STAR TREK BEYOND Crew Rationalizes Destroying The Enterprise in Behind The Scenes Video

Of the few complaints I've heard about Star Trek Beyond, one of them is the destruction of The Enterprise. What was the purpose of destroying the ship? I didn't question it myself when I saw the film, but for those who did, the cast and crew has your answer in the video below.

Jean-Ralphio and Steve Harrington Went on James Corden to Put The Fan Theory to Rest

The other day, Parks and Recreation actor Ben Schwartz shared some photos on his Instagram of himself and Joe Keery, who plays Steve Harrington on Netflix's Stranger Things. Turns out those were behind the scenes pics from a piece the two actors did on James Corden's Late Late Show in which they joined forces to answer the fan theory about Steve being Jean-Ralphio's father once and for all.

The move they pull at 1:09 cracked me up.

First Look at Anthony Hopkins in Character with Britain's Loneliest Dog in TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT Featurette

It's still unclear exactly who Anthony Hopkins is going to be playing in Michael Bay's Transformers: The Last Knight, but a new featurette gives us our first look at the actor in costume on the set. The video focuses largely on a dog named Freya, described as Britain's loneliest dog, but if you pay close attention, you'll notice some tanks in the background, so speculate away about how those might factor into the film.

When Bay saw Freya's story in the paper, he made sure to give her a part in the film. That's a nice little story, but I've gotta be honest: after how abysmal Transformers: Age of Extinction was, there's almost nothing he could do to get me to watch this movie in theaters.

Transformers: The Last Knight arrives in theaters on June 23, 2017.

These STAR WARS Suits Aren't The Designs You're Looking For

Dutch clothing company Opposuits, the same company that released that eye-popping Pac-Man suit earlier this year, is back with a couple of new designs that they're hoping the geek crowd will love. They've just put out two new officially licensed Star Wars-themed suits — one called "Strong Force" and the other called "Stormtrooper" — and I'm sorry to say that these things are revolting. There's so much going on in that dark suit that it almost hurts to look at it; it looks like a child's bed sheets wrapped around a grown man. The other one is slightly more aesthetically pleasing, but it still looks more like pajamas converted into a suit than anything else.

Even if you absolutely love Star Wars and these were the most comfortable suits on the market, I can't imagine there would be that many people who would actually be willing to walk around in these at anything other than a Halloween party. But hey, Halloween is coming up, so I guess they released them at the right time of year. The company also promises (threatens?) to release more designs next year, so maybe they can make some dramatic improvements between now and then. Meanwhile, each of these will set you back $109.00 if you're interested in buying them.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan Starring in WILDLIFE, Paul Dano's Directorial Debut

It's been a few years since Carey Mulligan has been in a high-profile mainstream movie, but now she's joining forces with Jake Gyllenhaal to star in a new film called Wildlife, which will mark the directorial debut of actor Paul Dano.

Variety says that Dano wrote the screenplay with actress Zoe Kazan, who wrote the 2012 movie Ruby Sparks in which she starred opposite Dano. Wildlife is based on Richard Ford's novel about "a boy who witnesses his parents’ marriage falling apart after his mom finds another man."

“In Richard’s book I saw myself and many others. I have always wanted to make films — and have always known I would make films about family,” Dano said. “I couldn’t be happier to have such beautiful collaborators like Carey and Jake leading the way.”

Sounds like it could be a heavy, emotional drama — exactly the kind of project that brings out the best of both of those actors.

DOCTOR STRANGE Gets Two Empire Magazine Covers

Marvel's Doctor Strange is a little more than a month away from release, so expect to be inundated with new trailers, character posters, and all of the usual fanfare as we inch closer to November 4, 2016. The movie actually opens a little earlier in England (it hits on October 25 over there), and Empire has two brand new covers featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Benedict Wong in full regalia.

The Eye of Agamotto is almost certainly the Time stone/gem, so keep an "eye" out for that when the movie arrives soon.

Not long after Arrow received an extended trailer for its upcoming seasonThe Flash has gotten one of its own. The series is about to return to The CW with "Flashpoint," the premiere episode of its third season, and this new trailer shows off the alternate reality Barry created at the end of last season, which includes Kid Flash. Barry is tempted to stick around in this new world forever, but he quickly learns the downside to that decision.

The newest episode of The Flash hits The CW on Tuesday, October 4th at 8pm EST.

Barry is living his dream life – his parents are alive, he’s asked Iris West on a date and he can finally be a normal guy as Central City has another speedster, Kid Flash, running around saving the city. When Barry starts forgetting parts of his old life, the Reverse Flash (guest star Matt Letscher) taunts his nemesis and tells him that there will be serious repercussions for Barry and the ones he loves if he continues to live in this alternate universe. In addition to losing his memories, his powers will also start to fade. When disaster strikes, Barry must decide if he wants to continue to live in this world as Barry Allen or return to his universe as The Flash.

I've got a wonderful collection of photos to share with you that gives us a cool behind-the-scenes look at Season 2 of the original Star Trek series. The photos are part of a new book called To Boldly Go: Rare Photos from the TOS Soundstage - Season 2 from author Gerald Gurian. The photos you see below originated from io9 and the photos feature William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, and some of the other cast members. As you'll see, it looks like it would have been a really fun show to be a part of.

THE SHINING Gets a Creepy New Trailer For Its Theatrical Re-Release

If you're a fan of Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of Stephen King's The Shining, you'll be happy to hear that there's going to be a theatrical re-release of the film in the UK by BFI which will hopefully be followed by a U.S. release. The entire 144-minute version of the film has been digitally restored for a screening to take place around Halloween. It's explained that this version of the film is "24 minutes longer than the European version previously seen."

The new trailer that was cut is pretty freakin' great and it makes me want to watch the movie again. I have never seen The Shining on the big screen, but I would really love to have the opportunity to see it one day in a movie theater. Hopefully, that happens with this newly restored version of the film.

This BMW Actually Transformers Into a Robot!

The dawn of real Transformers is here! This video released by the Letrons YouTube channel shows a BMW transforming into a freakin' robot. The transforming process is slow as hell and nothing like we see in the classic animated series or movies, but it's still cool. You gotta take baby steps. I'd like to think that this could lead to real Transformers like what we've seen in TV and film, but that's highly unlikely.

STRANGER THINGS-Inspired Oreos With "The Upside Down" Cream and Other Horror-Themed Cookies

Artist Billy Polard has created a collection of horror-themed Oreo cookie flavors, one of which pays tribute to Stranger Things with its waffle flavoring and "Upside Down" cream. It's amusingly brilliant. The series of horror cookies also include A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Exorcist, Halloween III, Gremlins, It, Trick r' Treat, and more.

Oreo has been on a roll with the creation of some wacky Oreo flavors like Fruity Crisp, Swedish Fish, and Watermelon. They are pretty terrible tasting, though. It would be awesome if Oreo actually picked up on these creations and made them for the Halloween season. I'd buy the hell out of them!

STRANGER THINGS: Cool Season 1 Set Photos and Cast Shows Off Secret Handshake

The kids from Stranger Things have made quite an impression and they are officially the coolest kids in the world. Their lives have been turned upside down (pun intended) since the release of the Netflix series Stranger Things. I bet none of them knew how big of a hit this series was going to be.

Since the series was released, these kids have been popping up online everywhere. They were a hit at the Emmy Awards, which took place earlier this week, and now we have a couple new things to share with you.

Below you'll find a video from AMC's Geeking Out featuring Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) and Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) showing off their secret handshake and apparently their own secret language. Below that, you'll find a few adorably fun photos from the set of the first season of Stranger Things.

Lots of good stuff to see here for fans of the series! I can't wait for Season 2!

New Trailer For The Awesome-Looking Russian Superhero Film GUARDIANS

$

I'm pretty pumped up about seeing this upcoming Russian superhero film called Guardians: Soviet Union Superheroes. There's been some pretty spectacular footage shown for the film so far, and this latest trailer is an English version that does a great job building the suspense of the story and characters. I've also included a couple of previously released trailers and clips below.

Set during the Cold War, a secret organization named "Patriot" gathered a group of Soviet superheroes, altering and augmenting the DNA of four individuals, in order to defend the homeland from supernatural threats.

The group includes representatives of the different nationalities of the Soviet Union, which each one of them have long been hiding their true identity. In hard times, they settled down to business and gather to defend their homeland.

Guardians should open up in the US sometime next year.

We recently learned that the classic Disney animated series Darkwing Duck didn't take place in the same duckiverse as Ducktales. If you're a fan of Darkwing Duck, you should read up on all that here. I also just came across some cool fan art for the show that was created by artist Ricardo Chucky and it features Darkwing and Magica DeSpell. This is a series that I'd love to see make a comeback one day.

Rob Liefeld Releases His YOUNGBLOOD Film Script Online

$

0

I was a big fan of Rob Liefeld's Youngblood comic when it was published by Image in 1992. I still have the comics and the action figures! As a way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Youngblood, Liefeld released a script that he wrote for a film that unfortunately never happened.

I've always wanted to see Youngblood get a film adaptation and even included it in an article I wrote listing ten non-Marvel or DC comics that need the big screen treatment. At one point Brett Ratner was developing a Youngblood movie, and thankfully it didn't go anywhere.

Now the rights are back with Liefeld and he wants to share what could have been. Liefeld also recently announced that he would be teaming up with artist Jim Towe to develop a reboot of the comic series. This is what he had this to say about the script on his site his website

"As we approach the 25th anniversary of the launch of Youngblood and Image Comics I am sharing unknown items and relics from its past. I loaded up my Youngblood screenplay available for download on my website. It's not being shopped around, it's for the fans and in all honesty it's how I would launch the book if I had a do-over. Link to my website in my bio."

Liefeld also says on his site:

"A short while back I penned this Youngblood screenplay, it was a story that I wanted to tell, it was a tale I’d been sitting on for years. This is my vision of what a Youngblood movie would look and how it would feel like. I know that fans who have loved Youngblood through the ages are certain to be thrilled by some if not many of the beats throughout this script. This has not been exposed at the studio level and that is certainly not the purpose here. This is for YOU! It costs me nothing to give this to you as a free pdf, something created and written for the most extreme Youngblood die-hards 😜 !!!
"So as we mount a new direction for Youngblood at the hands of a new age of talented comic book creators, I figured I’d share this with all of you wonderful fans who put Youngblood at the top of the charts those many years ago and have clamored for it ever since. It is very likely I’ll adapt this script as a graphic novel in the very near future, wether providing the art myself or with a fresh new illustrator that can crash the pages with the same raucous energy and style as my partners and I did when we gathered together to launch our little Image comics line in the summer of 1992!"

You have to sign-up for Rob Liefeld's newsletter to receive a download link for the script. Once you sign up and confirm, you get the script right away. I still haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I plan on it.
