Amusing Wolverine Parody Short Focuses on an Actual Old Man Logan

The Warp Zone focuses its newest parody on the latest installment in the X-Men franchise, Logan. Even the Wolverine is no match for Father Time in this comedy short. Trapped in a retirement home, Logan is dealing with dementia, fleeing the orderlies, reminiscing about the good old days, and getting the last tapioca pudding. Granted, some of it is low-hanging fruit, but it's good for a chuckle.

Russell Crowe Responds to Suggestion That He Should Play Cable in DEADPOOL 2

There has been a lot of speculation about who might end up playing the growling, time-traveling mutant Cable in the upcoming sequel to Deadpool. There have been campaigns from actors like Stephen Lang and Ron Perlman, and suggestions from fans for people ranging from Pierce Brosnan to Jon Hamm. But although Deadpool and Cable creator Rob Liefeld was the one who suggested Hamm should play Cable, he seems to have changed his tune. Now he's thinking Russell Crowe should play the part, and Crowe has responded on Twitter (via /Film).

Here's how the exchange went down. First, Liefeld told Crowe that the actor should read for the part:

Then Crowe responded:

It's unclear whether Crowe was messing around and just acting as if he was vaguely offended at the notion of needing to read for the role instead of just having it offered to him, or if he was actually serious with that response. Either way, he replied again to Liefeld soon after:

That's the last we've heard from Crowe on the matter, and though it seems like it'd be a bizarre way to cast someone, stranger things have happened. Vin Diesel took suggestions from his Facebook fans about who they want to see him work with, and those suggestions led to Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson being cast in the Fast & Furious franchise. So it's not completely crazy to think that the creator of Deadpool and Cable could have a bit of influence over who might play the character in a movie...though it obviously falls to producer/star Ryan Reynolds and director David Leitch to make the final call. They're going to have to make a decision soon, so we look forward to seeing if they decide Crowe would be a good fit for the part.

What do you think? Would Crowe make a good Cable?

Tim Robbins To Star New HBO Series From SIX FEET UNDER and TRUE BLOOD Creator Alan Ball

The creator of Six Feet Under and True Blood, Alan Ball, is developing a new series for HBO! There’s no title for it yet, but it’s set to star Tim Robbins and Holly Hunter.

I’m a fan of the series that Ball has developed, and this new one definitely sounds interesting. Ball wrote all 10 episodes of the series, and according to Deadline, it’s a family drama that focuses on a multiracial family. This is what it’s about:

Philosophy professor Greg Bishop (Robbins), his lawyer wife Audrey (Hunter), their three adopted children from Somalia (Jerrika Hinton), Vietnam (Raymond Lee) and Colombia (Daniel Zovatto), and their sole biological child (Sosie Bacon). This seemingly perfect, progressive family is in actuality harboring deep rifts. Then, one of the children begins to see things others cannot. Is it mental illness? Or something else? The series is a tragicomic meditation on the complicated forces at work on us all in America today. Robbins’ Greg questions his life, his purpose, and the world in which he lives – a world in which it seems the bad guys have won – and his strained relationship with his wife Audrey adds to his overall anxiety.

It definitely sounds like the kind of story that you’d expect from Ball. He always brings something special to the shows he makes, and this new series sounds like it won’t be an exception. It sounds like it will be a fantastic series with an intriguing concept and subject matter that will draw in the viewers. I can already see myself getting sucked into this show.

Beautifully Edited Hayao Miyazaki Tribute Video - MIYAZAKI DREAMS OF FLYING

Director Hayao Miyazaki is responsible for some of the most beloved animated films in the world. Fandor explores a recurring theme that permeates his body of work: flight. Beautifully edited together, the iconic scenes gave me goosebumps as I saw Totoro, Kiki, Porco, and the rest take to the sky. Intercut are scenes of Miyazaki speaking of Jiro Horikoshi, the aircraft engineer the film, The Wind Rises is based on, contemplating how a man who made warplanes was antiwar. It's a fantastic short video essay, and I think anyone will appreciate it

A Green Lantern Character Is Rumored to Appear in JUSTICE LEAGUE

From everything we've learned about Zack Snyder's Justice League film up until this point, Green Lantern has had no place in the film. We know that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment plan on releasing their Green Lantern Corps film in 2020, but there's a chance we won't have to wait that long before we see the cosmic heroes up on the big screen.

According to major scooper Umberto Gonzalez, Snyder will be including a Green Lantern character in Justice League after all.  He wouldn't reveal which one it is, but he does say that the character will have a "funny sounding name." That rules out Guy Gardner, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and any other human Green Lantern Corps characters. He says:

"Yes, there is a Green Lantern in Justice League, but I forgot how to pronounce it."

Since there's been no official confirmation of this from the studio or anyone involved with the development of Justice League, treat this as a rumor. However, it does make sense that we'd see some kind of Green Lantern action in the movie to set the corps up in the DCEU mythology.

Characters it could be include Jediah Caul, Abin Sur, Tomar-Re, Isamot Kol, Vandor, Kilowog, Sheriff Mardin, and more. According to another site, Geek Feed, though, they were contacted six months ago by someone who had visited the set of the movie and said they saw some concept art on display of who the character could be. They say it's Abin Sure, who is the Green Lantern who passes the ring on to Hal Jordan.

We'll just have to wait until we have confirmation or until the movie comes out on November 17th. What Green Lantern Corps character do you think it could be? Which character would you like it to be?

Cool STAR WARS REBELS Easter Eggs for INDIANA JONES, REVENGE OF THE SITH, and More

In the most recent episode of Star Wars Rebels, "Through Imperial Eyes," fans got a close look at Grand Admiral Thrawn's office in his Star Destroyer, and you might have missed some pretty cool little Easter eggs.

Thanks to a recent episode of Rebels Recon, those Easter eggs were officially pointed out by Art Director Kilian Plunkett. Those Easter eggs include the Holy Grail from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade; the helmet of the Clone Trooper that Yoda decapitated in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith; a painting of Lothal on the wall that is actual concept art from legendary Star Wars artist Ralph McQuarrie; and a bust of an Abednedo, which is the same species as the pilot Ello Asty in The Force Awakens. I don't know if you remember or not, but the Abednedo were named after Beastie Boys songs and albums by J.J. Abrams including Ello Asty (Hello Nasty). Ilco Munica (Ill Communication), Oddy Muva (Body Movin'), and Brasmon Kee (Brass Monkey).

Watch the video below starting the 3:26 point to watch Plunkett talk about these cool Easter eggs.

Vera Farmiga Will Play Millie Bobby Brown’s Mom in GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS

Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel, The Conjuring) is the latest addition to director Michael Dougherty's Godzilla: King of the Monsters. She is taking on the role of Millie Bobby Brown's mom and Kyle Chandler's wife.

I'm loving this cast that Dougherty is putting together! Farmiga is a such a wonderfully talented actress, and she's going to fit right in with Chandler (Friday Night Lights) and Brown (Stranger Things). Seems like a nice little family to take on Godzilla.

There are still no details on the story for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but I trust the creative team behind it. I've enjoyed all of Doughtery's films such as Trick 'r Treat and Krampus. They're incredibly fun movies, and I'm sure he'll bring that fun to his Godzilla sequel.

The only person from the first movie said to be returning is Ken WatanabeGodzilla: King of Monsters is set to be released on March 22, 2019 with Godzilla vs. Kong slated to hit theaters the following year on May 29, 2020.

David Ayer’s GOTHAM CITY SIRENS Could Possibly Include the Villain Black Mask

A few months ago we learned that Suicide Squad director David Ayer was taking on Gotham City Sirens with Margot Robbie returning to the role of Harley Quinn. We’ve known the film will also include the DC Femme Fatales Poison Ivy and Catwoman. Now it looks like we know who the villain might be.

From out of nowhere, Ayer posted a piece of comic art on Twitter featuring the character Black Mask. No text was included with the image, but it came from the comic Batman: Under the Red Hood

Ayer could just be in the midst of doing some research and found a cool image to post. Or maybe it’s a character he actually plans on using for Gotham City Sirens. It definitely seems like a character that fits Ayer’s style.

Black Mask is a ruthless Gotham mob boss and leader of the False Face Society known for his extreme hatred for Bruce Wayne. He also has a sadistic talent for torturing his victims into insanity. Torturing people is considered his defining skill, “as he both physically and mentally tortures them to a degree few could match.”

His fighting skills are also at the same level as characters such as Nightwing, Robin, Red Hood, Catwoman, and even Batman. Then there’s the fact that he’s a master of disguise.

I could totally see Ayer wanting to play with this villain in Gotham City Sirens. I hope he plans on using him because he would make an awesome addition to the whatever story he’s in the process of building.

Watch the Latest Boston Dynamics Robot Jump and Jive and Wail

Boston Dynamics, the Google-owned company that is in the business of creating some truly weird and awesome robots, has just released video of their newest weird robot, called Handle. Handle can lift 100 pounds, travel at 9 mph, and jump four feet in the air. Unlike many of the company’s robots, which walk on two or four feet (that’s bipedal or quadrupedal for all you smarties out there), Handle goes on wheels. And also jumps. It’s pretty cool. Like previous models from Boston Dynamics, Handle shows excellent balance and maneuverability, and can do some pretty cool spin moves, which is very important for a six-and-a-half foot robot.

Last we heard, Google was trying to sell Boston Dynamics, so if you are a secret billionaire, you might want to make a purchase. Check out Handle in action in the video below.

I'm also including the trailer for Young Ones kind of just for the hell of it because the pack mule robot in the film reminds me of Boston Dynamics' Spot, so I'm including a video of Spot getting the shit kicked out of him just for fun too. (Also because Young Ones isn't a great movie, but it's an interesting movie, and I don't think enough people know about it.)

Netflix has released a fascinating first teaser trailer for another great original film they've produced called Okja. The film comes from the director of the incredible film Snowpiercer, Bong Joon Ho, and it has an impressive cast that includes Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Giancarlo Esposito, Steven Yeun, Lily Collins, and newcomer Seo Hyun An

This grand global adventure follows a friendship too big to ignore. Meet Mija, a young girl who risks everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend – a massive animal named Okja. Following her across continents, the coming-of-age comedy drama sees Mija’s horizons expand in a way one never would want for one’s children, coming up against the harsh realities of genetically modified food experimentation, globalization, eco-terrorism, and humanity’s obsession with image, brand and self-promotion.

This promo is just a brief tease of the story that the film will tell. The only two main actors it features are Swinton and Hyun An. We also get a close-up glimpse of the massive animal Okja. There's still a lot we don't know about the story, but this teaser certainly sets up the mystery and intrigue of it. I definitely want to see more!

Netflix has got some great looking films coming out! Okja will premiere exclusively on Netflix on June 28.

Adam Savage Visits Weta to Show Us Some Cool GHOST IN THE SHELL Geisha Props and Animatronic Puppets

Adam Savage was invited to Weta Workshop to check out some of the awesome work that they did for the upcoming adaptation of Ghost in the Shell. While there he talked to Weta's Richard Taylor, who showed off what they came up with for the creepy robotic geisha that we've seen in the trailers. What's so cool about these is that they are all practical effects and props with mechanical geisha masks and animatronic puppets! It also shows how Weta Workshop used new fabrication and design technologies to make these props possible.

I love seeing this kind of stuff! Weta has done some incredibly cool work here, and I think you're gonna like what they have to show off. After seeing the stuff in this video I want to see even more of the creative work they did for the film!

MOONLIGHT Star in Talks to Join Denzel Washington in Dan Gilroy's INNER CITY

$

If you haven't seen Barry Jenkins' Best Picture-winning film Moonlight, you should absolutely check it out — not only because it's a gorgeous movie that advocates empathy in a time during which we must be empathetic as a society, but because it's already proving to be a launchpad for young talent. The Tracking Board reports that Ashton Sanders, who plays the teenaged version of Moonlight's lead character Chiron, is now in early talks to join Denzel Washington in a new movie called Inner City.

Inner City is the brainchild of Dan Gilroy, the guy who brought us the wonderful, underseen 2014 movie Nightcrawler (another film you should absolutely seek out if you haven't yet). This one is a legal thriller that centers around Washington's character, "a lawyer who discovers that his firm hasn’t always acted in accordance with his personal values, leading to an existential crisis that forces him to take extreme action." If Sanders' deal goes through, he'll play "an impressionable recent law school graduate who helps Washington with pro bono cases." Colin Farrell is already on board as well, so this is shaping up to have an excellent cast.

Nightcrawler was Gilroy's directorial debut, and he's writing and directing Inner City as well. He definitely hasn't steered me wrong yet, so I'm very excited about the potential of this movie and look forward to seeing it as soon as humanly possible.

J.J. Abrams Thinks Mark Hamill Should Win an Oscar for His Work in THE LAST JEDI

Director J.J. Abrams thinks very highly of Mark Hamill's performance as Luke Skywalker in Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He thinks his performance is so good that he should win an Oscar.

While talking to NY Daily News at the Oscar Wilde Awards in L.A., the filmmaker said:

"I think we are all going to be very upset if he does not win an Oscar, and no one more upset than Mark."

We have yet to see Hamill fully back in the role of Skywalker, but this statement definitely has me excited to see what Hamill's performance will be like. Could you imagine if Hamill did win an Oscar? That would be incredibly cool!

Having not seen the film, I have no idea if that really is a possibility, but I do trust Abrams' opinion on these kinds of things. He seems to have any eye for it. Of course, there's always the chance he might be joking around, but I don't think he'd joke around with a statement like that.

Abrams' comments also seem to indicate that Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be Luke's movie, much in the same way that Star Wars: The Force Awakens was Han Solo's movie. I just hope he doesn't die at the end!

What do you think about Abrams' comments about Hamill winning an Oscar?

Mel Gibson Talks About His Meeting for SUICIDE SQUAD 2

Now that we know that Mel Gibson is in talks to direct Suicide Squad 2, the actor/director is speaking publicly about what exactly went down in his meeting with Warner Bros. Cinemablend reports that while it's all just "talk," right now, Gibson's words might be reason for fans to be excited...

"I don't know. I just met some guys about story points. It's not a done deal or anything but it's just fun to shoot the bull you know? When it comes to a story. I love doing it. And if we can elevate any kind of concept, it's good."

Sounds like things are in a very preliminary stage, but Mel Gibson sounds like he's down if something does arise out of these talks! After watching what he did with Hacksaw Ridge, I would love to see a Suicide Squad movie with the same direction. Anyone think Mel is a bad choice for the job?

ALIEN: COVENANT Poster Encourages You to Hide, and a New Trailer Drops Tomorrow

alien-covenant-poster-encourages-you-to-hide-and-a-new-trailer-drops-tomorrow2

In anticipation of a new trailer being released tomorrow for Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant, Fox has released a new poster. The poster features an Ovomorph, which is the egg that contains a surprise Facehugger that will likely mark the beginning of the end fro the crew of the Covenant ship. The poster also encourages anyone who comes across these Ovomorphs to run and hide.

I imagine the new trailer is going to be loaded with some great and insane new footage that reveals more story details. I loved the first trailer, and that alone got me excited to see this movie, but if they want to release more footage then I'll be happy to watch it!

Set as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant connects directly to Ridley Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. There, the crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

The movie stars Michael Fassbender, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight), Jussie Smolett (Empire), Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color), Carmen Ejogo (Selma), Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills), Billy Crudup (Watchmen), and James Franco.

Alien: Covenant is set to open in theaters on May 19, 2017.

The theater scene in Japan has been popping lately! First we reported on a Naruto musical that will be traveling the glorious nation of Nippon, and now we have your first look at a play based on Attack On Titan! Take a look and continue on below:

Sadly, no look at how they're going to recreate the giant titans the series is known for. For me, that's the part I want to see the most! This production is absolutely insane with over 150 actors cast in the play and a high budget. Needless to say, it'll be a trip to watch. It's a shame we likely won't see it here in the United States!

With Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming on the horizon, we are going to start seeing more and more cool stuff from the film. Today we've got a fun and unique Chinese poster to share with you that looks like a piece of fan art. It comes from the Chinese Instagram account (via CBM) for the film and it shows Peter Parker running towards a school bus with his Spider-Man costume hanging out of his backpack. It's definitely different from anything else we've seen from the film, which is why I kinda dig it.

Jon Watts is directing the film, and it has a strong cast that also includes Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr.
