Spoilerishly Awesome IRON MAN 3 Story Details!

It's been a big day of Iron Man 3 news, and we have some more great info to share with you! This bit of information definitely contains some spoilers, but it's pretty awesome stuff. I don't mean to tempt you, but it's something you might want to know.

The details come from the latest issue of Empire Magazine who got to see 15 minutes of footage from the film. Spoilers coming now...

*

*

One of the scenes incuded Tony Stark crash landing and getting help from a ten year old boy. It's also confirmed that Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) works for The Mandarin, and also uses the 'Extremis' technology to gain superhuman powers. Iron Man won't be fighting a giant Robot in this movie, he'll be fighting people with superhuman powers due to the nano technology! This seriously sounds really cool! Here are the details...

The scene ends with Stark, bloodied and dazed, flying away not entirely in control of his malfunctioning prototype. He lands hundreds of miles away in a snowy field, where, out of power, he can't get in touch with Pepper. Or Rhodey. Or The Avengers, neatly sidestepping that question.

Breaking into a deserted-looking garage, the tone then zigzags again as Tony is startled by a ten year-old kid, Harley (Ty Simpkins) sparking what [Drew] Pearce calls the film's "sci-fi Capra" phase. "We loved the idea of doing something classically Spielbergian - a kid finds a superhero in a shed. Their relationship is not something you would traditionally see in Spielberg, though; it's bawdier, more fractious."

Extremis is a scientific program invented by Hansen and abused by the Mandarin and his right-hand man, Guy Pearce's slimy Aldrich Killian. It rewrites the operating system of the body, upgrading strength, speed and durability to the very zenith of human possibility.

"We're calling it a biological reality and there's a science behind it that allows people to glow and rip apart Iron Man suits," says Feige. "Frankly, Shane was not interested, and we were not interested, in having another armoured character and another armoured character fight. We've done that twice before."

How freakin' awesome does that sound?! I can't wait to see what that actually looks like!

The movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Gweneth Paltrow, Sir Ben Kingsley, Don Cheadle, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale and Jon Favreau. It will hit 3D and 2D theaters on May 3rd, 2013, and it's going to amazing!

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 - First Set Photos

Earlier today we brought you your first look at Spidey's new classic-looking costume in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The movie is currently shooting in New York City, and the first photos from the set of the film have been released featuring Andrew Garfield's stunt double hanging around. (Thanks: /Film)

I wasn't really blown away by the new costume at first, but the more I look at the costume the more I like it. I like the big eyes; they finally got the eyes right, straight out of the comic.

Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds, life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away – but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

The movie also stars Martin Sheen, Shailene Woodley, Paul Giammatti, Felicity Jones, and Colm Feore, and it hits theaters on May 2nd, 2014.

NBC has released a promo poster, and some character photos for Bryan Fuller's Hannibal TV series. The show is based on the cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lecter. It stars Mads Mikkelsen as the title character, Hugh Dancy as FBI agent Will Graham, Laurence Fishburne as his boss Jack Crawford, and Gillian Anderson as Lecter's psychiatrist. The new photos give us a look at some of the other characters that we'll see in the show.

The pilot episode was directed by David Slade and the series will follow Graham as he tries to solve a series of murders and enlists the help of brilliant psychiatrist Dr. Lecter... unaware the good doctor is secretly a cannibalistic killer. Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me) wrote and is producing the series.

Will Graham is a gifted criminal profiler who is on the hunt for a serial killer with the FBI. Graham's unique way of thinking gives him the astonishing ability to empathize with anyone - even psychopaths. He seems to know what makes them tick. But when the mind of the twisted killer he's pursuing is too complicated for even Will to comprehend, he enlists the help of Dr. Lecter, one of the premier psychiatric minds in the country. Armed with the uncanny expertise of the brilliant doctor, Will and Hannibal (known as a serial killer only to the audience) form a brilliant partnership and it seems there's no villain they can't catch. If Will only knew...

NBC has ordered 13 episodes for the first season, and it will premiere on April 4th, 2013. To watch the first promo teaser for the show, click here.

Quvenzhané Wallis Cast in ANNIE Remake

$

Beasts of the Southern Wild star Quvenzhané Wallis was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar last night. Even though she walked away empty handed, she still landed the lead role in Will Smith and Jay Z's remake of the hit Broadway musical Annie.

Easy A director Will Gluck is directing the film from a script written by Emma Thompson and later rewritten by Aline Brosh McKenna. Gluck will also be taking a pass at the script.

The story will be set in modern day and follow the adventures of little orphan Annie as she tries to find a family to call her own. She ends up being adopted by billionaire Daddy Warbucks, and of course, there's lots of singing. Wallis is a fantastic young actress, and I'm sure she'll be great in the film!

Smith's daughter Willow was previously attached to star in the movie at one point, but ended up dropping out because she aged out of it. The movie is set to shoot this fall and will most likely be released during the 2014 holiday season.

Trailer for New BBC Series IN THE FLESH about Zombie Rehabilitation

Check out this trailer for a great looking new BBC zombie series coming out called In The Flesh. It's not your normal zombie series, this one has a cool little twist. This show focuses on a recovering zombie who is going through a rehabilitation process. Here's a description of the story,

Set in the aftermath of a zombie outbreak in the UK, the series will follow Kieren (Luke Newberry), a dead teenager who was resurrected as a zombie and has since been rehabilitated somehow by the British government (they apparently call his condition "Partially Deceased Syndrome"). As Kieren attempts to re-enter society (while surrounded by people whose friends and relatives he just ate), he continues to struggle with the old urges that come with being a shambling undead cannibal.

The series is set to debut on BBC Three on Sunday, March 17th. There's no word on when it'll hit the USA, but I imagine it will eventually end up getting an Americanized version. Check out the trailer!

More Rad IRON MAN 3 Armor Concept Art!

The same guy that leaked the Iron Man 3 Hulkbuster and Space Armor art has thrown out more great concept art from the film featuring another crazy cool looking suit of armor! There's no name for the armor, but it looks like it could cause some serious damage. That's one big ass arc reactor in his chest to power that thing. There's no word on if we'll see this suit in the movie, but it is being referred to as Iron Man 3 concept art. I'd love to see this thing brought to life in the movie!

STAR WARS Movie Update! Will Alfonso Cuarón Direct Episode VIII?

$

We've got some pretty cool new Star Wars news for you today! The information comes from MarketSaw who has brought us the first big details of what we'll be seeing from Lucasfilm in the near future. It's also the same source that said J.J. Abrams was up for the directing gig, so they've proved that their information can be accurate.

Their source is back with some more Star Wars movie updates that I'm sure you'll be excited to hear. The update includes some information that Children of Men director Alfonso Cuarón could end up directing directing Star Wars: Episode VIII or Episode IX. The studio is definitely considering him for the job right now though. This a a pretty clear indicator that Abrams will most likely not be directing anymore segments in the new trilogy. The report also says that Simon Pegg will be involved with the films in some capacity, but it's not revealed how he'll be involved.

It would be great to see Cuarón taking on the Star Wars universe! I think he's a great director that would do a fantastic job! I'm looking forward to seeing his new sci-fi film Gravity, that might be one of the main reasons that Lucasfilm is looking at him for the job. The source goes on to talk about what we can expect to see in the development of the new trilogy, and what actors will be involved. He also reveals that the tone of the new trilogy will be more like the original trilogy, which is exactly I was hoping for! He also talks about what the studio is focusing on. Here's what he had to say!

As far as I know Episode 7 was then, and is now, focusing on the Skywalker's offspring. As I told you before, I believe duel personalities develop, akin to Anakin and Obi Wan, and Luke and Vader in the first trilogies, which as far as I am aware, is the driving force behind the new trilogy. Things may change however, but I doubt it, this has been long in the making.

The focus is on the original trilogy in regards of reverence and tone. Remember I told you before that the tone was important, well I believe they are really taking that seriously. From everything I know, they're focusing on that directly. Remember everything has the ability to change drastically, as Star Wars right now apart from the twin trilogies is a huge blank canvas. However, the trilogies ongoing narrative will continue to focus on that particular branch, whereas the stand alone movies, will fill and expand the voids in between in multiple timelines, and have potential to then be franchised themselves in regards to the worlds they open up.

Yoda, Palpatine, Jabba, Boba, Plagueis etc.

I believe they are very clued into what fans would and wouldn't like, and considering Mr Ford himself may not be done with his character yet, I wouldn't start picketing Lucasfilm about young Han Solo movies being made just yet. Which I was led to believe couldn't be further from how they want to move forward creatively anyway.

Harrison Ford has been approached, he has not turned it down, and is from everything I hear, very interested in returning to the role of Han Solo again, but is not signed as was reported recently. Negotiating may be a better choice of words right now. Hope it shakes out.

Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher were also approached a long time ago, as was ford, and a few other key players. I would all but guarantee, they will be in Episode 7, and I would be confident that Ford will return too. If the universe aligns correctly.

J.J. Abrams name was brought up to me numerous times, but only in reference to re-brand and ground up respect for world building that the franchise was looking to take back then. Very sneaky. Interesting to see he was offered the most coveted and feared gig in cinema history. Ultimately he is the perfect choice to direct episode 7, and set up the franchise to steward through the first trilogy. The names I mentioned to you before, remember them (EDITOR'S NOTE: my source's director list can be found here). Alfonso Cuaron especially. Trust me.

J.J. Abrams mystery cube or whatever he is calling it today, is in full effect, Star Wars news is going to be very thin on the ground for the foreseeable future, but expect Simon Pegg to be involved in some capacity. Can't say why, but lets just say I have a strong feeling about that.

Star Wars fans, Kathleen and J.J have your interests at heart.

There are some great things coming from Star Wars! It's truly an exciting time to be a movie geek, and I can't wait to see what Lucasfilm is planning for us! What do you think about all of the things revealed here? Do you think Cuarón would make for a solid Star Wars director?

IRON MAN 3 - Director and Cast Discuss Their Characters

$

0

The latest issue of Empire Magazine includes a lot of cool details about Iron Man 3. Yesterday, we brought you some great stuff from the issue including the cover photo, new photos from inside the magazine, and Robert Downey Jr. teasing his return. Here's another interesting segment in which director Shane Black and cast--Sir Ben Kingsley, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle--talk about the film and their roles in it.

Iron Man 3 is the first film in the second phase of Marvel's plan, and here's what Black had to say about Tony Stark's part in the story,

Tony Stark is [now] relying on these suits to feel like he's in any way capable. He surrounds himself with these things almost like a blanket. In The Avengers, he fought aliens, but he was the one character I would not have picked to fight aliens. Now we've taken advantage of the fact that he's fought aliens and he talks about it.

It will be exciting to see see how what happened in The Avengers will carry over into this film, and how the events affected Stark. The new movie will also flesh out the relationship between Pepper Potts and Stark, Gwyneth Paltrow says that Pepper...

Adores Tony, but she absolutely gets fed up with him. He gets caught in a feedback look.

Sir Ben Kingsley plays The Mandarin in the film, and I have no doubt that he's going to be amazing. Kingsley describes his character in the film calling him...

A pastiche of American iconography. It's there to confuse - you don't know what's coming next. Shane allowed me to push the boundaries of the role so that I'm allowed to go a bit bonkers.

I think one of the things I'm most excited about seeing in the movie is War Machine/ Iron Patriot in full on action! According to Don Cheadle, Stark doesn't really care for the Iron Patriot name in the film, and he says,

The name makes as much sense as Iron Man. It's a new and interesting look. I don't know how, personally, I'd feel about being draped in the flag, but Rhodey doesn't care what the paint job is like. He just wants it to do what it does.

The Mandarin forces Stark out of hiding by attacking one of Stark's close friends, and according to Black The Iron Patriot will be of no help. The director says that Stark instantly "issues a 'come and have a go if you think you're hard enough' challenge to The Mandarin" on live TV. The director went on to say,

Robert's portrayal of Tony is ultimately the American cowboy who defies authority, thinks for himself and is fiercely individualistic. That's an America we like to believe in, which is why The Mandarin, who hates America, is a good match for Tony in this movie.

The movie also stars Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, Rebecca Hall, and Guy Pearce. It's set to open in 3D and 2D theaters on May 3rd, 2013, and it sounds like it's going to be amazing! We should be getting a new trailer sometime in the near future as well so stay tuned for that!

Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?.

Guillermo del Toro Offers Update on JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK

One of my most anticipated superhero movies has become the DC comic film that Guilermo del Toro is developing called Dark Universe, which is inspired by Justice League Dark. In a recent interview with Total Film he talked about the story arc, and how he'd love to use the origin stories of the characters. When asked about the project, here's what he said...

It's going really, really well. It's like meeting old friends. I grew up with Demon Etrigan, with Swamp Thing, with Deadman, so these are characters that are near and dear to my heartI'd love to use the origins that are proper to each character. I love the idea of Jason Blood as a paladin and a knight...I love the entire Constantine mythology, the Dead Man mythology, the Alec Holland Swamp Thing mythology. These are really rich things to well, and to dig.

It will be interesting to see how he handles the origins of all these characters in one movie, but I'm sure he has a plan to pull it off. Each one of these characters could have their own great movie, but it will be really cool to see them team up. As for where the project currently stands the director says,

I am going to be presenting my storyline to DC and Warners of where I want to take this universe. We do have a writer, but until that is firmed up, I have to keep it a secret. I hope it happens.

I really hope Warner Bros. picks up this film pitch, because this really could be an epically awesome movie!

Justice League Dark is a team of supernatural heroes within the DC Universe, brought together by Madame Xanadu and led by sorcerer John Constantine. It is an ongoing DC Comics series, first announced as part of the company's universe wide overhaul, and was written by Peter Milligan with art by Mikel Janin. The title launched on September 28, 2011. From issue nine, writer Jeff Lemire became the principal writer on the series.

FALLOUT 3: Pip-Boy 3000 Replica is Jaw-Dropping

To all of you Fallout fans out there, this is something to be in complete awe of. Check out this fantastic Fallout 3 Pip-Boy 3000 replica made by Zachariah Perry. It looks like it perfectly hopped right out of the game and into the real world. Although it seems he is not selling this, who knows, you may be able to hit him up with the perfect price and he will accept.

Not that familiar with the Pip-Boy 3000? Check out this chunk of info from the Fallout Wikia page

The player is equipped with the Pip-Boy 3000A; it is indicated that there are other models in the 3000 line, with A being one of the oldest. The Pip-Boy 3000A is worn on the character's left forearm. This multifunction device has been programmed by Pip-Boy developers to display the wearer's stats, area maps, inventory, and item properties. It also includes a Geiger counter and a radio, and its screen doubles as a flashlight. A user can set their color preference for the display. The four colors available are amber, blue, green, and white. The display color must be changed through the pause menu rather than the Pip-Boy itself.

If you could have your very own working Pip-Boy, what would be your favorite feature? Or better yet, what would you add to it?

Joss Whedon Discusses the Challenges of Making a HULK Movie

$

The Avengers director Joss Whedon is out touring his new movie Much Ado About Nothing, and of course everyone just wants to talk about The Avengers 2 and the rest of the Marvel Universe. While attending the Glassgow Film Festival Whedon was asked if it was possible to make a good Hulk movie, and this was his response,

Yes. But it would be very, very hard. Hulk is a tricky son of a bitch. He’s the Claudio of superheroes. Because the problem is it’s a very popular character, but it’s not a superhero. Half of it’s a superhero, half of it’s a werewolf. And you can’t structure it like a superhero movie, you can’t light it like a superhero movie. How do you develop that? It would be extremely difficult. The one thing you would have in your favour would be Mark Ruffalo. But right now I don’t know if they have plans to do that or not, because he works so well as part of a greater whole, but by himself, it’s tough. I don’t envy the guys who went before.

The first two Hulk movies both had their strengths and weaknesses, but I wasn't blown away by either one of them. The Avengers was the first movie where the Hulk shined. It gave me hope that one day we would see the mind blowing Hulk film we've all been waiting for.

Earlier this month a rumor hit the internet that Marvel was looking to develop a live-action Planet Hulk movie. I would love it if this happened! It's the perfect story to tell for the Hulk that fans would go crazy for. With Guardians of the Galaxy expanding the Marvel cinematic universe deeper into the cosmos, it makes perfect sense to me that Planet Hulk could be implemented into the movie universe.

One day we're going to see another Hulk film, but it probably isn't going to happen until phase four of Marvel's plan. Other than Whedon, who else do you think could direct a Hulk movie?

SPRING BREAKERS - 2 Red-band TV Spots and New Poster

Two new red-band TV spots and a new poster have been released for the Harmony Korine-directed film Spring Breakers, which stars Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley BensonRachel Korine, and a crazy James Franco. It looks like everyone kind of goes insane in this movie. From what I've heard the movie is supposed to be really good. I've aso included a couple of behind-the-scenes videos as well.

The story follows "four sexy college girls as they plan to fund their spring break getaway by burglarizing a fast food shack. But that's only the beginning... At a motel room rager, fun reaches its legal limit and the girls are arrested and taken to jail. Hungover and clad only in bikinis, the girls appear before a judge but are bailed out unexpectedly by Alien (James Franco), an infamous local thug who takes them under his wing and leads them on the wildest Spring Break trip in history. Rough on the outside but with a soft spot inside, Alien wins over the hearts of the young Spring Breakers, and leads them on a Spring Break they never could have imagined."

The movie opens up in New York and Los Angeles on March 22nd before expanding on March 29th. You can watch two previously released trailers for the film here, and a red-band trailer here.

Watch the Fun Commercials that Aired During The Oscars

Not as many people tune into to watch the Oscars as they do to watch the Superbowl, so we really don't see too many cool commercials or movie trailers during the show. There were three commercials that aired that I enjoyed though, one for Samsung‘s new Galaxy Note that featured Tim Burton discussing a movie about a unicorn apocalypse, then there was one for Apple's iPad. The best ad though was for Grey Poupon. They took the classic commercial from the '80s and gave it a great action packed twist! Check 'em out!

I'm already a fan of the KitchenAid baking mixers. Not only do I enjoy writing about movies, but I also enjoy cooking. Anyway, DeviantArt user tommyfilth created this incredibly awesome Boba Fett style mixer, and I want one. Here's an explanation of how it came about:

I asked for a Kitchenaid mixer for Christmas, I pointed my wife toward a broken one on eBay so that I could refurbish it, as I was taking it apart I got some inspiration for the paint job and this is what came out of it, still needs a phase board for speed control and two decals to be applied to the sides but I couldn’t wait to share.

How many of you are now going to attempt to paint your mixers into something geeky?

Conan O'Brien is back with his Clueless Gamer bit, and this time he is taking on the new Tomb Raider game due out next week from Square Enix

As always, Conan almost has no idea what to do while playing the game (hence the name “Clueless Gamer”), but he makes it very fun to watch. You can make a safe bet that you will probably die just as much as Conan did within the game. However you probably won’t put a pole through Lara’s head like he did.

Looks like the Daft Punk website has been updated recently just ahead of their fourth album! The reason? According to SPIN the piece was an artful way of announcing their partnership with Columbia records for their new album. Of course I'm pumped to hear anything new from the longtime Electronica hit makers post Tron, but who isn't? You can visit the website to see the image in full...but nothing is clickable yet.

FLATLINERS to be Remade by Dragon Tattoo Director Niels Arden Oplev

The director of the original Girl With the Dragon Tattoo films, Niels Arden Oplev, is set to develop a modern day remake of the classic 1990 Joel Schumacher film Flatliners, which starred Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, Julia Roberts, and William Baldwin.

This is one of the few films Schumacher has made in his career that I absolutely love! Flatliners was such an awesome movie. I actually just watched it again recently, and was reminded of how great this movie is. If you haven't seen it yet, you should most definitely check it out!

I can't say I'm too excited about it getting remade, but Oplev is a solid director, and it will be interesting to see what his vision of the story will be.

The story follows a group of friends and colleagues who subject themselves to near-death experiences in order to get a glimpse of the afterlife. After doing so the members of the group are haunted by physical manifestations of childhood sins. They aren't sure if what they are facing is real or hallucination. It's such a great concept!

The director just finished shooting the pilot of Steven Spielberg and Stephen King's Under the Dome, and he has a great looking new film coming out soon called Dead Man Down.

What do you think about Oplev directing a remake of Flatliners?
