Working for a site like this has left me with a love for writing to the masses and an incredibly long list of geek gear that I want. Here is yet another thing to add to the list.

IT'S A FREAKING DARTH VADER LIGHTSABER IMMERSION BLENDER!

Of all of the lightsabers, Vader’s was the coolest. This will go great with any kitchen décor, because Vader says so! Don’t mess with the man — he knows what he is talking about. I think the only thing that would make this cooler is if it made lightsaber noises while you used it. It might, but there isn’t any info that says it does.

If you happen to buy one, my birthday is this month and Christmas is just around the corner. It is available on Amazon and is going to run you $49.99.

Since the DuckTales animated revival was announced for Disney XD last year, we've only seen one piece of art that shows us what we could expect from the style. Thanks to Oh My Disney, we now have a look at the official logo and a promo poster. The logo is basically a cleaned-up version of the original one. 

It's yet to be seen if the revived series will be worth watching or not, but so far fans seem to be excited about it. 

The new series’ adventures will once again take viewers along as Scrooge McDuck, his curious and mischief-making grandnephews—Huey, Dewey, and Louie—and the optimistic-yet-temperamental Donald Duck embark on high-flying adventures worldwide. Other beloved characters slated to be in the new stories are: Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell & Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys (Burger Beagle, Bouncer Beagle), Mrs. Beakley, and Webbigail Vanderquack.

DuckTales is set to premiere sometime in 2017.

I actually enjoyed the Justice League trailer that Warner Bros. released. I don't want to get my hopes up for an amazing film, but it is sure to entertain the fans. That trailer has been reimagined in 8-Bit form and is part of a new web series from JoBlo called 8-Bit trailers. It's a bit better quality than 8-Bit, but you get the point. Enjoy!

Every actor has to start their career somewhere, and most of the time the first film project for them isn't the best. ScreenRant has released a video that lists ten famous actors who got their starts with embarrassing movie roles. Some of the actors include Ben Affleck in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Denzel Washington in Heart Condition, Emilia Clarke in Triassic Attack, Matthew McConaughey and Renee Zellweger in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, and more. It's pretty funny to see where these big stars got their start.

I've got a great officially licensed screen print here for David Cronenberg's classic sci-fi thriller The Fly that was created by artist Matt Ryan Tobin. The post shows Jeff Goldblum's character Seth kissing Geena Davis' Veronica, and you can see him morphing into the grotesque fly.

The poster consists of a regular edition of 175 and variant Glow in the Dark edition of 100. They are currently available for purchase at Grey Matter Art. 

This movie is so great and so disgusting. It's a nightmarish masterpiece. I previously posted a 15 Fun Facts list about the film that you can read here if you want. If you haven't read that already, you should check it out! 

Weinstein Television is currently in the process of developing an Elvis Presley TV biopic and the series is set to be shot at Graceland. This is the first scripted attempt at telling the story of Elvis to film there, and according to Variety, Priscilla Presley, the former wife of Elvis, is attached as an executive producer.

The project is based on the 1982 book “Elvis” written by Dave Marsh and the event series will consist of eight to ten episodes and will "explore every aspect of the King of Rock n’ Roll’s life with access to Elvis’ personal archives including journals, clothing, automobiles and Graceland."

Priscilla had this to say in a statement:

“I’m a big fan of Harvey Weinstein’s independent films. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him on this show and tell the story of how Elvis changed the culture of music and initiated a revolution that changed the world.”

The president and CMO of Authentic Brands Group went on to say:

“This project will truly honor everything that made Elvis Presley a central figure of our time. We are thrilled to be working with Weinstein Television and our Executive Producers on this TV biopic. This format enables us to do justice to Elvis’ rich and compelling story, which will be sure to thrill audiences.”

Weinstein Company co-chairman Harvey Weinstein says:

“To this day, Elvis is one of the few that lives up to the word ‘icon’. He is one of the most celebrated entertainers of all time whose influence surpasses the music he created. People’s fascination with his story goes beyond the stage and this biopic will pay homage to his brilliant legacy and give viewers an in-depth look at how he became The King.”

I've been a fan of Elvis since I was a kid and it's great that his story will finally be told in this way. I'm surprised that it took so long to get a top-notch biopic like this made.

I was a prime fan of Spawn at the time that the 1997 movie came out. I was deep into the comics and collecting all the action figures. Unfortunately, I walked out of that movie with the feeling of utter disappointment. That movie should have been so much better. Visually, it was awesome for the '90s, but the script was just awful.

Spawn fan and video editor Tim Gonzales has a different memory and opinion of the film and he created a modern-style trailer for the movie that you can watch below. The video came with the following note:

Growing up in the 90s, I was a pretty big Spawn fan. I was especially keen on the action figures from the series because their build quality was on an entirely other level compared to other toys.

When the Spawn movie came out in '97, I was around 11 years old at the time; I thought it was the dopest shit, haha. While the movie doesn't really hold up all that well today, it's a film I will always cherish since its part of my childhood.

A trailer for the upcoming documentary Tower has been released and this looks like an incredibly intense film! The movie revolves around the deadly sniper attack that took place in Austin, Texas in 1966. Charles Whitman shot 49 people that day and 18 of them died, including himself — he was shot and killed by police.

This looks like a powerful documentary and it was done in a unique visual style. Along with some of the actual footage from the event, the dramatization of it was done in a rotoscope animation style, like Richard Linklater’s Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly.

Tower has been getting rave reviews and it seems like everyone that has seen it says it's a must-watch film. Here's the synopsis:

August 1, 1966, was the day our innocence was shattered. A sniper rode the elevator to the top floor of the iconic University of Texas Tower and opened fire, holding the campus hostage for 96 minutes in what was a previously unimaginable event. TOWER combines archival footage with rotoscopic animation of the dramatic day, based entirely on first person testimonies from witnesses, heroes and survivors, in a seamless and suspenseful retelling of the unfolding tragedy. The film highlights the fear, confusion, and visceral realities that changed the lives of those present, and the rest of us, forever - a day when the worst in one man brought out the best in so many others.

The film was directed by Keith Maitland, and it will get a limited release next month, opening in NYC on October 12th at the Film Forum, and in L.A. October 14th at the Laemmle Royal.

Director Scott Derrickson wanted Benedict Cumberbatch in the role of Doctor Strange so bad that after he initially turned the part down due to scheduling conflicts, he convinced Marvel to move the production back to accommodate the actor's schedule. 

Derrickson explained to Empire that Cumberbatch was the only actor they seriously considered. Derrickson met with several other great actors for the role, including Joaquin Phoenix, Jared Leto, and Ryan Gosling, but he said Cumberbatch was the only one he wanted. 

Cumberbatch was humbled that Marvel and Derrickson came back to him after having met with all these other actors. When talking about it he said:

"I really did think I had to kiss it goodbye. If you can’t jump on board when the ride’s going past. That’s usually it, so the hugest compliment they paid me was to come back to me. It motivated me to try to fulfill their faith in me."

It's pretty incredible that the studio was actually willing to delay the film to ensure that Cumberbatch could star in the movie. That speaks volumes. Marvel could have easily just told Derrickson no and that he had to pick another actor to star in the film, but they wanted to make sure that they got the best Doctor Strange possible. 

Benedict Cumberbatch is obviously the definitive Doctor Strange, and well get to see him in action on November 4th!

Some possible plot details have surfaced for Dwayne Johnson's upcoming Jumanji sequel. Ever since the first photo was released, there's been a lot of discussion over why the actors are dressed the way they are. Specifically, the outfit that Karen Gillan is wearing. She already took to Twitter to tease why she is wearing that outfit, saying:

"Jumanji! Yes I'm wearing child sized clothes and YES there is a reason! The pay off is worth it, I promise!"

I'm not one to make a big fuss over these kinds of skimpy outfits since I grew up on Jim Lee and J. Scott Campbell comic books as well as playing Tomb Raider. Anyway, a new bit of info has surfaced that sheds some more light on the plot and what Gillan was talking about. The info comes from a recent tweet from Mashable reporter Jeff Sneider that says:

"JUMANJI sequel said to follow 4 teens in detention who get sucked into the game, where they take on new 'Avatar' forms to locate a jewel."

It's also mentioned in some of the comments that Jack Black's teenage character might be a girl who picks the form of Black as her Avatar, which is actually a pretty funny concept. It's also mentioned that this version of the Jumanji is a video game with the gaming console that has the game on it being stored in the school.

None of this information has been confirmed, so as of right now let's treat it all as a rumor. It seems like a solid concept that modernizes the story. What do you think about the direction that the creative team is taking the film?

Sam Neill has reunited with director Taika Waititi and Jeff Goldblum in Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok. Neill revealed that he has already shot a small role in the film during an interview with Shortlist.  

“I’m not really allowed to say this and I can’t tell you what it is…I did a couple of days on Thor just before I came over here. If I say anything else, Marvel’s secret agents — and they are lethal — will come and get me and probably my children, as well.”

Neill recently worked with Waititi on Hunt for the Wilderpeople, which was great! As you know, he also worked with Goldblum on Jurassic Park. There's no word on who he'll play in the film, but it's cool that Waititi brought him on board for some kind of role. 

There's a lot of cool stuff that we've posted about this film that you can check out here. I'm really excited about the Planet Hulk aspect of the story, and I'm looking forward to learning more about that.

Chris Hemsworth returns as the God of Thunder in the film, and he will be joined by Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Cate Blanchett as the villain Hela, Goldblum as the eccentric Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Karl Urban will play Skurge.

The screenplay for the film was written by Stephany Folsom, Craig Kyle, Eric Pearson, and Christopher Yost. Thor: Ragnarok will smash its way into theaters on November 3, 2017.

I've got a great short film for you to watch today called "The Seven Red Hoods," which is a very different version of the classic fairytale, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. It was made with a mix of traditional animation with practical model sets, which definitely adds some solidity and fun production value.  

The story follows a seven thieves who have just pulled off their greatest heist. They escape to a cabin in the woods where things don't really play out they way they had planned. It almost serves as kind of an origin story for the dwarves and why they ended up mining. 

The short was created by Leo Verrier, and he really did a fantastic job bringing the story to life and paying tribute to the classic Disney film. I hope you enjoy it!

Emile Hirsch and Brian Cox star in a new horror thriller called The Autopsy of Jane Doe in which they play a father and son who run a morgue. They receive a mysterious homicide victim, and as they proceed with the autopsy and strange discoveries are made, strange supernatural things start to happen. 

The first teaser trailer for the film has been released, and it looks like a solid and intense horror thriller. The film was directed by Norwegian filmmaker André Øvredal who is the same guy who made Trollhunter. I'm 100% on board with watching this flick because it seems like it could be nightmarishly fun. Here's the detailed synopsis:

Experienced coroner Tommy Tilden and his grown-up son Austin run a family-owned morgue and crematorium in Virginia. When the local Sheriff brings in an emergency case -- an unknown female corpse nicknamed 'Jane Doe', found in the basement of a home where a multiple homicide took place -- it seems like just another open-and-shut case. But as the autopsy proceeds, these seasoned professionals are left reeling as each layer of their inspection brings frightening new revelations. Perfectly preserved on the outside, Jane Doe's insides have been scarred, charred and dismembered -- seemingly the victim of a horrific yet mysterious ritualistic torture. As Tommy and Austin begin to piece together these gruesome discoveries, an unnatural force takes hold of the crematorium. While a violent storm rages above ground, it seems the real horrors lie on the inside…

The movie also stars Ophelia Lovibond, Michael McElhatton, Parker Sawyers, and Olwen Kelly. It's set to be released on December 21st.

We've got some new information about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story for you to check out today! This latest information revolves around some cool new characters being introduced into the story. It includes descriptions of two badass alien creatures and two Stormtrooper classes. 

The following information comes from Making Star Wars, and it's definitely worth reading if you're excited about the movie. There's nothing really here that spoils any story details, just some fun info on some new characters.

Name: Moroff

Species: Gigoran

Description: Moroff seeks out combat zones to sell his brawn and firepower to anyone who might need it. The mighty Gigoran mercenary figures there’s money to be made for a towering heavy gunner.

Name: Rebel Commando Pao

Species: Drabata

Description: An amphibious Drabata, the fierce commando Pao charges into battle with a full-throated battle cry of “Sa’Kalla!” He joins the Rogue One team on its historic mission to secure the Death Star plans.

Name: Scarif Stormtrooper Commander

Trooper Class: Stormtrooper

Description: Specialist stormtroopers stationed at the top-secret Imperial Military headquarters on Skarif, Shoretroopers patrol the beaches and bunkers of the planetary facility.

I'm excited to see these characters in action, especially the two alien characters. I really want to hear what Rebel Commando Pao's full-throated battle cry of “Sa’Kalla!” sounds like!

Jon Favreau recently did an in-depth interview about his life and career with Yahoo. It's a great interview that you should definitely check out if you're a fan of the filmmaker. During the interview, he was asked about working with Marvel and his relationship with them after he left to direct other projects, saying:

"Well, as far as directing goes, I had done two back-to-back, and that required a tremendous amount of concentration on one subject. Fortunately, I didn’t lose connection with it; I just wasn’t directing there. I still was executive-producing Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron and Iron Man 3, and I appeared in Iron Man 3. So I maintained the relationship as part of the family. And now, in Spider-Man:Homecoming, coming back and reuniting with the characters as an actor — it’s a lot of fun. It allows me to maintain the relationship with the MCU, but also to do other things that are interesting that are outside of that genre and that set of characters."

It's good to know Favreau's relationship with Marvel is still strong. That tells us there's a chance that one day maybe he will come back to direct another movie for them. Until that time comes, he seems to really enjoy coming back to reprise his role as Happy Hogan, who will be returning to the MCU in Spider-Man: Homecoming. When asked about acting in the Marvel films he said:

"Yeah. It’s fun to come back as an actor. Especially when the filmmakers are taking care of you, and taking care of the characters and the story. If you’re in good hands, it’s great to come in and play in somebody else’s world. That’s how I started, as an actor. I really enjoy being on other people’s sets, especially if I have cool things to do. It’s all the fun and much less of the responsibility."

I was so excited to hear that Favreau would be returning to the MCU in Homecoming. It was a complete surprise that I don't think anyone was expecting. We still don't know how big of a role Happy will play in the story, but It'll be fun to see him back in action regardless. 

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released in theaters on July 7th, 2017.

I've got an awesome new full trailer for Marvel's Luke Cage for you to check out that is sure to get you even more pumped up about watching this series! The trailer is called "Streets," and it's the second full trailer that we've seen for the series. It fires off a ton of badass new footage of Mike Colter's Cage brutally kicking ass. This series looks intense, but it also looks like it's going to be a ton of fun.

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city–forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

The cast of the series also includes Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and Rosario Dawson returning as Claire Temple.

All 13 episodes of the first season of Luke Cage will be released on September 30th at 12:01 AM Pacific on Netflix.

As Marvel gets closer to the release of Doctor Strange, they are going to start a big marketing push that will include more trailers, TV spots, and clips. Today we have four new spots with bits of additional footage to help build the excitement.

This movie looks like it's going to be a pretty awesome, mind-bending moviegoing experience. This is definitely going to be one of the most different films that Marvel has made so far, and I can't wait to see how exactly this story plays out. I'm sure we're going to be in for a wild ride with some crazy fun twists and turns.
