Could Idris Elba be the Next James Bond?!

$

I've enjoyed Daniel Craig as James Bond, but he won't be making these films forever. Sooner or later we are going to see yet another actor in the role of James Bond, and that actor could be Idris Elba. Elba is a great actor that has had roles in The Wire, Thor and Prometheus.

While promoting 007 Skyfall co-star Naomie Harris revealed that Elba has met with the producers of the films to entertain the idea of casting him as the first Black 007. Here's what she told The Huffington Post:

I didn't realize that there was this talk and then I did a film with Idris [Elba] and he said that he met Barbara Broccoli [James Bond producer] and that it does seem like there is a possibility in the future that there could very well be a black James Bond. And I would have to vote for Idris because I just finished working with him and he's a great guy.

I could easily see Elba in the role of Bond! He's a great actor that could easily pull off the role! It will be interesting to see if he eventually ends up being cast. He's got my vote. What do you think about Elba possibly landing the role of Bond some day?

Window Washing Superheroes Surprise Kids at Children's Hospital

I love coming across geeky feel good news, and this one is sure to put a smile on your face. A Pennsylvania Children's Hospital got a surprise visit from four costumed superheroes today as they dropped in from the roof to do a little window cleaning. Allegheny Window Cleaning Inc. sent four workers dressed as Batman, Captain America, Spider-Man and Superman.

Edward Matuizek, president of Allegheny Window Cleaning Inc. had this to say in a statement,

This isn't about us. This is about them. It's a nice place to work, but emotionally it's a real tough place to work. You go home and pick your own kids up, and there's a lot of gratitude there.

The kids loved the surprise! One of the window washers who dressed up as Captain America, Mark Errico said,

The kids were loving it. Everywhere we went, they were coming in from different rooms.

This obviously made these kids' day.

The movie is set to be released on November 2nd, and it won't disappoint.

Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly, "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," "Step Brothers") is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer, "30 Rock"), the "good guy" star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing andseeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he's tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he's got what it takes to be a hero. On his quest, he meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Jane Lynch, TV's "Glee") from the first-person action game Hero's Duty. But it's the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman, "The Sarah Silverman Program") from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. I know Predators only speak in grunts and growls, but I'd like to think that a steampunk Predator speaks with an English accent... and theeeen they murder people in the face. If you're looking to make my fantasy a cosplay reality, then we've got you covered. SkunkWorksProps has created this wonderfully designed Steampunk Predator helmet.

Not only is it totally wearable, but you can order the raw fiberglass bio and customize this bad boy to the extent of your imagination... and skill. If you're lacking in the skill and or time department, you can order one as you see pictured above and below. The helmet is deceptively light, coming in at around 2 lbs. The immensely detailed weathered metal look was achieved by using a combination of waxes, metal rubs and airbrushing.

The raw bio will cost you around $154, and requires some sanding and dremel work. The finished product will run you around $267. Click here for more info.

Watch Vin Diesel's MULTI-FACIAL Short That Gave Him His Big Break

Vin Diesel got his big break when Steven Spielberg cast him in Saving Private Ryan. Since then he's become quite a big action star. Multi-Facial is a short film that Diesel wrote, directed and starred in. The short tells his own real-life story about the problems he faced landing roles due to his ambiguous ethnicity. Apparently he wasn't black enough to play black, white enough to play white, and couldn't speak spanish so he couldn't play a Latino.

The film was shot in 3 days on a budget of $3,000 dollars and generated some buzz at the Cannes Film Festival. It got the attention of Spielberg who contacted Diesel and cast him in Saving Privte Ryan. I guess it turned out to be the best $3,000 he ever spent!

Watch it below, and let us know what you think of the short film that launched Diesel's career.

Joss Whedon has cast ER's Ming-Na Wen in Marvel's upcoming S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series that he's developing. Wen will play Agent Melinda May. Described as "soulful and slightly damaged by her combat experiences, Melinda is an ace pilot, a weapons expert and a soldier who can — and has — gone beyond the call of duty."

She's the second actor to be cast in the series, as she joins Clark Gregg who will reprise his role as Agent Phil Coulson. Wen has also been in shows such as Eureka and Stargate Universe.

The story will revolve around the activities of the top-secret S.H.I.E.L.D espionage organization featured in The Avengers. Whedon is tentatively set to direct the pilot for the series, that he will write along side his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen

MASS EFFECT Movie gets a New Screenwriter

$

Legendary Pictures is still slowly but surly developing a big screen adaptation of Electronic Arts and BioWare's Mass Effect franchise. They just hired writer Morgan Davis Foehl to take a crack at the script that was previously worked on by Thor scribe Mark Protosevich

None of the scripts written by Foehl have been produced so I have no idea if he's a good writer or not. He previously worked as an assistant editor on the TV show Rescue Me and the Adam Sandler film I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. One of the scripts he wrote, Whatever Gets You Through the Night, landed on 2009's Black List. He also wrote an adaptation of the Top Cow comicbook Crosshair for Summit.

According to Variety he's a big Mass Effect fan, "and has also penned action pics with a strong espionage bent, material similar to the overall plot of the Mass Effect games." This is obviously the biggest project he's taken on.

The first game takes place in 2183 and revolves around a human space commander who leads a team on a mission to defeat an ancient race of mechanized aliens that invade the galaxy every 50,000 years, wiping out all forms of organic life.

Avi and Ari Arad are producing the movie through their Arad Prods shingle. BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk will serve as exec producers, as will Mass Effect executive producer Casey Hudson. Arad is also working on a few other video game adaptations such as Uncharted, Twisted Metal, Infamous and Metal Gear Solid.

Mass Effect has potential to be an incredibly badass sci-fi movie, and I hope to hell they get it right.

No Way! Someone is Building A Full Scale Millennium Falcon Replica

What. The. Eff.

Times are still tough for a lot of people in America these days, but who says citizens can't spend ludicrous amounts of money constructing full-scale models of spacecrafts from their favorite science fiction movies? That's exactly what Chris Lee is doing, putting a team together at Full Scale Falcon (via Geekologie) to build a full-scale replica of Han Solo's Millennium Falcon and putting him in the running for one of the craziest and biggest Star Wars nerds I've ever heard of. (And that's saying something.)

They've really thought this thing out, and it seems like they're totally serious about getting this bad boy completed. Check out their specs:

Length: 114 feet
Beam (docking ring to docking ring): 81.485 feet
Height to top of body (not counting quad-laser turret): 24.878 feet
Height to top of dish: 30.889 feet
Clearance: ground to landing gear bay level: 7.779 feet
Clearance: ground to outside bottom of cockpit tube: 13.081 feet

Lee and his team are hoping to finish the project in the next 5-7 years, but I've got one piece of advice for them: don't get cocky. Check out photos below of their progress so far and some renderings of what it should look like when it's all done. You can visit their site for more info.

Rare Behind the Scenes Photos from Ridley Scott's ALIEN

THE RAVEN Blu-ray Review

The Raven arrived on Blu-ray and DVD on October 7 to commemorate Edgar Allan Poe's death, which was Oct. 7, 1849. James McTeigue directed this suspense thriller which stars John Cusack as Poe. The cast also includes Alice Eve, Luke Evans, Brendan Gleeson, Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Kevin McNally. Despite a solid cast and production The Raven failed to entertain on a number of levels.

Ben Livingston and Hannah Shakespeare penned the screenplay, which takes audiences inside the final days of the eccentric author. The story takes place in Baltimore, Maryland where a fictionalized account of Poe's life, in which the poet is in pursuit of a serial killer whose murders mirror those in the his stories. In The Raven, the city of Baltimore acts as an integral part of the plot as Poe races through the city to bring the murderer to justice.

The Raven gets off to a very slow start, almost moving at a snail's pace. You would think that would mean some nice character development, but that was far from the truth. Cusack does a solid job as Edgar Allen Poe, but it is very hard to see a Cusack movie without always seeing the character as being played by Cusack. His personality, and line delivery continue to shine through no matter how much of a dialect he uses.

Alice Eve is very pretty, but she did not have any chemistry with Cusack. I would have rather seen someone a bit older in the role. Luke Evans is in one of his better roles as of late as the Detective. McTeigue could have done a better job, and I was expecting a lot more in terms of the tone after his fantastic work on V for Vendetta

If you enjoy doom and gloom and are a fan of Poe's work, this may be a film you enjoy. The disc is loaded with informative features about Poe, and the mystery surrounding his life and death. I specifically enjoyed the documentary that featured two Poe experts.

Mark Wahlberg will Not Be in TRANSFORMERS 4

A couple of days ago a rumor hit the internet saying that Mark Wahlberg was in talks with Michael Bay to join Transformers 4. Bay has now put this rumor to rest saying,

The Mark Wahlberg T4 rumor is just a rumor. Mark and I are talking about another film project.

So that's the end of that. I guess the news here is that Bay is already prepping up for another film project after he's done with his fourth Transformers movie, and he wants Wahlberg to star in it.

First Look at Ray Winstone in Darren Aronofsky's NOAH

$

These photos give us our first look at Ray Winstone as the antagonist in Darren Aronofsky's Noah. The film's cinematographer Matthew Libatique talked a little bit about the villain in the movie in a previous interview saying,

...gotta have a villain in the story of Noah. Someone who's saying 'Listen, don't listen to him. We're fine! We don't need to build any ark. Don't be so alarmist! Don't be so fundamentalist.' You know? One of those guys.

The movie tells the epic biblical story of a prophet who is told by God to build a giant boat that can carry two of every animal from the earth to save them from a giant flood that will destroy every living thing on Earth, so that they could start a new beginning. The reason for the flood? The world just got way too evil.

Russell Crowe plays the prophet, Jennifer Connelly plays his wife, Emma Watson will play Ila, described as "a young woman who develops a close relationship with Noah’s son, Shem." Shem is being played by Douglas Booth, and Logan Lerman will be taking on the role of his brother Ham.

Winstone is a great actor that looks like a guy you wouldn't want to mess with.

Bradley Cooper to Join Emma Stone in Cameron Crowe's Next Film

$

0

We Bought A Zoo director Cameron Crowe is looking to cast Bradley Cooper as his leading man along side Emma Stone in his next film project. The movie still has no title, but it's a love story that's been compared to Almost Famous and Jerry Maguire. It's easy for me to see Cooper fitting in the world of films Crowe has created.

Several movie blogs have speculated that that this could be Deep Tiki, the supernatural romantic comedy that Crowe was trying to get off the ground before We Bought A Zoo. At one point it had Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon attached.

From what we know of the film, it centers on a disgraced military weapons consultant who is deployed to a dormant base in Hawaii to supervise the launch of a spy satellite. While there he discovers himself and thinks about the relationships he left behind. The story is set against the backdrop of mythical island lore and Cold War-esque diplomacy. It even involved visions of Hawaiian Gods and a volcano sacrifice.

The thing about this is, the story seems to bear very little resemblance to the two movies his next project is being compared to... Almost Famous and Jerry Maguire. So it could be a completely different.

What do you think about Cooper possibly joining Crowe's next movie?

THE WOLVERINE is Set After All of the other X-Men Films!

$

It's been assumed almost from the very beginning that director James Mangold's The Wolverine was going to be a prequel movie, but apparently that's not the case at all. In fact, the movie actually is set after the events in X-Men 3: The Last Stand. That's surprisingly awesome!

In an interview with Empire, the director explained the setting of the story,

Where this film sits in the universe of the films is after them all. Jean Grey is gone, most of the X-Men are disbanded or gone, so there’s a tremendous sense of isolation for him.

Of course there's going to be some prequel elements as we've seen some World War II set pieces, and there's the rumor that Jean Grey will make an appearance. But the film will actually be set in present day Japan. Mangold continues,

That’s something that for me was very important, that I land in a very specific place in his timeline. I wanted to be able to tell the story without the burden of handing it off to a film that already exists and having to conform to it. The ideas of immortality reign very heavily in this story and the burden of immortality weighs heavily on Logan. For me that’s such an interesting part of Logan’s character that is nearly impossible to explore if you have a kind of league or team movie.

Mangold then reveals how he would categorize the film saying that it's a "Japanese noir picture with tentpole action in it." I'm really excited about this movie, and I love that it takes place after the events of X-Men 3. There's something about it that makes the movie a lot more appealing.

The film is set to open in theaters on July 26, 2013, and it stars Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima and Brian Tee.

What do you think about The Wolverine not being a prequel?

New Photo of WOLVERINE with Bone Claws

Here's a new photo from The Wolverine featuring Hugh Jackman as the title character sporting some bone claws. We recently learned that the story for this film will take place in present day after the events of the original X-Men trilogy. If you're wondering why he's got the bone claws, it's because the movie will also include flashback prequel type elements.

I have a feeling Jackman is going to tear it up in this film, and I'm hoping the film takes Wolverine to a new level. I really want to see Wolverine go into true berserker rage.

Here's the synopsis:

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, THE WOLVERINE finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.

The picture is a scan from Empire Magazine.
