It Looks Like Thor Will Be Wielding the Weapon Jarnbjorn in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Judging by a recent piece of concept art released in a teaser video for Avengers: Infinity War with Thor fighting alongside Rocket Raccoon, it doesn't look like Thor will be doing battle with his usual weapon, Mjolnir. It was recently brought to my attention that he's not wielding that weapon in the art. No, the weapon he's got in his hands is called Jarnbjorn, and it's a freakin' battle axe!

This is a weapon that Thor used in the comics when he was not worthy of Mjolnir. The battle axe was forged by the Dwarfs of Nidavellir, and it's indestructible thanks to an enchantment that was placed on it.

Jarnbjorn is naturally sharper than almost any earthly weapon and can cut virtually anything. It's also said that it can "be used to defend against any attack, even bursts of energy like Apocalypse's optic beam." Also, thanks to Thor's own enchantment with his own blood, Jarnbjorn can pierce the armor of Celestials.

There's no information on whether or not Thor has become unworthy of Mjolnir's love again, forcing him to use Jarnbjorn, but maybe he's just looking to switch things up in the weapons department. Maybe there's something about Jarnbjorn that works well fighting against Thanos. Remember, Thanos is an Eternal, who is "empowered by genetic modifications orchestrated by the Celestials."

We'll just have to wait and see how things play out with Thor in Thor: Ragnarok. After all, we did see a photo from the set of Ragnarok featuring Thor with a battle axe next to him. I imagine that this is the same weapon. I included that photo below.

The Duffer Bros. Reveal How Many Seasons They Want From STRANGER THINGS

Like many of you, I've been wondering how many seasons the Duffer Bros. have planned out for Stranger Things. Later this year we will embark on the journey Season 2 has to offer, but how many more seasons will follow after that?

While talking to EW, Ross and Matt Duffer talk about their plans and one thing that they want to make sure is that Stranger Things doesn't wear out it's welcome and that it finishes off strong. As of right now the plan is to go four or five seasons, but that's all subject to change depending on how the series evolves.

Ross says, “Everything changes as we move forward so we’ll see,” and Matt add, “I want it to have a really finite ending. I don’t want it to be one of those shows that runs out of gas and they lose it because they’re losing interest. You wanna end when you’re on top.”

These guys seem to know what they want out of the series and they seem to be playing it smart. They aren't really committed to how many seasons there will be yet, but they obviously hope that it at least runs four seasons. It's good to know that they aren't afraid to switch things up, though, if they feel they need to.

One thing they want to do with Season 2 like they did with Season 1 is make it feel like one long movie. Ross explains:

“Hopefully you’ll come to the end of season 2 and feel fully satisfied and want more but you’ll feel like it has come to a conclusion. But also we’ve laid the ground work for further seasons.”

I can't wait to see how this full series plays out and see how the full story arcs of these characters play out of Season 2 and the rest of the series. Stranger Things Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on  Halloween this year!

LOGAN Director James Mangold Wants to Make an X-23 Film and Says He'll Work With Hugh Jackman Again

Even though Logan is the last time that we'll see Hugh Jackman in the role of Wolverine, director James Mangold still has plans to work with him again. They seem to make for a great creative team, so I don't think fans would have any objections to seeing them make another movie together one day. While talking to We Got This Covered, Mangold said:

“I definitely know that Hugh and I will work together again.”

There's no word on when that will happen or what kind of film project that will be, but it seems like it's only a matter of time. Mangold went on to say that he'd definitely be down for making another comic book movie, and he's keen on working more with the character X-23, who makes her big screen debut in Logan. He said:

“I would love to see an X-23 film and that is something I would definitely be involved with.”

X-23 is certainly a badass character. I have no idea what Fox's plans are with the character beyond Logan, but it certainly looks like she's going to be a scene stealer in the movie. I'm sure that if Logan does well at the box office and fans express their excitement for X-23, then Fox will most likely move forward with something involving her.

There has been speculation about X-23 taking on the mantle of Wolverine in the upcoming X-Men films, but given the fact that Logan is not set in the same cinematic universe as the X-Men films, who knows how that would actually work.

Personally, from what I've seen of X-23, I'd love to see another movie that centers around her character! Until we get any additional updates on that, we still have the movie Logan to look forward to!

Rumor: John Williams Is Already Recording the STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Score

We already knew that legendary composer John Williams would be returning to a galaxy far, far away to provide the score for Rian Johnson's upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi. But if a new rumor proves true, it could give us a window into Johnson's approach for the film.

Filmmaker Robert Meyer Burnett (Free Enterprise) recently tweeted the following:

As /Film points out, the idea that Johnson wants to use a completed (or partially-completed) score runs contrary to the typical post-production process, in which an editor works with a director using temp tracks as music to craft the cut of the movie, and then the composer creates new music to fit that cut when it's ready.

It's not unheard of for directors to have composers do their work before editing begins in full, but it's rare — and if it's true, it could result in some fascinating tunes from Williams, who (as far as I know) has never scored a Star Wars movie in that fashion before. I know he's especially keen on crafting music for Daisy Ridley's Rey, but how will doing so without actually seeing the edit of her performance affect his musical choices? And how will having the music accessible affect Johnson's decision-making in the edit? It remains to be seen, but after being disappointed with the score for The Force Awakens, I'm hoping Williams comes roaring back with something truly spectacular for The Last Jedi.

Guy Makes Dangerous Bread Buttering Robot In Hilarious Video

As much as I'm a fan of build videos, I usually skip to the final product after a couple minutes. But when the video starts off with a guy almost lighting his face on fire eating burnt toast and making a high-velocity stabbing knife? Yeah, I'm gonna stick around to see what else happens! This guy is absolutely nuts in the best way possible, and while I wouldn't want to be his neighbor, I'll definitely be watching some more of his YouTube videos! Check out his video below.

Sam Worthington Promises AVATAR 2 Will "Be Like Nothing You've Ever Seen"

It's been a little more than seven years since James Cameron blew everyone's minds with Avatar back in 2009, and since then his sequels have been delayed more times than I can count as he and his writers have cranked out the screenplays and made sure technology has caught up to his ambitious plans. But despite the delays, we will eventually see Avatar 2, and when we do, star Sam Worthington thinks it'll be worth the wait.

Speaking with We Got This Covered, Worthington said:

“They’re going to be shooting concurrently. The plan is to have some time in between, I think, but these things are always ambiguous until they start. We’re still set to start in the summer, though. James needed time to perfect the scripts. Whenever he says jump I go because he’s the man. I’ve read all the scripts, they’re great. This is going to be Jake eight years later, and he’s got a family now.
This film is going to be like nothing you’ve ever seen. The world is bigger than the first one, but essentially, it’s a movie about family. Jake will still have that essence of a kid seeing the world for the first time, but he’s been living in the world for a while now, so what’s this world he’s seeing now for the first time? The film will explore that within this family dynamic.”

It sounds as if Jake Sully will be used to the area of Pandora that he's been living in, but considering that the new adventures will be shot using underwater motion capture technology, it sounds like the Sully family (which presumably includes Zoe Saldana's Neytiri) will be heading under the sea to discover a new side of the planet that Jake and the audience haven't seen before. It'll be interesting to see how Cameron balances the idea of Jake having been on that world for nearly a decade with that childlike sense of discovery that permeated the first movie.

Here's How a BATMAN V SUPERMAN Fight Would Really Go Down

We've covered a lot of artist Stephen Byrne's work over the years. His Firefly animated short is excellent, and I really enjoyed his Star Wars follow-up comic to The Force Awakens. Now he's back with his own spin on one of last year's most controversial blockbusters, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. I'm inclined to agree with Byrne that if the two characters ever faced off in a "real" battle, it would go almost exactly like this:

Ben Affleck Reportedly Doesn't Want to Be Batman Anymore

$

It was recently reported that Warner Bros. offered The Batman directing gig to Matt Reeves (Rise of the Planet of the Apes). He will take the place of Ben Affleck, who unsurprisingly dropped out as the director. Now, according to a recent report, Affleck wants out of the Batman franchise completely. According to John Campea of Collider Movie Talk, Affleck doesn't even want to play Batman anymore. During their recent show he said:

"Ben Affleck, make no mistake, he does want out. He doesn't want to be Batman anymore. I've been told, Ben Affleck is talking with Warner Bros. in an attempt to get out of being Batman. And if they do not let him out of being Batman, the standalone Batman film that ultimately happens will be the last time we see Ben Affleck as Batman."

This is just a big fat rumor at the moment. Campea says to take the news with a grain of salt and not to share it around. But if he didn't want anyone to share it around, then why in the hell would he say anything in the first place? Then he goes on to reveal it in a "matter of fact" kind of way. If he's not confident in his sources don't start the rumor. But he did start it and he should have known the internet was going to run with it and blow it up.

One of the most recent things we heard about The Batman is that the script is done and everyone, including Affleck, is happy with how it turned out. If that's the case, then this latest rumor is obviously nothing. Of course, there's always the chance that the three sources Campea heard it from could be right and the DCEU is in bigger trouble than we initially thought.

I'd hate to see Affleck step away as Batman because I think he plays the character awesomely, regardless of the weak script and character development he's had to work with. I personally don't think Affleck will be dropping out. I have a feeling we'll see him play Batman at least through the end of the second Justice League film.

At this point, who knows what's going to happen. We're just going to have to wait and see how this all shakes out. We'll keep you informed on any updates.

STRANGER THINGS Season 2 Upped Their Security Levels to GAME OF THRONES Standards

No one knew anything about Stranger Things before it premiered on Netflix and became an instant classic. Now everyone is a Stranger Things fan and we're all patiently wait for season two to drop later this year.

While making season one there were absolutely no security protocols set in place to keep anything a secret. Since no one really knew what was going on with the series at the time, no one is digging through the trash for information. That's all changed with season two, though.

Now everyone is trying to get information on what the Duffer Bros. are doing with the second season, and major security measures had to be implemented to keep story elements a secret. Since they had no previous experience of doing that with the first season, they had to reach out to someone with extensive knowledge, so they approached the producers of HBO's Game of Thrones. While talking to EW, executive producer Shawn Levy said:

"We literally consulted with the producers on Game of Thrones to learn security protocols. We had no security protocols last season and we have extensive security protocols this season. I can’t speak about what they are because then people could crack them. We protect every story point, every page of every script."

Co-creator Ross Duffer told them that he just used to throw sides away and "now they have to be burnt." Even the cast is shrouded in secrecy. Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, added:

“Now we have a code name [for the show]. And now I have a code name! It’s this weird thing. On the call sheets our names are across it and if we lose it, we’re dead."

From what everyone says, no one knew or expected Stranger Things to blow up the way it did. The creative team is now in a whole new world, and they have to take secretive measures that they never thought they'd had to take. Hopefully whatever system they have in place to keep major plot points hidden away works. I'd hate to see something major leak and ruin a big surprise.

Captain America's Hydra Suit Teased on the Cover of Marvel Comics' SECRET EMPIRE #0

I still don't like the fact that Captain America was revealed to really be a Hydra agent in the Marvel Comics universe. Captain America was always a favorite character of mine so I think this whole new direction with him is bullshit.

Anyway, the cover for Secret Empire #0 has been released and it teases the characters Hydra suit. The cover was created by Mark Brooks, and it features Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, standing in a demolished, fiery battle zone. As you can see, his costume is torn at the chest revealing the Hydra insignia with what looks like a new Hydra-style costume.

Secret Empire is the big event that Marvel Comics has been leading up to, and Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso said:

“Wherever you find favor within the Marvel Universe, Secret Empire is a story for you. When the world’s most respected and trusted super hero, Captain America, assumes ultimate power and goes bad, it serves as a rallying cry for all the heroes. Avengers, X-Men, Guardians, Inhumans and street-level heroes unite to fight for the fate – and soul – of the Marvel Universe.”

Secret Empire #0 was written by Nick Spencer with art by Daniel Acuna. It will be released in April. Secret Empire #1, which was written by Spencer with art by Steve McNiven, hits in May. You can check out the cover art for that one below.

SAMURAI JACK Featurette Shows New Footage and the Creator Discusses Jack's Final Journey in Season 5

The upcoming fifth season of Samurai Jack will also be its final season. That's hard for me to comprehend! As a longtime fan of Samurai Jack, I've been waiting for the character's return. Now he's finally coming back and the story will show us Jack's final journey. If you saw the most recent trailer, you know that Jack will be fighting his way out of a hellish situation.

We have some new footage for you to check out as well in a new featurette that was released. That video also includes creator Genndy Tartakovsky talking about bringing back Jack for his last adventure and the use of cinematic sound and music to bring that story to life.

Also, during a recent interview with Empire, creator Genndy Tartakovsky talked about what we can expect to see from the final chapter in the series. He teased that it will be his most ambitious and emotionally mature work he's ever done, which is pretty exciting to hear. He said:

“It's the final journey; whatever happens at the end is going to happen. One of the reasons I'm doing this is that for the past ten to 15 years, when I speak at schools or do press, the first question always is, 'Samurai Jack — are you going to finish the story?' And so I decided that before that interest goes away, I should just do it. We're doing ten episodes and it's one story.
"It's his journey, but it's pretty epic. Not just emotionally, but the journey that he takes. And there's this overall theme that's more complex and contemporary that I think people can pick up on if they really analyze it. I think it's a lot deeper then anything I've ever done.”

When talking about the challenges of doing something so epic, he explained:

"Luckily we got pretty much everybody back who did the original show. But the hardest thing is us, because we're so ambitious and our ideas are so big, they're so hard to do in television. TV is all about schedule and budget, and you're always fighting that. We've got these ideas and they're hard to execute and they're creative, which is exciting. And that's really the challenge; we can only work so many hours. I was thirty when I did Jack. I'm forty-six and those late nights are brutal now, where before I'd be, like, no problem."

The fifth and final season of Samurai Jack will premiere on Adult Swim on March 11. While we wait for that, you can watch the trailer again and be reminded of the complete badassery that awaits us.

The HAN SOLO Movie Will Reportedly Feature the First Significant Female Droid

Before I get into this news, I've always thought it was weird to think that a robot has a gender. A robot is a robot and is neither male or female. I guess the only thing that sets it apart is the design of the droid and the voice.

Regardless of that random thought about droids not having a gender, a new report has surfaced saying that the new Han Solo Star Wars movie will feature the first significant female droid. As we previously speculated, the droid will be played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who was recently cast in the film.

The news comes from Tracking Board, who says the actress is definitely going to play “the first significantly-featured female droid in Star Wars history” in Lucasfilm's upcoming Star Wars standalone movie.

We've seen female droids before in the Star Wars universe including BD-3000 and Bettie-Bot VJ from The Clone Wars animated series. There is also the PZ-4CO protocol droid who serves alongside Billie Lourd’s character Lieutenant Connix in The Force Awakens (pictured above). Then, of course, there's Aly San San who appears in the prep video for Disneyland’s Star Tours.

None of these droids have played a big role in a story like R2-D2, C-3PO, or K-2SO from Rogue One, though. We don't know what she'll look like, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough now that the cat's out of the bag.

THE TICKET Trailer: Dan Stevens Was Blind But Now He Sees

Here's the trailer for The Ticket, a new movie starring Legion and Beauty and the Beast star Dan Stevens as a blind man who regains the ability to see. But as his character embraces his new outlook on life, he also gives in to temptations and seems to lose his humanity in the process. It looks like another good opportunity for Stevens to show off his range; playing a possibly-crazy mutant, a spellbound monster, and this character all in the first few months of the year leaves me wondering what else we'll see from him in the months to come.

The Ticket arrives in theaters and On Demand on April 7, 2017.

GREEN ROOM Director Casts Jeffrey Wright, Alexander Skarsgard, and More in Netflix Thriller HOLD THE DARK

If you've seen Green Room and Blue Ruin, you know exactly what kind of brutal, punk rock potboilers that filmmaker Jeremy Saulnier is capable of making. The director has lined up a new movie called Hold the Dark that he'll direct for Netflix (read all about that here), and now he's locked down some super talented cast members to star.

THR reports that Westworld star Jeffrey Wright, True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard, and 13 Hours actor James Badge Dale have joined Riley Keough (The Girlfriend Experience) and newcomer James Bloor in the Alaskan thriller.

The movie begins as wolves have stolen and killed three children from a remote Alaskan village, and a wolf-expert biologist is called in to investigate. The biologist learns a horrifying secret from the mother of one of the children, and when the woman's husband returns home to discover his boy dead and his wife missing, he begins a maniacal pursuit that cuts a bloody swath across the frozen landscape. Keough will play the mother, Wright will play the biologist, Skarsgard will play the maniacal husband, and Badge Dale is lined up to play a detective hoping to catch him. (Bloor, a rookie actor we don't know much about, is set to appear in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk and will play a creepy drifter in Hold the Dark.)

Macon Blair, Saulnier's long-time collaborator, wrote the screenplay for this movie. He just wrote and directed a film for Netflix called I don't feel at home in this world anymore., and it's a tight little thriller that bodes well for his future endeavors. This should be a dark, violent shocker in line with Saulnier's other movies, and I'm stoked to see how it turns out. Filming starts next month with Canada doubling for Alaska.

But at least he has his droid buddies K-2SO, R2-D2, and BB-8 to help him through career changes, breakups, or deciding on his favorite coffee mug. Who knew that all of R2's beeps and blorps translated into the catchphrase, "How you doin'?"

James Gunn Says the Intro of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Will Be Cooler Than the First Film's

I loved the opening sequence to James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. It immediately sucked me right into this new side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it was a blast! Most Marvel films don't really do ever do anything awesome with their opening credits, then Guardians of the Galaxy came along and changed all that with this!

If you were a fan of that opening, you'll be happy to hear that Vol. 2 is going to be even better! A fan reached out to Gunn on Twitter and asked if there was going to be an opening title sequence as cool as in the first film? To which Gunn replied:

I can't wait to see what Gunn has done for this new opening title sequence! I assume it will pick up with the entire team in the middle of some wild and crazy mission and Star-Lord will be blasting his music as they are trying to accomplish their mission. I wonder if we've seen any footage from the opening in any of the trailers that we've seen.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be released on May 5th.
