So I'm an idiot, and all this time I thought those traffic dodging videos online were actually people risking their lives for fame and fortune. Turns out that's not true, which gives me comfort knowing people are smarter than that, and also makes me glad I didn't attempt it for fame and fortune. Captain Disillusion shares the secret and shows you how to do the surprisingly basic editing to fake the sequence and gets thousands of views below.

We're living in the age of Peak TV, when even television critics — whose job it is to watch and review TV shows — literally can't do their jobs like they used to because there is no longer enough time for them to watch the explosion of new shows that are on right now. And those are people who watch TV all day for work. Think of us, the regular people who just like watching TV and trying to keep up with popular shows so we can stay in the cultural conversation. Before long, we start to look like the guy in this College Humor video. Don't let it happen to you.

Sylvester Stallone Leaves THE EXPENDABLES Franchise

0
0

The time has come. The Expendables has finally lost their champion, Sylvester Stallone. Granted, they have many others to replace him, that's why they're the expendables, but still. Stallone in many ways was the heart of The Expendables. It was he who pulled everything together, he who led the team into victory, he who started this whole "let's get the biggest action stars of all time for a team-up movie" thing. And now he has said his goodbyes to the franchise.

Much of the reason for Sly's leave has to do with differences in the direction of the next installment of the franchise between him and Image/Millenium chief Avi Lerner. They cannot decide on a new director, script and even visual effects. Although currently, Stallone has officially left the franchise, there still is a chance he may come back. Lerner has gone on the record saying:

"We've got disagreements with Sly, but we've had them for over a year and a half. Right now, each one has an opinion. We agreed on 95 percent of things, but there are certain things in production we don't agree on. I don't think it's over, but write whatever you want. In my opinion, it's not dead."

So Lerner says it's not dead yet, but only time will tell both whether Stallone is gone from The Expendables and if the series itself is done. Without Stallone, The Expendables just isn't as Expendy.

Will Turner Featured in New PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES TV Spot

Ahh, Trailers and TV Spots. Both the love of my life and the bane of my existence. On one hand, finally getting a new look at Orlando Bloom in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in this new TV spot is exciting because it's Will Turner and he's all Davy Jonesified. On the other hand, now when I see the movie and he inevitably shows up, I'll just be like: Oh. Ya. The thing from the TV spot. Anyways...

The new spot is Pretty good. It's a TV spot, so there's not a whole lot to say about it. Will Turner looks cool. You only see him for a second, so just blink at around 14 seconds in if you want to miss him. If you want to check it out below, you can. If you want to wait till the big screen to see it, do that. I'm not your Boss.

Creepy-Ass Trailer for the Horror Film ANNABELLE: CREATION

0
0

She's back. Or I guess this is sort of a prequel so she's here for the first time? The sequel/prequel/in-universe connection to The Conjuring film, Annabelle: Creation, starring everyone's favorite haunted doll has just received a trailer. It's just as scary as you might think it would be... depending on how scary you think things are. I grew up with a mother who had shelves full of dolls all around the house, so this terrifies me.

The first Annabelle movies was kinda meh, but this movie offers to up the ante by giving the full backstory of where the Annabelle doll came from, and why it's such a jerk. Spoiler: it might be Satan. The setting of the trailer already invokes spooky but not in the same sense as other modern scary movies.

Scary House. Check. Door no one is allowed to open. Check.  Nuns. Check. Lights mysteriously going out. Check. The brief synopsis reads:

Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.

One thing that sparks interest from this first trailer for me is that it seems the main girl that Annabelle is dicking around with, is crippled. Sort of, she has to use crutches to walk, and then a wheelchair, so she's definitely not at full health. I enjoy scary films with a disabled protagonist, not because I hate the disabled and want them to get haunted and killed, but because it gives a reason as to why the character is more vulnerable than others. It makes you more scared for them, because shoot, they can't run away!

The producer is James Wan who made the first Saw. You know, the good one, and the director is David F. Sandberg who directed the remarkably good horror movie Lights Out. So, despite its ties with varied other sequels and knock-offs, I am intrigued by this film. Of course, I could be completely wrong, but take a look at the new trailer and then decide. Annabelle: Creation comes out August 11th.

Adventurous New Trailer for THE MUMMY Unleashes the Monsters

adventurous-new-trailer-for-the-mummy-unleashes-the-monsters11

Universal Pictures has unleashed the new trailer for Tom Cruise's The Mummy and it gives us our best look yet at the film. Not only does it share lots of new footage, but it also offers us some new story details about the origin of this new Mummy and why she is hell-bent on taking over the world.

This is actually a really fun trailer and has a very adventurous tone. As a fan of the original Universal Monster films, it's hard for me to get behind this modern-day reboot, but it certainly looks like it will be entertaining. Like I said before, it's like a Mission: Impossible and Mummy mashup film. It's Ethan Hunt's greatest adventure yet!

Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

Cruise is joined by a cast including Annabelle Wallis (King Arthur), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Courtney B. Vance (American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson) and Russell Crowe (Gladiator).

The action-adventure horror film was directed by Alex Kurtzman (Transformers, Star Trek, and Mission: Impossible). The Mummy hits theaters on June 9th! Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think!

Marvel and the Geico insurance company has teamed up for a cross-promotion commercial in which Baby Groot and the Geico Gecko team up to talk about insurance.

In the commercial, the Gecko is watching Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in a movie theater and he begins to image what it might be like to team-up with the superhero team. When he comes face-to-face with Baby Groot he ends up getting frustrated because when Groot sasys "Geico could save you fifteen percent or more..." it comes out as "I am Groot".

It's a pretty fun ad that you can enjoy watching below.

Update on Marvel Comic's Mysterious Hulk/Wolverine Hybrid Story

So about a month ago, we all were shown an interesting image of a Hulk looking thing with Wolverine looking claws in a test tube. Well, some new light has been shown on what many are calling 'Hulkverine". That sounds terrible. Please say they get a better name for it.

Anyway, the largest mystery was who or what this creature is considering Banner is dead and original Wolverine is dead. Now granted, this could be some weird resurrection cult. In a different issue of comics, namely Uncanny Avengers some ninjas from the Fist which is like a weird offshoot of the Hand stole Bruce Banner's body and tried bringing him back to life as a Hulk Ninja. Ya. Kindof the worst combo in the world. Take what is quite possibly the WORST stealth character in Marvel and make him a ninja. That's like turning Spiderman into a responsible adult... which I guess they did. Ok, it's like turning Deadpool into a Pacifist... which they also did kinda recently. Fine, it's like turning Iron Man into a Kindergarten Teacher. Am I good? Has marvel done that yet? Oh. Iron Man's dead? ok then. We good.

This new image which was posted on Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso posted on Twitter a few days ago shows a blueprint on the Hulk with claws. Now, the biggest flaw I can imagine right from the get-go is does the Hulk stay the hulk,? Because if he shrinks and the bones are adamantium he's gonna rip up.

We now have a little more info about where this Hulk/Wolverine is going to fit in. There is a new Weapon X that is in the comics and they are messing with all things crazy. Namely Batch H. It will play a main role in a crossover titled "Weapons of Mutant Destruction". This crossover of the Totally Awesome Hulk and Weapon X comic series will have current Hulk, Amadeus Cho, teaming up with a team of mutants led by Old Man Logan trying to stop Weapon X from killing the mutant race. Finally, back to stories that make sense. The team that Logan leads includes Old standby's like Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, Domino and Warpath. We'll have to see where this all leads to in April when the crossover begins but you can start reading the first issue of Weapon X and Amadeus Cho now.

Sinbad Stars in Hilarious Fake SHAZAAM Film Footage For Aprils Fools Day

0

One of the greatest April Fools Day joke to hit the internet this year was some fake video footage of a non-existent 1990s Sinbad movie called Shazaam

For those of you, who aren't familiar with Sinbad's Shazaam, there's a strange phenomenon where a ton of people who grew up in the 90s have memories of watching a film called Shazaam that starred the comedian Sinbad. The funny thing is... the movie has never existed.

This phenomenon is known as The Mandela Effect, in which "a large number of people share false memories of past events, referred to as confabulation in psychiatry. Some have speculated that the memories are caused by parallel universes spilling into our own, while others explain the phenomenon as a failure of collective memory."

Anyway, Sinbad teamed up with College Humor to create some footage from this movie that so many people have claimed to have memories of seeing and it actually turned out to be fun and clever. It looks exactly like something you'd totally seen in a silly 1990s kids movie. Check it out!

Pennywise is Replaced with Mike Myers' THE CAT IN THE HAT in This IT Trailer Mashup

The trailer for Andres Muschietti's adaptation of Stephen King's horror novel It left a huge impact when it dropped last week, quickly breaking a record and becoming the most-watched trailer of all time (during a 24-hour period). For some reason, I didn't think that the parodies would start quite this quickly, but yet again, I've underestimated the internet.

Someone has put together a mashup trailer (via /Film) that replaces Pennywise the Clown (aka "It") with Mike Myers' version of The Cat in the Hat from his ill-fated live-action movie. The result is somehow just as scary — especially the moment in the basement at the very end.

Bruce Wayne's Transformation Begins in New Promo for GOTHAM Season 3

A new promo spot has been released for the upcoming episode of Gotham Season 3 and it focuses on the continuing journey of Bruce Wayne. The promo is called "The Transformation Begins" and we see Bruce begin his training to become the protector of Gotham City.

During the WonderCon 2017 panel this past weekend, we learned that Bruce Wayne will struggle with an identity crisis and according to actor David Mazouz and producer Danny Cannon Season 3 will lead to a climactic moment of a major decision that Bruce will have to make. Mazouz says:

“Bruce will go through a major transformation in these last eight episodes of the season, and it will result in him making a decision that he’s been searching for, for a very long time. It will be the most important decision of his life. He is going to live out the reason he was created, and it will have very bad consequences for Bruce—catastrophic consequences. I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s not going to be pretty.”

This first look at the return of Season 3 is pretty cool, especially if you're a fan of the series. It's been fun watching these classic Gotham characters evolve in this series and Bruce is slowly but surely making his transformation into Batman.

Marvel VP Blames Women and Diversity For Marvel Comic's Slump in Sales

0
0

I'm curious to know what you all think about this. As you know Marvel Comics has been changing up a lot of their comics and making them more diverse, which I think great. We live in a time where diversity is a big deal and comic books have always reflected the things that are going on in our society, so this is kind of a natural progression of comics and the stories they tell.

According to Marvel VP of Sales, David Gabriel, this progression is the reason why Marvel Comic's sales have declined.  In a recent interview with icv2.com, he points the finger at woman and diversity saying:

"What we heard was that people didn’t want any more diversity. They didn’t want female characters out there. That’s what we heard, whether we believe that or not. I don’t know that that’s really true, but that’s what we saw in sales. We saw the sales of any character that was diverse, any character that was new, our female characters, anything that was not a core Marvel character, people were turning their nose up against. That was difficult for us because we had a lot of fresh, new, exciting ideas that we were trying to get out and nothing new really worked."

Of course, he later went on contradict himself a bit saying that diverse characters like Miles Morales, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Gwen, and Moon Girl are are all popular, and won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

I see a lot of the fans online embracing the diversity changes, regardless of that, Marvel Comics sales are still down and that slump seems to be getting worse. I don't think the blame should necessarily be put on woman and diversity. I don't know if you've been following the comics that are coming out, but there is so much going on! There's a ridiculous amount of Marvel crossover event series' with so much going on and they don't make it easy to follow because they all overlap with each other. Then there's the fact that they recently turned Captain America into a Hydra agent, which isn't going to help sales either. You can't pull that shit on a popular character like Captain America and not expect there to be a backlash and slump in sales.

On top of all that, buying comics has become an expensive hobby! It costs $3.99 to $5.99 or more for comics these days and buying all of those comics to follow everything that is going on in the Marvel universe becomes pricey. That's the main reason I had to cut back on buying comics.

In the end, I think the diversity of the comics is the least of Marvel's problems. I believe they are actually bringing in more of an audience by attracting different demographics. I think the solution is simplifying things. They don't need all these crazy crossover events to stay relevant. Yeah, they can still do them, but I think twelve a year is a little accessive. Things don't need to be over complicated.

Ms. Marvel co-creator and writer G. Willow Wilson shared her thoughts on Gabriel’s comments with a post on Tumblr, saying:

1. This is a personal opinion, but IMO launching a legacy character by killing off or humiliating the original character sets the legacy character up for failure. Who wants a legacy if the legacy is shitty?
2. Diversity as a form of performative guilt doesn’t work. Let’s scrap the word diversity entirely and replace it with authenticity and realism. This is not a new world. This is *the world.*
3. Never try to be the next whoever. Be the first and only you. People smell BS a mile away.
4. The direct market and the book market have diverged. Never the twain shall meet. We need to accept this and move on, and market accordingly.
5. Not for nothing, but there is a direct correlation between the quote unquote “diverse” Big 2 properties that have done well (Luke Cage, Black Panther, Ms Marvel, Batgirl) and properties that have A STRONG SENSE OF PLACE. It’s not “diversity” that draws those elusive untapped audiences, it’s particularity. This is a vital distinction nobody seems to make. This goes back to authenticity and realism.

What do you all think about what Gabrial had to say? Why do you think Marvel Comics' is in a sales slump. Sound off in the comment section below.

Nissan Partners With Lucasfilm For ROGUE ONE Car And STAR WARS VR Experience

Nissan has partnered with LucasFilm studios to help them develop a new car and the first VR experience the studio has ever created. First, let's talk about the Nissan Rogue One, which I recently saw when I went with Nissan out to San Francisco, California!

The Star Wars bells and whistles on the 2017 Nissan Rogue One are subtle, but somehow manage to be sleek and geek at the same time. With two color options (black and white) the first major thing you'll notice that is Star Wars about this car is the metal engraving on the side signed off on by none other than Kathleen Kennedy herself. Work your way into the interior and you'll see lighted logos for the franchise as you enter, Rogue and Rebel alliance cup holders, and a sweet decal along the back side. Purchase one of these bad boys and you'll also get a limited edition Death Trooper Helmet, which is only being given out to the 5,000 people who purchase this vehicle.

On the tech side, Nissan has partnered with Industrial Light & Magic to create their first ever foray into the VR world, ”Battle Test: A Nissan 360-Degree Virtual Reality Experience.” The experience (which looks incredible) can be downloaded today on Oculus, Samsung VR, Steam, Discovery VR and other VR platforms. A 360 version of the video is also expected to be uploaded to Nissan's YouTube channel. If you don't have VR, the experience gives you a first person perspective of the popular ad the company launched last year:

The app, while a marketing technique, is worth checking out for sure as it's the first VR app for Industrial Light & Magic and absolutely reeks of the quality they're known for. Hands down, this is the most visually impressive VR app I've seen to date. Check out some screenshots below:

Pick up the app for FREE on Steam today and all other devices. What are your thoughts on the car? To be honest, I never thought I would be an SUV guy, but those small SUV's can really move!

Disney has launched a new digital series in which they recreate moments from the studio's biggest movies using LEGO pieces (and a hefty dose of special effects), and their latest entry celebrates Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. There's a moment in here when Darth Vader employs a pun that's almost as cheesy as the pun he uses in the actual movie!
