Nicolas Cage Finally Done with GHOST RIDER

For those of you who have been hoping to never see another Ghost Rider movie starring Nicolas Cage, today is your lucky day because he's done with it! I enjoyed Mark Neveldine and Bryan Taylor's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance more than most people. Regardless of how stupid it was, I liked the over-the-top ridiculousness, and I was entertained. Here's what Cage had to say,

I think the ship has sailed on that one. At least with me involved.... Personally, I'm done, I've done what I had to do with that part. You never say never, but right now, today, I would say that I'm done.

I wouldn't be too disappointed if I never saw Cage star in another Ghost Rider movie. Now, I would actually like to see another vision of the comic book character on the big screen, he's such a badass, we just need a writer and director that can actually develop a good story for it.

Are you happy to hear that Cage is hanging up his skull and chains?

Crazy WITCHING AND BITCHING Trailer Features Jesus With a Shotgun

Want to see an insane trailer for a new Spanish movie that features Jesus with a shotgun and more crazy awesomeness?! The film is called Witching and Bitching, and it comes from director Álex de la Iglesia. The movie looks like an adrenaline filled head rush that is perfectly described as being "loud, angry, wild, bloody, sexy and brutal." I really want to see this movie!

Hugo Silva and Mario Casas (both currently very hot properties in the Spanish film market) play two hapless thieves, whose plan to rob a jewellery store unravels quickly when they have to bring one of their's son along, the ex-wife borrows the getaway car, they end up headed to France for Eurodisney instead of the planned Morocco, and they run into a coven of witches in the Basque country.

This is the last thing I expected to see today, and I hope you enjoy the trailer. Check it out!

Game of Thrones Season 3 is set to premiere on March 31st, and in anticipation of the return of the series HBO has released a 14-minute recap of Season 2 called "A Gathering Storm." It's basically a nice little refresher course to get you up to speed and refresh your memory of all the important events from last season. I can't wait to see what's in store for us in season 3! It looks like it's going to be epic!

SHERLOCK Season 3 Starts Shooting Next Week!

For those of you like myself who love BBC's Sherlock series, you'll be happy to know that the third season will start shooting next week with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, who have both become big movie stars since the series started. The cast got together and did the first read-through for Season 3 today.

Emmy-nominated director Paul McGuigan, who worked on four of the first six episodes, will not be back to direct any episodes this next season. He's currently set to direct the Frankenstein film with 20th Century Fox that includes Daniel Radcliffe as Igor. He's also working with Cumberbatch on a movie called The Man Who, about the life of Beatles manager Brian Epstein, which should prove to be another great film.

Deadline reports that Jeremy Lovering (In Fear) will direct the first episode of the new Sherlock season. They also say that Colm McCarthy (Doctor Who) is also set to direct one of the episodes.

I can't wait to see where the story goes, and I hope this won't be the last season!

Dane DeHaan Discusses Harry Osborn in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

I was so happy to hear that Chronicle actor Dane DeHaan ended up in the role of Harry Obsborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. He's going to be great in it. The actor has a history of playing characters with intense father and son relationships with Chronicle and his upcoming film The Place Beyond the Pines. In a recent interview with Comingsoon he talked about these other characters and how Harry Osborn fits in with them,

First of all, Chronicle was about a kid with an abusive father. Place Beyond the Pines is about a kid who doesn't know who his father is, and they're very different relationships. Obviously with Harry Osborn, the privilege of it is another dynamic. The relationship Harry has with Norman is a different dynamic. Every son has a relationship with their father, whether that father is there or not, and that always has an effect on the person whether they admit it or not. There's a lot of different ways those relationships are complicated.

When asked about the comparison of his character and the one James Franco played in the Sam Raimi films he said, "I dunno, I mean Franco did his thing, I'll do my thing." So he really didn't go into any details, but I'm sure he's going to be fine. DeHaan isn't really a comic book kind of guy, but that isn't going to stop him from doing the job,

I don't think you have to be a fan of something to do the job. I think ultimately it's important that I'm familiar with past takes on the Osborn story, more for like common, know-it-all 'cause it's stuff I should know. My job as an actor is the same job, whether it’s a comic book movie or a gritty Derek Cianfrance drama, or a 'Chronicle,' or a 'Lawless,' which is to take a character and, for lack of better word, to breathe life into it. I'm a fan of acting!

He makes a great point, and at least he isn't trying to fake that he's a comic book fan like we've seen other people do. DeHaan is then asked if he'd be interested in starring in the new Star Wars films, because he kind of had a Mark Hamill look going on, and this is what he said,

My dad would really like that! My dad's a really big 'Star Wars' fan. I've never really been a 'Star Wars' fan, though. I dunno why, maybe it's 'cause my dad liked it so much. (laughs) I have no idea why, it's just never really been my thing. I've always gravitated towards comic book movies. I don't read comic books, but I love the last Batman franchise, Sam Raimi's second 'Spider-Man' was pretty sick. The first 'Iron Man' was really great, I couldn't wait for 'Captain America' to come out. Those are my guilty pleasures for sure.

DeHaan is proving to be a great young actor, and I think whatever he ends up doing is going to be good. I'm excited to see what Marc Webb has planned for Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It's set to hit theaters on May 2nd, 2014.

I didn't expect so much as a chortle when watching School Of Thrones, but as I watched I found myself laughing a lot at this High School CW-esque parody of Game Of Thrones. The jokes are corny but appreciated  and some scenes are taken directly from the show and book. If you are a fan of the series in either form you will appreciate the antics of "Westeros High". Can't wait for more episodes Schoolofthrones!

Disney Developing Live-Action BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Film

Looks like Disney is going to be developing a live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. The studio has hired the screenwriter of Danny Boyle's Trance to write the script for the movie which will simply be called The Beast. If you've seen the trailer for Trance, it's a dark looking art heist thriller, which leads me to believe The Beast could be a darker kind of film. But probably not as dark as the one Guilermo del Toro is also developing with Emma Watson in the lead role.

It's should come as no surprise that Disney is doing this! Especially with how successful Oz The Great and Powerful turned out to be. I Imagine that The Best won't be the last live-action fairy tale we see get made either. They are also currently developing a live-action Cinderella film and a Sleeping Beauty movie called Maleficent.

It should be fun to see how this movie all comes together. Are there any other fairytale Disney movies that you'd like to see get a live-action adaption?

Alan Cumming Coming Back as Nightcrawler in New X-MEN Film

Last we heard director Byran Singer wasn't sure if he would bring Nightcrawler back for X-Men: Days of Future Past. In a previous interview he said,

I don't know. We'll see. You know ... we'll see. I don't want to ... sometimes you don't want to say 'yes' or 'no' to something that may not be a 'yes' or a 'no,' or anything. I haven't decided yet, a few things.

He also said the same thing about Halle Berry as Storm, and look what happened with that. Barry is back to reprise her role. Now we have word that Alan Cumming is going to be back to reprise his role as Nightcrawler, which is great! I was really hoping that he'd come back. James McAvoy let the news slip in a recent interview with Heat Radio. This is what he said while giving a cast breakdown...

You got me, [Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender,] Nicholas Hoult will be back, and he's just blossoming massively over [in America], Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Alan Cumming, Peter Dinklage I hear mentioned - I don't know if that's happening - Huge Jackman is coming by, he's massive, 7'5″ and muscly.

So it looks like Singer has decided what he wants to do. The whole gang is back for more X-Men movie action! Fox has set the film to be released on July 18th, 2014. Are you excited to hear that Cumming is back as Nightcrawler?

Simon Kinberg wrote the script, and it is based on Chris Claremont and John Byrne's comic book storyline, Days of Future Past, that ran in "Uncanny X-Men" #141 and 142 back in 1981. The story is set in an alternate future where surviving mutants have been thrown in concentration camps, Sentinels are patrolling America, and most of the X-Menhave been hunted down and killed. The present day X-Men are forced to stop a key event from unfolding in order to keep that future from occurring.

Cool Series of New York Inspired Movie Art

I love New York, until recently my only exposure to New York was in the movies. Over the last couple of years I've been able to visit the city, and it's so much more awesome in person than it is in the movies. It's such an incredibly awesome city.

To celebrate the city as depicted in some of our favorite movies, here's a fantastic collection of art created by UK artist Raid71. The art is part on an art show called The Popular Face of New York at the Bottleneck Gallery, and they are showcasing around 25 pieces. The show takes place from March 15th to March 29th. A majority of the proceeds he earns from his regular work at the show goes to ArtVCancer charity.

They sent us a few great illustrations for you to check out, and here's what the artist had to say about his work...

Pop culture profoundly influences the identities of not only its consumers, but also its real world referents.

The curate’s egg that is globalisation has scattered a billion Brooklyns, Bronxes and Manhattans around the world. Each one is selectively shot, sung or drawn with an agenda. When the world sees Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks finally meet at the top of the Empire State Building with Manhattan spread out before them like a celestial banquet, the city becomes as synonymous with romance as Belle Époque Paris; when Kong climbs the same building to meet his tragic fate, the city becomes a jungle in which the astounding and the unique are forever doomed to be reduced to bloody spectacle; when Patrick Bateman wends his sanguinary way through the antiseptic warrens of Wall Street, the city becomes an icy skullscape where weakness is punishable by death.

With the exhibition ‘The Popular Face of New York’, I present an outsider’s perspective on a city. For me, this is Scorsese’s city – an abyss of vice, drugs and crime which echoes with the sound of ricocheting bullets; it is Woody Allen’s city of introspection, ennui and sexual paranoia; it is the only city in the world strong enough to survive a million celluloid obliterations; it is a postmodern diorama in which Top Cat and Vito Corleone can coexist on the same block.

Great New Poster for THE SHINING Documentary ROOM 237

Check out this great new theatrical poster for the upcoming documentary Room 237, which is full of awesome mind blowing conspiracy theories based on Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. This is a must watch film for anyone who loves The Shining! I love how the new poster pays tribute to the film's original yellow theatrical poster that was created by Saul Bass.

There's just so much information packed into this movie, it will take multiple viewings to get all of the secrets that reside in the Overlook Hotel! Make sure to check out our review of the film here if you haven't already!

Here's the synopsis...

After the box office failure of Barry Lyndon, Stanley Kubrick decided to embark on a project that might have more commercial appeal. The Shining, Stephen King’s biggest critical and commercial success yet, seemed like a perfect vehicle. After an arduous production, Kubrick’s film received a wide release in the summer of 1980; the reviews were mixed, but the box office, after a slow start, eventually picked up. End of story? Hardly. In the 30 years since the film’s release, a considerable cult of Shining devotees has emerged, fans who claim to have decoded the film’s secret messages addressing everything from the genocide of Native Americans to a range of government conspiracies. Rodney Ascher’s wry and provocative Room 237 fuses fact and fiction through interviews with cultists and scholars, creating a kaleidoscopic deconstruction of Kubrick’s still-controversial classic.

The movie hits theaters on March 29th, 2013. If you missed the trailer for the doc check it out below!

Karl Urban Cast in J.J. Abrams' Robot Cop Drama HUMAN

Karl Urban (Star Trek, Dredd) is teaming back up with J.J. Abrams for a new TV series for Fox called Human. The series in a high concept idea that's described as "an action-packed buddy-cop show set in the near future, when all LAPD officers are partnered with highly evolved humanlike androids."

THR reports that Urban will play the leading role in the series. The character's name is John Kennex, "a respected police officer who has shut down emotionally after a tragic mission that claimed the lives of nine of his fellow elite officers and left him critically injured."

The script for the series is being written by Fringe's J.H. Wyman, so with all this awesome talent involved, there's a solid chance that this series is going to be great! If the network ends up liking the pilot and picks it up as a series it will be Urban's first series-regular role on U.S. TV.

Explanation of Why the BIOSHOCK Movie Was Killed Off

For those of you who have been wondering why Gore Verbinski's Bioshock movie being developed over at Universal Pictures never happened, we now have an explanation. Producer Ken Levine recently talked to Eurogamer about the doomed project and gives us the run down of what happened and why we won't see it anytime soon,

My theory is that Gore wanted to make a hard R film. Then Watchmen came out, and it didn't do well for whatever reason. The studio then got cold feet about making an R rated $200 million film, and they said what if it was an $80 million film - and Gore didn't want to make an $80 million film... They brought another director in, and I didn't really see the match there - and 2K's one of these companies that puts a lot of creative trust in people. So they said if you want to kill it, kill it. And I killed it.

I remember Verbinski wanted the film to be a hard R movie and in 3D saying, "That would be a great movie to do in 3D. I'd like to go into that world wearing a pair of glasses. I think in general, gaming is perfect for 3D. Anything where you're the protagonist... To make people feel on-edge." Fans were excited to see his vision realized. Unfortunately, the studio wasn't. It doesn't mean the movie won't eventually happen though, Levine thinks that there's still a possibility,

It comes along so rarely, but I had the world, the world existed and I didn't want to see it done in a way that I didn't think was right. It may happen one day, who knows, but it'd have to be the right combination of people.

So under the right circumstances it will happen. Who knows when that will happen though. Bioshock and Halo are two video game movies that should have been done already, but there's a chance we may never see them. You can watch the full video interview below.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION - New Photos and Unused Promo Poster

Jon Chu's G.I. Joe: Retaliation looks like it's going to be a blast! Sure there's a chance it could suck, but everything I've seen just looks awesome. We've got a few new photos from Collider and a supposedly unused promo poster for the film for you to check out. Not sure how legit the poster is, because it's really not the best design. According to General Joes it comes from an ex-designer who was working for an ad agency in conjunction with Paramount. The movie is set to be released later this month on March 29th, 2013.

Dwayne “The Rock” JohnsonBruce WillisChanning TatumAdrianne PalickiByung-hun LeeElodie Yung, and Ray Park all star in the film, and here's the synopsis...

In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. The film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. Directed Jon M. Chu, and produced by Lorenzo di Bonventura and Brian Goldner, from screenplay by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick based on Hasbro’s G.I Joe characters.

Emma Watson Passes on CINDERELLA Role

Earlier this month it was reported that Harry Potter star Emma Watson was in talks to star in director Kenneth Branagh's live-action Disney adaptation of Cinderella. Well, she's not going to do it. Variety’s Marc Graser reported that the actress has decided that she doesn't want to do it. As far as I know though, she's still attached to star in Guillermo del Toro's Beauty and the Beast.

Cate Blanchett is still set to star as the evil stepmother, and it will be interesting to see who Disney's second choice will be. Mark Romanek was originally attached to direct the film before Branagh came on board, but apparently his vision of the story was too dark for Disney's taste.

Can you think of another actress you'd like to see play Cinderella?

GROWN UPS 2 Poster

You might not know this, but Adam Sandler's Grown Ups was his most successful movie to date pulling in over $271 million worldwide. That's why we're getting a sequel. The first film isn't Sandler's worst movie in recent years, but it wasn't great either.

The story for Grown Ups 2 finds "Lenny (Sandler) having relocated his family back to the small town where he and his friends grew up. This time around, the grown ups are the ones learning lessons from their kids on a day notoriously full of surprises: the last day of school.

Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, and Maria Bello are all back to reprise their roles with Nick Swardson joining the cast as well. The movie hits theaters on July 12th, 2013!

Damon Lindelof on Why STAR TREK Villain Needs To Be a Secret

$

Even though I love to talk about and speculate on the villain that Benedict Cumberbatch plays in Star Trek Into Darkness, I'm really kind of happy that I don't know. I do like surprises, and it's hard to be surprised with movies anymore, especially since I read and watch everything that comes out--it's just what I do, I find it fun. We've heard a ton of different theories about the John Harrison character, no one is saying anything other than how badass of a villain he actually is. Screenwriter Damon Lindelof recently talked to Hero Complex, and he explains the importance of keeping the true identity of the villain a secret.

The audience needs to have the same experience that the crew is having. You’re Kirk, you’re Spock, you’re McCoy, so if they don’t know who the bad guy is going to be in the movie, then you shouldn’t know. It’s not just keeping the secret for secrecy’s sake. It’s not giving the audience information that the characters don’t have.

I love that explanation! Even the people who are working with Lindelof on other projects don't know who the villain is. Lindelof doesn't want to tell them, at the same time they don't want to know either!

They’ll say, ‘So, seriously, who’s Benedict playing?’ I’ll say, ‘Do you really want to know?’ Then they go, ‘No, no, no, I don’t.’

They know that if I said it to them. they would have a five-second rush of exhilaration followed by four months of being completely and totally bummed out that they can’t tell anybody else and that when it gets revealed in the movie, it will have been spoiled for them. That’s why they’re called ‘spoilers,’ they’re not called ‘awesomes.’

When we find out the true identity of the villain in the movie, I'm sure we'll all be like... "Oh I knew it!" Maybe not though, maybe it will be a complete surprise. I'm just excited as hell to see the movie! It comes out on May 17th, 2013, and I know it's going to be epically entertaining!

Watch Disney's New Old School Style Mickey Mouse Short

It looks like Mickey Mouse is coming back in a new animated series from Disney simply called Mickey Mouse. The new series has a very classic 2D styled animated look that merges "classic comedy" with "contemporary flair." It will be fun to see Mickey Mouse back! Over the years the design of the character has changed, and he's only been in three films since the 1980s.

There's a series of 19 shorts that will begin being released on Friday, June 28th, on Disney Channel and Disney.com. Disney Channel's Worldwide president and chief creative officer Gary Marsh had this to say in a statement.

By bringing Mickey's comedic adventures to life with vitality, humor, inventiveness and charm, the entire Disney Television Animation team of artists, animators and directors have worked to capture the essence of what Walt Disney himself created 85 years ago

Here's some more detailed information on the series...

Disney said the direction and pacing of the new Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts are fresh and contemporary but also pay homage to the art direction and storytelling of Walt Disney and his animators in the 1920s and '30s. Elements of the cartoons will borrow from Disney's early designs, while some characters will feature a "rubber-hose" cartoon style for more exaggerated animation. Background designs closely reflect the graphic design sense of 1950s and '60s Disney cartoons. Meanwhile, the shorts also will include homages to other Disney icons.

Each cartoon short finds Mickey in a different contemporary setting, including Santa Monica, New York, Paris, Beijing, Tokyo, Venice and the Alps, facing a silly situation, a quick complication and an escalation of physical and visual gags. Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy and Pluto also appear. In the first short, Croissant de Triomphe,Mickey must deliver croissants to Minnie's cafe, battling street traffic and other Parisian obstacles along the way.

They've also released a sneak peak at what we can expect to see in the series. It's called Croissant de Triomphe, and you can watch it below! It looks like it will be fun, I know my kids will definitely enjoy it! Check it out and enjoy the return of Mickey!
