AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Begins Filming Today

$

Filming for both Avengers: Infinity War films are currently underway! Comicbook reports that filming has started, and while we don't know exactly how that all works, it must mean there will be some crossover between the two films. Obviously, the second film will be a continuation of the first, but I'm wondering if there will be events that happen simultaneously in both films which is why they're being filmed at the same time?

More than likely each major actor has a limited timeframe and will need to shoot their scenes for both films at the same time. That makes the most sense considering the plethora of talent in tow for the film!

Personally, I don't care how they film it provided it's better than Avengers: Age of Ultron. Can we all agree that movie was just bad?

SAMURAI JACK Returns for Fifth Season March 11th

The fifth season of Samurai Jack will begin March 11th on Adult Swim! Polygon says the fifth season will be 10 episodes wrapping up the popular series that aired on Cartoon Network in the 2000s. For those who haven't been following the development, the series will be notably more gory and adult themed than the original run of the series.

I'm very excited to see the conclusion of the series, but the angry geek inside me is screaming and asking why we only get 10 more episodes! I guess we should just be happy with what we're getting. I'm hoping Adult Swim starts running the original series leading up to the new season so we can catch up! It's been so long since I've seen an episode!

Let's hope that the series doesn't lose too much of its humor in the switch to an older audience. The series will be running Saturday nights on Toonami alongside Dragon Ball Super

Ruin Your Day With This Weird Ass Adult Swim Video

For the past couple decades Adult Swim has been the source for media that walks a fine line between genius and stupid. This video is just that. Someone spent hours creating this two minute video, and for what purpose?! I guess they know you'll watch it because you love them, and they're right for me at least. I got a little grossed out watching it, but it's still super cool to watch. Check it out below.

Ridley Scott Considering Remake of Hit Korean Horror THE WAILING

$

Ridley Scott is currently in talks with Korean studio FIP to direct a remake of the successful Korean horror The Wailing. While Scott feels he can make it happen, head of FIP Korea Hosung Kim thinks it's a long shot that the film could find success outside of its home country...

"The locality and sensibility of The Wailing is so strong that I don’t think it would be easy to do a Western remake, and it will be important who directs it. So I told him I think the only director who could do the remake is Na Hong Jin. But we are still in early stages of talks..."

Na Hong Jin is director of the original film, and while Scott could direct it himself, he could easily executive produce and pass the project onto Jin. While I agree that the film may translate poorly to a new setting, I'm not sure how taking a native Korean and having them adapt the film to a non-Korean setting is a better idea than just letting a Westerner handle it? It could be possible the film is still being based in Korea seeing as it's just in discussions right now, so who really knows?

I have yet to see the film, but I was a big fan of the trailer back when I first saw it. If you haven't seen it yourself, check it out below...

Sundance Review: BERLIN SYNDROME Is a Brutally Intense Thriller

$

Teresa Palmer has been a roll starring in solidly good movies lately. She recently has starred in films such as Lights Out and Hacksaw Ridge, and now she stars in an upcoming film called Berlin Syndrome. It's easily one of her best and insane roles to date. She killed it in this film and gave an incredible performance.

Palmer plays a young women named Clare, who travels to Berlin on a journey to explore the city and take photos of the architecture. Along the way, she meets a charming young man named Andi (Max Riemelt) who woos her into staying in Berlin to be with him a little longer. This choice to stay turns into a complete nightmare as Andi turns out to be a complete nutjob. He ends up locking her in her apartment and holding her as a prisoner with no plans on letting her leave alive.

The film is utterly brutal and extremely intense as we watch this young woman forced to survive in this horrific situation. This dude who locked her away has got some serious issues and as the story unfolds, Teresa unlocks some of the mysteries that he's been hiding from her.

As I was watching this movie, all I wanted was for Palmer to escape and get the hell out of there! She has several failed attempts through the course of the movie, and it's so damn discouraging! It's just brutal watching her deal with all the shit that she has to go through.

One thing that bugged me about the film is how many situations I saw for her to take advantage of to try to escape that she didn't do! It was frustrating seeing certain moments where you see something that she could do to escape and then she doesn't take advantage of the opportunity.

Regardless of that, Berlin Syndrome was a very well-made film that I think some audiences will enjoy. It all depends on if you enjoy these kinds of crazy heart-pounding movies.

Relive Your Childhood Love of Anime in This Awesome TOONAMI Mini-Doc

I firmly believe most people in their 20s to early 30s who are into anime got that way thanks to Toonami. It was a ritual for me to get home from school and blaze through my homework so I could watch Dragon Ball Z, Tenchi Muyo, Sailor Moon, or whatever was on at the time! To this day I still DVR its lineup on the late night block despite having much better access to anime than I ever had back then!

KaptainKristian did a mini-doc on the history of the program that uncovered a lot of info on the program that I never knew before. Give it a look and share your favorite Toonami memory below! Personally, I remember watching their music special and learning about Gorillaz and Daft Punk through them.

Thomas Jane in Final Talks to Join Shane Black's New PREDATOR Film

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys director Shane Black has been adding actors to his new Predator movie over the past couple of weeks as he prepares to start shooting next month, and it looks like he's not quite finished rounding out the cast yet. THR reports that Thomas Jane is in final negotiations to join the project. If the deal goes through, he'd join The People vs. O.J. Simpson's Sterling K. BrownLogan's Boyd Holbrook, Keegan-Michael Key, and Moonlight's Trevante Rhodes as a group of humans facing off against the alien threat. Olivia Munn plays a scientist.

There's still some confusion about whether or not this movie will take place in the suburbs. THR reports that it will, while Black himself has denied that claim. So there's still a lot about this movie that we don't know (almost everything, in fact), but I'm hoping that Black — who had a role in the original film — will indeed bring his brand of action and humor to this new entry in the franchise. The movie is set for release on February 9, 2018.

Check Out This Batshit Crazy Trailer for a Film Called KUSO

I've got a seriously bonkers trailer for you to watch today for a batshit crazy looking film called Kuso. The film is screening up at Sundance this week, and I'm hoping catch a screening of this complete madness. You'll have to watch the trailer to understand the kind of insanity I'm trying to convey to you, but before you watch it, here's a synopsis:

Broadcasted through a makeshift network of discarded televisions, this story is tangled up in the aftermath of Los Angeles's worst earthquake nightmare. Travel between screens and aftershocks into the twisted lives of the survived.
Welcome to the weird and wild mind of filmmaker Steven Ellison. Already acclaimed for his expansive psychedelic albums as musician Flying Lotus, Ellison steps behind the camera to direct this mind-altering freakshow of a first feature, co-written with David Firth and Zach Fox. Their unbridled imaginations plunge the audience into a magical mix of filth-covered fables and hypnotic animations to reveal a film rotting from the inside out. This outrageous fever dream counts influences all the way from David Cronenberg to The Ren & Stimpy Show and features performances from comedians Hannibal Buress and Tim Heidecker. From its jaw-dropping imagery to its stomach-churning special effects, Kuso is the kind of film you’ll never be able to un-see.

Now watch the trailer and tell me what you think! Honestly, nothing can prepare you for this...

Great New Photos from LOGAN with X-23 Unleashing the Fury

There's no doubt in my mind that Dafne Keen's X-23 character is going to end up being a fan favorite in Logan. I'm not alone in thinking the footage that we saw of her in the last trailer was completely badass! It was a lot of fun seeing her go ballistic on some bad guys.

Thanks to Empire, we now have a few new photos from Logan, a couple of which feature X-23 looking rabid as hell and ready to destroy whatever gets in her way. There's also images of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Patrick Stewart's Professor Xavier.

Set in the near future, the film follows a weary Logan as he cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

The James Mangold-directed film is set to be unleashed in theaters on March 3rd.

TRICK 'R TREAT Director Michael Dougherty Confirmed to Direct GODZILLA 2

After Trick 'r Treat and Krampus director Michael Dougherty was hired on to write the sequel to Gareth Edwards' Godzilla, there was a rumor that he would also direct it. That rumor has now been confirmed to be true by Variety, and Dougherty is officially set to direct the giant creature in Godzilla 2.

Legendary Pictures obviously likes what Dougherty is doing with the story for the sequel with his script, and now they are confident in him taking it all the way through development and production.

I'm a huge fan of Dougherty's work, and I trust that he's going to give fans an incredible film. I couldn't be happier for the filmmaker and the rise of his career making big budget features like this. He's also set to help develop the other monster films in the franchise including Godzilla vs. King Kong.

If you've never seen Dougherty's films before, you've really got to check them out. They are a blast to watch! I can't wait to see what he's planning for Godzilla!

Godzilla 2 is currently slated for March 22, 2019, with Godzilla vs. Kong set for May 29, 2020.

LA LA LAND Earns 14 Nominations for the 89th Academy Awards! See the Full List

The nominations for the 89th Academy Awards are in and La La Land leads the pack with 14 nominations! I knew La La Land was going to explode at this event, and it's probably going to end up taking home many of the awards is was nominated for. The 14 nominations ties the record with 1997's Titanic and 1950's All About Eve.

Arrival ended up with eight nominations as did Moonlight, while Hacksaw Ridge, Lion, and Manchester by the Sea all got six. Deadpool ended up with zero nominations. I was hoping to see it somewhere on the list, but it looks like all that hype didn't work.

Every film and actor who was nominated for their work deserves to be on this list, so congratulations to them all! There are so many great films and actors to root for, but there can be only one winner in each category.

Jimmy Kimmel is set to host the 89th Academy Awards, which will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC Television Network at 7 p.m. ET. The Oscars will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.

Check out the full list of nominations below and lets us know which films and actors you want to see win.

Daniella Pineda Joins Universal's JURASSIC WORLD Sequel as New Female Lead

$

Universal's sequel to Jurassic World has just found a new female lead in actress Daniella Pineda, best known for her work on TV shows like The Originals, American Odyssey, and The Detour. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are returning for the new movie, which is being written by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly and directed by J.A. Bayona.

Variety has the news, and though they don't have specific information about her character (official info on the project is still very scarce), they say she'll be a new female lead. This will mark her first role in a major blockbuster production, and she'll be joining Pratt, Howard, and new additions Rafe Spall, Toby Jones, and The Get Down star Justice Smith in the movie, which is set to open on June 22, 2018. I'm not familiar with Pineda because I haven't seen any of the TV shows she's been in, but maybe some of you have. What do you think about her joining Jurassic World 2 in a key role?

Earthling Cinema Provides Goofy Analysis of Zack Snyder's WATCHMEN

Earthling Cinema is back with a new episode, and this time they're looking back at Zack Snyder's 2009 film adaptation of Watchmen. I liked the movie a lot when it came out (though I was disappointed they didn't go all in and include the giant squid at the end), but I caught a few minutes of it on TV the other day, and now I find it to be a bit too self-serious. This criticism can be applied to a majority of Snyder's directorial efforts, so I guess it's not surprising. Anyway, this goofy analysis of the movie put a smile on my face and maybe it'll do the same for you. (NSFW language ahead.)

Sounds Like Neill Blomkamp's ALIEN 5 May Not Happen

$

District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp has been trying to get an Alien sequel off the ground for a few years, and he was pretty close to launching Alien 5 (a film that was supposed to ignore the events of Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection) with Sigourney Weaver reprising her iconic role as Ellen Ripley...but then, Ridley Scott's sequel to Prometheus (now known as Alien: Covenant) became a top priority for 20th Century Fox, and Blomkamp's project lost its momentum.

Still, the script has the approval of Weaver and Aliens director James Cameron, so you'd think that'd count for something. We assumed it'd be a while before we got to see the movie come to life, but thanks to a tweet from Blomkamp himself, the entire project is being called into question. When someone asked him what the chances are of his Alien project happening, Blomkamp responded:

Not exactly what excited fans wanted to hear. But hey, at least Alien: Covenant looks pretty good, right?

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Was the Title of a Fan Film Before EPISODE VIII Took It

$

Yesterday, Disney and Lucasfilm made waves by announcing that the official name of Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII is really Star Wars: The Last Jedi. But unbeknownst to the majority of us, that wasn't actually the first time that title had been used by a Star Wars movie. THR points us to a fan film with the same name, which came out back in 2014 but has obviously become relevant again. You can watch it below:

The filmmakers spoke to THR about the name/idea for Colin Trevorrow's Episode IX, the movie that's set to continue the Skywalker saga after The Last Jedi, and they had an amusing response:

"The last Star Wars film we made was called Reunion and featured German expressionist-inspired visuals and guys wearing kabuki theater style makeup," says Loukus. "I guess crazier things have happened, and I'd probably pay to see a high budget treatment of the same concept, so they're welcome to it."

New JUSTICE LEAGUE Photo with Batman and Wonder Woman Leading the Team

Updated with high resolution image!

Thanks to Empire, we have a new photo from Zack Snyder's Justice League to share with you. It features Batman and Wonder Woman taking charge and leading The Flash and Cyborg into some kind of industrial setting. We still have yet to see Superman join the team in any of these photos, but when we do see him, he'll most likely be wearing the black suit that has been teased. As for Aquaman's absence, I'm sure he's doing something productive.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Ciarán Hinds, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, and Jesse Eisenberg. It hits theaters on November 11, 2017. To check out all of our Justice League news, click here.
