I don't think many people will deny The Matrix is a phenomenal movie. The sequels? You might be in for a debate...but the first film was dope. My main man Eclectic Method is back with a movie remix that will take you back to the '90s and make you bring those glowsticks out of retirement. Check out the video below, and maybe watch The Matrix later today?

How ILM Created the Visual Effects of KONG: SKULL ISLAND

In a new video for Wired, host Mike Seymour breaks down how the team at Industrial Light & Magic created the breathtaking visual effects in Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Kong: Skull Island. I wasn't a fan of this film's script, but the VFX are undeniably impressive, so this is a cool look behind the scenes even for people who didn't love the movie. I especially liked the segment in which the video talks about how actor Toby Kebbell was acting opposite himself (he played a human character and also provided the motion and facial capture for Kong in the film). Take a look:

Jack Reynor Was "Afraid" of Being Cast as Han Solo in the STAR WARS Spin-Off

My introduction to actor Jack Reynor was in Transformers: Age of Extinction, and I'll admit, I was ready to write him off entirely from the very beginning. But I've since come to realize that he certainly couldn't have saved that movie singlehandedly, and I've also seen him play different types of characters in both Sing Street and Free Fire; in short, he's a fine actor who got in over his head in a blockbuster movie and seems to have come out relatively unscathed. But according to the actor himself, he might not have come out of Lucasfilm's upcoming Han Solo standalone movie unscathed. He was originally up for the role of the titular space smuggler, and thanks to a new interview with The Irish Times (via ScreenCrush), we know he's relieved he didn't get the part:

That Han Solo movie is going to be really tough. I think the guy who is doing it is a really good actor, but, for myself, I was afraid of it. I kept thinking: if you f --- this up you’ll ruin people’s childhoods. If it doesn’t turn out great, you won’t be forgiven. That’s a lot of responsibility. And even if it goes great, you’ll do it, people will know you only from that and that defines your career. That would be very difficult.

Anyone approaching the role with that mentality probably wouldn't have been able to bring the necessary swagger to the character, so it sounds like it's a good thing Reynor didn't get the part. I'm also convinced he's better as a supporting player rather than a lead, so hopefully the fact that he's not tied into a franchise machine will mean we'll see him pop up in more spectacular indies like Sing Street over the next few years.

TRUE DETECTIVE Season 3 is in the Works at HBO with Nic Pizzolatto and David Milch

It looks like HBO is finally moving forward with True Detective Season 3. I'm a big fan of this dark and gritty drama anthology series, and it'll be interesting to see what creator Nic Pizzolatto does next with it. According to Variety, Deadwood creator David Milch is working with Pizzolatto on the series and they are currently in the early process of writing the script.

When previously talking about the possibility of a third season, HBO's former president of programming, Michael Lombardo, said:

"I'd love to do another season. I haven't asked every one of the 12 million viewers who is watching, but I think what he's doing is so much bolder, braver and satisfying that what I'm seeing in film. I'd happily be in business with him for a long time."

It's been almost two years since the second season was released, which starred Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Rachel McAdams. It wasn't met with the best reviews, but I still enjoyed watching it. It definitely wasn't the same caliber as Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson's Season 1, though.

I'm happy that HBO is giving the series a third shot to tell another compelling story. I think with Milch and Pizzolatto working on the next season together, we'll get something completely unexpected that's going to turn out great.

Creepy New Photos From Stephen King's IT Feature Pennywise and The Losers Club

The excitement is building for the feature film adaptation of Stephen King's classic horror story It. If you're a fan of this book, these three creepy new images that have been released by USA Today are sure to get you even more excited for what is coming.

The new photos include Pennywise the Clown hiding behind a red balloon as well as an image of the creature scaring the shit out of The Losers Club. The third image features our young heroes gathered together as they look at some pictures with an old slide projector. I imagine at some point during this scene one of those pictures is going to start to play like a movie and Pennywise is going to threaten their lives!

"I'll kill you all! I'll drive you crazy, and I'll kill you all! I'm every nightmare you've ever had! I'm your worst dream come true! I'M EVERYTHING YOU EVER WERE AFRAID OF! RAAAAH!"

Here's another description of the film:

An updated adaptation of King’s 1986 best-selling novel, It turns Pennywise (played by Bill Skarsgård) loose on seemingly quaint Derry, Maine, where a group of kids known as the Losers’ Club attempts to stop him and his latest murderous mission. The movie is the first of a planned two-part epic directed by Andrés Muschietti (Mama) with a narrative like the book that spans two time periods, following the main characters as children in 1989 (in the book, the story starts in the 1950s) and as adults three decades later.
Derry has an infamous history of missing youngsters, and the culprit is an evil nameless entity that appears every 30 years and lurks in the underground sewer system. When young Bill Denbrough (Jaeden Lieberher) loses his brother to Pennywise’s latest reign of terror, he teams with a bunch of other children who’ve also encountered the malevolent force: overweight Ben Hanscom (Jeremy Ray Taylor), loudmouth Richie Tozier (Finn Wolfhard), clean freak Stan Uris (Wyatt Oleff), history lover Mike Hanlon (Chosen Jacobs), hypochondriac Eddie Kaspbrak (Jack Dylan Grazer) and tomboy Beverly Marsh (Sophia Lillis).

This is the first of two films that are being released. The second is set 30 years later in the present day when the monster returns and the group of friends are forced to come back together as adults to destroy It once and for all. About Pennywise the clown, the director said:

“It’s a tiny bit of information, but that sticks with you so much. Maybe it is real as long as children believe in it. And in a way, Pennywise’s character is motivated by survival. In order to be alive in the imagination of children, he has to keep killing.
“It’s established that Pennywise takes the shape of your worst fear. He doesn’t have a steady behavior, he doesn’t expose how he thinks, and that’s what makes him really unpredictable.”

When talking about the second film and what these characters are going through as adults, he explained:

“It’s about remembering things that they have forgot. Getting back in touch with those memories is such an important part of the plot,” says Muschietti, adding that there are a few hints in this fall’s It “that make you think about what will happen 30 years later when Pennywise comes again.”

The first film is set to be released on September 8th, 2017.

Spider-Man Swings Into Action in Awesome New Trailer for SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

You've all been waiting for it and now it's here! Marvel and Sony have released the new trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming, and you guys are going to freakin' love it! The trailer is packed full of action-packed new footage that also includes Iron Man and Vulture, and it offers some more new story details.

This is an awesome trailer and I know you're all gonna enjoy it. Spider-Man: Homecoming is going to be a hell of a spectacular film! Watch the trailer and then read my thoughts on the trailer below. You can also watch our video reaction to it here.

One of the most interesting aspects of this new trailer is that Peter Parker is so eager to impress Tony Stark and ends up disappointing him in the process, so Stark takes Peter's super awesome Spider-Man suit from Captain America: Civil War away from him. This is what causes him to have to wear his homemade suit again. It's actually a really great story dynamic that forces Peter to learn the powerful lesson of responsibility and what it takes to be a real hero.

I love the scene when Peter says, "But I'm nothing without this suit," and Stark basically tells him if he's nothing without the suit that he doesn't deserve it. Peter needs to go back to the basics to find his inner power and confidence in himself. Of course, in the process, he battles The Vulture, who is pissed off at Stark for his own reasons.

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Jon Watts is directing the film, and it has a strong cast that also includes Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, JacobBatalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7th, 2017. To catch up on all of our Spider-Man: Homecoming news, click here.

Whiplash and Fantastic Four star Miles Teller is set to star in Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn's Amazon series Too Old to Die Young. Refn will direct all ten episodes of the series, which explores a hidden world of assassins.

The series is in "a similar vein to Refn’s Pusher trilogy, which looked at Danish criminals caught up in the drug trade. It explores various characters’ existential journeys from being killers to becoming samurai’s in the city of angels."

According to THR, Teller will play a character named Martin, "a police officer entangled in the criminal underbelly of Los Angeles." The site goes on to offer the following new story details:

Die Young tells of a grieving police officer who, along with the man who shot his partner, finds himself in an underworld filled with working-class hit men, Yakuza soldiers, cartel assassins sent from Mexico, Russian mafia captains and gangs of teen killers. Amazon, which made the casting announcement on Monday, says the series will follow "killers’ existential journeys in becoming samurai."

This seems like a solid project for Teller to be a part of, and with Refn at the helm, we know for a fact it's gonna be an interesting series.

The cast of the hit '90s TV series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air recently got together for a little reunion at the beach, and Will Smith joined in the fun. As you'll see in the photo below posted by Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Carlton, everyone is all smiles. The photo also includes Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Daphne Maxwell Reid, and Joseph Marcell. and it came with the following caption:

"Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince family. Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete."

I always enjoyed this show and seeing the cast back together again makes me wonder if anyone has thought about the possibility of a revival series. I'm not saying anyone would or should do it, but I'm there are some fans out there that could get behind the idea.

Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince family. Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete.

Trailer: Casey Affleck's A GHOST STORY Is a Very Different Kind of Supernatural Film

trailer-for-casey-afflecks-a-ghost-story-is-a-very-different-kind-of-supernatural-film

A Ghost Story was one of the most buzzed about films at The Sundance Film festival this year. It comes from writer-director David Lowery (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Pete’s Dragon) and stars Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea) and Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).

If you're expecting a horror film, that's not what this is at all. This is a very different kind of supernatural movie, and I'm not sure if you'll like it or not. You've gotta really be into weird indie films. Don't get me wrong, the movie does have a certain charm to it that I liked, but it's not for everyone. Casey Affleck literally wears a sheet through the majority of the film as a ghost.

The movie was met with a lot of positive reviews at the festival, and this trailer will give you a good sense of what this movie is about and whether or not it's a movie you'll want to see. The synopsis reads:

Lowery’s meticulously sparse narrative contemplates a spectral figure who was once a man (Casey Affleck). Prematurely taken from this Earth, he makes his way toward his former home, where he is fated to remain forevermore. Shrouded in a white sheet, he observes the lament of his grief-stricken lover (Rooney Mara). Bearing unseen witness to her pain, the wisp stands sentry for years to come, interacting only with time as it hurtles further and further forward, the remnants of his humanity quietly evaporating.

A Ghost Story will hit theaters on July 7, 2017.

Trailer for the Horror Movie WISH UPON Reminds You To Be Careful What You Wish For

Joey King stars in a new horror thriller called Wish Upon in which she plays a bullied teenage girl who comes into possession of a music box. That music box grants her seven wishes, so of course, the first thing she does is wish that one of the girls bullying her will rot. As you'd expect, the music box has a long history of ruining the lives of people who have had it in their possession.

We’ve got a new trailer for you to watch for the film today, and if you’re into horror movies it might be a film worth checking out. It seems like we’ve seen this kind of story told over and over again over the years in different horror films, so, unfortunately, it doesn’t feel fresh or unique.

The movie was directed by John R. Leonetti, who also directed The Conjuring spinoff film, Annabelle. It looks like it could be a fun horror film to check out if you’ve got nothing better to do. Who knows, maybe it will unexpectedly be a good movie. Here's the synopsis:

Twelve years after discovering her mother’s suicide, 17-year-old Clare Shannon (Joey King) is bullied in high school, embarrassed by her manic, hoarder father Jonathan (Ryan Phillippe) and ignored by her longtime crush. All that changes when her father comes home with an old music box whose inscription promises to grant its owner seven wishes.
While Clare is initially skeptical of this magic box, she can’t help but be seduced by its dark powers, and is thrilled as her life radically improves with each wish. Clare finally has the life she’s always wanted and everything seems perfect – until the people closest to her begin dying in violent and elaborate ways after each wish. Clare realizes that she must get rid of the box, but finds herself unable and unwilling to part with her new-and-improved life – leading her down a dark and dangerous path.

Wish Upon arrives in theaters on June 30, 2017.

First Poster and Brief Spot for Stephen King's IT and a Trailer is Coming Tomorrow!2

A brief teaser has been released for the highly anticipated feature film adaptation of Stephen King's It. The promo is basically here to tell us that an official trailer is being released tomorrow, and I can't freakin' wait! I'm so excited to see what the footage from this movie is going to look like!

We don't get to see any of the characters in the spot below, but we do hear a few of the characters revealing to each other that they've seen Pennywise the Clown.

The film is based on the novel by Stephen King, whose story recalls a promise made twenty-eight years ago that forces seven adults to reunite in Derry, Maine, where as teenagers they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children. Unsure that their Losers Club had vanquished the creature all those years ago, the seven had vowed to return to Derry if IT should ever reappear. Now, children are being murdered again and their repressed memories of that summer return as they prepare to do battle with the monster lurking in Derry’s sewers once more.

The movie stars Jaeden Lieberher (Midnight Special) as Bill Denbrough, Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) as Richie Tozier, newcomer Sophia Lillis as Beverly Marsh, Jack Dylan Grazer (Tales of Halloween) as Stan Uris, Wyatt Oleff (Guardians of the Galaxy) as Eddie Kaspbrak, Chosen Jacobs (Hawaii Five-0) as Mike Hanlon, Jeremy Ray Taylor (42) as Ben Hanscom, and Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise.

The first film is set to be released on September 8th, 2017.

Video: Movies and the Historic Events They Depict Seen Side by Side

When I'm watching a movie that's based on a true story or historic event, I'm largely concerned with whether it manages to accurately capture the essence of that event. But often, filmmakers go the extra mile to recreate moments as closely as they possibly can to the real event, and unless you're an expert in that particular event, you wouldn't even notice how close Hollywood can get to the truth. You'll see what I mean in this video from editor Vugar Efendi (via /Film), which places Hollywood versions and footage from real events side by side for easy comparison.
