Marvel has released their third and final Funko animated short. It's called "Chimichangas," and in it, we get to see Deadpool battle Venom over chimichangas. As you'll see, the short was inspired by a familiar scene from the Deadpool movie. This animated short film series has been fun to watch, and I hope that Marvel and Funko team up again to make more of them.

To watch the previously released shorts, you can see Iron Man and Spider-Man battle Loki here, and you can watch Rocket Raccoon save Baby Groot from The Collector here

WALKING DEAD Star Sonequa Martin-Green Lands Lead Role in STAR TREK: DISCOVERY

After a long search for the actress to take the lead female role in the upcoming series Star Trek: Discovery, producers have cast Walking Dead star Sonequa Martin-Green in the role. CBS made a great choice, as she's a solid actress who has done some great work. She will take on the role of the main character that the series revolves around, a lieutenant commander on the Discovery who will be referred to as "Number One".

She joins the previously announced cast that includes Doug Jones as Lt. Saru, a Starfleet Science Officer; Anthony Rapp as Lt. Stamets, an astromycologist, fungus expert, and Starfleet Science Officer; and Michelle Yeoh as Starfleet captain Georgiou.

In case you're wondering if this means Martin-Green's character will be killed off on The Walking Dead, the answer is no. EW says that she will continue to serve as a series regular on the show. The report also makes a point to mention that Martin-Green "represents the first African-American woman to lead the cast of a Trek ensemble."

Star Trek: Discovery will take place before the original Star Trek series, and it's set to premiere in May on CBS before going to CBS All Access. What do you all think about Martin-Green landing the lead role in the series?

Emma Stone's Live-Action Cruella De Vil Movie Finds a Director

Disney is ready to move forward with their live-action Cruella De Vil movie as they are going to hire Mozart of the Jungle co-creator and theater director Alex Timbers to helm the project. The movie is called Cruella, and Emma Stone is set to play the title character.

The movie will give fans an origin story of the classic villain introduced in Disney’s 1961 animated classic 101 Dalmatians, in which she's obsessed with capturing the dalmatians. The new film is said to take place in the 1980s. Glenn Close played the villain in the 1996 live-action John Hughes-produced movie.

I think Stone is such a great choice to play this character, and it'll be fun to see how she brings her to life. I'm not really familiar with Timber's work, but the guy obviously had a successful pitch meeting with Disney and managed to land the gig with his vision.

Cruella is described as having both "strong fashion and music sensibilities," and the report says that it's "something that seems to be a natural fit for Timbers." He has directed the stage play Peter and the Star Catcher, worked on The Pee-Wee Herman Show, and is directing a Broadway musical adaptation of Rocky.

Thanks to Entertainment Earth for Making Me Feel Like I Was 10 Years Old Again

Last week Entertainment Earth invited me over to their headquarters and warehouse where I got to meet the team behind the toy company and go on a $500 action figure shopping spree! It was pretty awesome walking around their warehouse looking for the items that I wanted to get my hands on.

This was all part of a promotional event for a contest they are currently holding where you can enter to win a $1000 shopping spree, and it is totally worth entering because if you win, I can promise you that you’ll have the experience of a lifetime! All you have to do to enter is click here and fill out the information!

They recently sent me a few photos from my time with them. Many of the photos feature me in their giant warehouse collecting a bunch of cool stuff! I also included photos of some of the items that I nabbed while I was there. These are all figures that I’ve been wanting to add to my collection, and they include items from Batman: The Animated Series, The Twilight Zone, Samurai Spider-Man, Samurai Stormtrooper, some Funko Re-Action Figures, and more.

The best part about these photos is that you can see how excited I am. It gives you a glimpse of what I looked like as a kid on Christmas morning. This experience definitely made me feel like I was 10 years old again. Between this experience and being able to see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story early, Christmas definitely came early for me this year!

THE GOLDBERGS Will Finally Have a KARATE KID-Themed Episode!

ABC's The Goldbergs is easily one of the funniest, most entertaining shows on TV right now. It's an explosion of '80s nostalgia, and since it's been on the air it has themed episodes inspired by some of our favorite classic films. Some of those films include The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Dirty Dancing, The Goonies, Say Anything, A Christmas Story, Knight RiderMisery, and Commando.

I've been saying since they started that they had to do an episode inspired by The Karate Kid, and I'm excited to say that it's finally happening! With a show like this, it was only a matter of time. Don't forget, Barry has always had a love for martial arts, and during Erica's talent show in season one he showed off his skills with the iconic crane kick. EW offers the following story details on the episode:

The episode finds Adam (Sean Giambrone) and Barry (Troy Gentile) cornered by a tough kid at school but given the opportunity to fight back in a school-sanctioned karate match. Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey), as she is wont to do, is compelled to intervene, effectively becoming the boys’ “Mr. Momyagi” as she tries to protect her schmoos.

It would be amazing to see Ralph Macchio make a cameo in this episode! They don't say if he will or not, but that's something that fans would enjoy seeing. The Karate Kid episode will air in late winter/early spring of 2017.

Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is hot off his recent success with Disney's Moana. He's working on several projects with Disney at the moment including The Return of Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, and a secret untitled animation project.

Miranda is now teaming up with Sony Animation to develop an animated musical called Vivo. Sony doesn't really do musicals, but they are obviously looking to cash in on what makes Disney successful and also bring in the guy who is currently helping them with that.

The story follows "a monkey who loves music and adventure, leading him to make a dangerous journey from Havana to Miami to fulfill his destiny."

Miranda has become a pretty busy guy, but this is a project that it seems like he could have fun with. He will write several songs for the movie, which is being scripted by playwright and Previous Miranda collaborator Quiara Alegría Hudes. The film will be directed by Kirk De Micco, who previously directed The Croods.

Legendary Comics Announces THE GREAT WALL Prequel Graphic Novel

Legendary Pictures' upcoming fantasy epic The Great Wall looks like a visually stunning and awesome film. I'm really excited about seeing it. The story was inspired by the construction of The Great Wall of China, and it involves an army of warriors battling giant creatures.

The Great Wall tells the story of an elite force making a valiant stand for humanity on the world’s most iconic structure.

Legendary Comics has announced that they will be releasing a prequel graphic novel that tells the events leading up to what the film entails. They also shared the cover for the comic created by Whilce Portacio

The graphic novel was written by Arvid Nelson and artist Gian Fernando, and they offered the following synopsis in the press release:

What if an army was created to defend our world from an enemy so dangerous, its very existence must be kept a secret? Built to keep out the ferocious Tao Tei, The Great Wall is the most powerful defensive structure ever built; but it is the heroes within that make the wall great: The Nameless Order. Set sixty years prior to the film, in the mysterious lands of ancient China, tragedy forces young Bao into joining The Nameless Order and upholding the corps’ four principles: Discipline, Loyalty, Secrecy, and Sacrifice. Challenged by rivals, haunted by his past, and tested by desires, Bao spends his life preparing for one singular moment: when he will have to defend the world from ferocious monsters that have come to devour us all.

This should be a great way to lead audiences into the film from director Zhang Yimou (House of Flying Daggers). The film has a great cast that includes Matt Damon, Pedro Pascal, Willem Dafoe, Andy Lau, Tian Jing, Eddie Peng, Numan Acar, Han Lu, Kenny Lin, and Zhang Hanyu

The graphic novel will be released on January 24, 2017. The film comes out on February 17, 2017.

Earthling Cinema Analyzes Pixar's WALL*E

Earthling Cinema is back with a new video review, and this time they're looking back at Pixar's 2008 film Wall*E. I'm convinced that the film's opening scenes (the ones without any dialogue) remain some of Pixar's best work, standing alongside the opening of Up and the end of Toy Story 3 (side note: I really hope they don't blow it with Toy Story 4). In this episode, they look at the consumerism themes of the film, the connections to 2001: A Space Odyssey, and more. Check it out below.

Megan Fox Is Rumored to Be Up for Poison Ivy Role in GOTHAM CITY SIRENS

$

Earlier this week we learned that Suicide Squad director David Ayer will be teaming back up with Margot Robbie and Warner Bros. to develop Gotham City Sirens, which will focus on Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman. There’s a lot to be excited about for this film because it brings these three characters together on the big screen for the first time.

Bleeding Cool is reporting that the role of Poison Ivy might be filled by Megan Fox. They say she is definitely pursuing the role because she’s a big comic book fan, and she is buying up specific pre-52 DC comic books that involve Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. These comics have reportedly been sent to her Warner Bros. Studio office address. They provided a couple of the issues that she ordered below.

Those comics include Harley Quinn #14, #17, and #38. What makes these choices interesting is the fact that they feature the first appearances of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy together and the early formation of their relationship. This is something that the film would have to put some focus on.

Now, just because she’s buying up comics doesn’t mean that she will be playing Poison Ivy, but if this is true, it’s pretty clear that she is doing some research. It’s really not hard to imagine her as Poison Ivy, but I personally think she’s a terrible actress and there are better actresses who could take on the role. But what do you think? Do you think that Fox has what it takes to bring Poison Ivy to life on the big screen?

Director Zack Snyder released a new image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman in his upcoming Justice League movie. Then Momoa released a video called Canvas of My Life, which features a few behind-the-scenes clips of himself from the set of the film.

It was also recently reported that the solo Aquaman movie will be shot in Australia at Village Roadshow Studios. It's also said that the budget for the film is around $160 million. Director James Wan will start shooting next year.

We've seen very little of Momoa's version of Aquaman, and it's still hard to tell what exactly we're going to get from his portrayal. Joining Momoa in the sequel are Amber Heard as his wife Mera and Patrick Wilson as his half-brother Orm, the future villain Ocean Master. Justice League will debut in theaters on November 10, 2017, and Aquaman is set to be released on October 15, 2018.

Listen: One of the Best Pieces of STAR WARS Music Gets the Acapella Treatment

I'm guessing most of you know what's coming in this video just from the headline alone, but for those who may need it confirmed: yes, The Warp Zone does John Williams' epic "Duel of the Fates" acapella in this video (presumably in honor of this week's release of Rogue One), and it's just as stellar as I hoped it'd be. This is hands down one of the best pieces of music from not only the entire Star Wars franchise, but from Williams' jaw-dropping and monumentally impressive body of work as a whole. Prepare yourselves for greatness:

Molly Ringwald Was Perfectly Cast as Archie's Mom in RIVERDALE Series

$

The CW is in production on a new TV series based on the classic Archie comics. It's called Riverdale, and it's being developed by TV producer Greg Berlanti, who has given us Arrow and The Flash. The show is a gritty reimagining of the comic that is set in the modern day and features characters from the comic.

One of those characters is Archie's mom, and according to TVLine they've cast Molly Ringwald in that role. Ringwald is a perfect choice to take on the role. She's best known for her '80s films like Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club. She most recently had a five-season run on the then-ABC Family drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

The character will appear in two episodes in the first season, and the report offers the following information on her story arc:

Having left Riverdale two years ago to follow her dreams, Ringwald’s Mary Andrews comes back to town in her family’s hour of need. She not only reconnects with Archie (played by New Zealand actor K.J. Apa) and her husband, Fred (90210‘s Luke Perry), but also her former high school gal-pals Hermione and Alice, just in time for a Homecoming Dance.

For a little more information on the upcoming series, here's the synopsis:

Riverdale follows the main crew of Archie, Betty, Veronica and their friends, as they explore the surrealistic twists of small-town life, in addition to the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale's wholesome facade. Set in fictional town of Riverdale, N.Y., the drama will focus on the love triangle of Archie Andrews, girl-next-door Betty Cooper and rich socialite Veronica Lodge.
The entire cast of supporting characters, including Reggie Mantle, Archie's rival; Jughead Jones, Archie's best friend; Kevin Keller, a popular gay character; and Josie and the Pussycats; will also be featured and introduced.

Riverdale premieres Thursday, January 26, 2017. In case you missed it, you can watch the first promo for the series here.

Enchanting Teaser Trailer for New Anime Film MARY AND THE WITCH'S FLOWER

$

I've got a wonderfully strange trailer for a new anime film from Studio Ponoc called Mary and the Witch's Flower. The movie is based on a book written by Mary Stewart called The Little Broomstick, and it was directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, who previously brought us The Secret World of Arrietty and When Marnie Was There

The film tells the story of a girl who finds a broomstick that leads her to a school for witches where she learns that there are deformed mutant animals from experiments being locked away in cages. As you'll see in the trailer, the film seems to emulate some of that Studio Ghibli magic, even though it's not a Studio Ghibli film. Here's the synopsis:

It is Tib the black cat who leads Mary to the strange flower in the woods. When she discovers a broomstick shortly afterwards, she is astonished to feel it jump in to action. Before she can gather her wits, it is whisking her over the treetops, above the clouds, and in to the grounds of Endor College, where: 'All Examinations Coached for by A Competent Staff of Fully-Qualified Witches.' Here she discovers evidence of a terrible experiment in transformation - deformed and mutant animals imprisoned in cages. In the moment after her broomstick takes off, she realises that Tib has been captured.

The film is set to open in Japan in the summer of 2017. I'm sure it will eventually make its way to the U.S.

Bane and Kylo Ren Face Off Playing Retro Video Games

The team at Auralnauts has put together a fun video that imagines what would happen if Bane from The Dark Knight Rises faced off against Kylo Ren from The Force Awakens in an original new game called Multibowl. The game consists of two players being dropped into random retro video games and having to complete a task in an allotted amount of time before the system drops them into an entirely different game. It looks a lot of fun (bummer that they can't actually release it due to rights issues), and the commentary back and forth between these "characters" is pretty entertaining.

Jessica Camacho Joining THE FLASH as Gypsy

$

Jessica Camacho (Sleepy Hollow) will be joining the cast of The Flash as DC hero Gypsy. The Wrap says Carlos Valdes (Cisco) revealed the following about the character in a recent appearance at CW Fan Fest...

“There’s going to be a new visitor to our world named Gypsy...DC Comics fans will be familiar with Gypsy. She is going to be coming in our world and Vibe will definitely get to learn some new skills as part of getting to know her. So I’m excited to see how that plays out.”

This makes sense as in the comics Gypsy teaches Vibe additional abilities and is also involved in the Justice League as well as the Birds of Prey. I'm just pumped that we're going to see more of a Cisco storyline! I'm really hoping we see him come into his own as Vibe.

The Flash is scheduled to continue its third season in late January.
