New Rumors About Finn's Role in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

Some possible new details have surfaced about John Boyega's character, Finn, in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The guy went through quite an ordeal in The Force Awakens, but he'll be back in action and on a mission to help take down the First Order.

The following intel comes from Making Star Wars, who has been pretty reliable when it comes to Star Wars movie news. They have some well-placed sources. If you don't want to know what Finn will be up to in one major part of the story, then I suggest you stop reading now.

That being said, consider this a rumor until anything is released that confirms it.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will apparently feature a First Order Super Star Destroyer that's bigger that any of the other Star Destroyers we've seen in the Star Wars Universe. It's described as being "huge" and a "triangle-shaped wedge."

"This is just a gigantic huge wedge, solid, and dark. I speculate this is the main command ship of the First Order in The Last Jedi."

According to the report, Finn will end up on this ship as part of his mission, and he's got a very big adventure ahead of him. While on the ship Finn will be undercover wearing a First Order officer's uniform, and at one point he will run into a stormtrooper he used to know. This Stormtrooper is reportedly played by Tom Hardy.

The gist is that a stormtrooper that used to know Finn slaps his ass; knowing him back when he was FN-2187, the trooper clearly doesn’t know what actually happened on Starkiller Base.

The trooper is said to be congratulating Finn on his promotion within the First Order. So what exactly is Finn doing undercover on this Star Destroyer? Well, he and Kelly Marie Tran’s character are there to plant explosives on it so that they can blow it up. Sounds to me like Finn is on a suicide mission. But it's Finn, I'm sure he'll be just fine.

They also saw some concept art from the film and explain that the ship is orbiting around the main world of the First Order:

Concept art depicted the ship above a red world, which makes us think that could potentially be the main world of the First Order post-Starkiller Base. Snoke is supposed to travel around via a mobile command base so it is hard to say if he’s actually there. After the First Order’s defeat at the Starkiller Base and with more training for Kylo Ren on the horizon, perhaps he changed his security protocols?

Again, we probably won't know if any of this is true until we start seeing some actual footage from the film. Until then, this is only a rumor that is meant to spark discussion among fans because that's what we love to do!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes from writer and director Rian Johnson. It's currently in post-production and will be released on December 15, 2017.

Listen to Comedian Brad Neely Narrate HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS

If you've seen Brad Neely's Harg Nallin Sclopio Peepio on Adult Swim, you know this is about to be bizarre. Let me just state right now that his comedy is about as fringe as fringe gets. You'll see what I mean with this narration of Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets. The point of this is to watch the film on mute while listening to Neely commentate on the film as if he were narrating an audiobook. It's weird, but it's also kind of hilarious. There's a Major Post-Credits Scene at the End of KONG: SKULL ISLAND! Plus There's a New TV Spot

Post-credits scenes are a big thing in movies these days and are pretty much expected with all comic book movies. Now it looks like King Kong fans have something big to look forward to with Kong: Skull Island. According to Kellvin Chavez of Splash Report, there's going to be an awesome post-credits scene. He's already seen the film at a preview screening, and this is what he said:

There's no information on what the post-credits scene entails, but I can only imagine that it has something to do with Godzilla and the Monsterverse that Legendary Pictures is opening up here. Remember, in a few years we'll be seeing these two characters fight!

So, after the movie, make sure to stay in your seats and see this Kong: Skull Island post-credits scene! I also included a new TV spot below with some new footage.

The year is 1973. Somewhere in our world, it is said that there exists a wondrous island unspoiled by man – a land shrouded in mystery, where myth runs wild. Uncharted and undiscovered.
When the secretive organization known as Monarch identify this destination as the origin point for mysterious new superspecies, they mount an expedition to discover its secrets.
What they find on Skull Island is an adventure beyond any human experience. An exotic paradise of wonders and terrors, where flora and fauna have fused together into an Eden of otherworldly jungle creatures.
As one group fights to escape and the other declares war on Kong, we discover that the mighty primate is at the center of a battle for dominion over the island, locked into a ‘survival of the fittest’ face-off with the terrifying apex predators responsible for wiping out his kin.
Driven by vengeance, Kong will become nature’s fury, and fight to take his rightful place upon the throne of most powerful beast on the island, revealing the story of how Kong became King.

The movie will be released in theaters on March 10th!

What Drove Han Solo and Leia Apart Before STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

It was great to see Han Solo return in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but it sucked to learn that he and Leia didn't quite work out. Then it got even worse when his own son Ben killed him!

Thanks to a new excerpt from the upcoming Star Wars book Aftermath: Empire’s End, we now have some insight into why Han and Leia ended up separating. The book already gave us some info on what happened to Lando Calrissian after the events of Return of the Jedi, now we have these new details thanks to StarWars.com.

While she is pregnant with Ben, Han is going out and buying a lot of fruit, and buying fruit really isn't his style. The excerpt explains how Leia sees that Han is board with life and needs to do something. In the scene, Leia is at home with her protocol droid, T-2LC. Han Solo shows up with a bag of jogan fruit because Leia is told by a doctor that she should eat more of it while she’s pregnant. Here's the main part of what was shared:

“Dr. Kalonia said to incorporate jogan into my diet, not to replace everything with jogan fruit.”

He sweeps up on her, cradling her face with his rough hand. He strokes her cheek gently. “All right, all right. I’m just trying to do right by you two.”

“I know, Han.”

“If I think I can help, I’ll always help. With whatever you or our son needs. You know that, right?”

She laughs. “I know.”

It’s been hard for Han. He won’t say it out loud, but she can see it on his face. Her husband needs something to do. He’s bored. Chewbacca’s back home, looking for his family. Luke’s searching the galaxy for old Jedi teachings. Han Solo’s got nothing to smuggle, nowhere to gamble, no foolish Rebellion to fight for.

He’s like the Falcon: retired to a hangar somewhere, waiting for something, anything, to happen.

So he buys fruit. Lots and lots of fruit.

And, of course, he worries about her. He turns her toward the table and the star map. “You’re not still on this, are you?”

This is just one of those things that we know leads to the separation. This seed of Han being bored with life is just going to grow into a form of resentment that will eventually tear them apart after Ben turns to the Dark Side.

It's hard to imagine Han as a regular guy doing regular things like buying fruit. I'm surprised Han wasn't out doing more helping out with the resistance. Why couldn't General Leia give him some cool stuff to do to keep him busy a keep him from getting bored?

In the end, we all know what happens between the two. Luckily they weren't bitter towards each other. You could tell that even though they weren't together anymore, they still loved each other. That's the most important thing.

Maybe we'll learn more about what caused them to drift apart in the book when it's released next week on February 21st.

THE RAID Remake Moves Forward with Director Joe Carnahan and Frank Grillo

A remake of The Raid, which is one of the most badass action film franchises ever, has been in and out of development since 2014. I haven't heard anything regarding the film since it lost its director, star, and studio. I just assumed that meant the project was dead, but that's not the case at all.

It's been announced that Joe Carnahan (Smokin' Aces, The A-Team, The Grey) will be directing the film and that Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) is still on board to star in the film. The news came in a series of tweets below. The first comes from XYZ Films, which included a video of Carnahan and Grillo watching The Raid while making light and casual commentary.

Carnahan is a fun director who has made some very crazy and wild films, but the original Raid movies are near perfect action films, and there's no way he'll be able to live up to the standard that those films set in terms of action and fight sequences. Carnahan attempts to ease the minds of fans by explaining what he plans on doing with the film.

In the tweets below he explains that the tone of the film will be closer to films such as The Grey and Narc. He then says that the film is not a remake, but a "reimagining of the same scenario," which sounds like a remake to me.

He tells everyone to take a deep breath and that he won't disappoint us. Here are those tweets:

The thing is, if the movie isn't as good as The Raid and doesn't hit those high standards of action, it will be a disappointment to the rabid fanboys from hell. Hey, I hope he ends up giving us a badass movie! It's just going to be really hard to top what's already been done.

Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3) was originally supposed to direct the remake, and there's no work on if the story he planned on making will be the same one Carnahan is making. That story was previously described as follows:

"Certainly, we're not there to recreate that film beat for beat, with the set up we're following a DEA task team, which was implemented by the Bush administration after September 11th when they realized that terrorism and the drug trade were so closely aligned. So they set up a DEA task team that's six units and they work across borders and sort of act like Navy SEALS. You never read about it, you never hear about it, but they go on these missions. So that's a really interesting take and a really nice premise and also what's interesting on this take on it is the clash of cultures and the clash of martial arts, the fighting styles, which is something that's going to be a lot of fun when we've really started pre-vizzing stuff."

Carnahan is definitely a better choice to direct the film than Hughes, but do you think Carnahan has what it takes to make the fans of the original films happy with his reimagining?

Disney's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: MISSION BREAKOUT! Ride Will Open in May

I'm still bummed out that the Twilight Zone's Tower of Terror is gone at Disney's California Adventure. I love that ride, and it was one of those rides that could have been timeless. As much as I love the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, I wish the Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! ride weren't replacing Tower of Terror

Disney Parks has announced the new ride will officially open at Disney California Adventure on May 27th, which is only a few weeks after the release of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The date will also mark the beginning of the "Summer of Heroes" themed celebration which will run from May 27 through September 10. It will launch the following year-round experiences:

  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off! – Don’t be surprised if you run into the Guardians of the Galaxy on their way to the Milano, with Star-Lord firing up his old-school boom box to get the party started. Gamora may prefer to stand back and observe, but everyone else is bound to get in the groove and show off their moves during this awesome rock ‘n’ roll bash!
  • Super Hero Encounters – For the first time, citizens of Earth will come face-to-face with Groot, one of the Guardians of the Galaxy! You can also step up to meet the First Avenger, Captain America, along with everyone’s favorite web slinger, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
And for a limited time, these new adventures will be available during Summer of Heroes:
  • Avengers Training Initiative – Black Widow and Hawkeye assemble young recruits for a series of tests to see if they have what it takes to join the ranks of the Avengers.
  • Heroic Encounter: Black Widow – Black Widow will arrive on the scene several times throughout the day in an armored Avengers vehicle for her heroic encounter with park guests.
  • Grab a Piece (or Bite) of the Action – All that heroism making you hungry? Want a token as proof of your adventures when you get home? Special themed merchandise and food will be available throughout Hollywood Land.

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! will feature characters from the film franchise in an epic new adventure. The ride will feature free-falls as guests embark on randomized ride adventures that include new visual and audio effects. You never know what kind of experience you're going to get. It sounds like the ride will be cool. But will it be as cool as Tower of Terror? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

SUICIDE SQUAD 2 Could End Up Being Directed by Mel Gibson

suicide-squad-2-could-end-up-being-directed-by-mel-gobson

Warner Bros. is looking to hire Mel Gibson to direct Suicide Squad 2, and he's considering it! That's right, the man who brought us Braveheart and Hacksaw Ridge could end up developing the sequel to Suicide Squad, and it would be awesome if that's how this all plays out.

The studio has yet to officially offer him the gig, but I think Gibson would do some crazy spectacular things with Suicide Squad. One thing that Gibson has always done well is tell a great story. The guy has never half-assed any of the films he's directed, and if he did Suicide Squad 2, he would give us a movie masterpiece.

According to THR, "Gibson is familiarizing himself with the material. But the studio is not being passive and it also looking at other directors, Daniel Espinosa among them." Espinosa has brought us film such as Safe House, Child 44, and the upcoming sci-fi thriller Life. Personally, I'd like to see Gibson jump on board.

David Ayer directed the first film, and he's currently working on the Gotham City Sirens spinoff movie that will focus on Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman. He's obviously got his hands full, and Warner Bros. is looking for someone to start developing Suicide Squad 2 sometime in the near future.

Suicide Squad wasn't the best film in the world, but it was a blast to watch! With a talented director and storyteller like Gibson on board, the sequel could be an all-around great film. I'd be curious to see how he would move the story forward with these insane villainous characters.

What do you think about the possibility of Gibson directing Suicide Squad 2?

Unsettling Clip From LOGAN Shows X-23 Being Operated On and Held Captive

An eerie new clip from Logan has been released featuring young Laura, a.k.a. X-23, being held captive in the lab that created her. It shows X-23 being operated on, and we see her in her cell testing out her abilities by slicing herself. It's actually a pretty unsettling video that makes you feel bad for the character. It's a brief clip, but it's effective in what it's trying to do. It looks like she went through hell in this place. It's good to know that she gets out, finds Wolverine, and gets revenge. We'll get to see X-23 and Wolverine in action when Logan hits theaters on March 3rd.

Watch: Honest Trailer for Christopher Nolan's BATMAN BEGINS

I happen to think that The Dark Knight is the best of Chris Nolan's Batman trilogy, but a stirring case could definitely be made that 2005's Batman Begins is the best of the bunch. (Such a case could never be made for The Dark Knight Rises...sorry, TDKR lovers.) Begins was the first out of the gate for modern culture's "dark and gritty reboot" trend (arguably pulling it off better than any other movie since, except for maybe Casino Royale), and it was also saddled with shaking off the baggage of the past few Day-Glo Batman movies from the Joel Schumacher era.

ScreenJunkies pays homage to the first of Nolan's Bat-films in their latest Honest Trailer, which you can check out below. Let us know what you think in the comments!

Trailer for Ethan Embry's THE DEVIL'S CANDY Looks Like a Hellishly Good Horror Film

I enjoy a good horror flick, and this one definitely looks like it'll be worth checking out! I've been hearing great things about it from people who have already seen it, so I was pretty excited to finally see a trailer. It looks like a great horror film that lives up to the hype. The movie premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, and it currently boasts a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film stars Ethan Embry (Can't Hardly Wait, Empire Records) as "a struggling artist and metalhead who moves with his wife (Shiri Appleby) and daughter (Kiara Glasco) to a new house with a grisly history in rural Texas. Things begin to unravel for the family with the appearance of Ray (Pruitt Taylor Vince), a previous occupant of the abode and all-around disturbed-seeming personage."

As you'll see in the trailer, the film has a heart-pounding intensity that I dig. The Devil’s Candy was written and directed by Sean Byrne (The Loved Ones), and it will be released in select theaters, on VOD, and other digital platforms on March 17th from IFC Midnight. I gotta see it!

The LOVE ACTUALLY Cast Is Reuniting for a Sequel (But It's Only 10 Minutes Long)

Richard Curtis' 2003 film Love Actually has become a flashpoint of division over the past few years. There are those who believe the movie is a lighthearted and fun romantic comedy, and those who think it's completely lacking in charm and features inexplicably offensive treatment of its female characters. (Take a guess which camp I'm in.)

Regardless of the film's quality — *cough* or lack thereof *cough* — its cast is extremely talented, including people like Liam Neeson, Keira Knightley, Hugh Grant, Bill Nighy, Andrew Lincoln, and the late, great Alan Rickman. Now Deadline reports that the cast (minus Rickman, naturally) is reuniting for a 10 minute short film to honor a charitable event called Red Nose Day for BBC One, and writer/director Curtis is back as the writer and director of this follow-up. He made a statement about the project:

"I would never have dreamt of writing a sequel to Love Actually, but I thought it might be fun to do 10 minutes to see what everyone is now up to. Who has aged best? I guess that’s the big question … or is it so obviously Liam? We’ve been delighted and grateful that so many of the cast are around and able to take part — and it’ll certainly be a nostalgic moment getting back together and re-creating their characters 14 years later. We hope to make something that’ll be fun — very much in the spirit of the original film and of Red Nose Day — and which we hope will help bring lots of viewers and cash to the Red Nose Day shows.”

The short will air on March 24 on BBC One in the UK and on March 25 on NBC in the United States. It'll be interesting to see how people react to this — I imagine fans will love being back in that world again (even for a short time), while haters will tune in just to see if the film's weird ideologies are still in place all these years later. Lincoln's character is a straight up psycho, y'all.

Andrew Garfield Stars in a Loony Action Film Trailer Written by Kids Called TEENAGE WAR

It looks like Amazing Spider-Man and Hacksaw Ridge star Andrew Garfield is set to star in his most ambitious film yet. It's called Teenage War, and it was written by a bunch of elementary school kids.

No. This is not a real movie! This is a fake trailer that was orchestrated by Stephen Colbert. Colbert brought in eight kids to create the movie of their dreams, and this is the trailer for what they came up with.

Garfield stars alongside Idina Menzel, and both play high school students named Bob. Yes, they are both named Bob. Together, they embark on a mission to avenge the death of Garfield's Bob’s father, who was murdered by a German spy who was living in Idaho. In their efforts, they also invent a robot monster pig to help them.

The trailer features guest stars John Oliver, Priyanka Chopra, and even John Malkovich as the villain! Check it out! It's a ridiculous trailer, but what would you expect from a bunch of little kids?

James Gunn Reveals the "Primary Story" of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

$

We are still a little over three months away from the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but the Doctor Strange Blu-ray/DVD special features include some information about the space odyssey straight from director James Gunn’s mouth. Specifically, Gunn reveals the primary story of the highly anticipated sequel. Is it Peter Quill’s burgeoning relationship with Ego the Living Planet? Is it Peter Quill’s burgeoning relationship with Gamora? Is it Drax’s burgeoning relationship with Mantis? Is it Nebula’s burgeoning relationship with, um… not evil? Is it a coming of age story about a young sentient tree and his foul-mouthed mentor? Let’s ask Gunn…

“I think the primary story is really about learning that thing that we think we want, that we’re going to get outside of ourselves and outside of these relationships that we have, has been there all along.”

You guys, that is so cheesy. Luckily that cheesiness will be camouflaged by a lot of explosions and fights and semi-crude jokes and baby Groot. But just know that while you are reveling in the graphic violence and strong language, you are also learning that it was inside you all along.

Here’s the synopsis with a slightly more plot-driven description of the story:

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be in theaters May 5th. You can check out all of the news about the film by clicking here.

This morning it was announced that Star Wars Force Friday II will take place on September 1st. This is the day that all of the toys, action figures, and other merchandise from Star Wars: The Last Jedi will go on sale.

The announcement came along with some product packaging that offers us our very first look at Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron from Star Wars: The Last Jedi! There's not much of a difference in the looks of Finn and Poe, but Rey is sporting a new hair style.

When talking about the Force Friday launch event, Jimmy Pitaro, chairman, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media, said:

"The first Star Wars Force Friday event was truly unique, uniting fans across five continents in an unprecedented global live unboxing event ahead of thousands of midnight openings at retail. We’re excited to confirm that Star Wars Force Friday is back for The Last Jedi. Plans for this year’s worldwide event are top secret, but expect something befitting the excitement around the next episode of the Star Wars saga."

I've collected a lot of Star Wars toys since the first Force Friday event, and I can't wait to see the action figures, vehicles, and other toys are going to be released for The Last Jedi

I also included a behind-the-scenes photo from The Last Jedi posted by director Rian Johnson. It features a lineup of First Order Stormtroopers.

We've seen supercuts from the Harry Potter saga before, but never to this degree. In keeping with the booming subculture surrounding "technical memes" (as explained in this Bee Movie video we wrote about not too long ago), here's a supercut of all the Harry Potter movies, but the only parts we see are when people say the words "Harry" or "Potter" — or, obviously, the two of them back to back. Monsters exist. That's the tagline for this new clip from Kong: Skull Island. While it's not an entirely surprising revelation to us, the clip does show who is in the know and who isn't in this exchange between Samuel L. Jackson and John Goodman. Stars Show Up in Netflix Trailer for Adam Sandler Comedy SANDY WEXLER

The Adam Sandler Netflix saga continues with the third entry in the series, Sandy Wexler. Like the previous two, it looks "meh," but there are a lot more stars in this one! Here's the incredibly brief description of Sandy Wexler:

In the 90's one man ruled Hollywood with an iron fist. Sandy Wexler was not that man.

As mentioned earlier, you'll see a lot of stars in this trailer. Conan O' Brien, Chris Rock, Judd Apatow, Dana Carvey, David Spade...and they're all playing themselves. This film looks like it has some potential to be alright, but I'm not expecting anything laugh out loud funny. Let's hope I'm wrong! Sandy Wexler premieres April 14th on Netflix.
