New STAR WARS Fan Theory Suggests Supreme Leader Snoke Is the Last Jedi

Ever since Lucasfilm announced that the title of Rian Johnson's upcoming film will be Star Wars: The Last Jedi, fans have been speculating who the last Jedi is. My money is on Luke Skywalker. It's the obvious choice, plus the opening crawl of The Force Awakens literally says that Luke Skywalker is the last Jedi. Look...

last-jedi-rock-it-111

This doesn't stop fans from coming up with different ideas about who the last Jedi could be. One of the most recent theories I've come across suggests that Supreme Leader Snoke is actually the last Jedi. One thing we know is that Snoke is not a Sith Lord because J.J. Abrams said so. If he's not a Sith... is he a Jedi? The theory comes from AnakinKardashian on Reddit, and this is his explanation:

It was pretty cool how we saw Jedha in Rogue One. But was there also a strategic reason? What if we are supposed to get in the mindset that the Jedi order is very, very ancient? In one of the most recent star wars novels, Palpatine sends someone to Jakku to uncover an ancient secret. In The Force Awakens, we see that Luke is looking for the original Jedi temple. What’s with this sudden obsession with Jedi history? In the Force Awakens novel, Snoke reveals that he is very old. But we don’t know how ancient he is. Kylo Rens lightsaber is confirmed to be an ancient version of the lightsaber. Where did he get it? Snoke. Now keep in mind the title of episode 8, The Last Jedi. What if we are learning about early Jedi because we are going to find out how different the ancient Jedi order is? What if what we know as Jedi are not really Jedi after all? What if Snoke is the last Jedi, in its original form?

It's certainly an intriguing theory with some really cool elements, but I'm not convinced. It seems like it's too far-fetched, but I think the concept is awesome. Snoke is definitely an interesting character, and I'm excited to learn who exactly he is, his history, and what the hell he's up to.

One thing is for sure, he's an ancient character who has seen a lot of shit in his day, and like the theory states, he's familiar with the ancient Jedi order and a lot of other stuff from the history of the Star Wars universe that we're likely going to learn about over the course of the next two saga films.

What do you think about this theory about Snoke?

Carla Gugino Says Stephen King's GERALD'S GAME Is "One of the Most Fulfilling Things I’ve Done"

Carla Gugino has starred in a ton of film throughout her career, and she's had some pretty incredible roles. According to her, her part in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's Gerald's Game is her most fulfilling role yet.

The story is a suspense thriller in which Gugino plays a woman who is left handcuffed to a bed in an isolated cabin after her husband dies abruptly during sex play. As she is trapped alone and trying to escape, "painful memories from her childhood bedevil her. Her only company is a hungry stray dog and the voices that populate her mind. As night comes, she is unsure whether it is her imagination or if she has another companion: someone watching her from the corner of her dark bedroom."

This is a crazy good story, and it's going to make for a great movie. During an interview with Den of Geek, Gugino talked about her role in the film:

“It was one of the hardest, most challenging shoots I've ever done, which is saying a lot. I've definitely chosen some material that's been really challenging. We shot six weeks in Alabama. I think Mike is absolutely the man for the job.
“It's one of the most fulfilling things I've done. I love this woman… you're dealing with something that has elements of horror, but also is really more of a thriller, in the vain of a Misery. And she is also dealing with this childhood sexual trauma with her father, and those are all tricky tones to find together.”

She went on to praise the script of the film, which was written by director Mike Flanagan and Jeff Howard. She went on to talk about some slight changes he made to the story to make the story better for film:

“(Flanagan) has also reworked things to where her personality does split, but it's in a different way than that is in the novel. I think it might end up being more clear for a film.”

The actress then revealed that the movie was shot chronologically, which helped her in the process of the mental disintegration of her character.

“Every step of the way, one of the things (Flanagan) said to me, which directors very rarely say, was, ‘I want you to take ownership over this, this is as much yours as it is mine’…I'm really excited about it.”

The film also stars Bruce Greenwood as Gugino's husband. Gerald's Game will premiere on Netflix, but there's no release date for it yet.

Cosplayer Ginny Di has released a series of charming Harry Potter cosplay photos that fantastically pay tribute to the classic pin-up art of Gil Elvgren. If you're not familiar with his work, you should educate yourself because he made some incredible art over the course of his career from the 1940s to the 1960s.

As someone who grew up with and worked with artists in my life, pin-up art is an art form that I've come to love and appreciate. It's always cool to see other artists and people like Ginny Di inspired by these artists' work as well.

Thrilling Super Bowl Spot for the Sci-Fi Film LIFE with Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal

Sony Pictures has released an intense Super Bowl spot for their sci-fi space thriller Life. The movie star Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Rebecca Ferguson as they are put in a nightmarish situation where they have to fight for their lives while on board a space station after discovering life Mars.

The trailer offers up some exciting new footage that did its job of getting me more excited for the film. The movie comes from Safe House director Daniel Espinosa from a screenplay written by Deadpool and Zombieland screenwriters of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Their involvement along with the cast of the film tells me there's a good chance that this movie could be a great flick.

Life tells the story of the six-member crew of the International Space Station that is on the cutting edge of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. As the crew begins to conduct research, their methods end up having unintended consequences and the life form proves more intelligent than anyone ever expected.

The supporting cast also includes Hiroyuki Sanada (The Wolverine), Ariyon Bakare (New Blood), and Olga Dihovichnaya (Twilight Portrait). Life is set to open in theaters on March 24, 2017. Enjoy the trailers!

Optimus Prime Seeks Redemption in Extended Super Bowl Spot for TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT

A couple days ago Paramount Pictures released a 30-second version of a Super Bowl promo that planned on releasing on Super Bowl Sunday. Well, the full minute long extended version of the trailer has been released ahead of the big game and you can watch it below. It features all the footage from the previous version along with some more new stuff to check out.

Director Michael Bay also released a statement earlier this week saying that The Last Knight was really going to be his final Transformers movie, but he's said that before, so I'll believe it when I see it. I hope it is his last time directing a Transformers film, though, because I actually like his non-Transformers movies. Hopefully this final film of his turns out to be a good one!

The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).
There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.

Transformers: The Last Knight is set for release June 23, 2017.

Dave Mustaine, front man of Megadeth, has revealed in a recent interview with Marvel that the popular song "Holy Wars" was inspired by The Punisher! The full interview with Mustaine starts around 2:00, and takes off pretty quickly with the revelation as Mustaine talks about the exact point in the song it is referenced...

"Believe it or not 'Holy Wars' was inspired by The Punisher. The second half of the song 'The Punishment Due' I mean you can read the lyrics to it...'They killed my wife and my baby with hopes to enslave me', that's Frank Castle!"

That's not the only reference to Frank Castle either, as he is also mentioned in "Killing Is My Business And Business Is Good" as a "paid assassin." Check out the full interview with the metal legend in the video below, and check out both songs below that!

Plex Purchases News Streaming Service Watchup

Plex is expanding its territory in the streaming game as the company recently purchased new streaming service Watchup. Watchup is most known for being an aggregate that centralizes hundreds of news programs like CNN, Vox, and CBS News under one umbrella for people to digest.

With the acquisition, Plex expands its attractive software that is being utilized by those cutting the cord around the nation. I'm still not brave enough to pull the trigger, but I know several friends and family members who have done so with no regrets. Do you think it's something you'll do in the future, or have you done it already?

You've gotta check out this YouTube video from Sam and Niko that features a POV of a Ninja sword slicing through melons. They accomplished this by attaching a GoPro to different places on the sword. It's actually a ton of fun to watch, but maybe that because I just love messing around with Ninja swords and slicing things up in general on my free time.

Johnny Knoxville Set to Star in JACKASS-Inspired Theme Park Comedy ACTION PARK

Johnny Knoxville is set to star in and produce a new film inspired by his Jackass hijinks called Action Park. According to THR, the film "imagines what would happen if Knoxville and his cohorts irresponsibly designed and operated their own theme park." Sounds like it would be a crazy deadly good time!

Tim Kirkby (Veep) will direct the film from a script written by Knoxville, John Altshuler, and Dave Krinsky. I'm intrigued by the concept because I watched a lot of Jackass when it was at its height of popularity. It was one of those guilty pleasures that I enjoyed indulging in.

Production on the film will begin in March, and it will shoot in South Africa. The location of the shoot makes me wonder if they are actually going to build a full-on theme park of death for this movie that will include attractions that will really mess some people up.

It still amazes me that Knoxville was able to make a lucrative career for himself by being a Jackass.

A John Lennon-Yoko Ono Movie Is Being Developed by SOCIAL NETWORK Producer

Michael De Luca, the producer behind films such as The Social Network, Moneyball, Fright Night, the Fifty Shades franchise, and more, is developing a film that tells the story of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The producer is collaborating with Ono, who will offer details on their relationship. If you're not really familiar with the history of Lennon and Ono, here's a brief rundown from Variety:

Ono and Lennon met in 1966 at a London art gallery, where Ono was showing abstract art while the Beatles were four years into being a worldwide phenomenon. Lennon asked Ono about her “Painting to Hammer a Nail In” piece and if he could hammer a nail into the painting. She asked him to pay five shillings per nail, but the two then agreed that Lennon would pay imaginary money to hammer an imaginary nail.
Lennon and Ono were married 1969 in Gibraltar with the experience immortalized in the song “The Ballad of John and Yoko,” which was the Beatles’ final number one U.K. hit. The Beatles broke up in 1970 as each embarked on solo careers.
Ono and Lennon became strong advocates for peace and they collaborated on music, highlighted by the 1980 album “Double Fantasy,” released a few weeks before Lennon was murdered in New York City. She remains active in art and acting as the caretaker of Lennon’s legacy.

The script for the film will be written by Anthony McCarten, who previously wrote The Theory of Everything. This should make for an interesting film. I'm a huge fan of The Beatles, but I really don't know much about the relationship between Lennon and Ono. One thing that I've always heard several times over the years from several people, though, was that Ono was a thorn in the side of the band, and it's been long rumored that she played a major role in The Beatles breaking up. I doubt this movie will address that rumor, but you never know!

Are you interested in seeing a movie that tells the story of this relationship?

Michael Pena to Play a Desperate Man in Sci-Fi Thriller EXTINCTION

Michael Pena plays a desperate husband and father looking to protect his family from aliens in the sci-fi thriller Extinction. Variety says the film will make its debut next month at the Berlin Film Festival. Considering we've seen no footage or teases of the film up until this point, I believe it's safe to say this film is a small feature.

The film was directed by Alexander Young, who is most known for his work on the film Hounds of Love...

That brief trailer was definitely disturbing, but I liked the way it was shot. I'm hoping Extinction gets some attention! I love Michael Pena and I love sci-fi, so it would take a lot for me not to enjoy this film.

Remember the Super Bowls of the Past With This Classic Ad From THE SIMPSONS

This Sunday the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons will go head to head in the Super Bowl. This will be the first time the Falcons have appeared in the Super Bowl since they lost to Denver in the 1999 Super Bowl. Coincidentally, this video featuring a previously "lost clip" from The Simpsons aired before that very Super Bowl! Reddit, of course, gets credit for the random YouTube detective work, but let's consider how amazing this was for the time it was created!

Can you imagine The Simpsons having a tie-in feature with the Super Bowl now? I'm sure it could still happen, but the series doesn't have anywhere close to the popularity it did back in 1999. Many would consider that the peak of the series, as the series saw a decline in viewership in the following years, but it's still kicking! I don't think Fox could cancel The Simpsons at this point even if they wanted to, the backlash would be too great!

I guess the video isn't incredibly impressive, but definitely worth sharing with a sports fan if you happen to be the only person who doesn't know football at the upcoming Super Bowl party.
