If you didn't believe your friends and missed the Season 3 episode of Rick And Morty on April Fools day, you'll get another chance to see it this week! Adult Swim tells us the new episode (which has spiked a movement for the return of McDonald's Szechuan sauce) will be airing each night this week beginning at 10 pm ET/PT. As someone who received a press release when it happened, I was able to catch it on Saturday and loved every minute of it! What were your thoughts?

New IT Trailer Compared Side-By-Side with the '90s Mini-Series

$

I just finished reading Stephen King's horror novel It for the first time last week, just before the new trailer beat The Fate of the Furious to become the most-watched in a day. I never saw the made-for-TV mini-series adaptation starring Tim Curry, and since I know how big a deal that was for a lot of people in my generation, I wanted to check it out. But after watching the trailer for the mini-series, I was put off by how cheap and, frankly, terrible it looked compared to the new movie trailer, so I think I'm just going to skip the mini-series and wait for the new movie to come out.

Someone has edited a side-by-side comparison of the new trailer with footage from the mini-series to show you the similarities between the two adaptations, and while it's clear they're both pulling from the same source material, I still think the mini-series just looks a little too cheesy for me to devote the time to checking it out. I'm betting it's like The Goonies: if you saw it as a kid, you'll love it, but if you watch it for the first time as an adult, it won't have nearly the same effect.

Details Revealed on How SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Starts Off and How it Ties to the MCU

I've got some new details to share with you regarding Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming. These details offer us information on how the film begins and how is all ties in with the MCU. If you don't want to know how director Jon Watts is starting this movie off, I suggest you don't read any further.

The following information comes from Comingsoon.net, who had a chance to visit the set of the film. The beginning of the story takes us back to 2012 after the events of the attack on New York in the first Avengers film. It's at this point that Michael Keaton's villainous character Adrian Toomes comes into play with his salvaging company, which is in charge of clean-up. That is until the Department of Damage Control comes in to make things difficult. The site explains:

"The film literally begins in the shadow of Stark Tower, now with its trademark 'A' still hanging on. Michael Keaton’s Toomes has arrived with his boys to begin the clean-up process, a nice little contract he’s picked up for his salvage business, only to be stopped by the Department of Damage Control (a nod to the classic Marvel comic series) who are taking over the clean up and send Toomes away. Following that, and the Sony and Marvel logos, things will jump into the middle of Civil War, just after Tony Stark has recruited Peter to his side of the fight. A montage will show Peter’s exploits in leaving New York, riding on a private jet to Germany, and taking place in the big airport fight. We’ll also see what he did right after that, hanging around in Europe… literally, as he explores the world in his brand-new Spider-Man suit."

Sounds like a solid setup to what I'm sure will be a great movie. Executive producer Eric Carroll went on to talk about the different tone of the film and what it's like for Peter Parker to be a part of this new world saying:

“All the other movies so far, take place in this weird penthouse level. Where you’ve met this alien royalty, and Tony Stark, who very literally lives in a penthouse. (Spider-Man) is a guy who grew up in a world where all these characters are real. Seeing it from the ground, what is that like? How is that different?”

He goes on to explain:

“It’s kind of the first time you get to see this tone. We’re really excited about, and we think is fun.”

Then obviously things have to get somewhat back to normal for Peter. Carroll explains:

“After seeing all this amazing, glamourous stuff. Boom… hard cut to him back in his cold weather gear. Riding the subway to school. Crammed next to all the other students, riding public transportation to school and we’ll realize that he’s still waiting for his call from Tony.”

I love the dynamic they are exploring with this character. It's going to make for an interesting story and interesting character development. Spider-Man: Homecoming will swing into theaters on July 7th.

Funny First Trailer For the Netflix Original Series GIRLBOSS

Here's a trailer that I did not think I would be recommending to you. While Girlboss lacks the typical geeky, actiony, dude vibe we throw out here (minus the Disney stuff), it looks pretty damn good! Here's a description:

Girlboss is inspired by the New York Times best-selling book #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso, founder of the fashion brand Nasty Gal. The series centers on Sophia (Britt Robertson), who began selling vintage clothes on eBay and, by the age of 28, had built the multi-million dollar fashion empire, Nasty Gal. Girlboss is created by and executive produced by Kay Cannon (Pitch Perfect 1& 2, 30 Rock), who also serves as showrunner. Charlize Theron (Monster, Young Adult) and Laverne McKinnon, of Denver & Delilah, Christian Ditter (How to Be Single) and Sophia Amoruso will also serve as executive producers. Ditter also directs all 13-half hour episodes. Girlboss stars Britt Robertson (Sophia), Ellie Reed (Annie), Alphonso McAuley (Dax), Johnny Simmons (Shane) and Dean Norris (Jay)."

The trailer is edgy, in your face, and has a pretty solid cast behind it. Check out the trailer and stream it beginning April 21st.

Tensions and Ground Rise In Sneak Peek For TEEN TITANS: THE JUDAS CONTRACT

The new Teen Titans are still figuring out how to be a team in a sneak peek at Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. Besides the fact they made Raven and Beast boy young again, I'm down with the idea that this is a new lineup of heroes! These guys are no Young Justice, and they probably won't capture my heart like the original animated series did, but I can see myself following a few of their adventures. Check out the team bickering in the clip below.

Deathstroke the Terminator has a long held grudge against the Titans relating to the death of his son Grant Wilson the original Ravager. In order to fulfill this grudge he seduces a 15 year old with the extraordinary ability to command the very earth to her will.

Samuel L. Jackson Set to Star in THE BLOB Remake

Samuel L. Jackson is definitely a guy you want if you are up against a large unstoppable creature. Sharks, Dinosaurs, King Kongs, and now apparently Blobs. In a recent interview with the Toronto Sun talking about how Samuel L Jackson's voice has now become iconic for the loud yelling with purpose. He said he's been preparing to use that voice to play roles like he has been for years.

That's the sound of me having fun. I've been preparing to use it my whole life. I've been running from or chasing King Kong, Godzilla, the Wolfman, whatever, since I was a kid. We'd go home and pretend to do all that stuff.

Well, it looks like the fun is going to continue because during the interview he mentioned he would also most likely be doing The Blob remake.

"So I’m doing Kong for the same reason I’ll probably be doing The Blob. I just got a call the other day (where the producers) said they finally got their money from China to do Blob."

In 2015, director Simon West announced he was working on doing a remake of The Blob, and then nothing really came of it. Well, as you can see from his comment above there's some traction is being made. Someone in China is funding them. As to who, it's not quite known yet, but calls have been made and Jackson seems excited to play in it.

Whether or not he'll survive the disaster will be another thing altogether, will be a question that will have to be answered later. If Deep Blue Sea, Jurassic Park, or Anakin Skywalker have anything to say about it then maybe not.

Promo Teaser for Marvel's THE DEFENDERS Reveals a Frustrated Team and a Possible Release Date

Netflix has released a brief teaser trailer for Marvel's upcoming series The Defenders. It shows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist getting into an elevator at Midland Circle Financial and as you'll see they look exhausted and frustrated. Makes me wonder if they just got finished with a big fight.

As you may or may not remember Midland Circle Financial was the operation behind the massive hole in the ground that was dug by The Hand in Daredevil Season 2.

The promo also seemingly reveals the release day. Right before Jessica Jones punches the elevator camera to break it, we see the time code stops at 08:18:20:17. I assume that means The Defenders will premiere this summer on August 18th, 2017.

Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal - to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.

I've got high hopes for the series. This is what all the Marvel Netflix series' have been leading up to and I hope they deliver a badass series that tells a great story.

Watch Darth Vader Drop the Worst Puns in the Galaxy

Many Star Wars fans thought Darth Vader's use of puns in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story didn't align well with his character — especially considering how the movie leads directly into A New Hope, a film in which no one would describe Vader as being a guy with a sense of humor.

Nerdist has leaned into that complaint and created a video of Vader dropping some of the worst puns in the galaxy throughout the original trilogy. It really serves to highlight how out of place that Rogue One joke was.

Sigourney Weaver Says AVATAR 2 Begins Shooting This Fall

Sigourney Weaver has confirmed that Avatar 2 will begin shooting in the Fall of this year. Here's what she said specifically via Coming Soon:

“We’re starting! We’re starting training, and we’re starting — hm, I probably can’t say anything. We will be actually shooting it by the fall. I’m telling you, these scripts are so amazing. I’m not worried about [disappointing fans] at all. Am I worried about how we’re going to bring them to life? Yes, because they’re so ambitious. They’re so worth it. They’re well worth waiting for. I’m not worried about that at all. We’re trying to get it done as quickly as possible.”

I'm glad she's excited about it! I can't say I feel the same, as it's been so long since the original film released (2009) and I was already "meh" after seeing the film the first time. That said, perhaps a fresh story that doesn't feel like a rehashed adventure will bring me back into the world of Avatar and refresh my interest in the franchise. No release date has been set for the film but I would imagine if they're starting filming in Fall we should see it sometime in 2019.

DC Comics See a War Waged Between Riddler and Joker in a New Storyline

DC comics has been doing a few things right recently. Now that NEW 52 is over the world just feels better and one of the new storylines especially looks awesome.

Joker and The Riddler are having an all out war on who has the right to do in Batman for good and Villains are taking sides. It's like Marvel's Civil War but with DC villains. Personally, I think this is a brilliant idea seeing as DC's best characters are the villains and having two of Batman's greatest foes battling one another for the right to kill Batman seems like an interesting storyline.

The title of the story arc is called Batman: The War of Jokes and Riddles. Which... is less than intimidating. I mean I get it, but The war of jokes and riddles just sounds like two kids arguing about what's more fun. Jokes or Riddles. The story will focus on the Riddler and Joker but will also have other Batman Villains taking sides in the battle. There have been sneak peeks of Killer Croc vs Solomon Grundy, Deadshot vs Deathstroke, and Poison Ivy vs Mr. Freeze. And all in the middle of it Batman is trying to keep the peace.

In the story, the Joker and the Riddler clash, as neither one wants the other to destroy Batman and rob them of the satisfaction. This causes a gang war to erupt with people taking sides, all while Batman is caught in the middle trying to keep the city safe.

Tom King, who posted a lot of the preview art, is the writer for much of the main story and has been tweeting with lots of images and teasers. One quote he has said about the battle has to do partly with why these two would go against each other.

What's the difference between a joke and a riddle? A joke is chaos; a riddle is order.

I don't even like DC comics all that much, but this is one I'm excited to read more about. What do you think? Who do you think should win? Post below.

IRON MAN Will Have 5 Or 6 Scenes In SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

In case you were wondering how much of Iron Man you'll see in Spider-Man: Homecoming, you'll see him quite a bit. Producer Eric Carroll tells Screen Rant that Stark has around 5 or 6 scenes with Peter Parker...which sounds like more than enough to establish a decent bond between the characters! Carroll elaborates more on that bond below:

“I think we’re seeing the beginning of a sort of father-son relationship. Obviously Tony hasn’t got any kids, and Peter at this point hasn’t got any male figures in his life, so I think there’s a really lovely dynamic that Robert and I are forming. And, no, let me take that back. I think Robert is more like a big brother than he is a father figure because he picks on him and he is down on him quite a lot. But then there is that level of him caring about him like his own, and Robert has really brought something lovely to the character. It’s a very different side of Stark than you’ve ever seen before.”

5 to 6 scenes is a hell of a lot more than I was expecting! Are you happy that Stark is in the film, or do you think he's only going to get in the way of telling Spider-Man's story? Let us know below.

The T-Rex Will Be Back For JURASSIC WORLD 2 to Wreak Havoc

There's still so much that we don't know about what's going on with Jurassic World 2. The studio and the creative team involved with it have done a great job keeping things under wraps. However, we do have some new information to share with you today and that's that the movie will feature the return of our favorite T-Rex who wreaks havoc and always tends to saves the day in the process!

The confirmation comes from producer Colin Trevorrow on Twitter. A fan by the name of Kevin asked if the director would confirm or deny "Rexy" making an appearance explaining that his daughters a fan and this was Trevorrow's response:

The fact that the iconic T-Rex is returning tells us that at least part of the story will take place the park on Isla Nublar unless the dinosaurs have been relocated elsewhere, but that doesn't seem likely. Relocating all those dinosaurs seems like it would be a whole terrifying disaster movie in itself. When previously talking about the T-Rex before Jurassic World was released Trevorrow said that she is 22 years older, “But she’s not limping around.” He went into a little detail:

"We took the original design and obviously, technology has changed. So, it’s going to move a little bit differently, but it’ll move differently because it’s older. And we’re giving her some scars and we’re tightening her skin. So, she has that feeling of, like, an older Burt Lancaster. And this movie is her Unforgiven."

It'll be interesting to see what the T-Rex's story arc will entail this time. We know that the sequel will be bigger and more suspenseful and scary than the first movie.

The film stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard as well as newcomers Toby Jones, James Cromwell, and Get Down star Justice SmithJurassic World 2 opens in theaters on June 22, 2018.

The G.I. JOE Movie Franchise is Getting a Fresh Start with a Revamped Look That Will Appeal to Young Audiences

It's no secret that I didn't like what Paramount Pictures did with the G.I. Joe franchise at all. I grew up on all things G.I. Joe, that franchise was my favorite thing as a kid and I still love it. Unfortunately, the studio handled the property completely wrong. I've always felt that the franchise needed a complete overhaul, and now the studio is moving forward with it. I just don't know if what they are planning will be any better than what they've already done.

During an interview with LA Times, it's explained that Paramount has big plans for rebooting the G.I. Joe franchise with "a revamped look intended to appeal to younger audiences." Simon Waters, who oversees consumer products at Hasbro Studios, said that they want to take "a more millennial approach." He explains:

"The world has changed, and I think you’re going to see G.I. Joe changing with it. There’s going to be a much more contemporary approach to the whole franchise, and that will allow us to develop different characters."

Steve Davis, Chief Content Officer at the studio, went on to say that the next run at G.I. Joe will give us a different kind of 'Joe':

"We hope to create a head snap. It’s a different kind of ‘Joe’ — one that still resonates with ‘Joe’ fans but brings in an uninitiated audience and expands the audience internationally and domestically."

If this next attempt at G.I. Joe ends up being successful, it will allow for the rest of the Hasbro cinematic universe to thrive. They will eventually incorporate characters from other popular Hasbro properties including ROM, Micronauts, Visionaries and M.A.S.K.

Look, I have no idea what to expect from this reboot. There's so much potential with the franchise, though, so many great characters to work with, so many stories to tell! I previously offered my own pitch of what the studio could do, saying:

If they were going to relaunch the franchise, I don’t think they should necessarily start out by focusing on the big hitters like Duke, Roadblock, and Snake Eyes. They will exist in the universe, but I think they just need to be more in the background running things while the focus is put on some of the other great characters who have been created as they are running missions against Cobra.
For example, you could have a several different teams that could consist of combinations of characters like Gung Ho, Shockwave, Lifeline, Wild Bill, Ace, Wet Suit, Law & Order, Quick Kick, Rock ’n Roll, Torpedo, Low-Light, Mutt & Junkyard, Tunnel Rat, Alpine, Jinx, Spirit, Dusty, Beach Head, Shipwreck, Lady Jaye, Scarlett, and Snow Job. There are a ton more I could list, but you get the idea.
Mix and match the characters across multiple films! You could do a whole movie with just Shipwreck and Beach Head as they team up to stop Cobra from deploying some kind of terrorist attack. You could have Scarlett and Lady Jaye kick some ass together in their own story. Since it would be a cinematic universe, other characters can come in and out of it whenever they are needed, just like Marvel Studios does with its films. They could make for some incredible, intense, fun, amusing, and action-packed movies! Eventually they could lead into storylines that could involve the bigger characters Duke and Snake Eyes after you win the audiences over with the smaller characters like Marvel did with Iron Man. I just think they need to hold off on those characters because they overused them in the previous films.

As a lifelong fan of the franchise I want these movies to be great, I want them to succeed! Hopefully this time around they will get it right. I have no issues with these films appealing to a younger audience, I was young when I first got hooked! I just hope that the stories they tell are solid and the characters they play with are developed properly.

7 More Things You Might Not Have Known About the FAST & FURIOUS Movies

With The Fate of the Furious little more than a week away, Cinefix has dropped a new episode of their "Things You Didn't Know" video series that focuses on the franchise. This is the third video they've done about this particular film series, and there's a chance a lot of you ride or die members of the Fast #family might already know all of these pieces of trivia. Hell, we've written about at least one of them individually here on the site before. But either way, this will give you some nice talking points to discuss in the theater next week as you're waiting for the new movie to start.

Ridley Scott Reveals His Original Ending For ALIEN and It's Pretty Brutal

$

0

When Ridley Scott embarked on his dark journey to direct the 1979 classic film Alien, he had very different ending envisioned for the film. The franchise would have been a lot different had he followed through with this ending. Hell, James Cameron would have never made Aliens!

Scott's original vision for the ending saw Ripley fail in her attempt to kill the Xenomorph and in the process of trying to kill it, she is brutally destroyed. When talking about it with EW, the director revealed:

"I thought that the alien should come in, and Ripley harpoons it and it makes no difference, so it slams through her mask and rips her head off."

It didn't end there. The director then went on to explain that after Ripley's meets her tragic demise, he also wanted to cut to the xenomorph pressing some buttons on the dashboard of the ship, before it would then "mimic Captain Dallas [Tom Skerritt] saying, 'I'm signing off'."

It sounds like a shocking end now because of everything that Ripley has been through since in the franchise. But had she been killed off at the end of the original movie before we knew Ripley would return in Aliens, it probably would've worked as a crazy shocking ending.

I'm glad Scott didn't kill off Ripley because then we would've never got Aliens, and I can't imagine living in a world without Aliens. What do you all think about Scott original ending for Alien?
