is gaining some traction. I can't wait to see what Fincher's vision of this story will look like! He's one of my favorite directors, and there's no doubt in my mind that he'll give us something mind-blowing. Here's the announcement:

Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Arts Minister Tony Burke today announced The Walt Disney Studios film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea will join a growing list of blockbuster productions filmed in Australia.

While casting decisions are still to be made and locations are yet to be finalised, the filming of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea will give Australian talent the opportunity to work with some of the best screen professionals in the business – both in front of the cameras and behind the scenes.

To attract the film to Australia, the Gillard Government will grant the producers a one-off payment of $21.6 million which will result in substantial new investment in Australia and could create up to 2,000 jobs.

On the back of the launch of Creative Australia, the new national cultural policy, the securing of this film is a huge coup for the Australian film industry and for the near 1,000 local businesses that will be providing goods and services for the film.

Through Creative Australia, the Gillard Government committed a further $20 million in new funding to attract international production to Australia and a commitment to increase the rate of the Location Offset should the Australian dollar remain high.

The announcement comes just after The Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman, recently wrapped filming in Sydney. The Wolverine, which created over 1750 jobs and contracted more than 1027 Australian companies, generated $80 million of investment and has reaffirmed Australia’s status as one of the world’s best filming destinations.

It also demonstrates that Gillard Government investment in the arts to drive local and national economic growth works and reflects the strong and ongoing support for the local screen industry by the Gillard Government.

Disney Villain Girls - Fan Art

Here's another fun piece is Disney art from Deviant Artist seniorgoldenspork, who previously brought us that awesome UP and Batman mashup. The new illustration is called "Disney Villain Girls" and it features a group of hardcore Disney fans dressed up as Ursula, Captain Hook, Cruella De Vil, and Scar. As you can probably tell, they are waiting in line for the Indiana Jones Adventure ride at Disneyland. Here's a note from the artist...

For those who have not yet experienced this ride yet, there really is a spike room the line goes through with a bamboo pole holding up the spikey ceiling from falling on you. There's a sign that Indiana Jones left for travelers that says, "Danger! Do not touch pole!" but of course no one is going to resist that! So when you shift the pole, a loud booming sound initiates and the ceiling starts to descend on you. When it first opened, the booming sound was soooo much louder than it is today. I'd always without fail jump and get startled every time I'm in that room and someone hits the pole.

This is my absolute favorite ride at the Disneyland resort. There's so much great detail in every thing from the line path, the sounds and the story. You get completely immersed in this believable temple that the line alone is it's own experience.

I've got to agree, Disney went all out on this ride, and it really is a great ride experience. It's the one line I don't really get bored waiting in.

Robert Redford to Play Head of S.H.I.E.L.D. in CAPTAIN AMERICA 2

In a recent interview with Spinoff Online legendary filmmaker Robert Redford reveals that he will be playing the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Before today, the only description we had was that he would be playing a senior agent in S.H.I.E.L.D. When asked about the role he would be playing he said,

Well, the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. The head of S.H.I.E.L.D. The Captain America thing is just a very simple thing. I wanted to do something different. I wanted to do something just to be different. Something bold, different. And that felt like a good thing to do. That was it, nothing more to it than that. Well, it’s bold in terms of expectations, I guess.

There's no word on how big of a part the character will play in the movie, but it's Redford, so I'm sure it's going to be a decent sized part.

The film stars Chris Evans with Anthony Mackie in the role of the Falcon, Frank Grillo as Crossbones, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Scarlett Johansson, and Cobie Smulders. It arrives in 2D and 3D theaters on April 4th, 2014.
