Horror Movie Homes Featured in Art Series by Jason Edmiston

Artist Jason Edmiston is the creator of this horror movie art series that focuses on the homes of the monsters in these films. These are a part of the Mondo art show called "Home." When talking about his series of art, Edmiston said:

"I wanted to challenge myself. My comfort zone obviously lies in portraiture, but I wanted an incentive to broaden my abilities while staying true to subjects I adore. Last spring I pondered what to tackle for Mondo Gallery's House Party group show. Mondo’s art guru, Mitch Putnam, suggested painting a series of small, monochromatic horror houses. Normally this type of subject only gets a secondary focus in my work when it appears at all, like the cabins in my Hateful Eight or Evil Dead posters. I really enjoyed trying to give the same dramatic expression to these structures that the human element normally carries. For this show, I expanded the concept by tackling a wide variety of houses or what could essentially be considered homes from well known horror properties using a punch of red to highlight a significant element."

You can check out his wonderfully made series of art below.

10 Movies That Accurately Predicted The Future

0
0

It's always fun when something happens in real life that we realized was unexpectedly predicted in a movie first. ScreenRant has released a new video that points out ten of these films that accurately predicted certain events that came to pass. Some of the films included in the list include The Cable Guy, The Truman Show, Minority Report, Back to the Future Part II, Blade Runner, Airplane II: The Sequel, and more.

Wouldn’t it be incredible to know the future? To know what comes next? Sure, it would take all the surprises out of life but think of all the failures and misery you could potentially avoid. Most of us wish we could have made different decisions, but what’s happened has happened. This is where the following list of films come in. You can say these movies were somehow prophetic and accurately predicted some future events including online gaming, face transplants and reality TV. Of course, you could argue these “prophecies” would happen anyway due to natural selection and you would probably be correct. Nonetheless, check out these 10 movies that correctly predicted the future.

THE GOLDBERGS is Getting a 1990s Spin-Off Series Starring Bryan Callen

0
0

I think The Goldbergs is one of the most fun and entertaining series on TV. Having grown up during the time period that it takes place in, it's just a nostalgic explosion of '80s greatness. If you aren't watching it, you totally should be.

Deadline is reporting that there's a spinoff series coming that will be set in the 1990s and it will star the recurring character Mr. Mellor, played by Bryan Callen. According to the report, the untitled new comedy is about "two high school teachers, including Callen’s coach Mr. Mellor, who become unlikely father figures to the school secretary’s three misfit kids."

The series new series comes from The Goldbergs team that include creator/executive producer Adam F. Goldberg, executive producers Marc Firek & Doug Robinson of Happy Madison, and Seth Gordon.

The Goldbergs is currently in its fourth season and it's been another great season full of great humor and '80s pop culture references. I hope this spinoff series ends up being just as good.

If you're a fan of the Tron franchise, you're gonna love the latest Grand Theft Auto Online update! It's called "Deadline" and it was obviously heavily inspired by the world of Tron. In it, players get to race around on Tron-like light cycles and battle each other. It looks spectacularly fun! There's no doubt that Tron fans will want to get in on the action! I've included all the details regarding the "Deadline" update below:

Turn the streets of Los Santos into a stylish electronic videogame battle to the death with the latest update to GTA Online. Achieve hyper speed on the futuristic Nagasaki Shotaro and demolish foes with the power of your light trail in the new Adversary Mode, Deadline.
NEW VEHICLE: NAGASAKI SHOTARO
Light up the night with the blazingly fast Nagasaki Shotaro. Packed with enough energy to power the Los Santos grid and sporting the looks of an auto-show concept vehicle, the Shotaro delivers a driving experience that is out of this world. Experience the delights of the Shotaro first in the new Deadline Adversary Mode, which will unlock the bike for purchase at Legendary Motorsport. And for a limited time, proud new Shotaro owners will get a free Nagasaki Logo Tee added to their wardrobe.

The First Full Trailer for GHOST IN THE SHELL Is Absolutely Incredible!

the-first-full-trailer-for-ghost-in-the-shell-is-absolutly-incredible

Paramount Pictures has unleashed the first full trailer for the live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell, and it's freakin' awesome! I was really hoping that this movie would turn out to be great, and judging from this trailer, there's a good chance that fans are going to get a hell of an incredible film. Director Rupert Sanders has done an insane job with the visuals, and from what it looks like, the script is solid as well.

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, “GHOST IN THE SHELL” follows Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

When Scarlett Johansson talked about the film with Collider she explained the character she is playing:

“You can’t rip it off the page, it’s totally different. You’re playing it as a – it’s not really a person, but it’s a human brain, it’s someone who’s having this life experience. Which is very different from just ripping stuff off from the manga. One thing that will be very different probably is we’re not making the Frank Miller world where those graphic novels come to life. We have kind of the iconic iconography of the Manga and stuff, but I think people will be surprised at the gritty kind of realness of this. For a person that doesn’t have a heart, it has a lot of heart, I think.”

The rest of the cast includes Beat Takeshi Kitano as Daisuke Aramaki, Juliette Binoche as Dr. Ouelet, Michael Pitt as Kuze, Pilou Asbæk as Batou, and Kaori Momoi. The members of Section 9 are played by Chin Han, Danusia Samal, Lasarus Ratuere, Yutaka Izumihara, and Tuwanda Manyimo.

Ghost in the Shell is set to be released on March 31st, 2017, and I'm seriously excited to see it! This trailer completely sold me on it.

TRAINSPOTTING TV Series Teased By Author Irvine Welsh

0
0

Last week, we got to watch the first trailer for Danny Boyle's T2: Trainspotting. If you're a fan of the first movie, then there's no doubt you liked what you saw in the trailer. It sees the return of the characters Renton (Ewan McGregor), Sick Boy (Johnny Lee Miller), Spud (Ewen Bremner), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle).

It looks like this sequel might not be the last time that we see these characters together again. Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh says that they might come back together in a TV series. Welsh has plenty of material to work with as he wrote a sequel called Porno, and a prequel called Skagboys. There's also a spinoff story he released called The Blade Artist, which centers on the character Begbie.

During an interview with NME, Welsh said:

"Basically, I’ve plans for them all. All in various kind of schedules or adaptations. It’s all ruling on cable TV, cable TV has some interesting developments. We’re working on all these different kind of things. I think now anybody who’s in the book, whether they like it or not, they’re working on the way of being in the film. You keep that in mind. As soon as you’ve written it, you’re thinking about how it can move into different mediums."

I'm sure the fans wouldn't mind seeing these characters come back in a TV series. Of course, if it happens, I seriously doubt the cast of the film would come back to reprise their roles. I'm sure all the characters would need to be recast. If anything did happen with it as a series, I think the prequel Skagboys would be the way to go. Welsh went on to talk about the upcoming sequel:

"We were all nervous before we decided to do it… [but] once we saw the script, everybody was confident that we were certainly not going to trash the legacy of the first film and that we were going to build on it. It has managed to take the most dynamic elements of the [Trainspotting] book and [the sequel] Porno but also look forward to how it can be contemporary and present day… In some ways, I think it’s a better movie [than Trainspotting]… They have become such iconic characters and this is going to cement that status even more."

Welsh also said that it “feels like a big epic movie” and “a great standalone film,” which is kinda cool to hear. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it. T2: Trainspotting is scheduled to be released on February 3, 2017.

Review: ARRIVAL is the Sad-Yet-Hopeful Film We Need Right Now

0
0

I hadn’t seen a single trailer for Arrival before watching it. In fact, I hadn’t seen any ads for it anywhere, which may say more about my life than it does about their advertising. So when I looked it up, I saw that it had two big-name actors, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, so I assumed it would be another alien invasion popcorn flick. This is not by any means an insult. I love those kinds of movies, but it would be hard to deny that it’s slowly becoming a tired genre. Lucky for us, this is not that type of film. Think more along the lines of Interstellar rather than Independence Day.

Amy Adams presents us with some of her best acting as Dr. Louise Banks, expert linguist who teams up with scientist Ian Donnelly— played by Jeremy Renner—to communicate with aliens who have landed in 12 seemingly random locations all over the earth. Their spaceships, if you can call them that, look both futuristic and neolithic all at once: smooth, black, and egg-shaped, they hover above the ground as if by magic. Clearly, they are a more advanced species, but their purpose for coming to earth is a mystery. Are they here to kill us or befriend us?

Banks has been employed by the U.S. government to figure out how to decipher the alien language and to help both parties to communicate with one another, which sounds complicated, but fortunately enough for the audience, this process is glossed over, and soon enough Banks is able to roughly communicate with the alien creatures. But with militaries all over the world threatening violence, Banks has to race to discover why the aliens came to earth—and whether they are a threat to humanity.

Arrival doesn’t present a lot of new material in terms of what would happen if aliens came to earth. There’s the typical pro-violence military personnel ready to nuke the aliens at a moment’s notice, as well as the scientists and intellectuals who think communication and understanding is the best plan of action. But what it does do is present a new way of thinking about the arrival of extraterrestrial beings. Amy Adams does a fantastic job of guiding us through this foreign emotional territory. She is both thoughtful and practical, often acting as the voice of reason. To me, this was probably the most realistic look at what would happen if aliens came to earth, as long as they didn’t immediately start killing us all. I was amazed at how realistic it seemed, despite the fact that it is indeed a science fiction film and that we have never had to deal with the complex emotions that would accompany an alien invasion.

The score is otherworldly and ambient, often reminiscent of Philip Glass. Composed by Jóhann Jóhannsson, the futuristic droning creates a mood that is both eerie and mournful, and often times it is hard to distinguish between the score and the alien language. I would say half the tension the audience feels comes from the fantastic score.

There’s a lot more to be said about this beautiful film, but I don’t want to spoil it. It’s definitely something everyone should see for themselves.3 If you’re a fan of science fiction that really delves into deep, philosophical questions about life and humanity, this is one you’re not going to want to miss.

Fox’s Rumored X-Men Reboot Will Reportedly Focus on the Dark Phoenix Saga

0
0

Last week a rumor broke that Fox plans to reboot the X-Men franchise. It is a little confusing about how that would be done because they want several of the same actors to come back and reprise their roles.

We’ve now got some possible clarity from LRM on how things might move forward. They have inside source that says the movie will focus on the Dark Phoenix saga, which would be pretty cool. The site explains:

"I'm hearing (from sources) that there's some talk around Xavier’s mansion about a possible return of the DARK PHOENIX storyline. Even though we saw glimpses of the PHOENIX in the previous X-Films (X-Men: The Last Stand in timeline one, X-Men: Apocalypse in timeline two), this time it will be the central focus of the movie."

As for the cast, there’s a good chance that Sophie Turner will reprise her role as Jean Grey if the studio doesn’t do a full-on reboot. This whole thing could serve as a soft reboot, which would allow for several of the previous actors to reprise their roles. It would just start the franchise off fresh with them.

The Dark Phoenix Saga is one of the most popular and best X-Men comic book stories. It centers on Jean Grey, who becomes possessed by a fiery cosmic bird that makes her one of the most powerful beings in the universe. This is an intense change for her, and she struggles to control that power, and that leads her down the path of evil, eventually becoming the Dark Phoenix.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that the Dark Phoenix saga could be the next film. Director Bryan Singer previously talked about it saying he would “possibly” want to do “the full Phoenix story.” X-Men: Apocalypse definitely set up the story if they decided to go that direction. But according to the previous report, Singer won’t be involved with it, which I’m ok with.

Singer has had a great run with the X-Men franchise, but Apocalypse failed to impress. I think it’s time to get some new blood behind the camera and move the franchise forward with a new vision. They might as well launch this next series of film with the Dark Phoenix. It’s a solid starting point.

GHOST IN THE SHELL Film Clip Features The Opening Shelling Sequence

Yesterday the first trailer was released for Scarlett Johansson's live-action feature film adaptation of Ghost in the Shell, and it was pretty damn impressive! If you haven't watched it yet, make sure to check it out here! Since then a full two-minute clip from the film has been released featuring the opening sequence of the film, and it's pretty spectacular. It awesomely recreates the opening shelling sequence of the original 1995 anime film, which I also included below for you to watch. Director Rupert Sanders even brought in the composer of the original film, Kenji Kawai, to record a new drum composition of the musical score.

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, GHOST IN THE SHELL follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic¹s advancements in cyber technology.

Ghost in the Shell opens in theaters on March 31, 2017.

Magical Full Trailer for Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

0
0

Disney has released a full trailer for their highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. It looks like an incredible, beautifully made film that fantastically recreates the things we all love from the original movie. This is a true homage to the animated film, and I think fans are going to love what they see here. I did! You're going to see a lot of familiar scenes in this trailer, and it really has a nostalgic feel to it.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is a live-action adaptation of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. Beauty and the Beast is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

Beauty and the Beast was directed by Bill Condon (Dream Girls, Mr. Holmes), and it has a wonderfully talented cast that includes Emma Watson as Belle, Luke Evans as Gaston, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Dan Stevens as the Beast, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Stanley Tucci as Cadenza, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Kevin Kline as Maurice, and Josh Gad as Le Fou.

Beauty and the Beast hits theaters on March 17, 2017.

Hayao Miyazaki Is Coming Out of Retirement to Direct One Final Anime Movie!

0

It looks like legendary anime film director Hayao Miyazaki is going to step out of retirement to develop another anime feature film! Miyazaki retired three years ago, but still said he would direct some short films for Ghibli Museum. I guess when you love to do something so much, I imagine that it's not easy to stay away forever.

One of the shorts he's been working on is a CG animated film called "Kemushi no Boro" (Boro the Caterpillar). Well, according to Anime News Network, he's not satisfied with the project as a short film, and he wants to develop it as a feature film as well!

The 12-minute short should be completed in about another year and will only be screened at the Ghibli Museum. This is a story that Miyazaki has been planning for almost 20 years, so it makes sense that he would also want to develop it as a feature film. He describes the short as "a story of a tiny, hairy caterpillar, so tiny that it may be easily squished between your fingers."

The director already presented the project proposal for the feature film. and according to the report, he said that the feature would take him up to five years to make. He would be 80 years old at the end. In the schedule listed in his proposal, Miyazaki suggested that the film could be done by 2019, before the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo."

Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki said that Miyazaki will draw up the storyboards for the film "until he dies," and another staffer "dryly noted that this would make the movie a huge hit." The film project hasn't been officially greenlit yet, but that hasn't stopped him from developing it! This will most likely be Miyazaki's final film, and I'm so happy that he's going to make it!

David Yates Is Directing All Five FANTASTIC BEASTS Movies

0
0

Talk about awesome job stability. Director David Yates has revealed that he’s attached to direct all five films in the Fantastic Beasts series. The director obviously loves this magical world and wants to keep playing in it.

Yates directed four installments of the Harry Potter franchise before he took on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. He told THR that he’s already committed to the entire Harry Potter prequel series, and he’s excited to take them on. He told them:

“I love making films, and I’ve got a great team, all of whom are like family. I only look at it movie to movie.”

He went on to reveal that Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is set to write the scripts for all four of the film in the franchise, and Yates said she's currently “putting the finishing touches” on the sequel. He talked about the sequel and said that it “feels so different from this [first film]. Much more haunting, like a dream. What she’s doing is really interesting; she’s not repeating herself.”

That’s pretty cool and encouraging to hear! Rowling went on to say that she is excited to take on the challenge:

“I’m never complacent — I’m always feeling like I gotta do my best work, and I’m always pretty hard on myself. We’ve set ourselves an ambitious story to tell in five movies, but it’s going to be challenging and exciting — all the things I like.”

It’s all the things that the fans like as well! The sequel will introduce us to a young version of Albus Dumbledore, and Johnny Depp will be taking on the role of the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. He's the wizard that Dumbledore beat in a duel to win the Elder Wand. It’s going to be really cool to see how this story plays out.

The sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on November 16, 2018.

JURASSIC WORLD 2 Is Both a Sequel and JURASSIC PARK 5; It Leads to the Unexpected

0
0

There’s still so much that we don’t know about director J.A. Bayona’s Jurassic World 2, but from everything we’ve heard so far, it sounds like he has a solid plan to bring us something awesome. We still don’t have any story details, but in a recent interview with CinemaBlend, the director revealed that that Jurassic World 2 isn’t only a sequel — it’s also Jurassic Park 5. He explains:

“What we're doing is a sequel to Jurassic World, but it's definitely the fifth chapter of a longer saga. It's very interesting. It's always tricky, but you need to find a balance in what people expect to find, and the new stuff you're bringing to the story. And I think the story is looking for a connection between Jurassic World and Jurassic Park -- more than what Jurassic World did.”

Obviously, he’s not going to say what the connection between Jurassic World and Jurassic Park will be, other than the whole genetically engineered dinosaur thing, but it sounds like they are going to give us something new, refreshing, and unexpected. When asked about the story, Bayona explained that they are going to do something that the audience isn’t expecting.

“Sure. I think what this film does is it's the second chapter of the story that started in Jurassic World, and it's open to a third chapter too. It's very interesting in the way that we're approaching the story, and where we are leading the story. We're leading the story to a place that the audience is not expecting, and that's always exciting when you do a sequel.”

It’ll be interesting to see what unexpected place the story for this sequel takes us to. In a previous interview about what the sequel could possibly explore, Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow said:

"[It will not be] just a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island. That’ll get old real fast.
"And this isn’t something necessarily that was in the book but is a seed that I wanted to plant in this movie, is that might be able to grow in more of these movies if they decide to make more of them, is: What if this went open source? It's almost like InGen is Mac, but what if PC gets their hands on it? What if there are 15 different entities around the world who can make a dinosaur?
"And Dr. Wu says in the film, when he's warning Dr. Mesrani, 'we’re not always going to be the only ones who can make a dinosaur'. I think that’s an interesting idea that even if we don’t explore fully in this film, there is room for this universe to expand. I shouldn’t use the word universe, because people will think we’re making a Jurassic World universe -- we’re not."

Jurassic World 2 will most likely start production in early 2017 and is set to be released in theaters on June 22, 2018.
