The first trailer has been released for Jeff Wadlow's highly anticipated film Kick-Ass 2, and it's a badass red-band one! The movie looks like everything I hoped it would be and more! This thing is going to be awesome! Everyone looks great, it's got some insanely fun action sequences, and there's a strong possibility that Jim Carrey will steal the show. I loved what I saw from him in this trailer. He's truly perfect for the character he plays!

I'm really excited for this one! Looks like we've got another great movie to look forward to seeing this summer! It also stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Morris Chestnut, John Leguizamo, and Donald Faison. Here's the synopsis:

Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation.

When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy. Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire—leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes.

Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world’s first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad. But there’s only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.

Kick-Ass 2 hits theaters on August 16th, 2013! Check out the trailer for youself and let us know if you're in!

Kristen Bell Starts VERONICA MARS Movie Kickstarter Campaign!

$

As a huge fan of Kristen Bell's Veronica Mars series I'm excited to report that there's a chance we will actually get to see a movie made, but if it's going to happen it needs your help!

I was just talking to a friend about this and how if a movie was made, it would need to happen soon. After three awesome seasons Veronica Mars ended in 2007. Over the years we've heard about a potential movie, but nothing ever seemed to move forward with it. Now Bell and creator Rob Thomas have taken steps to making it a reality!

Here's the deal, they started a Kickstarter campaign for the film. If they are able to raise $2 million in 30 days, which is on April 12th, Warner Bros. Digital Distribution has agreed to put the movie into production and pick up the tab for marketing, promotion, and distribution.

If the movie got made it would be released in the first quarter of 2014 for a limited-time theatrical run, before moving to VOD, iTunes, and other digital platforms. We've got to make this happen people! Click here now! This is really our one chance to make this movie happen. Is they don't get the funding, we'll never see a Veronica Mars movie. I want to see this movie happen!

Here's a video, and below that you'll find statements from Bell and Thomas...

Here's a statement from Rob Thomas:

Almost since Veronica Mars went off the air, there's been talk of making a movie. In that span, I've taken different tactics in dealing with the question of whether it might happen. To be clear, I've always wanted to make a Veronica Mars movie. I love writing these characters and working with these actors. Kristen Bell has always wanted to make the movie.

There was a moment, a few years ago, when we thought we had a real shot at making it happen. I developed a pitch that revolved around graduation day at Hearst college -- Wallace and Mac were graduating at least, Veronica had been sidetracked by freeing Keith from prison. Plus, there was a murder in Neptune that was affecting the beach city's spring break business in much the same way a great white shark affected the beach community of Amity. I probably stoked fan fervor in my optimistic comments about the prospects. Warner Bros. wasn’t convinced there was enough interest to warrant a major studio-sized movie about Veronica and the project never got off the ground.

After that, I tried to tamp down expectations. I didn't want to be guilty — at least not twice — of building up hope when the odds seemed so long. Still, without fail, in every interview I do or every place I speak, I get the "will there be a Veronica Mars movie?" question. Even after a couple of years of downplaying the chances, I'd still run across blog postings headlined, "will Rob Thomas shut up about the Veronica Mars movie, already!" I was trying to. I promise.

I first found out about Kickstarter a couple of years ago from an Austin musician friend of mine — Robert Harrison, lead singer of Cotton Mather, the band that gave us "Lily Dreams On," our closing song of season 1. He financed a rerelease of the band's fantastic Kontiki album. Later, I was marveling about Kickstarter with another buddy of mine who said off-handedly, "You should use Kickstarter to raise the money to make the Veronica Mars movie." I chuckled. That seemed like a silly idea in the moment. We'd need millions. But for the next few weeks, the notion was never far from my mind. I started doing the proverbial back-of-a-cocktail-napkin math. The average pledge on Kickstarter is $71. Hell, if we could get 30,000 people to give the average donation, we could finance the movie, particularly if the cast and I were willing to work cheap. The most common donation amount on Kickstarter is $25. Surely, 80,000 of our three million viewers would find that price-point viable!

Of course, Warner Bros. still owns Veronica Mars and we would need their blessing and cooperation to pull this off. Kristen and I met with the Warner Bros. brass, and they agreed to allow us to take this shot. They were extremely cool about it, as a matter of fact. Their reaction was, if you can show there’s enough fan interest to warrant a movie, we’re on board. So this is it. This is our shot. I believe it's the only one we've got. It's nerve-wracking. I suppose we could fail in spectacular fashion, but there's also the chance that we completely revolutionize how projects like ours can get made. No Kickstarter project ever has set a goal this high. It's up to you, the fans, now. If the project is successful, our plan is to go into production this summer and the movie will be released in early 2014.

Life has taken Veronica away from Neptune. In the years since spoiling Keith's chances to be reelected sheriff, Veronica hasn't taken a case. But something big is about to bring her back home and back to her calling. My goal is to include as many of your favorite characters as possible. It is, after all, time for Veronica’s 10-year high school reunion. Keep in mind that the more money we raise, the cooler movie we can make. A two million dollar fundraising total probably means cross words are exchanged at the class reunion. Three million? We can afford a full-on brawl. Ten million? Who knows... For some reason the Neptune High class reunion takes place on a nuclear submarine! A Hobbit shows up! There’s a Bollywood end-credit dance number! I’ve always wanted to direct Bill Murray. We’ll figure out something cool. Hey, if that total goes high enough, I’ll bet the good folks at Warner Bros. will agree a sequel is a good idea.

Thanks to everyone who hasn't lost faith.

Rob

And here's a message from Kristen:

dearest marshmallows...

I am currently the happiest blonde in a hamster ball the world has ever seen. We have been waiting so long to make this movie dream a movie reality, and it’s because of YOUR commitment, YOUR persistence, that we finally have a chance. We just have one more step to go.

You have banded together like the sassy little honey badgers you are and made this possibility happen. i promise if we hit our goal, we will make the sleuthiest, snarkiest, it’s-all-fun-and-games-‘til-one-of-you-gets-my-foot-up-your-ass movie we possibly can.

I promise to give it my all. i promise to work my hardest to give everyone a little bit more Veronica, and i will be oh so honored to do so.

I only ask for one thing in return.

If I ever die, do me a favor. Go on Oprah and tell the world that I loved kittens.

LoVe to you ALL,

kristen bell

Brian Michael Bendis on GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Movie and Comic

Comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis recently talked to USA Today about his Marvel NOW! Guardians of the Galaxy comic book, but he also touched on the movie being made by James Gunn. Bendis is one of the consultants on the film project so he's got a good idea of what's going on. Here's what he had to say about his new take on the comic book story, which I'm sure serves as inspiration for the film.

I had this idea of one of the Guardians being an Earth member. It seemed like that would be a cool thing to do and would say a lot more what the book is. It'd be so easy for any of them to do otherwise [than be a hero], but instead they're being selfless. That's pretty cool. You look at Star-Lord and once you find his origin story, there you go, man. He's our Luke Skywalker. That's our Peter Parker right there. In the fight [Drax] is amazing, but in between those fights not only does he not know what to do with himself but there are constantly people challenging him or trying to make their name on him. [Gamora] thinks her father is a monster and is going to do whatever she can to stop it. Rocket's got a whole thing going on in his past and it's all messed up and he's the only one of his kind. It's hilarious how much you end up caring about him, and how much he cares about Groot makes you care about him. You start with the gag, then all of a sudden they're the heart and soul of the piece.

He went on to talk about the movie in general and explains why it's like the first Iron Man movie.

It's fantastical imagination. It's the best of what comics and movies can do — here is a new world, here is a new agenda. When the first Iron Man movie was put on the schedule, a lot of people were commenting in the exact same way: 'He's not a household name like Spider-Man. I don't know…' It's almost the exact same conversation we're having about Guardians. The potential is definitely there.

Not many people are familiar with Guardians of the Galaxy, but that doesn't mean it's not going to be a huge hit. I can only imagine what it'll be like when we see some of the first footage from the film, fans are going to go nuts for it!

The story follows a U.S. pilot played by Chris Pratt who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants. According to Joss Whedon the movie is going to be awesomely twisted. I'm excited to see how this movie turns out!

Sylvester Stallone Gives EXPENDABLES 3 Update

For those of you looking forward to The Expendables 3, we've got an update from the project for you from Sylvester Stallone. He took to his Twitter account to let us know what's going on with movie, and what we can expect to see in this epic action film franchise. Here's what he had to say...

Writing EX3 at the moment... there are going to be mountains of surprises.

EX3 needs NEW blood and more humor.... The films were always meant to be more on the humorous side with moments of drama.

I always felt that there was a good mix of humor added into the movies, it might not have always been good humor, but at least Stallone tried. I Thought Expendables 2 was loaded with lots of humor, so it's interesting that he wants to add even more. He goes on to talk about some of the casting saying...

No S. Seagal, sorry ,but maybe we get lucky with J. Chan! And some young bloods!!!

By young I mean 22 to 27. Not big bruisers but tech wizard, super brains and a young woman who is not a sex symbol but funny ,tough,REAL

I'd love to see Jackie Chan in this third movie! Stallone wanted him for The Expendables 2, but he couldn't do it because of scheduling. Chan previously said in another interview that he agreed to be in the third film on the condition that he "will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes."

I've enjoyed The Expendables films, they are ridiculously over-the-top, but that's why they entertain me. I'm looking forward to the third chapter!

Legendary Pictures Developing Superhero Thriller Called BRILLIANCE

Oz The Great and Powerful producer Joe Roth is set to develop a new film for Legendary Pictures called Brilliance. The movie is going to be based on a novel of the same name written by Marcus Sakey.

The story has been described as being like the X-Men franchise, and it's "set in a world where a rare set of people are born with extraordinary abilities and are called "brilliants." At the center of the story is a federal agent with great hunting gifts who is drafted to hunt down a terrorist, another such brilliant who intends to start a civil war."

The first book isn't set to be released until July and it's intended to be a trilogy. Sounds like it it could be a good movie. Roth seems to have a good eye for big budget, entertaining tent pole films, so it will be interesting to see how this movie develops.

Here's a description of the book:

In Wyoming, a little girl reads people’s darkest secrets by the way they fold their arms. In New York, a man sensing patterns in the stock market racks up $300 billion. In Chicago, a woman can go invisible by being where no one is looking. They’re called “brilliants,” and since 1980, one percent of people have been born this way. Nick Cooper is among them; a federal agent, Cooper has gifts rendering him exceptional at hunting terrorists. His latest target may be the most dangerous man alive, a brilliant drenched in blood and intent on provoking civil war. But to catch him, Cooper will have to violate everything he believes in—and betray his own kind.

Mind Warping Water Bending Illusion

You've got to check out this awesome mind bending illusion that shows a stream of water unnaturally warping and bending in way you never thought possible. It's a very cool illusion, one you wouldn't be able to see with the naked eye.

So how did YouTube user brusspup pull this off? The effect only works through the camera, Gizmodo breaks it down simply, "The camera is set to match the vibration of the speaker so it's recording at 24fps while the speaker is pumping out a tone to 24hz. That creates this magic of zig zag. If you wanted to see water flowing in reverse, set the tone to 23hz."

Check this awesomeness out!

Last week Sony Pictures released a trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s sci-fi film After Earth, which stars Will Smith and Jaden Smith. It was a solid trailer and it actually planted a seed of hope in me that maybe Shyamalan has finally made another decent film that won't be a waste of my time. We'll just have to wait and see though. Now the studio has released a new international poster that you can check out.

Synopsis:

A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.

The film also stars Zoe Kravitz, Sophie Okonedo, and Isabelle Fuhrman, and it opens up on June 7th, 2013. To watch the latest trailer click here.

HOVERBOARD - Fantastic Back to the Future Inspired Short Film

The Hoverboard in Back to the Future Part II captured the imagination of kids everywhere. It's an iconic movie staple of the '80s, and every kid wanted one! Unfortunately our hopes and dreams were dashed when we found out that they weren't real. But I remember having conversations about them, I was the kid that was trying to convince everyone that they were real! Boy did I look stupid when I realized they weren't.

Here's a wonderfully made short film called Hoverboard that was directed by Sydney Freeland for the 2013 PBS Online Film Festival. The short was inspired by the classic Hoverboard, and it captures the fun, excitement and imagination that we all felt when we first saw the Hoverboard in the movie. I loved this adorable film, and I hope you enjoy it too!

Last month we reported that Roger Rabbit producer Gary K. Wolf was working on developing a new animated buddy-comedy project for Pixar called The Stooge, and it would star Mickey Mouse and Roger Rabbit. Thanks to AICN we have a new piece of pre-production art to share with you for the project. The art was created by Douglas Sirois who gives an update,

The Stooge has a treatment and we have a few writers brainstorming. We are developing more concept art. We have two directors interested and are actively looking for a Disney producer to take it to the next level. It is a great concept and a ton of fun developing. We also have been working with Gary K. Wolf on some Roger Rabbit short animation concepts that will also grab more attention and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the character this year!

Wolf assures the site that the project is happening. Here's a previously released description of what the story will entail...

The movie is called The Stooge. It will be based on the classic Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis movie of the same name. The story has the emotional empathy and sensibilities of Wall-E and Toy Story. It will be a (G) Rated Pixar type animated musical buddy comedy. Mickey takes on the Dean Martin role, Roger, who is already regarded as a comic genius in France, takes the Jerry Lewis part.

The film incorporates five specific locations from the Disneyland park. It also introduces the Toon Train, an exciting and interesting way to travel through Toontown.

The film features real-life people. Walt Disney costars. Orson Wells makes an appearance.

For more background information on the project click here. I'm excited for this, and I hope it turns out being a great flick!

Universal has released a great new behind the scenes featurette for Oblivion. It includes some more footage from the film and interviews with the director, Joseph Kosinski, and the star of the movie, Tom Cruise. They discuss the story and the character that Cruise plays in it.

I love what I've seen from this movie, and I'm incredibly excited for it. I've noticed some people aren't too enthused about it, but I think it will end up surprising them. The film also stars Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Melissa Leo.

Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautifulstranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Earlier today an awesome red-band trailer was released for director Jeff Wadlow's Kick-Ass 2, and it proved that this movie is going to be insanely entertaining! If you haven't watched it yet click here! But here's a new poster featuring Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Hit-Girl (Chloe Moretz), and a few official images have been released as well which are basically screenshots from the trailer. Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. VERONICA MARS Movie has Been Officially Kickstarted!!!

Earlier this morning a Kickstarter campaign was launched for the Veronica Mars movie. The fans of the series stepped up, and in less than 12 hours Kristen Bell and creator Rob Thomas surpassed their goal of $2 million dollars, and growing! This means we are actually going to get the Veronica Mars movie we've all been waiting for! How freakin' awesome is that! I actually gave up hope on this movie ever happening, but here it is! It's happening! I'm excited! To celebrate I'm going back to re-watch the Veronica Mars series!

This is a biggest Kickstater campaign ever done, and the fact they were able to reach their goal in the amount of time that they did is incredible. The fans have spoken, and it just proves to the studio that we really want to see this movie get made! I wonder if the studio executives though that this wouldn't happen. According to Thomas, here's what we have to look forward too!

I wonder how many other movies will attempt this kind of funding. Hey! Maybe Chris Carter and David Duchovny should do a Kickstarter for a new movie for The X-Files! This is huge! I'm sure we're going to start seeing more movies like this get Kickstarted.

Veronica Mars will go into production this summer, and will be released in theaters in early 2014! I can't wait! Did any of you think it wouldn't reach the goal?

"I'll tell ya what... pretend I'm still here, and tell me all about it."

Here's a little clip from Warner Bros' upcoming magic comedy, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. The movie tells the comedic tale of rival Las Vegas magicians who are competing for a highly competitive gig. The clip features a fun scene between Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi, and Jim Carrey.

The movie was directed by Don Scardino (30 Rock) and scripted by Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Frances Daley (Horrible Bosses). It also stars Olivia Wilde, Alan Arkin, James Gandolfini, Jay Mohr, and Michael Bully Herbig

The comedy will magically appear in theaters on March 15th, 2013! I haven't heard the best things about this movie, but I'm still looking forward to seeing it.

Superstar magicians Burt Wonderstone (Steve Carell) and Anton Marvelton (Steve Buscemi) have ruled the Las Vegas strip for years, raking in millions with illusions as big as Burt’s growing ego. But lately the duo’s greatest deception is their public friendship, while secretly they’ve grown to loathe each other. Facing cutthroat competition from guerilla street magician Steve Gray (Jim Carrey), whose cult followingsurges with each outrageous stunt, even their show looks stale. But there’s still a chance Burt and Anton can save the act—both onstage and off—if Burt can get back in touch with what made him love magic in the first place.
