EVIL DEAD 2 Is Already in the Works!

Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead remake blew up at SXSW recently, the things I've heard have been awesome! It sounds like fans of the original have a right to be excited. During a Q&A screening of the film the director and co-writer of the horror film revealed that a sequel was already in the works!

I guess this is an official announcement: We are already writing Evil Dead 2.

Spectacular! I haven't even seen the the movie yet, and I already can't wait to see what's in stare for the sequel. It got even better when producer and star of the original Evil Dead films, Bruce Campbell, said, that the team envisions the films existing as another standalone trilogy, which means we've got not one but two more sequels on the way!

All I can say is, bring on the blood and gore! I'm looking forward to seeing the direction they end up taking this rebooted horror franchise.

Joss Whedon Says the S.H.I.E.L.D. Series is Better Than Expected

As you know Agent Coulson is coming back to life for the new S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series for ABC. Now we all saw Agent Couslon (Clark Gregg) die in The Avengers, and the new series takes place after the events in the movie. What we're all wondering is how in the hell did Coulson come back to life?! Joss Whedon has really given us nothing to work with.

During a Q&A session at SXSW to promote his film Much Ado About Nothing he briefly answered the question we all want a answer too. He jokingly says... “I’ll tell you guys this, Heimlich... I can’t talk about it," but he did say that he did bring Coulson back from the dead for the ABC drama. "Yes. For realsies." Cinema Blend goes on to give some information on what Whedon thinks of the pilot that he directed,

When pressed for a bit of information about the pilot, Whedon said that while he loves diving into the spectacle that comes with The Avengers, he’s also interested in the people who are “under foot” in the massive battles, but who “didn’t win the lottery and aren’t super” but need to deal with the fall out of an alien attack. He thinks the pilot turned out better than expected, and he thinks his interest in those agents will keep audiences coming back week after week.

Awesome! I can't wait to see how this thing turned out! The series is expected to be released this Fall if ABC ends up giving it a full order, which of course is going to happen.

EVIL DEAD 4 is Really ARMY OF DARKNESS 2!

Yeah, I've got some more Evil Dead movie news for you! The movie blew up at SXSW recently, most people who have seen it seem to love it, and news for the film franchise is flying all over the place! It was recently revealed that Sam Raimi was going to start work on Evil Dead 4 this summer, which would further the adventures of Bruce Campbell's Ash.

Sam Raimi's producing partner Rob Tapert clarified something, and that is they were never talking about doing an Evil Dead 4 but they were actually doing a direct sequel to Army of Darkness. Now in my opinion Army of Darkness is basically Evil Dead III, it just has a different title.

When asked by Comingsoon about the project Tapert said, "That would be Army of Darkness 2. Everybody calls it Evil Dead 4 but Army of Darkness wasn't called Evil Dead anywhere except by the fans." When Campbell was asked if he would return as Ash he said,

Sam threatens this every six months. I've heard this a thousand times, because in the back of his mind, he never wants to let go, because he loved making these movies. We all loved making them together. They were a nightmare to make, very difficult, but they lasted the test of time, so he's not going to let that go, and I'm never going to say 'no.' It'll be me and a walker fighting some other old guy. But that's what he does and who knows? It may happen.

Army of Darkness was a badass movie, and if we get another movie based in that specific universe it would be amazing! I really hope this movie actually happens!

Pixar Releases 2 New MONSTERS UNIVERSITY Campus Videos

Pixar has released a couple of fun new viral campus videos from Monsters University. The videos show off some more new footage from the film, and once again give us an inspirational glimpse of what college life is like for the students on campus. This looks like such a fun movie, and I can't wait to see it.

Monsters University hits theaters on June 21st, 2013, and it stars Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Dave Foley, Julia Sweeney, Joel Murray, and Peter Sohn.

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. “Monsters University” unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends. Screaming with laughter and fun, “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”) and produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”).

Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis Back for HORRIBLE BOSSES 2

Earlier this year it was announced that Horrible Bosses 2 was going to happen. The screenwriters of the first film, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, are currently writing the sequel, and now we've learned that Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis are all locked in to reprise their roles! Jamie Foxx is also in negotiations to reprise his role as Motherf****r Jones. Of course the director of the first film Seth Gordon will be back behind the camera as well.

I thought the first movie was fantastic! I laughed my ass off, and I'm excited to see that at least the three main characters will be back. There's no word on what the sequel will be about, but I hope it's not the exact same film as the first one. It'd be ridiculous if after all that they conspired to kill their bosses again. There's got to be a funnier and different angle to it this next time around. The report does say though that the sequel will have a brand new set of bosses, and there's a possibility that Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Spacey could make cameos.

Danny Boyle Hopes to Shoot TRAINSPOTTING 2 in 2016!

While out doing press for his great looking new film Trance, director Danny Boyle talked to The Playlist and revealed that he's looking to get the whole cast of Trainspotting back together for a sequel! Boyle has been talking about this for some time, but now he's saying that he hopes to shoot it in 2016.

The story would be loosely based on Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh‘s novel Porno, and would pick up with the original surviving characters ten years down the road. Boyle has previously talked about making the film when the actors have aged appropriately. He went on to explain that original screenwriter John Hodge, who also wrote Boyle's Trance and The Beach, would write the film. Boyle went on to explained,

This has been a long time coming. There’s always been this long term plan for ‘Trainspotting 2,’ if John can produce a decent enough script, I don’t think there will be any barriers to Ewan or any of the cast coming back. I think they’ll wanna know that the parts are good so they don’t feel like they are letting anyone down.

The reason for doing it again is that people cherish the original, people remember it or have caught up with it if they never saw because they were younger. So you want to make sure you don’t disappoint people. That will be the only criteria I think.

For those of you who don't know, Boyle and Ewan McGregor had a falling out when Leonardo DiCaprio was cast in The Beach, when it was originally supposed to go to McGreggor. I thought that might be a hurdle, but apparently the director doesn't think it will be an issue to getting McGregor back on board so that's cool! Boyle went on to explain the reason behind the sequel's release date, "the ideal time would be Porno in 2016, because it was 1996 when Trainspotting came out."

I'm a huge fan of Trainspotting, it was such a great movie, and I watched it countless times in high school. I'm excited to hear that Boyle is still planning on making the sequel. Hopefully it actually happens!

Joss Whedon on What He'd Do with the New STAR WARS Films

I think it'd be interesting and awesome to see what Joss Whedon would do with the new Star Wars films that are coming. As of right now it's looking like Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford will be back for the new trilogy. This is something that a lot of fans like myself are excited about about, but Whedon would do things a little differently by not bringing them back.

While talking to Digital Spy, the filmmaker reveals that he would take a different, more unique approach. He would have started it off with a new and completely different set of characters leaving the legends of Luke, Leia, and Solo in the past.

You know, I wouldn't go back, I'd go forward. I would want to create characters that would resonate the way that they did.

As excited as I am about seeing these legendary characters again, I think Whedon has a good point. But it sounds like we are going to get the best of both worlds, with those three characters handing off the franchise to a new generation of characters. All I know is that I'm excited to see what Lucasfilm and J.J. Abrams are planning for the new films in the franchise!

Whedon is a crazy busy guy right now, but I'd love to see him take on a Star Wars film one day. Check out the interview below!

ZELDA & Darksiders: Amazing PaperCraft Statues by Delirium

Zelda and Darksiders have often been compared for their similar approaches to gameplay, and now they can be compared yet again for their love of paper & tape.

Okay, not really. The credit for these outstanding papercraft statues goes to Delirium (minidelirium on Deviant Art), who put these together over hundreds of hours using nothing but paper and really strong tape. Zelda is 170 cm tall and took 226 hours to build, and it shows. The skirt alone with all of its ornamental details would be impressive enough, but her work on the hair and face is stellar as well.

War is a bit smaller at roughly 80 cm, but is even more detailed. The armor is ridiculous, and I would love to see some behind the scenes videos on the process of putting these together. If you're interested you can find a closer look at each piece of these statues on her Deviant Art page. Here's hoping we get to see more great work from her in the future.

We've now got a new poster for the film featuring the U.S.S. Enterprise epically rising out of the deep dark depths of the ocean. It's a pretty rad looking visual! I have high expectations for the movie, and I'm thinking that those expectations are going to be blown away.

Star Trek Into Darkness arrives on May 17th, 2013. It was directed by J.J. Abrmas, and it stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Peter Weller. Here's the synopsis...

Here's a great new action-packed clip from G.I. Joe: Retaliation featuring Snake Eyes (Ray Park) and Storm Shadow (Lee Byung-hun) starting a fight, which looks like it will escalate into an exciting epic battle. The highly anticipated movie is set to be released later this month on March 29th, 2013.

Veteran dance-film director Jon Chu takes a crack at G.I. Joe in this sequel to Stephen Sommers' blockbuster 2009 film. Dwayne Johnson stars as Roadblock in the sequel, with Channing Tatum returning as Duke, the leader of the Joes, and Ray Park joining them as mute ninja Snake Eyes. Bruce Willis, Ray Stevenson, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce, Lee Byung-hun, Elodie Yung, and RZA co-star.

Nothing about Nothing is a great short film from director Daniel Levi, and it's twelve entertaining minutes of pure tension.  It's a great piece of filmmaking that masterfully builds to a fantastic climax. I think you're going to enjoy this one!

One man buries another man alive. Oddly, the man being buried alive is calm, whilst the man doing the burying is anxious even though he is in the position of power. It is an exploration of faith versus fear.

A&E has released the first 6-minutes of their new Psycho prequel series Bates Motel. I love the look and vibe of the series. It definitely has an Alfred Hitchcock vibe to it. It gives us a background on the death of Norman’s father, shows us the unsettling relationship between Norman and his mother, and takes us to the point where they arrive at the infamous hotel.

The series stars Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Max Thieriot, Olivia Cooke, Nicola Peltz, Nestor Carbonell, and Mike Vogel, and comes from executive producers Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Kerry Ehrin (Friday Night Lights). Here's the synopsis...

In Bates Motel, following the tragic death of her husband, Norma Bates buys a motel on the outskirts of the idyllic coastal town of White Pine Bay, seeking a fresh start. As Norma and Norman get ensconced in their new home, they discover this town isn't quite what it seems, and the locals aren’t so quick to let them in on their secrets. But the Bates’ are done being pushed around and will do whatever it takes to survive – and will do whatever it takes to protect their own secrets.

The series is set to premiere on Monday, March 18th at 10pm. Check out the first 6-minutes and let us know if you're in!

The upcoming issue of Total Film magazine includes a cover that features Superman (Henry Cavill) and Lois Lane (Amy Adams) from Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. The photo of the cover recently leaked out, but I'm sure we'll get a high resolution version soon.

I can't wait to see this movie, I've been hearing so many good things about it! This thing is going to be epic if it turns out as good as everyone that's seen it says it is.

The movie also stars Russell Crowe (Jor-El), Michael Shannon (General Zod), Antje Traue (Faora) with Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), Kevin Costner (Jonathan Kent), and Christopher Meloni (Colonel Hardy), The movie hits theaters on June 14th, 2013.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question ‘Why am I here?’ Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.

STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS is Ending; New Series Being Developed

$

As expected Lucasfilm has officially announced that Star Wars: The Clone Wars is going to be ending. As a fan of the series I'm a little disappointed, but they also announced that they are developing a new animated series. Not much is known about the series, but they say it will also include Clone Wars story arcs, and that it will include the "most thrilling adventures ever seen." They also revealed that Seth Green's proposed Star Wars Detours will be pushed back until after the release of Star Wars: Episode VII, which is kind of ridiculous. I'm not sure why, they really don't give a good reason, but that's just how it all played out. Read over the press release below, and let us know what you think about this bit of news.

As we enter into an exciting new era focused on the next Star Wars trilogy, Lucasfilm has decided to pursue a new direction in animated programming. We are exploring a whole new Star Wars series set in a time period previously untouched in Star Wars films or television programming. You can expect more details in the months to come.

As part of this shift, we have also made some key decisions affecting Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Detours.

After five highly successful and critically acclaimed seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, we feel the time has come to wind down the series. While the studio is no longer producing new episodes for Cartoon Network, we're continuing production on new Clone Wars story arcs that promise to be some of the most thrilling adventures ever seen. Stay tuned for more information on where fans can soon find this bonus content. In the video below, Supervising Director Dave Filoni offers a peek of what is to come in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

At Star Wars Celebration VI last year, George Lucas gave fans a glimpse at the animated comedy series Star Wars Detours from Seth Green, Matthew Senreich, and Todd Grimes. Detours was conceived and produced before we decided to move forward with the new Star Wars trilogy, and in the wake of that decision, Lucasfilm has reconsidered whether launching an animated comedy prior to the launch of Episode VII makes sense. As a result, we've decided to postpone the release of Detours until a later date.

We are incredibly proud of the teams at Lucasfilm Animation for creating some of the most amazing animation ever produced for TV.

Check out this amazingly awesome series of illustrations and photos that features many of our favorite superheroes reimagined as if they were sponsored by corporations.

Most superheroes don't need sponsors because they're super rich or government funded. I guess if they didn't have those things they might have to get sponsors to fund their heroics! If they did, this is what artist Roberto Vergati Santos' vision of what those sponsored superheroes might look like. He's assigned each one a certain brand that represents that particular hero.

So you've got Captain America with Coke, Iron Man with McDonald's, Wolverine with Adidas, Flash with Red Bull, Hulk with Monster, and more. Check out the sponsored superheroes below and tell us what your favorite is!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Talks SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR

Joseph Gordon-Levitt recently finished shooting his part in Robert Rodriquez and Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame to Kill ForHe plays a smooth talking gambler named Jonny, a new character created for a segment called "The Long Bad Night," and in a recent interview with Comingsoon he talks about the film saying,

It's interesting. They wanted to have a movie where fans of the books would still be able to look forward to something new and unexpected, so they added a story. I remember being really intrigued by that and I was really looking forward to, ‘Oh that will be so interesting to have the actual comics to refer to as an actor' but no I didn't.

I had a ball doing that, I loved doing that. I mean, Robert Rodriguez is a guy whose movies I've liked for a long time and he has creativity pouring out of him.

The site also says that even though Jonny's a new character and story, he is "firmly within the world of Sin City where other characters are likely to show up." Levitt said,

I saw Bruce and Mickey (Rourke) and I have a scene together, and Jessica (Alba). I was so stoked.

The character is one of the core characters in the overlapping story lines that also involves Rosario Dawson, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, and Jamie King who are reprising their roles from the first film. Then there's Josh Brolin, Jamie Chung, and Dennis Haysbert.

The plot for Sin City 2 comes from the stories A Dame To Kill For, Just Another Saturday Night, and a new one Frank Miller wrote called The Long, Bad Night, which apparently centers on Alba's character Nancy Callahan who will be the connection between the two films.

The movie is set to be released on October 4th, 2013.

Park Chan-Wook on OLD BOY Remake

Korean director Park Chan-Wook isn't involved in Spike Lee's American adaptation of his film Old Boy, and he seems absolutely fine with that. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he gave his comments on the film via translator, which can be found below.

I’m involved in the film as much as how I’d like if I were doing a remake of another filmmaker’s film, how I’d like that original filmmaker to be involved in my remake. That, in other words, is nothing. I’m not involved. I don’t really want to know anything about it. I want to close my eyes and close my ears to the remake. I want to go to the cinema as soon as it’s out and I want to be amazed.

At least he's respecting Lee's space and letting him do his own thing, although I wish he wouldn't. I'm personally of the camp that believes this movie shouldn't be remade, and is fine as is. If the only reason to remake this film is to appease those who despise reading subtitles or listening to English dubs, then he's pandering to the wrong audience to begin with. Anyone disagree?
