Ryan Murphy Teases AMERICAN HORROR STORY Will Tackle the 2016 Election Next Season

American Horror Story will be taking on the 2016 Presidential Election. THR reports that creator Ryan Murphy revealed that next season of the series would begin shooting in June, but wouldn't say much more than that. When asked as to whether or not there would be a character based on current President Trump, Murphy responded "maybe."

I'm going to be honest, I did not expect this series to get political, and if I'm being more honest, I don't know why it should. We've hit another point in our nation where politics dominate daily discussions, and while it's good that people are staying informed, it doesn't have to be everywhere. Also, if you're going to get political, why not cover something more current, as by the time this airs it will be nearly a year and a half after the Presidential election. That's just my two cents.

All that said I am curious as to the take the show would have on such an election, so I'll probably watch it. Will you?

Crazy Horrific Teaser Trailer for THE VOID Is Full of Blood and Gore

crazy-horrific-teaser-trailer-for-the-void-is-full-of-blood-and-gore1

Want to see some wonderfully grotesque and gory horror? I've got a crazy teaser trailer here for an upcoming film called The Void, which is an '80s throwback horror film. The story centers around a group who are fighting to survive in a hospital where people are turning into insane-looking monsters from hell.

Some critics who have seen the film are praising it and are comparing it to the classic horror of John Carpenter and Clive Barker. The Void looks like it could be a lot of fun to watch, and it seems like there are a lot cool practical blood and gore effects used to make the movie!

Encountering a blood-soaked man on a dark deserted road, a police officer rushes the victim to the local hospital. Soon the staff and patients are trapped by a terrifying, otherworldly threat and forced on a hellish voyage into the depths of the building to escape the nightmare. Shocking, haunting and boasting mind-blowing practical special effects, The Void is a new must-see horror event, starring Ellen Wong (Scott Pilgrim vs the World), Kathleen Munroe (Alphas), Aaron Poole (Forsaken) and Kenneth Welsh (The Aviator) and Daniel Fathers. Written and directed by Jeremy Gillespie and Steven Kostanski and from the Executive Producer of The Witch.

The Void is set to hit theaters on April 7th.

Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart on Saying Goodbye to Wolverine in LOGAN

It's still crazy to think that Logan will be the last time that we see Hugh Jackman take on the role of Wolverine. He made the character iconic, and it's going to be the end of an era. The guy has been playing Wolverine for 17 freakin' years! That's a long time to be playing a character, and Jackman is ready to say goodbye, but not before he gives his best performance yet.

Everything I've seen from this film so far shows me that Jackman didn't hold anything back for this role. He made sure to end his run as Wolverine in the strongest way possible. During a recent interview on Entertainment Tonight, he made it very clear that he put everything he had into the role to give his best performance possible.

"There is not a frame of this film where I can't say I didn't put everything into it. I couldn't have made this film if I didn't make the decision within myself that this was the last one. I just didn't compromise on anything. I was a pain to a lot of people, because I don't get another shot at this. This is a character I love. I owe my career to this character."

Patrick Stewart shares the film with Jackman as he reprises his role of Charles Xavier, and he goes on to reflect on the evolution of the actor's role as Wolverine over the years and praised his performance:

"His charm and modesty and likability has never changed. What has changed is the actor. His work throughout the franchise is compelling and powerful and witty and very entertaining, and I believe what he does in Logan is quite extraordinary. The aging, the sadness, the weariness, the borderline despair he exhibits coupled with that edge that has always been there is quite remarkable."

It would be so cool to see Jackman get an Oscar nomination for his performance in Logan. I think it could actually happen! Seriously, it looks like he gives an amazing performance in this movie! Logan is set to hit theaters on March 3, 2017.

Mel Gibson Confirms He's Considering SUICIDE SQUAD 2; Two Other Directors Are in the Running

Yesterday it was reported that Warner Bros. is looking at Braveheart director Mel Gibson as a potential director for Suicide Squad 2. I'd be totally interested in seeing what Gibson would do with the sequel if he decides he wants to direct it.

Shortly after the news broke, Gibson confirmed that he was in early talks with the studio. During a Q&A session at a screening of his Oscar-nominated film Hacksaw Ridge at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, Gibson was asked if it was getting close to a deal and the filmmaker replied:

"It’s kind of a first date."

So he's definitely considering it! I will say this, if Gibson has another personal project that he'd like to do I'd rather him do that than Suicide Squad. I'd rather see him make the Viking movie he was working on years ago than make a Suicide Squad sequel. But, if he ends up taking the gig, I'll be excited to see what he does with it.

Gibson isn't the only director that WB is looking at, though. We already know that Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) is in the running, but according to Variety, we can add Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies) to the list. Both of these directors have their strengths and would probably do a fine job with a Suicide Squad sequel, but Gibson is definitely the best filmmaker of the bunch.

Are there any other directors you'd like to see take on Suicide Squad 2?

We've got a funny first trailer here for you to watch for Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler's new comedy, The House. The story centers on a married couple named Scott and Kate who open up an illegal underground casino in their basement to help raise money to send their daughter to college.

I enjoy Ferrell and Poehler's style of comedy, and this film looks like it compliments their comedy style perfectly. From what I'm seeing in the trailer the movie is going to provide some solid laughs.

Ferrell is also producing the film alongside Adam McKay (The Big Short, Anchorman), and it also has a fun supporting cast that includes Jason Mantzoukas (The League, How to Be Single), Allison Tolman (Fargo, Krampus), Sam Richardson (Veep, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising), Nick Kroll (Vacation), Jeremy Renner (The Avengers), and Rob Huebel (Transparent, Baywatch).

The movie was written by Neighbors scribes Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien. Cohen also directed the film. The House opens in theaters on June 30, 2017.

Amblin Will Develop Female-Driven JOHN WICK-Style Action Film RUTHLESS

$

Amblin has picked up the rights to a spec script for a female-driven action film called Ruthless. San Andreas and Rampage director Brad Peyton has been hired to direct the project, which sounds like a John Wick-style action thriller, but with a kickass woman in the lead role.

The script comes from John Swetnam (Into the Storm, Step Up: All In), and this is a brief plot summary:

When a legendary retired assassin is diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, she must return to the life she left behind and complete one final job in order to secure a future for her young daughter. There are twists along the way.

I imagine that we can expect to see some crazy hardcore action. I don't think it will be to the level of John Wick because those films have great directors that know how to direct insane action. The action could be great, though, if Peyton brings on some talented fight choreographers who know what they're doing.

It'll be interesting to see who they end up casting in the lead role. The film is being produced by the same team that developed The Shallows, so maybe Blake Lively is an option. I could see her in an action-packed role like this. Or there's always Adrianne Palicki, who is in the photo I used above from the first John Wick movie. She's not in this film, but I needed a photo of a badass looking woman, and it was perfect.

Marvel Is Reportedly Planning a SUB-MARINER Film or TV Project

Last year Marvel CCO Joe Queseda made it clear that Marvel Studios owned the rights to Namor the Sub-Mariner. When asked if there were plans for a Sub-Mariner film project, Queseda said that he could neither confirm or deny. Beyond that and fan speculation, there has been no real indication that Marvel Studios was doing anything with the property until today.

Reel News Hawaii, who previously revealed that Marvel's The Inhumans series was shooting in Hawaii, tweeted information saying that there are two rival productions that could be shooing in Hawaii as well. Those projects are Aquaman and Sub-Mariner. Here's the the tweet:

There's no other information beyond that. But if Marvel is actually scouting locations in Hawaii for a Sub-Mariner film or TV project, that would be awesome! I have no idea if there is any truth to this, but the source was right about The Inhumans, so we'll just have to wait and see what someone from Marvel has to say when they're eventually asked about it. I imagine the response will be the same as Queseda's as not being able to confirm or deny.

With Aquaman coming out it would be cool to see a Sub-Mariner film. I'd like to see who would take these water superhero characters and do it better. If a Sub-Mariner project is happening, though, I'd bet on it. being a TV series.

Patrick Stewart Is Down for More X-MEN Films

At 76, Patrick Stewart has nothing left to prove. He's already secured status as a science fiction icon and apparently drank from the fountain of youth because he does not look his age! Yet Comicbook reports the actor still wants to play Charles Xavier in X-Men films if they'll have him. His exact words were the following:

“Hugh has raised the flag that says goodbye. I haven’t done that yet."

If Stewart still wants to be in the films, I say let him! While James McAvoy has proven to be a worthy Charles Xavier, I wouldn't mind seeing the man who originally owned the role play it a few more times! I mean, who better than the man who literally looks like the comic book character? You're cool with Stewart hanging on for more Marvel movies, right?

Review: Something's in the Water in A CURE FOR WELLNESS and It's Not Good

$

0

Gore Verbinski's latest foray into the horror genre is A Cure for Wellness, starring Dane DeHaan, Jason Isaacs, and Mia Goth. I went into this film completely blind. The only thing I had seen was the poster, which simply features a blue bottle with a small woman floating inside. Pretty weird, but not half as weird as this movie.

DeHaan stars as a stereotypical hard-working executive known only as Lockhart. Things at his firm aren't going so well, so he is sent to retrieve the company's CEO from some sort of wellness spa in the Swiss Alps so he can sign some documents. Or something like that. I really don't know, business lingo kind of bores me. But luckily, all of that is over in the first five minutes and we are immediately swept off to the scenic Alps. The cinematography really is spectacular.

On the way to the wellness spa, which used to be a castle, Lockhart's driver tells him of the spa's sordid past, involving a baron, his sister, and angry village people. Apparently, the castle is built on some aquifer which is why the spa is so special, and why its past is so troubled. When Lockhart arrives at the spa, he speaks with a glassy-eyed nurse who can't seem to give him a straight answer as to where his missing CEO is. And thus begins the nightmare.

I tried really hard to like this movie, I really did. I enjoy a good psychological thriller. But this was a mess. When the plot wasn't using every cliche in the book, it was throwing out all kinds of scare tactics in a jumbled mess. I'm talking a creepy hospital, brainwashing, drowning and other water-related horrors, incest, emaciated elderly folks, sinister dental work, and supernatural eels. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, eels. There are eels coming out of the toilets, literally. And that's just the beginning.

The idea of a creepy spa in an ancient castle built on an aquifer sounds really cool, right? But this movie missed the mark completely. It tried to do too much and all the cool elements got watered down, no pun intended. And frankly, without all the bizarre scare tactics, the plot was a little predictable. I kept waiting for some sort of twist, but it never came. The writers revealed their cards way too early in the film, and while there were a few surprises, it was really easy to call what was going to happen. Extreme horror fans might really enjoy this film, but I wasn’t drinking the kool-aid. Or in this case, water.

Sam Raimi in Talks to Direct a BERMUDA TRIANGLE Movie

It looks like Sam Raimi might finally have a new film project to direct! I'm a huge fan of the Evil Dead and Spider-Man director, but he hasn't directed a film since Oz: The Great and Powerful, which was released in 2013.

I know he's been busy helping develop the Evil Dead TV series, but it's about time he gets back into directing. I'm itching to see a new film from him. According to THR, he's currently in talks to take on a mystery thriller that centers around the legendary Bermuda Triangle.

This is one of three Bermuda Triangle film projects in development, and it's set up at Skydance Productions. The other two are in development at Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. There are no story details for any of these projects, and there are so many different stories to tell.

One thing we know for sure in that it will revolve around the infamous area of the Atlantic where hundreds of ships and planes have mysteriously gone missing. I've been fascinated with the Bermuda Triangle since I was a kid. I've read so many books and have watched some many documentaries on it over the years. Now we're getting a handful of movies, and it's about damn time! There's never really been a great Bermuda Triangle film, but I did enjoy The X-Files episode that revolved around it!

The studio has been developing this film for five years and the most recent version of the script was written by Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard, the co-writers on films such as The Sorcerer's Apprentice and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. That doesn't spark too much confidence, but if Raimi thinks the script is good and takes the project, I believe there's a chance that maybe he could give us something awesome.

What do you think about Raimi possibly taking on a film project that revolves around the Bermuda Triangle?

New Trailer for Anne Hathaway's Awesome Kaiju Movie COLOSSAL

Colossal was one of the best movies that I saw at Sundance this year. It's an incredibly entertaining film that tells an awesomely fun and dramatic story of a giant Kaiju monster that suddenly appears in the city of Seoul, South Korea, and  starts destroying it. The story also follows the messed up life of an American woman played by Anne Hathaway, who realizes that she has a mysterious connection with the beast. She basically is the creature.

We've got a great new trailer that features a lot of new footage, but at the same time, it leaves the film's biggest surprises a secret. There are a few things that happen in this film that you don't see coming at all, and it makes for some really cool story elements that I think audiences are going to flip over.

As I said in my review, Colossal is one of the most unique and fantastic giant monster movies that I've seen! This is a must watch film and you can check it out when it's released on June 30th.

James Cromwell Cast in JURASSIC WORLD Sequel

$

James Cromwell is a hell of a great actor whom I've enjoyed watching in the movies over the years. The guy has had a ton of roles in films and TV shows over the years that include Babe, Star Trek: First Contact, Spider-Man 3, LA Confidential, The Green Mile, ER, and Six Feet Under.

According to THR, the actor has recently joined the cast of director J.A. Bayona's Jurassic World sequel. He will be joining returning cast members Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard as well as newcomers Toby Jones and Get Down star Justice Smith.

There are still no details on the story, but we know it will involve blood-thirsty dinosaurs and people being put in terribly frightening, life-threatening situations. We also know that Howard won't be running around in high heels through the whole movie.

There's no information on who Cromwell will be playing, but anyone who has seen his work knows that he'll make a great addition to the film. Universal Pictures is keeping any and all information on this sequel buried at the moment. As the film gears up for production, I'm sure we'll get some new information soon.

Jurassic World 2 is set to be released on June 22, 2018.

Boyd Holbrook Discusses THE PREDATOR and Says Schwarzenegger Isn't Expected to Be in It

I'm pretty stoked about seeing what writer and director Shane Black is going to give fans with his upcoming film The Predator. We really don't know much about the story, but we do know for sure that the Predator will be on the hunt.

During a recent interview with We Got This Covered, The Predator star Boyd Holbrook (Gone GirlJane Got a GunNarcos) talked about the movie, revealing that the movie in not a sequel and that it will give us something completely new and different. Also, if you're expecting to see Arnold Schwarzenegger make an appearance, you might be disappointed. He says:

“I’m currently working on Predator. It’s not a sequel; Shane Black has made something totally new, somehow keeping within the realm of Predator [while also being] absolutely new in terms of the story that we’re talking about today, and rooted in something real. It’s real fresh. I don’t think you’re going to see [Arnold] Schwarzenegger. It would kind of make it a gimmick. It’s horror, science-fiction and a western.”

From what we know of the film so far, Holbrook will play a special forces commando named Quinn McKenna. He will lead an ensemble cast that includes Sterling K. Brown (Black Panther), Olivia MunnTrevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Thomas Jane, and Jacob Tremblay

The Predator is on track to be released on February 9th, 2018.

Helen Mirren Is Playing Exactly Who You Think She's Playing in THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS

$

0

Eight months ago, Helen Mirren was officially confirmed to be part of the cast of Fast 8 (which has since been titled The Fate of the Furious). At the time, I speculated that she could be playing the mother of the villainous brothers Owen and Deckard Shaw (Luke Evans and Jason Statham, respectively), but Mirren has been absent from the trailers thus far.

Yesterday, though, Luke Evans spilled the beans in an interview with Yahoo and confirmed that Mirren is indeed playing that character in the new movie. When asked if his character could come back in a future movie, he responded:

“People come around from comas, so who knows? He’s in a military hospital because he’s the most wanted man in the world, but he’s got a very powerful brother, and he’s now got a mum as well, who’s played by Helen Mirren.”

This is really cool news, but the only sad part is that Mirren — who's been gung-ho to do her own stunt driving for a while — won't actually be getting behind the wheel in the new movie. "I wanted to be driving, but unfortunately, I’m not," she said previously. "Maybe that will come in the future, in Fast and Furious 12." I'm hoping we don't have to wait that long. Fingers crossed she makes a quick appearance in The Fate of the Furious but has a much larger role in Fast 9 and gets to peel out in that one herself.

The Fate of the Furious blazes into theaters on April 14, 2017.

Kevin Smith Is Developing a Sam and Twitch SPAWN Spinoff Series for BBC America

$

It's no secret that Kevin Smith is a fan of comic books, and he's recently been enjoying his time at the CW directing episodes of The Flash and Supergirl. He also recently announced that he was going to make a new Jay and Silent Bob movie. Now he's got a new TV project in the works! We've learned that Smith is set to write, direct, and executive produce a series based on Todd MacFarlane's Spawn

The series will be a supernatural crime series based on the homicide detective characters from Spawn, Sam and Twitch. The series is being developed for BBC America. The announcement came from GM Sarah Barnett, who had this to say in a statement:

"They were originally introduced in Spawn, and it's Todd McFarlane's comic book series about these big-city homicide detectives who face a series of super grizzly [sic] crimes that are connected to the occult. It's kind of frightening and sort of gallows humor. It's, again, procedural, but in a very modern, contemporary way. So each episode is closed-ended, although there are certain character-serialized aspects to the storytelling."

I love Sam and Twitch, and I'm 100% on board with Smith developing the series! I think he'll have a lot of fun with it and give Spawn fans something awesome to enjoy while we wait for MacFarlane to finally get around to making his long-awaited Spawn movie that will probably never happen. At least we'll get this series centered around Sam Burke and Twitch Williams!

They were among the few human characters in the franchise who earned Spawn's trust. On top of the comics they appeared in in Image, they were also included in HBO's Spawn animated series and in the 1997 live-action film.

There's no information on when this series will be released. As of right now it's just in the development phase so it will probably be awhile.

It Blows My Mind That This Thor Cosplay Photo Passed as a THOR: RAGNAROK BTS Photo! It's Mass Hysteria!

it-blows-my-mind-that-this-thor-cosplay-photo-passed-as-a-thor-ragnarok-bts-photo33

A few days ago we posted the above photo of Thor fighting a Zombie, as did almost every other freakin' entertainment and geek website on the internet. The photo originated at this Twitter account, and a bunch of websites picked up on it and started running it as being a behind-the-scenes photo from Marvel's upcoming Thor: Ragnarok.

The thing is... this is not a BTS photo from Thor: Ragnarok! This is actually a photo of two cosplayers that was taken at a convention! When it was first brought to my attention I didn't believe it, but when I started doing some research I found that it is, in fact, a couple of cosplayers! Check out the actual photo here without the "green screen".

I just think it's amazing and funny how crazy of a place the internet can be! A bunch of websites throw a series of real BTS photos from Thor: Ragnarok and then add this one to the mix and no one is really going to notice it. People, like myself, just see a cool image of Thor fighting a zombie in front of a green screen and the brain just gets overexcited. It doesn't notice the obvious details in the photo, like Thor's cheap-ass wrist gauntlets!

No joke, I treated myself to a palm to the face and laughed. I'm surprised that no one else has noticed! I've visited a ton of sites that posted this image over the past couple of days and all of them believe that it's a legitimate photo, just like I did at first.

This seems like a perfect example of geek mass hysteria! We're just all so stupid excited about Thor: Ragnarok that now we can't tell the different between real Thor and cosplay Thor. I've gotta say, though, this cosplayer looks a hell of a lot like Chris Hemsworth! I'm surprised that director Taika Waititi hasn't called the internet out on this and made some funny jokes about it yet.

Just another day on the internet!
